Wykłady z napędu elektrycznego oraz prostowników na Wydziale Elektrycznym znalazły się już w pierwszym opublikowanym Programie Politechniki Śląskiej na rok akademicki 1946/47. W pierwszej części artykułu przedstawiono usytuowanie napędu elektrycznego w programach studiów w pierwszym okresie funkcjonowania Wydziału. Przedstawiono także sylwetki wykładowców napędu elektrycznego w tym okresie, profesorów Jana Obrąpalskiego, Zygmunta Gogolewskiego, Jerzego Siwińskiego. W drugiej części przedstawiono historię Katedry Energoelektroniki, Napędu Elektrycznego i Robotyki, oraz omówiono wpływ profesora Zygmunta Kuczewskiego na wytyczenie kierunków badań i dydaktykę w zakresie napędu elektrycznego i energoelektroniki.
Lectures on electric drive and rectifiers were already included in the first published curriculum at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology for the 1946/47 academic year. The first part of the article presents the positioning of the electric drive in the study programs and the thematic scope of the lectures on drive in the first period of the existence of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. Also presented are the profiles of the lecturers of the electric drive in that period, professors Jan Obrąpalski, Zygmunt Gogolewski, Jerzy Siwiński. The second part presents the history of the Department of Power Electronics, Electric Drive and Robotics, as well as the influence of Professor Zygmunt Kuczewski on setting directions and on the development of research and teaching activities in the field of electric drives and power electronics. The development of some of the research and teaching laboratories established at that time were characterized. The last part of the article briefly discusses the subject of research conducted by the employees of the Department and the development of the teaching base in the last 30 years.

This text deals with the issue of Comenius’s idea of education. This idea is used for gaining the space “in-between”, the difference to our own way of pedagogical thinking insofar as it starts from the modern sciences with its inherent metaphysics. Then we are trying to elucidate some of Comenius’s essential principles that could inspire our schools and education. We are keen to argue that it must be the idea of education that rules, and not the organization or the process of education.

The History of Education, one of the courses offered at teacher education studies at the University of Szczecin, has been taught since the 1960’s. It was then when Teacher Education College in Szczecin was set up as a branch of Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań. In 1973 Teacher Education College was transformed into an independent unit – Pedagogy Academy. The establishment of the University of Szczecin in 1985 marked a new chapter in the process of the development of the history of education as a course offered at pedagogical studies. History of Education Department was set up in 1992 and professor Danuta Koźmian was chair of the department throughout its existence. Scientific and didactic work of professor Danuta Koźmian first at Teacher Education College, through Pedagogy Academy and the University of Szczecin has been crucial for the development of the history of education as a course taught at teacher education studies in Szczecin. In 2008 professor Danuta Koźmian retired and the Council of the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Szczecin established the Chair for the History of Education appointing professor Wiesław Andrukowicz, Ph.D its head.

W strukturze administracji państw tzw. demokracji ludowej utworzono z inspiracji Kremla wyspecjalizowane podmioty, które odpowiadały za planowanie, koordynację i realizację polityki wyznaniowej. Ponieważ – niezależnie od lokalnych uwarunko- wań – zakres ich kompetencji był właściwie tożsamy (dotyczyło to także podstawowego celu, czyli dążenia do zniszczenia, względnie podporządkowania państwu instytucji wyznaniowych), miały podstawy do rozwinięcia między sobą współpracy instytucjo- nalnej. Artykuł przybliża kulisy nawiązania formalnych relacji przez polski Urząd do spraw Wyznań z jego odpowiednikami w państwach Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej: Czechosłowackiej Republice Socjalistycznej, Węgierskiej Republice Ludowej i Niemieckiej Republice Demokratycznej. Unaocznia, że początkowo nie należały one do owocnych, zwłaszcza na tle ożywionych kontaktów między resortami wyznaniowymi czechosło- wackim i węgierskim. Sytuacja pod tym względem zmieniła się w drugiej połowie lat pięćdziesiątych XX w. Wizyty, rewizyty i międzynarodowe spotkania z udziałem pracow- ników administracji wyznaniowej państw bloku wschodniego pozwalały na wymianę doświadczeń oraz projektowanie polityki wobec Kościołów i związków wyznaniowych, nawet w skali globalnej.
I n the administration structure of the states within the so-called people’s democracy, specialized bodies were created on the initiative of Kremlin to take care of planning, coordinating and implementing the policy on religious denomination. Because the scope of their competences was equivalent as a rule, irrespective of local circumstances (this also referred to the main goal, i.e. striving to destroy or subordinate religious institu- tions to the state), they had a basis to enter into institutional cooperation between each other. The article presents the real story behind the establishment of formal relations between the Polish Office for Religious Denominations and its counterparts in the sta - tes of Central and Eastern Europe: the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic, the Hungarian People’s Republic and the German Democratic Republic. It reveals that they were not fruitful at the beginning, particularly if compared with intensive contacts between the Czechoslovak and Hungarian departments for religious denominations. The situation changed in the second half of the 1950s. Visits, revisits, international meetings with the participation of employees of the administration for religious denominations of the states of the Eastern Block made it possible to share experiences and formulate a policy towards Churches and religious associations, even globally.

