    Teachers’ work is subjected to constant evaluation by students, parents, other teachers, and society. High demands in the face of changing socio-cultural, educational reality require from teachers the continuous improvement of pedagogical competences. The article raises the question of teachers’ competences acquired by the students of early school education during three years of studies. The scope and type of those competences determine pupils’ developmental change. On the basis of surveys and interviews conducted on 50 students it is possible to formulate numerous conclusions. The most important one indicates that students are comprehensively prepared and gain pedagogical knowledge that allows them to treat pupils subjectively, encourage them to take part in discussions, and organize activities with appropriate methods and forms. Other areas of responsibility may be developed and improved in the course of work.

    Opis:
    In the paper the author focuses on emotional development that is considered to be a directed and continuously improved process. Three possible directions of emotional development of adults are presented and investigated in different theoretical contexts. Each of them leads to distinct practical consequences for human life. The first one is linked to productive approach focusing on developing skills that are indispensible for successful social functioning. The two other approaches emphasize the developmental point of view. It means the aim of emotional improvement being associated with a revision of the way a human being experiences his or her own life. As a result, deep changes occur in human consciousness. Developmental approach as a part of cognitive psychology suggests the aim of emotional development is to rediscover the sense of inner unity that could clarify the direction of an individual’s actions and endeavors. Whereas developmental approach as a part of personalistic-existential psychology points to human ability to transcend the level of needs of being adapted to social expectations and to discover one’s essential values. Hence, it allows to be in control of one’s own life and further development. For that reason, the author considers the last approach to be the most valuable.

    Opis:
    Being a parent is a duty, a challenge, but also a chance for developmental changes. The role can be treated as an inspiration and opportunity for oneself to build one’s own resources enriching a parent as an adult. The article attempts to isolate the factors which are the most significant for the development of adult family members. According to the author they are: good relations between child’s parents, loving and accepting the child for who it is, giving the child space for development, emotional tie between family members, agreement and time that family members dedicate to each other in such a way that it is not a loss but a value for them.
    W treści artykułu rodzinę potraktowałam jako przestrzeń uczenia się dorosłych, a pełnienie roli rodzica jako szansę na ich rozwój. Przyjmując to założenie, wyodrębniłam najistotniejsze, moim zdaniem, płaszczyzny warunkujące zmiany o charakterze rozwojowym zachodzące dzięki pełnieniu roli rodzica. Należą do nich: – dobre relacje między małżonkami/partnerami/rodzicami dziecka; – miłość i akceptacja dziecka takim jakie ono jest; – dawanie dziecku przestrzeni do rozwoju; – więź emocjonalna między członkami rodziny; – porozumienie i czas, który członkowie rodziny poświęcają sobie w taki sposób, aby poświęcenie nie było utratą, lecz zasobem. Tłem, podstawą i spoiwem owych płaszczyzn są wartości, które przenikają wszystkie działania rodzicielskie, wyznaczają cele, chronią przed zagrożeniami płynącymi ze świata zewnętrznego i w sytuacjach kryzysów wewnątrzrodzinnych. Wychowywanie dziecka to wypełnianie powyższych płaszczyzn, dzięki któremu rodzice zyskują możliwość nabycia m.in. następujących kompetencji: – rodzice zwiększają swoją uważność na drugiego człowieka, na respektowanie jego potrzeb, co sprzyja rozwojowi ich altruizmu i dojrzałości, umożliwia bardziej wartościowe funkcjonowanie w świecie zewnętrznym; – rodzice w procesie akceptowania dziecka takim jakim ono jest napotykają na różne bariery, często tkwiące w nich samych lub w doświadczeniach wyniesionych z rodzin generacyjnych. Podjęcie trudu pokonywania tych barier jest dla nich zadaniem rozwojowym, wpływającym również korzystnie na relacje z ich rodzicami. Dostrzeganie i akceptowanie ograniczeń dziecka otwiera możliwość zaakceptowania również własnych ograniczeń oraz dania sobie prawa do nich; – rodzice uczą się lub doskonalą swoją umiejętność szanowania cudzej autonomii i respektowania granic, jakie wyznacza drugi człowiek. Kochając poszukują porozumienia, które wymaga empatii i umiejętności składających się na inteligencję emocjonalną. Chociaż dorosły człowiek funkcjonuje w wielu rolach, a każda czegoś go uczy, to uważam, że niektóre ze wskazanych przeze mnie zmian najszybciej, najskuteczniej wywołuje pełnienie roli rodzica.

    Climate change and its consequences, including rising ocean temperature and sea level rise are well scientifically documented. The changes are especially severe for coastal communities, which are estimated to have reached c. 50% of the world’s population. Using an example of the Gulf of Gdansk region, which is of European importance, due to the presence of two major Baltic ports and global tourism, we explore, how sea related threats may affect the region and we analyse how the three major cities are prepared to these threats. The four city developmental strategies and an additional document, an “umbrella strategy” focusing on climate change threats do not consider sea level rise and more frequent storm surges as threats. The sea level rise is briefly discussed in the fourth document. The adaptation plan, an appendix to the document, mentions sea level rise, but the discussion of the problem is indirect and involves some examples of adaptation actions in loosely similar environmental conditions. The adaptation plan, in fact includes a list of possible threats, rather than a detailed discussion of the suggestions of the measures to be undertaken. For comparison, we present a multilevel approach, which is effectively run in the Port of Rotterdam and argue that such approach should be undertaken in the studied region. We conclude that despite years of education on climate change, the problem is still not recognised and is underrepresented in practical measures of the studied region. We also provide hints on how to overcome this situation.
