Ce travail examine le fonctionnement des pronoms démonstratifs neutres du français devant les subordinnées de type relatif. Il montre les différences de comportement de ce par rapport aux formes cela, ceci, ça , en détaillant les modes d'acquisition du sens et de la référence de ces termes, et établit que ce  est un pronom défini non démonstratif, avec des évolutions dans les usages.
This work deals with the construction of relatives and cleft clauses that follow a demonstrative pronoun in French. It examines their mode of acquisition of meaning and reference, either by referential increase obtained by predicative interactions and lexical meaning, or by the process of focusing on a referent in the situation or context. We show that the original pronoun ce is no longer demonstrative in all these structures, and how the various demonstratives are used in actual French in those contexts.

The definite article in the Modern Nordic languages is a suffix, etymologically related to a demonstrative. The form is not attested in runic inscriptions, the oldest linguistic sources, but first appears in Icelandic sagas as well as in Swedish and Danish legal codices from 13th century onwards. However, in these texts it does not appear with the same regularity as in modern languages.The Old Swedish form constitutes an intermediate form between a demonstrative, from which it is derived, and the article it has become in Modern Swedish. In the oldest texts it appears in contexts where demonstratives can only be found sporadically and its form suggests it no longer is a demonstrative. At the same time it is not yet obligatory.The aim of this paper is to show the grammaticalization of the definite article as a gradual, dynamic process, involving changes in the form and functional scope of the grammaticalizing item and to consider the properties of the Old Swedish form -in, derived from the distal demonstrative hin ‘that’.

According to Kaplan’s bidimensional theory of demonstratives, the descriptive content of any indexical term (and the sentences they appear in) is only employed to determine its reference in any possible world rigidly but cannot be expressed by the sentence’s truth conditions. Kaplan then argues that an indexical sentence’s informativeness depends on what he calls its character, a property of the context that relates a particular context to a concrete content, but it cannot be a part of the proposition the sentence entertains (its content), primarily given the logical inconsistencies the opposite would show in the theory of conditionals and counterfactuals. I agree with Kaplan that indexicals should not be considered disguised descriptions. Nevertheless, I believe that their content is informative and, therefore, part of the proposition these sentences express, even though that implies accepting the existence of content shifting operators within the same context --what Kaplan dubbed monsters. This paper, therefore, presents an alternative account to indexical terms and sentences employing the Interactive Theory introduced in Colomina-Alminana (2022). This approach considers that the meaning of any sentence, the proposition it expresses, depends upon three interrelated factors: the speaker’s intentions when uttering, the audience’s potential uptakes of such statement, and the conventions established by the speech community both speaker and audience belong, or the linguistic interaction takes place. The critical element is the so-called speaker's point of view, an objective perspectival networking background that allows lexical and syntactic mechanisms to trigger and update potential conceptual presuppositional content shared by both speaker and audience and whose existence is prior to any context and circumstances.

Le espressioni deittiche sono tutte le unita linguistiche che indicano la localizzazione di un oggetto nello spazio e nel tempo. Ogni lingua si caratterizza per l’altra struttura deittica dipendente da vari fattori linguistici ed extralinguistici. L’analisi dei fattori che condizionano i sistemi deittici dell’italiano, dello spagnolo e del polacco dimostra vari problemi legati alla traduzione di questo tipo di costruzioni linguistiche e propone distinti modi di risolverli.
The deictic expressions are linguistic units that indicate the localization of an object in time and space. Every language is characterized by different deictic structures that depend on various linguistic and extralinguistic factors. The analysis of the factors that determine the deictic systems in Italian, Spanish and Polish demonstrates various problems associated with the translation of that kind of structures and offers different ways of solving them.

The main contention of this essay is that sciences can be seen as belonging to two broad categories: a) demonstrative; b) interpretative. Demonstrative, or «tough», sciences are «natural» sciences; interpretative sciences are philosophy, history, all the social sciences, different as thy are (for instance, history is based on causal imputation; sociology, on conditional comparative approach). At present all sciences cannot presume to offer universally valid «laws», timeless and spaceless, but only general, probabilistic tendencies. Moreover, contrary to a misconception Max Weber’s «Wertfreiheit», no science is neutral. It pertains to the social responsibility of scientists the pratical use of eventual scientific findings (for instance, the atomic or the hydrogen bomb).

