    Article focuses on the analysis of approaches to studying cultural capital of IT developers. Exploratory case study refers to the IT developers’ activity and focuses the cultural capital (CC) of the Ukrainian IT sector. Theoretical foundation of the study is based on the cultural capital theory referring to the value of social relations and networks. Research results demonstrate that Ukrainian IT developers accumulate CC through education: individual, in family, at school and with peers. Cultural capital could be transformed into other forms of capital: economic and social ones.

    Although the most established model of digital game development is through funding from publishers, there has been a major boost to independent game development, especially after the 2000s. This production context has specific challenges, particularly for lone developers. Some indie developers share their experiences and tips with the community using videos, and these videos illustrate the challenges and mindset around indie development of their time. This article presents a survey of good practices for lone (solo) indie developers compiled from twenty-nine YouTube videos. There are thirteen content creators who shared various tips about tools to use; ways to improve the game design of a product; ways to improve production process management and how to avoid pipeline failures during the development; recommendations on how to handle and how to manage marketing, focusing on fanbase management; advice on how to stay healthy during the process and mindset changes that are required for the development of games. The tips are compiled and a discussion is made on how they outline a dimension of the indie context and mentality of their time, and how they illustrate what are considered good practices among community members.

    Jednym z istotnych zagadnień w dążeniu firm informatycznych do poprawy konkurencyjności jest zaangażowanie zespołów programistycznych. Na takie zaangażowanie, między innymi, ma wpływ podejście liderów do współpracy z zespołami. W artykule omówiono wpływ przywództwa i posiadanego zaufania przez liderów na zaangażowanie zespołów. Zastosowano podejście systematyczne polegające na budowie modeli w języku ArchiMate. Dokonano analizy podejść w oparciu o badania literaturowe i ankietowe. Przedstawiono wstępne rozwiązania poprawiające modele i podejścia do budowy zaangażowania zespołów.
    One of the important issues of the software-house companies, is an effort to improve competitiveness, by involving development teams in the company development. Many factors can influence such commitment, one important is an appropriate approach of leaders, in which way they cooperate with the teams. The article focuses on the impact of leadership and trust held by leaders into engagement of teams. A systematic approach is applied involving the construction of models in ArchiMate language. The analysis of approaches is conducted based on literature research and carried out surveys. Preliminary solutions are presented, which may be used to improve models and approaches for building teams engagement.

    Presentation of contemporary trends in development of such residential units as peripheral housing estates in large Polish cities, as exemplified by Warsaw, is the objective of the paper. Such units are compared with their counterparts being built in Berlin. Research was carried out in three housing estates in the western part of the Bemowo District of Warsaw, i.e. Lazurowa (developer J.W. Construction), Nad Jeziorem (developer DoR Group) and Villa L'Azur (developer Bouygues Immobilier Polska). The first two were completed at the turn of 2008/2009. The third is in the final stage of construction. All three are located inside immediate city borders. Within framework of research were carried out analysis of developers' materials, cartographic materials from the City Hall as well as field research. The results were juxtaposed with research made in 2008 in Berlin.

    The paper reconstructs the ways of attributing meanings to IT specialists’ careers at BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) centers in Poland. The findings rely on empirical data, collected through autobiographical narrative interviews. The technique of analysis applied in the study was inspired by grounded theory methodology and allowed for the identification of a basic social process at the analytical stage, namely, “career planning.” On the one hand, the analysis also showed how IT specialists’ careers are given meanings concerning career planning; there seem to be three main ways of understanding one’s career in IT: (1) in terms of reaching economic and social stability, (2) as a transition period in a career as an IT specialist, (3) with regard to becoming an expert in IT. On the other hand, the second axis of analysis has been conceptualized, which is comprised of other subjective and objective elements that may shape career planning. These include the biographical experiences of work, the context of the Polish BPO industry, and career planning resources. Furthermore, a typology consisting of three ways of attributing meanings to IT specialists’ careers at BPO centers has been put forward and analyzed.

