The paper presents possibilities of improving design and manufacturing preparation processes of configurable (variant) products in scope of realization of mass customization strategy. Knowledge based engineering tools are presented as a base for building systems for automation of design and manufacturing preparation. Methodologies of building KBE systems are presented and described, authors’ own methodology is presented along with selected cases of its use. It is proven that reduction of time needed for design and manufacturing preparation can be vast, justifying use of KBE systems as a way of manufacturing optimization of configurable products.

Opis:
In order to take advantage of the sophisticated features offered by CAD and CAE packages for modeling and analysis during the design process, it is essential to build a bridge assuring a coherent link between these tools. Furthermore, this integration procedure must be automated so as to get rid of the repetitive costing effort. In this paper, a new automated procedure for the CAD/CAE integration, implemented for the parametric design and structural analysis of aircraft wing structures is presented. This procedure is based on the automation capacity available in modern computer aided tools via build-in basic programming languages as well as the capacity of the model data exchange. The geometric and numerical models can be controlled to generate a large variety of possible design cases through parameters introduced beforehand.

The current work is an answer to the problem of designing switched-current (SI) circuits, which is usually a complex issue in the field of microelectronics. The mentioned task is a source of many mistakes and takes a lot of time for designers, therefore authors of the article decided to propose a software solution. This article presents an environment for design automation of analogue circuits in the switched currents technique. It points out the utility advantages of the described tools, which make the work of a VLSI designer much easier, moreover offering a possibility to parameterise the design process considering power consumption, chip area usage and its working speed. It also presents results of an automatic generation of a filter pair circuit, as well as a DCT circuit - automatically generated with the proposed SI-Studio software tools.

The problem under discussion is to check whether a given system of incompletely specified Boolean functions is implemented by a logical description with functional indeterminacy that is represented by a system of connected blocks. Each of blocks is specified by a system of completely or incompletely specified Boolean functions. Simulation based and SAT based verification methods is considered. The first method simulates the structure specified by the second description on the domain of the first description. The second method formulates the verification problem as checking satisfiability of a conjunctive normal form. The results of computer investigation of the proposed methods are given.
W artykule omówiono problem sprawdzania, czy dany układ częściowo określonych funkcji Boole'owskich jest realizowany przez specyfikację logiczną z indeterminizmem funkcjonalnym. Ta specyfikacja jest przedstawiona jako system połączonych bloków, z których każdy odpowiada układowi całkiem albo częściowo określonych funkcji Boole'owskich. Rozpatrzono metodę symulacyjną i metodę bazującą na analizie spełnialności funkcji. Pierwsza z tych metod symuluje strukturę, opisaną przez drugą specyfikację, w dziedzinie pierwszej specyfikacji. Druga metoda sprowadza problem weryfikacji do problemu spełnialności funkcji w postaci iloczynu sum. Przedstawiono wyniki komputerowych badań skuteczności zaproponowanych metod.

Automatic optimization of application-specific instruction-set processor (ASIP) architectures mostly focuses on the internal memory hierarchy design, or the extension of reduced instruction-set architectures with complex custom operations. This paper focuses on very long instruction word (VLIW) architectures and, more specifically, on automating the selection of an application specific VLIW issue-width. The issue- width selection strongly influences all the important processor properties (e.g. processing speed, silicon area, and power consumption). Therefore, an accurate and efficient issue-width estimation and optimization are some of the most important aspects of VLIW ASIP design. In this paper, we first compare different methods for the estimation of required the issue-width, and subsequently introduce a new force-based parallelism estimation method which is capable of estimating the required issue-width with only 3% error on average. Furthermore, we present and compare two techniques for estimating the required issue-width of software pipelined loop kernels and show that a simple utilization-based measure provides an error margin of less than 1% on average.

