Opis:
The aim of the paper is to determine the impact of demand and supply factors on changes in unemployment rates in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe in 2004–2013. In other words, the paper focuses on the decomposition of changes in unemployment rates in the countries studied. The analyses conducted indicate that the importance of employment rates and professional activity rates for the formation of the unemployment rates in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe in the period analysed was correlated with the state of the economy. In the times of prosperity, i.e. in 2004–2008, the strong decline in unemployment rates in all the countries was mainly due to an increase in employment rates. On the other hand, in the years 2008–2010 (the period of the global crisis) a strong rise in unemployment rates in all the countries was the result of a sharp fall in employment rates.

Opis:
Research background: The employment rate of young individuals in the labour market has considerably decreased in developed countries recently. Due to lower labour capital, skills, and generic and job-specific work experience, youth consider finding suitable job challenging. If they fail to succeed in the labour market soon after graduation, it leads to long-term unemployment, unstable and low-quality jobs, and even social exclusion. Purpose of the article: This paper aims to analyse the unemployment rate of high school-graduated students and the factors impacting this unemployment rate, such as GDP per capita, total unemployment rate, apartment price per square meter and results from state exams. Identifying the determinants affecting youth unemployment is crucial for theoretical knowledge and for policymakers to ensure youth inclusion in the economic mainstream. As a result, society can reduce social and economic costs and avoid structural problems in the future. Methods: Data about 464 Slovak high schools from National Institute for Certified Educational. Data include the graduate unemployment rate for each high school in Slovakia. Furthermore, two logistic regression models have been developed to investigate the impact of selected factors on high school graduates? unemployment rate immediately after graduation and nine months after graduation. Findings & value added: This paper indicates the existence of statistical dependency between unemployment of high school graduates and overall unemployment rate in the region, GDP per capita in the region, quality of high school education and cost of living in the region immediately after graduation. Analysis of the period nine months after graduation has shown the important decline of education quality provided by high schools. To reduce youth unemployment, the state should focus primarily on improving overall unemployment itself by implementing a dual-learning system, simplifying business opportunities, making part-time work available, or introducing lifelong learning to help transform the economy into a knowledge base.

Opis:
The aim of this article is to identify the determinants that have the greatest influence on wages in Poland between 1995 and 2014. The analysis was made using the Gretl program, which allows the verification of econometric models, in this case the model of the determinants of wages. 20-year period of the analysis will indicate trends, taking into account important occurrence of labor market development, i.e. decrease/increase of an unemployment rate, employment and labor productivity. The analysis has shown that the labor productivity had a significant impact on the average level of wages in Poland during this period, while the unemployment rate had no effect on wages. Data analysis was preceded by theoretical aspects concerning the labor market and issues related to wages.

Opis:
The unemployment level in a region and economic activity on the labour market are considered the most important determinants of individuals’ standard of living. The article aims to assess regional differences in indicators characterising the situation on the labour market depending on the selected social and demographic features of the unemployed. In order to achieve this objective, information from secondary sources, primarily statistical yearbooks and other source materials, was used. General data relating to Poland and sixteen provinces was analysed. The assessment of regional differences and the relationship between them used basic indices and ratios in the form of numerical evaluation. Coefficients of intensity, structure, variation and correlation were calculated. Differences in the level of unemployment in Polish provinces depend on such factors as place of residence, age, sex, level of education of the unemployed, seniority and duration of unemployment. Residents of provinces with a favourable situation on the labour market have a notably higher income and standard of living.

Opis:
The aim of this paper was describe the determinants of the unemployment rates in the counties of Podkarpackie voivodeship between 2003 and 2008. The registered unemployment rates were presented, together with the rates of employed in tree sectors of the regional economy: agriculture, industry and services. The author also aimed to conduct statistical analysis of the influence of diversity of employed in different sectors on the unemployment rate in counties of Podkarpackie voivodeship. The highest unemployment rates were observed in counties, where agriculture plays the major role. Contrary to this, counties located near local biggest cities like Rzeszów and Krosno and traditionally the most developed local centers like Dębica, Mielec and Tarnobrzeg were characterized by relatively low unemployment rate because these counties are industry oriented.