    Jednym z ważniejszych problemów funkcjonalno-przestrzennych stolicy jest jej "rozlewanie się" we wszystkich kierunkach, wzdłuż wszystkich tras wylotowych z miasta. Funkcje mieszkaniowe wokół Warszawy lokalizowane są dziś w pobliżu terenów atrakcyjnych przyrodniczo, z dala od dotychczasowego zainwestowania, często bez większego związku z otoczeniem. Artykuł przedstawia problem powstających na przedmieściach struktur zagospodarowania, składających się m.in. z rosnących jak "grzyby po deszczu" osiedli domów jednorodzinnych, lokalizowanych często w sposób przypadkowy. Problemem przedmieść Warszawy są mikroinwestycje, ponieważ nie sposób ich koordynować. Nie sposób też wymagać od małych inwestorów, aby część relatywnie niewielkiego fragmentu gruntu przeznaczonego pod osiedle rezerwowali pod obiekty usługowe, rekreacyjne, czy kulturalne. Wadą nowopowstających obszarów mieszkaniowych jest zatem ograniczanie się do samej zabudowy mieszkaniowej, bez troski o tworzenie pełnego środowiska mieszkalnego. Artykuł prezentuje ciąg przyczynowo-skutkowy prowadzący do chaosu funkcjonalnego, którego przejawy widoczne są niemal na każdym kroku. Jednym z elementów tego ciągu są deweloperzy i ich strategia działania na rynku nieruchomości. Specyfiką deweloperów kształtujących podwarszawski krajobraz jest ich niewielkie doświadczenie w realizacji inwestycji osiedlowych, a także nikła wiedza oraz świadomość tego, co w urbanistyce nazywamy ładem przestrzennym. Inną przyczyną chaosu jest zasygnalizowana w artykule powszechna postawa społeczna nastawiona na realizowanie partykularnych interesów przez grupy bądź jednostki. Opisując mechanizmy zagospodarowywania terenów wiejskich wokół Warszawy, artykuł włącza się w dyskusję nad chaotycznym rozrostem stolicy.
    This paper is a voice in a discussion about the form of the suburbs of Warsaw, the way they develop and conflicts they cause in rural areas. It presents selected results of a study on housing estates localized in rural areas, at a distance from Warsaw of one hour drive during peak hours. These conclusions are mostly based on interviews with developers and investors. The research demonstrated that there are many manifestations of spatial chaos, especially in its functional dimension. The larger the housing estate, the more new dwellers and their cars, more consumption of natural resources, increasing pollution. All these consequences because of the dominance of only one function in the land use and depletion of development reserves generate many conflicts and difficulties in daily functioning of the entire urban region. Housing estates away from build-up areas, which are often a pioneering investments, serve an additional stimulus to other investors, also individual, and other inhabitants who would like to settle in such places. In case of municipalities of Warsaw suburban zone there is a need to overcome a few development barriers at the same time. Until this happens, a permanent functional chaos can be expected. Housing estates contribute to this situation but they are not the only kind of investments responsible for this. The study highlighted the fact that in addition to legal imperfections, mostly emphasized in the literature on the subject, a major cause of spatial chaos is widespread social attitude geared to realization of the particular interests of groups or individuals. This attitude is not so much from the overall commercialization of life, but from an absence of awareness of long-term results of their own activities, as shown in interviews with developers and representatives of local authorities. Not without significance is the lack of basic knowledge and awareness among the majority of people surveyed in terms of the complexity of the phenomenon that is the spatial disorder. Without sufficient knowledge and awareness about the rational urbanization among all actors involved in shaping the space - both from government and private level - it will be difficult to continue to control further chaotic space development, not to mention the repairing the material and social consequences of what was the effect of this lack of awareness.

    Purpose – Manufacturing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have already noticed the tangible benefits offered by artificial intelligence (AI). Several approaches have been proposed with a view to support them in the processes entailed in this innovation path. These include multisided platforms created to enable the connection between SMEs and AI developers, making it easier for them to network each other. While such platforms are complex, they facilitate simultaneous interaction with several stakeholders and reaching out to new potential users (both SMEs and AI developers), through a collaboration with supporting ecosystems such as digital innovation hubs (DIHs). Design/methodology/approach – Mixed methods were used. The literature review was performed to identify the existing approaches within and outside the manufacturing domain. Computer-assisted telephonic (in-depth) interviewing, was conducted to include perspectives of AI platform stakeholders and collect primary data from various European countries. Findings – Several challenges and barriers for AI platform stakeholders were identified alongside the corresponding best practices and guidelines on how to address them. Originality/value – An effective approach was proposed to provide support to the industrial platform managers in this field, by developing guidelines and best practices on how a platform should build its services to support the ecosystem.

    Background: In the open source software paradigm, software development depends upon efforts of volunteer members that are geographically dispersed and collaborate with each other over the Internet. Communication artifacts like mailing lists, forums, and issue tracking systems are used by developers for communication. The way they express themselves through these communication channels greatly influences their productivity, efficiency of development activities, and survival of the project as well. Therefore, it is essential to understand affective state of developers’ contributions to make software engineering more effective. Aim: This study examined commit logs of seven GitHub projects to analyze developers’ sentiments. This study also investigated the relationship of developers’ sentiments in commit logs with team size of project, type of change activity, and contribution volume. Method: Sentiments of developers are calculated using SentiStrength-SE tool that is specialized in software engineering domain. Results: Our findings revealed that the majority of sentiments conveyed by developers in commit logs were neutral. Furthermore, we found that team size, change activity, and commit contribution volume influenced sentiments conveyed in commit logs. Conclusion: Our findings will help project managers to better understand developer sentiments while performing different software development tasks/activities. It will be beneficial in improving developer productivity and retention.

    The article discusses the situation of real estate developers. Their characteristics was indicated and then, mainly based on statistical data, an analysis of the market environment for their business was conducted. The focus is on the analysis of the construction market and housing. In addition, the paper synthetically describes the financial situation of listed real estate companies, which is related to the market situation.

The condition for using IP Box is to earn income from qualified intellectual property rights, as well as to conduct research and development activities by the taxpayer (to the extent that he wants to use IP Box). This relief is used primarily by entrepreneurs operating in the IT industry. The use of the relief imposes obligations on the taxpayer, including the obligation to keep records of economic events containing financial operations related to income from qualified IP.

Analizy przebiegu zmienności mocy wiatrowej w ciągu roku w krajach Europy Zachodniej potwierdzają, że teza o wyrównywaniu rozkładu generacji mocy przy powiększaniu sieci energetycznej nawet na całą Europę Zachodnią jest nieprawdziwa. Magazynowanie energii jest praktycznie niemożliwe, a ogromne subsydia przyznawane deweloperom wiatraków powodują zniekształcenia rynku energii i wzrost kosztów nie dając obniżenia emisji CO2.
    According to the data presented by German non-governmental organization Vernunftkraft, wind energy is generated non uniformly over the year, month or day and cannot be counted on for covering electric energy needs of the country. Analyses of changes of wind power during the year in European countries confirm that the thesis claiming that the lack of electrical energy generation from wind in one country can be compensated by wind electricity generation in other countries is untrue. Storing electrical energy is in practice impossible. Enormous subsidies given developers of wind energy distort energy market and result in great increase of electricity costs, without reducing CO2 emissions.