Translation equivalence of demonstrative pronouns in Bulgarian-Slovak parallel textsIn this paper we describe our automatic analysis of several parallel Bulgarian-Slovak texts with the goal to obtain useful information about Slovak translation equivalents of (definite) articles and demonstrative pronouns in Bulgarian. Rather than focusing on individual translation equivalents, we present a method for automatic extraction and visualization of the translations. This can serve as a guide for pinpointing interesting features in specific translated documents and could be extended for other parts of speech or otherwise identifiable textual units.

Artykuł powstał jako wynik projektu pt. „Gospodarstwa demonstracyjne efektywnym instrumentem transferu wiedzy i innowacji w rolnictwie” realizowanego w CDR w Brwinowie i współfinansowanego ze środków” KSOW – PROW na lata 2014-2020. Celem pracy było wypracowanie założeń do budowy Sieci Gospodarstw Demonstracyjnych umożliwiających promowanie i pełne wykorzystanie potencjału do transferu wiedzy i innowacji podmiotów zaangażowanych w działania demonstracyjne. Zawiera podstawowe informacje i wskazówki, które mogą ułatwić włączenie się ośrodków doradztwa rolniczego w organizowanie, koordynowanie proinnowacyjnych przedsięwzięć upowszechnieniowych na terenie województw, a tym samym w skali kraju. Wypracowane wskazówki, kryteria i wytyczne mogą być wykorzystane w tworzeniu gospodarstw demonstracyjnych i sieci gospodarstw demonstracyjnych na terenie województw i całego kraju. Prace koncepcyjne realizowane były w trakcie trzech dwudniowych warsztatów z udziałem rolników (w tym prowadzących gospodarstwa demonstracyjne), doradców, pracowników instytutów badawczych i uczelni rolniczych.
The article arose as the result of the project titled ‘Demonstrative farms as an efective instrument of knowledge and innovation transfer in agriculture’ realized in Agriculture Advisory Centre in Brwinów and co-financed from KSOW-PROW funds for years 2014-2020. The aim of the project was to work out some assumptions in order to build the National Network of Demonstrative Farms enabling promotion and full usage of potential in knowledge and innovation transfer of entities engaged in demonstrative activities. It contains some basic information and indications which can facilitate the inclusion of agricultural advisory centres in organisation and coordination of pro-innovation and dissemination activities in the area of voivodships and, thereby, in the national scope. The set of the assumptions, criteria and indicators can be used in making relations in demonstartive farms creation and the network of demostrative farms in the area of counties and the entire country. The conception works were fullfilled during three two-day workshops with farmers participation (including those who lead some demonstrative farms), advisors, reasearch institute employees and agicultural universities.

The two extant versions of Gorgias’ Peri tou mē ontos (PTMO) have been preserved by an anonymous author (MXG) and by Sextus Empiricus (S.E.). Both versions have been differently interpreted by scholars who examine either the doctrine or the rhetorical-communicational dimension (the first option being dominant). When comparing the PTMO with the rest of Gorgias’ works, the present paper aims to demonstrate that S.E. offers a more precise account of Gorgias’ modus argumentandi. Thus, S.E. shows the following, typical features of Gorgias’ demonstrative reasoning: 1) application of demonstrandum and quod erat demonstrandum, 2) continuous employment of reductio ad absurdum and 3) a refined formulation of the principle of non-contradiction (similar to the one in Pal. 25). The MXG, on the other hand, is accurate in the discussion of particular arguments (e.g. the third kephalaion), but presents an interpreter who is more interested in questioning Gorgias rather than doing justice to his thought. Hence, this article concludes that it was S.E., who had the text or at least a relatively accurate summary of the PTMO.