Between 2013 and 2016 the Department of the History of Education at the Faculty of Education (University of Warsaw) carried out research on the pedagological thought of the 19th and 20th centuries. It was mainly centered on the pedagological legacy of Aniela Szycówna (1869–1921), Iza Moszczeńska (1864–1941), Jan Hulewicz (1907–1980), Anna Mońka-Stanikowa (1917–2007) and Anna Radziwiłł (1939–2009). It is worthwhile to start investigating other personas that shaped the Polish education, as well as the legacy of other pedagogues who addressed educational problems in their research. Without doubt, such studies require investigating sources. Information can be found, for example, in articles published in educational journals, such as Przegląd Pedagogiczny, Kwartalnik Pedagogiczny (published at the beginning of the 20th c.), along with more recent periodicals focused on education and its history.

The paper presents the essence of the education for safety. There were analyzed both theoretical issues and curriculum of the education aimed at matters related to widely understood safety in the system of public education as well as system of education in the Ministry of the Interior and Administration. Analysis of the theoretical aspects as well as of the practice proves that education for safety is successful. The society is educated in the necessary scope and therefore protected from a broad range of threats. Officers of the uniformed services are also educated in the scope sufficient for a professional fulfillment of the statutory duties. Such broad scope of safety knowledge allows the society to feel relatively secure. Such a sense of security is also contributed by the fact that this education continues to evolve and that main determinants of it are history, culture, traditions, geographical location, needs and challenges – so in fact potential threats, which in turn affects the process of education, attitudes, as well as the awareness.

In their article, the authors discuss ten audits conducted between the beginning of the 1990s and the year 2015 by the NIK Department of Science, Education and National Heritage. These audits are worth discussion due to several numerous reasons. The three of them are related to the quality of the law made at the beginning of the political transformations, whose deficiencies we have to face until now, the origins of the public radio and television in the new organisational and legal format, and the shaping of the media order in the light of the mandate of the National Broadcasting Council (Polish: KRRiT). The audit of the preparedness for UEFA Euro 2012 was unique because it lasted four years – before the tournament and due to its impact on the proper preparations for the championship. The other audits discussed in the article are concerned with the issues that were of key importance at the time, related to the state’s activity and effective spending of public funds.