W artykule przedstawiono koncepcję automatyzacji procesu projektowania urządzeń srk. Zastosowano przy tym podejście systemowe i modelowanie obiektowe obejmujące całość procesu projektowania. Podjęto próbę udowodnienia, że automatyzacja tworzenia projektu urządzeń srk jest możliwa i bardzo efektywna w zakresie wszystkich powtarzalnych, typowych i ustandaryzowanych czynności. Przedstawiono autorską koncepcję systemu automatyzacji projektowania (SAP). System opiera się na dostępnym oprogramowaniu oraz idei otwartej platformy. W systemie wdrożono szereg rozwiązań autorskich: program łączenia danych z grafiką, skrypty automatyzujące tworzenie schematów, metody pozyskiwania danych. Zaprezentowano modele: struktury, danych i działania SAP wykorzystując w tym celu język modelowania obiektowego UML. Podjęto próbę oceny efektywności wdrożenia koncepcji.
The paper presents the concept of automation of the design process for the railway traffic control devices. The system approach and object modelling, covering the whole of designing process, was applied. An attempt to prove that the automation project development of railway traffic control device is possible and that it is very effective for all repetitive, typical and standardized operations was undertaken. The authors present an original concept of system design automation (SAP). The system is based on the available software and the idea of an open platform. A number of authors’ solutions such as: a program combining data with graphics, scripts that automate the creation of schemes, methods of data collection were implemented in the system. The models such as: structure, data, and SAP activities using the object-oriented modeling language UML were presented in the paper. An attempt to assess the effectiveness of the implementation of the concept was described.

Miejskie mapy tematyczne mogę być słabo czytelne w miejscach o dużym zagęszczeniu informacji punktowej. Jednym ze sposobów przezwyciężania tego problemu jest wykonanie anamorfoz zwiększających lokalną skalę obszaru o dużym zagęszczeniu informacji. Anamorficzne przekształcenia zmiennoskalowe wykonywane mogą być metodą izotropową, opierając się na zmianie skali mapy z zastosowaniem np. reprezentacji logarytmicznej lub przez utworzenie niejednorodnego, anizotropowego przekształcenia poprzedzanego lokalną analizą rozkładu danych punktowych na odwzorowanym obszarze. W artykule podjęta została próba zastosowania wskaźnika przestrzennej gęstości zjawisk punktowych do tworzenia zmiennoskalowych anamorfoz obszarów miejskich na przykładzie mapy miasta Wrocławia. Przedstawiona procedura konstrukcji tego typu map tematycznych opracowana i przetestowana została, z wykorzystaniem wektorowej bazy danych, w środowisku GIS.
Thematic maps of cities can be weakly readable in case of high concentration of point information. One of possibilities to cope with this problem is creating cartograms (anamorphic maps), which increase local scale of area with high concentration of point symbols and decrease where this information is rare. Variable-scale cartogram transformations are made on the basis of isotropic scale changing (using eg. logarithmic representation) or heterogeneous anisotropic transformation through local analysis of point data distribution. An attempt of using points data spatial density coefficient to creating cartogram of urban area maps is shown in this paper. A map of Wrocław was chosen as a testing data. Proposed procedure of creating such thematic maps was implemented and tested using vector data in GIS environment.

This paper discusses the supposition that an architectural design is, in every case, a creative act. The problem of the work as a result of creative human labour, along with its copyright-related consequences, has become a leading theme in reporting the research. The creative aspect of professional endeavours was also raised, in this case, cost assessment. All this is presented against a backdrop of a general discussion on intellectual property while also pointing to cases of legislatively futile attempts at establishing authorship.
W niniejszym artykule podjęto kwestię domniemania, że projekt architektoniczny każdorazowo stanowił dokonanie o twórczym charakterze. Zagadnienie utworu jako rezultatu twórczej pracy człowieka wraz z prawnoautorskimi tego następstwami stało się nicią wiodącą w relacjonowaniu badań. Jednocześnie podniesiono twórczy aspekt dokonań branżowych, w tym wypadku pracy kosztorysowej. Wszystko to przedstawiono na tle rozważań ogólnych dotyczących własności intelektualnej wskazując jednocześnie na wypadki bezskutecznego z legislacyjnego punktu widzenia ustalenia autorstwa utworu.