Niniejszy artykuł omawia składniowy status polskiego zaimka wskazującego ten w ramach teorii gramatykalizacji. W pierwszej części artykułu zostały ustalone kryteria formalne (morfoskładniowe) i semantyczne pomocne w odróżnianiu zaimków wskazujących od przedimków. Następnie przedstawione zostały argumenty potwierdzające status zaimka wskazującego omawianego elementu. Ostatnia część artykułu jest poświęcona przedimkowym właściwościom zaimka ten. Pomimo że podstawową funkcją tej części mowy jest funkcja zaimka wskazującego, artykuł pokazuje, że ten zdradza również cechy przedimkowe szczególnie w potocznym języku polskim.
The paper discusses the syntactic status of the Polish demonstrative pronoun ten ‘this’ in the light of grammaticalization theory. The discussion begins with establishing formal (morphosyntactic) as well as semantic criteria for discriminating between articles and demonstratives. Then it reviews arguments for the demonstrative status of ten put forward in the literature. The paper ends with providing evidence for the definite article status of ten. Although the primary function of ten is still that of a demonstrative pronoun, it reveals some traces of categorial change on the grammaticalization cline in spoken Polish.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the discursive construction of persuasiveness in media language on the basis of the genre ‘film review,’ which is relatively rarely analysed. Thanks to a study of eighty reviews for three popular French comedies “Intouchables” (2011), “Qu’est-ce qu’on a fait au Bon Dieu?” (2014) and “Le sens de la fête” (2017) several invariant persuasive traits of this kind of discourse can be described in the context of its demonstrative (epideictic) and deliberative (legislative) dimensions. These dimensions exploit the rhetorical parameters of movere and delectare related to the conative function of language combined with the phatic one. Since the use of the mentioned strategies stems from the need for film reviewers to attract and convince the addressee to see a film or not, they reflect some persuasive techniques of advertising discourse, which aim to influence one’s will and decisions. Therefore, the paper elaborates on a set of discursive strategies of persuasion (DSP), leading to dynamise and dialogise the discourse in order to reinforce or weaken the addressee’s attitude towards the presented film by means of evaluative lexis including colloquial expressions, superlatives, questions and appellative-directive forms. All these elements refer to shared values, connotation, presupposition, and the identification relationship in order to ‘lock’ the addressee in the discursive universe created by the addresser.

From the logical point of view, the most interesting among the pronouns are demonstrative pronouns (especially: this/that), indefinite pronouns (a/an), definite pronoun (the) and quantifying pronouns (every, all, some). Unlike personal pronouns (e.g. I/you/he) they are in fact functors (of the n/n category). The differentiation between personal pronouns (n) and functor pronouns (n/n) is vital here. This differentiation does not exist in traditional grammar. The study is limited to determining functor pronouns with the use of logical properties of quantifying expressions, which are functor pronouns themselves – all (n) and some (cr) – formally expressed in the quantifier-less calculus of names (BRN). The calculus is properly enriched with demonstrative pronouns (demonstrativa), in connection to certain studies by Toshiharu Waragai (LID). An attempt to employ this system (BRND) in the analysis of some fragments of Ockham’s Summa Logicae is shown here. The work is concluded with the analysis of a functor pronoun the only (t), being a special case of a definite pronoun, which is characterised here by means of rules. The work reveals the connection between this pronoun and the operator of definite descriptions (marked in the same way) in relation to a certain Ludwik Borkowski’s conception.

