Opis:: The aim of a current project at the Czech Language Institute, Czech Academy of Sciences, is to specify the characteristics of contemporary academic discourse with a focus on the structure of journal articles, i.e., the main components of the article(introduction – central part – conclusion) which are filled by more or less standardised steps and procedures. For example, in the introduction, the aims and topic are established, research questions are posed, the relevant literature is referred to, gapsin the previous research are indicated, and the like; and at the same time, prototypical metatextual phrases used to mark individual steps can be captured. Phrases, such as “Cílem našeho článku je upozornit na...” (The aim of our article is to drawattention to…), “Tomuto problému nebyla dosud věnována dostatečná pozornost” (This problem has thus far not received sufficient attention) will be the subject of a search using a corpus of journal articles, a comparison between Czech and English will be undertaken, and the results (in the form of a “phrasebank”) will be used in the teaching of academic writing to students at various levels. This contribution should add at least a partial historical dimension to the research – the main Czech linguistics journals “Naše řeč” and “Slovo a slovesnost” have been published since 1917 and 1935, respectively. It is thus possible to compare the structure of the articles published and the phrases used in them, e.g., during the period 1935–1940 and 80 years later, during 2015–2020. This comparison reveals some aspects of Czech academic discourse and, in the case of the most recent years, the degree to whichit is influenced by English-language academic discourse.

Opis:: Contemporary transformations of urban and metropolitan structures are associated with many different issues and can become a subject of interdisciplinary research. The purpose of this article is to discuss some of these related to the problem of shaping urban structures of the Polish cities in the light of the sustainable development paradigm principles. As the starting point for these considerations the factors deciding about the transformation of the contemporary city were adopted. As the background of these the theory of the urban development cycle – described by Klaasen – was used. On this basis the key processes and challenges associated with metropolization and reurbanization of cities were presented. In result of these considerations the final conclusions, associated with the need of elaboration and implementation of the compact city policy (as the exemplifi cation of the need of saving undeveloped spaces as the “rare good”), were elaborated.

Opis:: The key factor of Wejherowo commune development is its situation in the main layer of the urbanization of Gdański complex, based on route 6. It reflects in every aspect of commune life: social, economical, ecological, special development, technical infrastructure. It is necessary to state that in recent years because of the commune's situation in the neighbourhood of big cites, the following functions connected with its situation occurred and will be developed in the area of the commune: 1) development of one-family residential areas of suburban character, 2) development of industrial and storage-warehouse function, 3) development of recreational and tourist function for servicing, most of all one-day or weekend leisure of inhabitants of neighbouring cities, 4) development of holiday homes structure. The situation of communes in the neighbourhood of cities also causes the necessity for preservation of the function of nature protection in its area, which contributes to preserving natural resources, and in consequence, improvement of aero-sanitary conditions in cities, which simultaneously influences preservation of recreational and tourist values of the terrain.

Opis:: This article is devoted to the theoretical problems of regional development in the conditions of post COVID-19 management. The text mphasizes the fundamental nature of regional development as a new scientific field, which has its own accumulation of knowledge, based on social sciences and natural sciences. The article focuses on problems with clarifying the place of regional development in post-crisis management. It is accepted that regional development has an important role in managing territorial problems and achieving a pulling development of individual spatial areas. In this direction, the very functional role of regional development brings to the fore the need for targeted measures and policies of a socio-economic nature. Some aspects of the regional development of scientific research are also presented. Emphasis is placed on the connections of regional development with other scientific directions and its role for effective geo-urban development, local self-government and local communities.

Opis:: The article presents the relations between the legislator’s activities aimed at the formation of the agricultural system structure and the instruments for the planning and spatial development of rural areas. The agricultural system may be defined as a set of internal and external legal, economic and social relations concerning the operation of agricultural farms. Among the external relations, an essential role is played by the relations resulting from the spatial situation of agricultural farms, directly associated with the use of land and other natural resources. During the interwar period these relations were structured correctly in both the constitution and statutory law. The structure of rural space was formed with due account of the interests of not only farmers, but also other users of the space, as well as the developmental needs of urban settlements. These relations were considerably disturbed during the communist era because of the concept of agriculture socialisation, which left a permanent mark on rural space. Liberalisation of agricultural property trading as of 1 October 1990 and unavailability of appropriate instruments in planning and spatial development laws supported the harmful phenomenon of rural space being used for non-agricultural purposes. Rural space shrank against the principle of sustainable development. The amendment of the Agricultural System Structure Formation Act, made on 14 April 2016, is an opportunity to bring back the proper relations between formation of the agricultural system structure and formation of the rural space structure.
