Opis:
The article reviews various definitions of implicit derivation and conversion as applied to Danish verbs turned into nouns. The nouns are divided into classes on the basis of their derivational history and their role in the system of the language. The conversion of verb stems, a productive word-formational type in contemporary Danish, is singled out for special treatment.

The article concerns nominal derivatives referring to narcotics addicts, psychoactive substan- ces, activities and conditions related to using them as well as objects used to get under their influence. Word formation models used in the jargon of narcotics addicts generally function similarly to the productive word formation models of the common language. Among the number of nominal morphological derivatives, simple derivatives - suffixal and paradigmatic - are most common. There are not many complex derivatives (composite). The phonetic manner of forming new words can be considered a typical jargon word formation procedure. This manner includes the following phenomena: metathesis (transposition of sounds), substitution (replacement of the right sound by another one) or using the first letter instead of the word.

The aim of this paper is to prove that derivations of a C*-algebra A can be characterized in the space of all linear continuous operators T : A → A by the conditions T(1) = 0, T(L∩R) ⊂ L + R for any closed left ideal L and right ideal R. As a corollary we get an extension of the result of Kadison [5] on local derivations in W*-algebras. Stronger results of this kind are proved under some additional conditions on the cohomologies of A.

In the paper, scientific literature concerning phraseological derivation has been reviewed. Phraseological derivation is very important in developing lexical resources. Main part of the paper concerns the process of univerbation. Review of the scientific literature shows that the view of European scientists on the complex issue of correlation between phraseol-ogy and word formation in deriving words from idioms is still up to date. The aim of the research paper is to make the reader think further of the complex issue of phraseological derivation.

It is concluded, that Azzouni’s theory does not provide a satisfactory account of mathematical proof, but inspires an interesting discussion. In this paper, we place some left restrictions on derivations in CD grammar systems with phrase- structure grammars, controlled by the regular languages. The first restriction requires that every production is always applied within the first k nonterminals in every sentential form, for some $k \ge 1$. The second restriction says how many blocks of non-terminals can be in each sentential form. The third restriction extends the second restriction and says how many blocks of non-terminals with limited length can be in each sentential form. We demonstrate that under these restrictions, the grammar systems generate different families of languages. Indeed, under the first restriction, these systems generate only context-free languages. Under the second restriction, even one-component systems characterize the entire family of recursively enumerable languages. In the end, the family of languages generated by grammar systems under the third restriction is equal to the family of languages generated by programmed grammars with context-free rules without $\epsilon$- rules of nite index.

The paper is aimed at the problem of transformational word-formation meant as a dynamic process of formation of new expressions on the basis of linguistic models using entire forms of already existing expressions, which become motivated expressions that way. This problem was taken into consideration from this viewpoint often defined in linguistics as polysemy. One lexical unit was analyzed on the basis of many core glossaries and a homonym dictionary, and three was an attempt to falsify the theory of polysemy and substitute it with the theory of homonimoidality seen as a phenomenon of formal similarity of xpressions having different semantic features and retained derivational features (one of the expressions is a motivational one, another – motivated). The paper also presents a detailed description with a scheme of motivation of such lexical transformations of the entity, which is determined by a greater semantic elasticity. In the glossaries, the number of meanings for the lexical unit oscillated at 15–17 meanings but their definitions were different. The change in basic theory allowed both to distract and to order the semantic structure of homonimoids пройти.

