Opis:
Boredom, monotony and inactivity are some causes of passive learner behaviours during foreign language classes. A teacher who is aware of the importance of the learning process has to be consciously responsible for activating learners. New technologies offer numerous opportunities. The tool presented in this article: Storybird, allows learners to create and publish their own illustrated stories. Differences between traditional writing tasks versus using Storybird are discussed here. Analysis of a survey allows us to see the potentil of this tool from the learner perspective.

The pandemic that started in 2020 significantly influenced the situations of students and teachers, who stopped attending regular schools, with all classes happening online. Distant education itself transformed a lot, and the activities performed by teachers in autumn were definitely more advanced than those from the beginnings in spring. Teachers developed their ICT skills, and generally feel more comfortable teaching online. They notice some advantages of more systematic application of ICT and the distant form of education, however there are some drawbacks of it that cannot be easily overcome.
Rozwój pandemii w roku 2020 znacznie zmienił sytuację nauczycieli i uczniów, którzy przestali uczęszczać do szkół, uczestnicząc w lekcjach prowadzonych zdalnie. Również sama forma edukacji zdalnej przeszła znaczną transformację, a działania realizowanie przez nauczycieli jesienią były zdecydowanie bardziej zaawansowane niż w początkowym etapie wiosną. Nauczyciele rozwinęli swoje umiejętności w zakresie wykorzystania TIK, czując się swobodniej w nauczaniu zdalnym. Nauczyciele wskazują na pewne plusy częstszego wykorzystywania TIK oraz zdalnej formy edukacji, jednakże nie wszystkie z problemów z nią związanych mogą być rozwiązane.

Email is one of the primary sources of numerous criminal activities, on the Internet, of which some threaten human lives. Email analysis is challenging due to not only various fields that can be forged by hackers or the wide range email applications in use, but also due to imposed law restrictions in the analysis of email body. Despite this being a relatively new area, a number of both open source and proprietary forensic tools, with varying possibilities and versatility, have been developed aiding use by practitioners. In this paper, we review existing email forensic tools for email header analysis, as part of email investigation, with emphasis on aspects related to online crime while still considering legal constraints. Through our analysis, we investigate a common case of cybercrime and examine the breadth of information one may gain solely through email forensics analysis. Additionally, a roadmap for email forensic analysis is presented, combining features and functionality already available, to assist the process of digital forensic analysis.

The aim of the article is to present the selected digital tools for language analysis which may be applied in the academic didactics during course classes in linguistics. In the first part of the article advanced corpus search engines were discussed, for instance, National Corpus of Polish (NKJP), National Photo-corpus of the Polish Language (NFJP), as well as ChronoPress – Press Texts Portal, Spokes – corpora of conversational speech, and corpus search engine Monco PL. The second part is dedicated to the tools and applications for the individual creation of browsable language resources (Korpusomat, Virtual Laboratory of Transcription), as well as for the complex analysis of the relationships between language units (plWordnet) and the measurement of the degree of the text comprehension (Jasnopis).

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, teachers and educators have been forced to introduce digital solutions within a very short time, which influenced the educational perspective significantly, and required adapting to the new conditions, not only in what concerns teaching methods but also in terms of teaching content. Contrary to the commonly held opinion that teaching at tertiary level has not changed considerably, since it concerns adults who are already autonomous, the new teaching challenges have had an impact on tertiary education as well. Moreover, university teachers needed to face this new reality without prior preparation. The aim of this paper is to present the current pandemic-driven situation from the perspective of ESP teachers from various European countries by revealing not only some of the challenges posed by the pandemic, but also certain good practices which may become a guide for other ESP teachers. The methodology applied to inquiring this research question was a qualitative-quantitative online survey distributed among ESP teachers in European countries. The results show that online teaching during the pandemic was challenging for most respondents, at the same time offering them the opportunity to develop professionally by improving their technical skills and learning how to use online platforms, apps and tools.

The article presents the results of exploring the purposes of using digital tools to support student learning at universities. This comprises some identified types of digital tools and the frequency of their use by academic staff, which varies due to their level of digital literacy. Then the collected data is provided concerning the numbers of academic staff using basic electronic communication methods. The above data were collected in Polish and Czech universities and later compared to each other. The presented study was conducted over the period 2015–2016 within the IRNet project – International research network for study and development of new tools and methods for advanced pedagogical science in the field of ICT instruments, e-learning and intercultural competences in Poland (University of Silesia, Faculty of Ethnology and Educational Science in Cieszyn) and the Czech Republic (University of Ostrava, Pedagogical Faculty). The undertaken research was aimed at recognizing academic teachers’ activities concerning their support in university students’ learning process.

