Opis:: Firmy z udziałem kapitału obcego odgrywają ważną rolę w gospodarce, mają wpływ na wzrost inwestycji, eksportu oraz zatrudnienia. Są także nośnikiem postępu technicznego i organizacyjnego. Zarazem trzeba pamiętać, że napływ bezpośrednich inwestycji zagranicznych (BIZ) jest równoznaczny z zadłużaniem się kraju, co w określonych warunkach grozi naruszeniem zewnętrznej równowagi makroekonomicznej. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie roli BIZ w procesie rozwoju polskiej gospodarki w latach 2015–2018.
Foreign capital companies play a significant role in the economy, as they have an impact on the growth of investments, export and employment. They are also a source of technical and organisational progress. Simultaneously, we must remember that an inflow of foreign direct investments equals the country’s increasing indebtedness, which in certain conditions may disturb the external microeconomic balance. The aim of the article is to present the role of foreign direct investments in the development of the Polish economy in the years 2015–2018.

Opis:: The path of enlightenment consists imitating of Jesus by practicing the virtues, especially the supernatural ones. The condition for this development of virtues is a some purity of heart. Man has to put his passions in order and fight with his major weaknesses. Then comes self-control, order in everyday life, deep conviction of the truths of faith, and more time to talk with the Lord during prayer. To achieve this state, a Christian must to pass a process of passive purification, which leads him into the mystical life. All imperfections must be removed. Therefore, God’s intervention is needed, which is expressed through special inspirations. Then the gifts of the Holy Spirit enable us to receive them. The Christian experiences passive purifications of senses and of spirit. This state can be compared to the purification of the senses. The purification of the soul is compared to the purification of gold in a crucible. In this state, prayer develops from meditation to emotional prayer. The Christian must therefore remove the obstacles in the development of prayer.

Opis:: The aim of the paper is to verify whether a change in innovation model by less-developed regions may speed up development processes and if innovativeness plays crucial role in these processes. Cluster analysis conducted for the years 1994-2014 showed that the majority of lessdeveloped regions in 1994-2000 that experienced significant growth by 2011-2014 changed their innovation models. Logit regression confirmed that innovation factors play a crucial role in high growth rates. The findings suggest that less-developed regions can break out of path dependency by increasing their shares of high-tech industries and employment in science and technology and boosting technology transfer, which usually involves changing and improving their innovation models.

Opis:: A case study of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship is presented in this article. From the European Union's perspective, Lower Silesia is an example of a less developed region; however, it is also an example of a region that has improved significantly in regards to development due to a change in its innovation model. The purpose of this article is to identify the factors that have had an impact on the change in the region's development path (stimulants), as well as to indicate the weaknesses and barriers limiting further development. This article is based on a review of the literature, statistical data analysis as well as structured, in-depth interviews that were conducted with representatives of regional and local authorities, scientific units and business-related institutions. Recommendations for the regional policy of Lower Silesia have been formulated on this basis.

Opis:: The article presents the possibilities of development ofgeotouristfacilities in closed mining pits in the area of Sitkówka-Nowiny Commune in the Holy Cross Mts. The mining pits include historical ore and rock mining. Remains of the ore mining include both the surface and underground rests of old mine workings. They are located on the mounts of Wsiowa and Żakowa in the Zelejowskie Range, the mounts of Okrąglica, Miejska and Berberysówka in the Bolechowickie Range, and Olowianka Mount in the Zagórskie Range. Closed mining pits which are examples of rock mining include quarries in the area of the mounts of Wsiowa, Okrąglica, Olowianka, Berberysówka, Mala Jaźwica and Trzuskawica in the area of Kowala. Areas of the highest geodiversity with good prospects for the development of tourist facilities were found and described during field research. These include the mounts of Wsiowa, Żakowa, Miejska, Okrąglica, Olowianka, Berberysówka, Mala Jaźwica and Trzuskawica.

Opis:: The aim of this paper was to indicate on which stage of an economic development path is probably Poland. The subject of this paper was one of the economic development paths, named usually the investment development path, which model has been shaped mainly by J. H. Dunning and R. Narula. This model is also similar to the model of the economic development path proposed by M. Porter. Therefore, were discussed the changes in the main elements of this model, which took place in the Polish economy in 1995-2012. Those elements were the trade structure diveded by the degree of technological sophistication, direct investment and indicators of economic performance. In order to verify if in the case of Poland have been occurred economic dependences assumed by the representatives of this model also was carried out correlation and regression analysis. The results of the study suggest that Poland shifted to the third stage of analyzed economic development path where more emphasis is placed on innovations as the country moves toward producing more technology intensive products.

Opis:: Bytom is a city located in Upper Silesia, in the southern part of Poland which after World War II found itself within the boundaries of Poland after several hundred years. For many centuries, the main function of the city has been metal-ore and hard coal mining, which considerably contributed to its historical identity. The over 800-year history is full of numerous social, economic and ethnic conflicts caused by frequent changes in the city’s political affiliation and frequent redefinitions of its identity. After the collapse of communism, during the political and economic transformation, there arose a need to determine a new development path, in particular a new perspective on the heritage from the times of German dominance and from the times of communism. The mining and heavy industries have already ceased to be the basis of Bytom’s identity. Taking account of these historical rationales, this article attempts to answer the question of whether, among a number of contradictions and conflicts, the urban community of today’s Bytom, heterogeneous in terms of its origin, will be able to generate a model of cultural identity and historical remembrance accepted by all. All these complex and at the same time contradictory processes have been discussed through the prism of their reflection in the urban space and examined by means of historical analysis and contemporary cartographic and photographic sources.

Opis:: Artykuł stanowi próbę bilansu uczestniczenia krajów Europy Środkowej i Wschodniej w procesach integracyjnych w ramach Unii Europejskiej. Teoretyczną podstawę oceny dokonań ekonomicznych tworzy ścieżka rozwoju inwestycji, mocno osadzona w ekonomii międzynarodowej. Celem artykułu jest odpowiedź na pytanie, czy nowi członkowie poprawili swoją pozycję konkurencyjną po akcesji do UE, przyjmując bezpośrednie inwestycje zagraniczne jako znaczący czynnik internacjonalizacji gospodarki. Przedmiotem dociekań w części empirycznej jest konwergencja dochodu per capita ze średnim dochodem UE jako podstawa wyznaczenia IDP każdego kraju, mierzona wskaźnikiem spójności oraz analiza syntetycznego wskaźnika eksportu BIZ netto (Net Outward Investment – NOI).
The article is an attempt to present a “balance sheet” for countries of Central and Eastern Europe as considers their attendance in the EU. A theoretical basis to assess their economic achievements is being provided by the Investment Development Path (IDP), firmly embedded in international economics. The cognitive objective is the answer to the question whether newcomers improved their competitive advantages after the accession to the EU taking FDI as the significant factor of economy’s internationalization. The subject of research in order to plot the IDP are: the convergence with the UE average income per capita as grounds to plot the IDP, measured by the cohesion indicator, stocks of inward and abroad FDI, and the analysis of the Net Outward Investment.