W artykule zaprezentowano działania, które podejmowane są w Zakładzie Przedsiębiorczości i Gospodarki Przestrzennej Instytutu Geografii Uniwersytetu Pedagogicznego w Krakowie na rzecz edukacji przedsiębiorczości i wskazują na dużą aktywność Zakładu w tym zakresie. Przedstawiono je na tle przesłanek powstania Zakładu i problematyki badawczej podejmowanej przez jego pracowników. Działania te związane są przede wszystkim z organizowaniem corocznych konferencji z zakresu przedsiębiorczości oraz zjazdów nauczycieli przedsiębiorczości, wydawaniem rocznika naukowego „Przedsiębiorczość - Edukacja”, wdrożeniem programów studiów oraz specjalności z zakresu przedsiębiorczości, w tym dla celów kształcenia i dokształcania nauczycieli, opracowywaniem programów i podręczników szkolnych oraz akademickich, analizowaniem i opracowywaniem propozycji zapisów podstawy programowej oraz podejmowaniem innych prac eksperckich na rzecz oświaty i rozwoju przedsiębiorczości, a także realizacji krajowych i międzynarodowych projektów badawczych i edukacyjnych. Efekty tej działalności, która ma w znacznej części charakter aplikacyjny, znalazły zastosowanie w praktyce szkolnej i akademickiej.
The article presents the activities undertaken at the Department of Entrepreneurship and Spatial Management, Institute of Geography, Pedagogical University of Cracow for entrepreneurship education. These are shown against the background and rationale of the Department creation and research issues carried out by its employees. These activities are mainly related to the organisation of annual conferences on entrepreneurship and conventions of entrepreneurship teachers, the issue of the scientific yearbook “Entrepreneurship - Education”, the implementation of study programs and specialisations in the field of entrepreneurship, including for the purposes of education and training of teachers, development of school curricula and textbooks, analysing and developing proposals for the core curriculum and undertaking other expert work for the education and development of entrepreneurship, as well as the implementation of national and international research and educational projects. Activities for entrepreneurship education outlined in the article indicate a high activity of the Department in this regard. Effects of this activity, which has in large part an application character, have been applied in school and academic practice

This article analyses the activity of Stado Prusa, a group of photography students established at the then Department (currently, Faculty) of Photography at the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts in Poznań (UAP). The group (Marek Noniewicz, Paweł Kula, Maciej Krych, and others) was active for only three years and did not survive long after its members’ graduation. The author describes their mode of operation as grouping and studies the institutional context (the education system, the master-disciple relationship) behind their activity. This is an interesting case. On the one hand, Stado Prusa represented a critical and anarchistic attitude towards university as educational institution and its artistic aspirations. On the other hand, the group met and was formed at the university whose lecturers also had an influence on its members. The text explores what conditions are necessary for such social and artistic initiatives to survive. The unfolding analysis is based on the memories and archival materials of the Stado Prusa members.

The article presents the transformation of the education system in the days of the Commission of National Education in the area of the Commonwealth’s south-eastern borderlands, ie the then provinces of Bratslav, Kyiv, Podolia and Volhynia, in the geographical, political and administrative context. Owing to their diversity in social, ethnic and religious terms and their distant location, these regions were particularly neglected in the Polish scholarly literature dealing with education. In 14 secondary schools operating within the Ukrainian and Volhynian Departments, students were being taught first by former Jesuits and Basilians and by secular teachers, graduates from the Crown Main School, thereafter.

The article on the education system in the Navahrudak Department presents various aspects of the work of the Commission of National Education’s institutions and people included in the book of our authorship. This publication is meant to be of an analytical, synthetic nature. On the one hand, it is based on the analysis of source materials; on the other, it refers to studies depicting the Commission’s achievements in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the work of the schools under its authority in this area, including the Navahrudak Department. The Navahrudak Department was formally established by the Commission of National Education in 1783 in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania to cover the area of the provinces of Navahrudak, Minsk and part of Polotsk, which had lost part of its lands, captured by Russia, following the First Partition of Poland. The department was to be home to an academic department school in Navahrudak, subdepartment schools in Babruysk, Khalopyenichy, Minsk, Mazyr, Nyasvizh, Slutsk and Juravičy as well as monastic schools in Luzki (Piarist Order), Ushachy (Dominican Order), Berezvech (Basilian Order) and Dzisna (Franciscan Order), all of which received the status of subdepartment schools. The department was also home to parochial schools over which the Commission sought to assume authority that played a certain part in the spreading of education among peasants as well as making education available to landless nobles, who were numerous in Lithuania.