Recent years have brought intense progress in the field of the three-dimensional modeling and visualisation of the urban planning concept. Virtual models of cities and computer systems for processing them are an indispensable tool of the contemporary urban planning workshop of today. The computers with the appropriate software create other chances for the development of new analytical methods, the using of which without applying computers is practically hampered or impossible. Geoinformatics research, techniques of laser scanning using the plane and processing aerial photographs, programme new solutions increased in the computing power of computers enable the automation and considerable precipitating of the process of generating models of 3 D cities. All innovative tools are a chance for the development and creating of spatial models of reality and should be one of the bases for the decision making concerning direction of the building development. The present article has an analytical character and shows another possibility is his purpose, which apart from amendments to planning documents and legal documents, could much help at designing the areas threatened by the danger of flooding.

This paper describes the possibilities of the diachronic description of Polish inflection by the Chronofleks system and using it in academic didactics of historical linguistics classes. In new didactic seems necessary to use solutions based on new technologies that use students’ digital skills. Therefore, the observations carried out were to check the extent to which Chronofleks is helpful both in verifying the information available in academic textbooks and in the independent acquisition of knowledge by students. Three grammar issues were selected for research: Kopczyński’s rules, distribution of historic singular endings of male nouns, and ending frequency of the first person plural of verbs. The tests showed that a student can successfully learn the morphology of old Polish using the Chronofleks tool. In addition, Chronofleks allows you to implement a self-study teaching model.

The article aims to present the results of the Interreg project “DPL digital” at the Department of Slavonic Studies at the University of Greifswald and the implementation of digital tools in foreign language pedagogy on the example of Polish and Russian. The project was carried out in the seminar “Media Use in Foreign Language Teaching Didactics”. The essence of the project was to familiarize students with selected online tools that can be used in teaching foreign languages. It was conducted as part of the seminar “Use of media in foreign language teaching”, whose didactic assumption was strengthening the digital competences of future teachers through project work. Nowadays, practice-oriented media pedagogy is an integral component of teacher training and an essential prerequisite for modern teaching in schools (Bäsler 2021:431). DPL digital follows the Game-Based-Learning approach when presenting or assessing linguistic content in a playful way. Recent analyses of the use of online tools in teaching Polish as a foreign language indicate that the effectiveness of learning process in the treatment group increases by 17% (Kaźmierczak 2020:46).

Currently, digital skills have become an important factor for the development and active participation in today's information society. The article describes innovative IT methods and tools used in the education process. New technologies and new methods of conducting classes form the basis of today's education. Traditional methods have been replaced by digital tools that are perfect at the stage of educating school students in IT profiles, preparing them for vocational exams. The article compares the results of school students from vocational exams at the Technical College of Lublin with the results from the entire Lubelskie Voivodeship.
Aktualnie cyfrowe umiejętności stały się istotnym czynnikiem rozwoju i aktywnego uczestnictwa w dzisiejszym społeczeństwie informacyjnym. W artykule opisano innowacyjne metody oraz narzędzia informatyczne wykorzystywane w procesie kształcenia. Nowe technologie oraz nowe metody prowadzenia zajęć lekcyjnych stanowią podstawę dzisiejszej edukacji. Tradycyjne metody zostały zastąpione cyfrowymi narzędziami, które doskonale sprawdzają się na etapie kształcenia młodzieży szkolnej w szkołach o profilu informatycznym, przygotowujących młodzież do egzaminów zawodowych. W artykule porównano wyniki egzaminów zawodowych uczniów Technikum Informatycznego w Lublinie z wynikami uczniów z całego województwa lubelskiego.

Uwagę koncentruje się na projektowaniu parametrycznym z użyciem narzędzi cyfrowych i ich roli w architekturze XXI wieku. Artykuł przedstawia historię rozwoju parametrycznych narzędzi projektowania i ich zastosowania w projektowaniu architektonicznym. Objaśnia, czym jest projektowanie parametryczne, jakimi narzędziami może posługiwać się architekt i jakie może osiągać rezultaty. Obecnie projektowanie parametryczne stało się nowym paradygmatem estetycznym, od którego wymaga się symulowania nowego rodzaju struktur. Projektowanie parametryczne jest tu definiowane jako proces oparty na myśleniu algorytmicznym, który umożliwia wyrażanie parametrów i zasad, przez które są definiowane, kodowane i wyjaśniane związki między zamierzeniem a odpowiedzią projektową. Proces ten znajduje uzasadnienie w projektowaniu architektonicznym wtedy, gdy zachodzi taka relacja pomiędzy elementami projektu, która wymaga manipulowania informacją dotyczącą złożonej geometrii formy i jej struktury. Projektowanie parametryczne nie jest nową koncepcją i zawsze stanowiło części projektowania architektonicznego.
The paper focuses on parametric design with digital tools and their role in architecture of the 21st century. It presents the history of the development of parametric design tools and their application in architectural design. The paper clarifies what is parametric design, what tools can use the architect and what results can achieve. Today, parametric design has become a new aesthetical paradigm: architectonic requirements have stimulated the search for new types of structures. Parametric design is defined as a process based on algorithmic thinking that enables the expression of parameters and rules that, together, define, encode and clarify the relationship between design intent and design response. Parametric design is a paradigm in design where the relationship between elements is used to manipulate and inform the design of complex geometries and structures. Parametric design is not a new concept and has always formed a part of architectural design.