A syntactical model of synchronic word formation description – basics and appliedThis article attempts to briefly present the basic postulates, their implications and the resulting opportunities for an approach to word formation, which is defined here as syntactic. It has been already tested in a confrontative description of Polish and Bulgarian word formation (Cf. V. Maldjieva, Słowotwórstwo. Gramatyka konfrontatywna bułgarsko polska, Vol. IX, Warszawa, 2009).The basic postulate is assumed to be the presence of a structural isomorphism between the language units sentence and lexeme, i.e. the same combinatorial rules license both the combinations of lexemes within the sentence and the combinations of morphemes within the lexeme. Another postulate, that is basic for the research, is the relative autonomy of the semantic and syntactic structures of the language units. In regard to word formation it means that, in this case semantic and formal derivatives should be distinguished in analogy to the sentence syntax, that distinguishes the concept structure (sentence) and formal structure (sentential expression).Składniowy model synchronicznego opisu słowotwórstwa – podstawy i zastosowanieArtykuł stanowi próbę zwięzłego przedstawienia podstawowych założeń i ich implikacji oraz wynikających z nich możliwości zastosowania podejścia do słowotwórstwa, które określa się w tym miejscu jako składniowe. Opis:
The article presents the organisation of a scientific text in terms of the structuralsemantic types of sentences (sentence models) used in it, based on the system of sentence models developed for this type of text. This system consists of four models:syntactic patterns with prototypical meaning assigned to them, each of which includes base sentences and transformed sentences. The analysis is preceded by a description of the transformations leading to changes in the model qualification of the sentence, underlying which are primarily the processes of semantic and syntactic derivations. After counting the base and transformed sentences – representatives of separate models occurring in the texts – the organisation of the scientific text appears as a hierarchical structure, organised around the sentences of the relational model. The next mostfrequent models in terms of frequency are the activity model, the existence model, and the characterisation model. The analysis carried out contributes to a better understanding of the syntactic layer of the text as a determinant of scientific style, thusfilling the gap in knowledge of this element of stylistic characteristics of scientific texts in the humanities.

It is shown that diminutives lose their original meaning, taking the sense of the primitive which has not survived (e.g. soleil ‘sun’ ← *sōlĭcŭlus, aiguille ‘needle’ ← *acūcŭla, while sōl and acŭs → ø). Sometimes they have been preserved next to the primitives, but with a particular meaning (e.g. chapelle ‘chapel’ ← cappella, chapeau ‘hat’ ← cappellus, while cappa → chap(p)e ‘cloak’). The purpose of the article is to point out some examples of Latin diminutives inherited in French and to characterise not only their historical development from the semantic and formal point of view, but also the evolution of their non-diminutive primitives.

This common phenomenon in English mostly occurs in the area of lexis borrowed from classical languages. The author focuses on directionality as a diachronic problem, and productivity of the process in a synchronic perspective. In order to trace the phenomenon of directionality, material from the source languages is collected chronologically. As for the phenomenon of productivity, quantitative analysis bases on attestations in text corpora and dictionaries. The Arabic lexicon is built on consonantal roots. Unlike agglutinative languages, it uses internal flexion. However, a significant part of modern Arabic scientific terminology is borrowed from Western languages, especially French and English. Extensive borrowing of this kind risks the emergence of two distinct subsets within the Arabic lexicon: a. the general vocabulary includes the words used by everyone in everyday life. This vocabulary is built on consonant roots, mainly with three consonants. Unlike French and English dictionaries, Arabic dictionaries are organized by roots and not by entries in alphabetical order. ; b. the specialized vocabulary includes the terms of scientific and technical disciplines used by specialists in their fields. This vocabulary is built on syllables like the vocabulary of European languages. This text will examine the problems of extensive register-specific lexical borrowing, and the risk of fracture that this presents.

Opis:
There is ongoing discussion about how to conceptualize the nature of the distinction between inflection and derivation. A common approach relies on qualitative differences in the semantic relationship between inflectionally versus derivationally related words: inflection yields ways to discuss the same concept in different syntactic contexts, while derivation gives rise to words for related concepts. This differential can be expected to manifest in the predictability of word frequency between words that are related derivationally or inflectionally: predicting the token frequency of a word based on information about its base form or about related words should be easier when the two words are in an inflectional relationship, rather than a derivational one. We compare prediction error magnitude for statistical models of token frequency based on distributional and frequency information of inflectionally or derivationally related words in French. The results conform to expectations: it is easier to predict the frequency of a word from properties of an inflectionally related word than from those of a derivationally related word. Prediction error provides a quantitative, continuous method to explore differences between individual processes and differences yielded by employing different predicting information, which in turn can be used to draw conclusions about the nature and manifestation of the inflection–derivation distinction.

Opis:
The derivation through exchange of prefixes (DEP) has been acknowledged as an autonomic derivation technique in Polish only in 2003, and first described in 2010. In French linguistics, it is unknown. However, an analysis of semantic and word formation structure confirms its existence. The contrastive research on this derivation technique, extended to the recent (2006-2015) derivatives, will eventually result in its more precise description and a classification of its products. Recognizing the DEP will lead to a rearrangement of the whole word formation system, among other things, because many derivatives thus formed were treated as simply prefixed ones. The comparison of how the DEP functions in non- related languages will bring us closer to an answer to the question: Can the semantic regularities of the DEP and its rules be universal for the indo-European languages?