Opis:
The main purpose of this paper is to present commonly occurring trend in international relations, which is building diplomacy by the state in the formula of the new public diplomacy, where education has a vital importance, especially in its international, digital release. For this purpose we analyse cyberdiplomacy solutions of the leader in this activity –the United States. To give the global nature of its educational and diplomatic activity, the United States have used cyber tools (education online platform, massive open online courses - MOOCS), which resulted in the achievement of strategic objectives of the state thus strengthening the country's position in the international arena.
Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie powszechnie występującej tendencji w stosunkach międzynarodowych jaką jest budowanie dyplomacji przez państwa w formule nowej dyplomacji publicznej, w której istotne znaczenie odgrywa edukacja, szczególnie w jej międzynarodowym, cyfrowym wydaniu. W tym celu zostały przeanalizowane cyberdyplomatyczne rozwiązania lidera tej aktywności, czyli Stanów Zjednoczonych. Aby nadać globalny charakter swojej edukacyjno-dyplomatycznej aktywności, USA wykorzystały cybernetyczne narzędzia (edukacyjne platformy online, powszechne otwarte kursy edukacyjne – MOOCS), które przyniosły efekt w postaci osiągania strategicznych celów państwowych przysługując się tym samym wzmocnieniu pozycji kraju na arenie międzynarodowej.

The article presents the researchers and didactic workers who substantially contributed to the scientific and didactic development of the Department of Early Childhood Education and Media Pedagogy. Throughout 40 years of activity, the Department, as a unit being a part of Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology of the University of Silesia, has cooperated with many prominent figures from regional, national and foreign academic centers. Currently, the Department implements an intensive research programme, takes part in the doctoral and postdoctoral promotions as well as successfully undertakes the education of students specializing in teaching
In dem Beitrag werden Profile des Forschungs- und Lehrpersonals vorgestellt, die zur wissenschaftlichen und didaktischen Entwicklung des Lehrstuhls für frühkindliche Bildung und Medienpädagogik der Schlesischen Universität in Katowice wesentlich beigetragen haben. Während seiner vierzigjährigen Tätigkeit arbeitete der Lehrstuhl mit vielen herausragenden Wissenschaftlern aus regionalen, inländischen und ausländischen akademischen Zentren zusammen. Derzeit betreibt er ein intensives Forschungsprogramm, unterrichtet Studenten im Lehrerberuf und nimmt an Promotionen zum Doktor und habilitierten Doktor teil.

The centenary of the establishment of the Department for the History of Polish Culture at the Jagiellonian University is a good opportunity to recall the scientific achievements in this discipline. In Galicia, in the second half of the 19th century, research on the history of education, literature and culture was conducted at the Academy of Arts and Sciences, founded in 1872, and the Jagiellonian University, where Stanisław Tarnowski, Ignacy Chrzanowski, Kazimierz Morawski, Józef Szujski, Wacław Szujski, Antoni Karbowiak, Jan Ptaśnik, Jan Leniek and others delivered lectures. However, it was not until Stanisław Kot’s scientific activity that he was appointed associate professor at the Department for the History of Polish Culture at the Jagiellonian University in 1920. His seminar on the history of culture has enjoyed significant popularity and was attended by students of various political orientations and national identities. Between 1925 and 1939, Kot promoted 22 doctors and four of his students obtained habilitation. Due to his political involvement, the Sanation authorities, introducing a new law on academic schools in 1933, decided to abolish his chair. After the Second World War and a short diplomatic episode as an ambassador in Rome from 1945 to 1947, Kot remained in exile. In Kraków, research on the history of culture and education was continued by his students, Henryk Barycz and Jan Hulewicz. The administrative and human resources structure of their teams was changed several times. In 1971, the Department for the History of Education and Culture was established. After Barycz’s retirement, it was consecutively managed by Jan Hulewicz, Kamilla Mrozowska, Renata Dutkowa, Julian Dybiec, Andrzej Banach and Krzysztof Stopka. Currently, the entity bears the name of the Department for the History of Culture and Education. Its six employees carry out extensive research in the fields of cultural history, the history of science and education as well as the history of Polish Armenians.