Several experiments combining analog design with digital parametric design have been presented, where the relationship between material properties and the designed shape of an architectural element play an important role. This approach allows to create digital material formations or to structure freeform surfaces, control their tectonics, through parametric modulation. Similar research tasks were initiated in the years 2003-2004 during the classes conducted at the Architectural Associations School of Architecture in London. In Poland, for the first time, making use of that experience, a number of similar teaching experiments were carried out in 2013 under the academic supervision of Krystyna Januszkiewicz and Mateusz Zwierzycki, at the newly established Research Laboratory of the students of the Faculty of Architecture of Poznan University of Technology.

Głównym przedmiotem artykułu są narzędzia cyfrowe, za pomocą których można badać zdjęcia, filmy i multimedia. Autor twierdzi, że dotychczasowe metody nie nadają się do badania cyfrowej kultury ( przede wszystkim wizualnej, a zwłaszcza do badania dużych kolekcji danych – zwanych big data. Jest to związane z tym, że zostały one opracowane w celu badania tzw. tekstualnego świata. W artykule zostały zaprezentowane różne programy oraz uczenie maszynowe, za pomocą których można badać: a) cechy samych obrazów, jak i to co znajduje się na poszczególnych obrazach. Autor, na przykładzie, cyfrowej analizy dwóch filmów pokazuje możliwości poznawcze współczesnych technologii informatycznych – w tym również sztucznej inteligencji. Tego typu nowe badania obrazów zalicza do humanistyki cyfrowej.
The main subject of the article are digital tools, which can be used to examine photographs, films and multimedia. The author claims that the methods used so far are not suitable for studying digital culture (primarily visual, and especially for studying large data collections - called big data. This is due to the fact that they were developed to study the so-called textual world. The article presents various programs and machine learning, with the help of which it is possible to study: a) the features of the images themselves, as well as what is in the individual images. The author, on the example of digital analysis of two films, shows the cognitive capabilities of modern information technologies - including artificial intelligence. This type of new research of images is classified as digital humanities

Proponowany tekst jest próbą uchwycenia narracji pojmowania przez współczesnych seniorów przemian technologicznych, jakie towarzyszą cyfryzacji i usieciowieniu życia codziennego. Cytowany materiał pochodzi z autorskiego projektu badawczego realizowanego na potrzeby pracy doktorskiej dotyczącej praktyk medialnych w kontekście pojęcia wytwarzania „siebie” i cyfrowej kontroli jednostki. Badania poruszyły jednak o wiele większe spectrum zagadnień, pojawiających się w zestawieniu refleksji nad narzędziami analogowymi i ich cyfrowymi odpowiednikami. Obszary analizy – w tym analizy dyskursu medialnego – odkrywają samoocenę seniorów na temat własnych kompetencji medialnych. Rozwój wiedzy nad tym zagadnieniem może w przyszłości pomóc w edukacji medialnej czy też zmniejszaniu dystansu w tzw. generation gap nie tylko w kontekście korzystania z technologii
The proposal of article is an attempt to understand the narrative how modern elders understanding this technological changes, which are related to digitization and networking of daily life. A quoted material comes from the author’s research project implemented for the needs of the my doctoral thesis concerning the media practices in the context of net „I” production and digital control. However, the research touched a much wider range of issues that arise in the combination of reflection on the analog tools and their digital equivalents. The areas of analysis – including media discourse analysis – open self-esteem of older people about their own media competences. The development of knowledge on this issue in the future may help in the media education or decrease the distance in the so-called generation gap not only in the context of technology use.

Opis:
Celem artykułu jest przybliżenie podstawowych zagadnień związanych z topologicznym podejściem do projektowania. Artykuł stanowi przegląd wybranych obiektów architektonicznych, które powstały z inspiracji matematyczną topologią. Tłem dla analizy jest krótki opis podstaw topologii oraz wpływ matematyki, komputera i kultury na inspiracje architektów. Trudno jest, bez wyraźnej deklaracji twórcy, jednoznaczne określić czy forma budynku została zaprojektowana z myślą o topologii matematycznej. Coraz więcej architektów wykorzystuje zagadnienia topologii na etapie projektowania budynku. Duży wpływ na podejście do projektowania w ostatnich dziesięcioleciach miał rozwój cyfrowych narzędzi projektowych. Pozwalają one na swobodne i ciągłe zniekształcanie formy projektowanego obiektu.
The aim of the article is to present the basic issues related to the topological approach to design. The article is a review of selected architectural objects inspired by mathematical topology. The background for the analysis is a brief description of the basics of topology and the influence of mathematics, computer and culture on the inspiration of architects. It is difficult, without the explicit declaration of the creator, to unequivocally determine whether the form of a building was designed with the mathematical topology in mind. More and more architects use topology issues at the building design stage. The development of digital design tools has had a large impact on the approach to design in recent decades. They allow for free and continuous deformation of the form of the designed object.