The development of BIM technology, its dissemination and the resulting standardisation are visible globally. This technology gives access to data created during the design process, enabling their schedule, modification and analysis. The use of data is a common point with data-driven design which, in the context of this paper, is a design approach where data is the primary source of information that affects the design. Considering the characteristics of modern office buildings and their layout, a workflow using data-driven design and BIM software was created. It makes the process more efficient in terms of the time needed for selected tasks as well as the use, transfer and management of information. The paper presents solutions that standardise the input data of the type and number of rooms meeting the tenant's needs. Based on the data from the spreadsheet, using scripts, elements representing the area and other parameters of rooms are created. After the arrangement of the spaces, the creation of walls and rooms, the data is automatically transferred to the parameters of the rooms. The furniture is automatically placed using equipment standard spreadsheet data. To ensure the verification of the project's compliance with the requirements, a script was created which graphically shows the fulfilment of the conditions.

This paper presents how simulation of power system behaviour under different disturbances can be used to test protection algorithms. A method for co-simulation using Electromagnetic Transient Program (EMTP) and Simulink is presented along with the procedure used for testing protection algorithms against different power system waveforms. The advantages of model based design are described showing how a realistic model of protection relay can be designed and how individual components are integrated.

The digitalisation in the ship design sector is currently applied to the design process itself and is well defined, partially standardised and practically implemented by both independent design companies and the design departments of shipyards. The situation is similar in other sectors of engineering. However, the requirements for the digitalisation of other processes in design and engineering companies have not previously been studied, and the limited financial resources of ship design companies mean that there is a need for research on the digitalisation needs of multidisciplinary ship design companies. The implementation of building information modelling (BIM) solutions is costly for design companies and generates benefits mainly for shipyards and shipowners. The lack of benefits for design companies leads to the hesitation of managers whenever digitalisation is considered; the scope and scale of the digitalisation, as well as the selected software and BIM level, are defined by the shipyard requirements. The participation and support of management in the digitalisation process is one of the key success factors; the expected benefits caused by digitalisation for the organisation will increase the motivation of managers to invest limited resources in digitalisation. There are no data that indicate the processes with a high potential for digitalisation and the scale of expected improvements in ship design companies; therefore, research in this area was performed with a group of project managers from design and engineering companies. The research focused on collecting the opinions and experiences of the managers related to the manual management of resources and comparing the poll results with the conclusions from the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system data analyses. The paper analyses if the digital automation of the resource management process can lead to the substantial improvement of the operations of multi-project, multidisciplinary engineering ship design companies.

Automation transparency is a means to provide understandability and predictability of autonomous systems by disclosing what the system is currently doing, why it is doing it, and what it will do next. To support human supervision of autonomous collision avoidance systems, insight into the system’s internal reasoning is an important prerequisite. However, there is limited knowledge regarding transparency in this domain and its relationship to human supervisory performance. Therefore, this paper aims to investigate how an information processing model and a cognitive task analysis could be used to drive the development of transparency concepts. Also, realistic traffic situations, reflecting the variation in collision type and context that can occur in real-life, were developed to empirically evaluate these concepts. Together, these activities provide the groundwork for exploring the relation between transparency and human performance variables in the autonomous maritime context.

W artykule przedstawiono opracowanie schematu strukturalnego inteligentnego domu (ID), ogólny algorytm pracy systemu ID, a także model systemu ID na podstawie kolorowej sieci Petri, co pozwala badać dynamikę zachowania zarówno całego systemu ID, jak i wewnętrznego współdziałania jej głównych podsystemów.

The model problem of type "convection-mass-transfer" is solved for the process of cleaning of water mediums in the grainy magnetized filter material. The mathematical analysis of parameters and model of process of the magnetic sediment of admixtures was done. The system of automation of process of permanent water purification from magnetic admixtures was worked out.
W artykule rozwiązywany jest model problemu typu „konwekcyjny transport masy” dla procesu oczyszczania w środowisku wodnym w ziarnistym magnetycznym materiale filtrowanym. Opisano matematyczną analizę parametrów i konstrukcję modelu procesu osadzania zanieczyszczeń magnetycznych. Opracowano system automatyzacji procesu ciągłego oczyszczania wody z domieszek magnetycznych.