The paper proves that the problem of aggressive behaviour of schoolchildren under the conditions of nowadays life is of a particular importance so far as pedagogical experience confirms that the tendency to increasing of the aggression level among the children of school age are observed; this influences on their relations with parents, teachers, age-mates and causes discomfort for them and also some difficulties in the process of study. According to scientific resource a child lives, acts, feels, thinks, speaks, imagines, remembers in the state of aggression. Long-lasting aggressive state can influence specifically on the way of its thinking (depression, paranoic manifestation etc.), on the development of imagination (drawing of fights, war, fire etc.), on speech (speaks rudely, insultingly, arrogantly etc.) and in general on the personality. The presence of aggression in the child's behaviour always makes great difficulties during communication but the aggressive tendencies should not be appraised only as negative. Aggression can increase on the background of increasing the child's activeness as well as decrease. It can manifest situatively in all children and it's not always indicates the disorder regarding a personality sphere of a child. So aggression can help a child to develop the initiaitve soul. But also it can provoke isolation and hostility. In our research work we are trying to observe the problem of children's aggression catholicly that is why we be carrying out the research in its different spheres: "I-Personality", "I – in the family", "I – in the society". We also have predicted that the comparative analysis of modelling peculiarities of the aggressive behaviour will allow us to discover common and different qualities of aggression manifestation in children with typical development and disordered speech. The materials of the research of the constatation phase will help to determine the directions of compensation and correction of the marked-out states and to form the studying-preventive technique for junior schoolchildren due to them. The analysis of the results of scientific works systematically and logically combines the features of its carrying, diagnostic tools of aggression and evaluation criteria of qualities of completing tasks into a modified "Plot and situational-illustrated" technique which is aimed at the study of aggression in primary school children with different levels of speech development in three main aspects of the study: "I – in the family," "I – in the society" and "I-Personality". The analysis of scientific and methodological sources allowed us to distinguish three types and six subtypes of aggression, and to identify their symptoms: the self-regulated type included the controlled subtype and the competitive subtype; the latent type – the defence subtype and the depressive subtype; the behavioral type – the demonstrative subtype and the physical subtype. The peculiarities of modelling of aggressive behaviour types in primary schoolchildren with typical psychophysical development, with phonetic disordered speech (PhDS), phonetic-phonemic disordered speech (PhPhDS) and mildly manifested general speech disorderes (MMGSD) are discovered.

The paper deals with some contact phenomena in grammar typical of the ascendant dialects, which were inherited by two Czech and one Polish immigrant patois spoken in Russia. The Czech patois are located in several villages near Novorossiysk and Anapa in the Northern Caucasus and also in the Middle Irtysh area of the Omsk Region, the Polish (Masovian) one in the Krasnoyarsk Region and in the Republic of Khakassia.These patois show relatively good preservation of their original dialectal systems, including not only old lexical borrowings from German, but also grammatical features that appeared as a result of the longtime contact of West Slavic dialects with German in central and northeastern Europe. At the same time the systems of the examined patois as a whole, as well as their elements of contact origin, have been strongly influenced by their East Slavic language surroundings, most of all by the Russian language. The author concludes that set and functioning of the analyzed borrowed units or structures and contact features in Czech and Polish dialects although partly similar, differed somewhat. It depended on the speakers’ relative tendencies to personalize and give detail; it also depended on the features sentence construction observed in both languages.

Opis:
This article argues that, strictly speaking, from its inception with the ancient Greeks and for all time, philosophy and science are identical and consist in an essential relationship between a specific type of understanding of the human person as possessed of an intellectual soul capable of being habituated and a psychologically-independent composite whole, or organization. It maintains, further, that absence of either one of the extremes of this essential relationship cannot be philosophy/science and, if mistaken for such and applied to the workings of cultural institutions, will generate anarchy within human culture and make leadership excellence impossible to achieve. Finally, it argues that only a return to this “common sense” understanding of philosophy can generate the leadership excellence that can save the West from its current state of cultural and civilizational anarchy.

Opis:
Since most pressing today on a global scale is to be able to unite religion, philosophy, and science into parts of a coherent civilizational whole, and since the ability to unite a multitude into parts of a coherent whole essentially requires understanding the natures of the things and the way they can or cannot be essentially related, this paper chiefly considers precisely why the modern world has been unable to effect this union. In so doing, it argues that the chief cause of this inability to unite these cultural natures has been because the contemporary world, and the West especially, has lost its understanding of philosophy and science and has intentionally divorced from essential connection to wisdom. Finally, it proposes a common sense way properly to understand these natures, reunite them to wisdom, and revive Western and global civilization.
