    Opis:
    This paper presents decision problems which occur in designing database architecture for the assessment of logistics services. In the work, it was emphasized that the key stages in database design is to define a database model comprising a set of rules that characterize the structure of data in the database and a list of operations that can be performed on the data entered into the database. Research presented in the article is conducted as part of the project on the European Portal of Logistics Services (EPLOS) implemented on the basis of an agreement with the National Center for Research and Development under the EUREKA program. As part of the research carried out as part of the project, the principles of functioning of distributed architecture were developed and evaluated for the services offered by carriers or logistics operators operating on the international market. These include operators providing air services, international road, intermodal, sea transports, etc. The article indicates that the purpose of the database responsible for processing information in cargo intermodal connections is not only to collect input data on aviation and road infrastructure, but also to save the results generated by computational modules. At work, the modular database structure for assessing logistics services consisting of among others from dynamic data module, archive module, data entry module, optimization algorithm calibration module was proposed. Catalog structure and rules for supplying the database with data on the example of a railway operator were presented in detail.

    The paper presents major trends in the modern architecture of large database systems. Two types of architecture are described in detail: the parallel architecture and the distributed architecture. It has been widely recognised that centralised, single processor computing systems and centralised database systems in particular are approaching their theoretical limits of performance. Hence we can observe a growing interest among researchers and developers in the design and implementation of highly efficient distributed architecture. The paper focuses on different types of client-server architecture, which nowadays is becoming very popular in data processing systems.

    This work is focused on studying the possibilities of a new model in business management, integrating the best solutions of IT in the supermarket enterprises. We aim to show how an agent based system is used to manage successfully a market and why it is considered an efficient method to support the challenges of the supermarket enterprises. In a highly competitive environment, the impact of this phenomenon is visible, noting the increase of the interest for electronic systems which offer intelligent services in some activities as administration, marketing, business services, etc. We think agent based systems are the best choice as tools that can automate the analysis of the database information and locate the real useful things.

    W artykule przedstawiono badania wydajności użytkowej komercyjnego systemu klasy ERP działającego w modelu 2W z bazą relacyjną zainstalowaną na platformie IBM mainframe i serwerem logiki biznesowej oraz prezentacji zainstalowanym na platformie Windows Server. Badanie wykonano zgodnie z opracowaną metodyką za pomocą rejestracji czasu realizacji funkcji systemu wskazanych w dokumencie Profil czasowo-użytkowy badanego systemu ERP. Przeprowadzono też konsultacyjne sesje eksperckie. Na podstawie wyników badań sformułowano zalecenie migracji produkcyjnych baz relacyjnych do środowiska Windows Server.
    The article presents a study of the performance of a commercial ERP system, operating in the 2W model with a relational database installed on the IBM mainframe platform, as well as business logic and presentation server installed on the Windows Server platform. The study was carried out in accordance with the developed methodology by means of recording the time of performing system functions indicated in the own document “Time-use profile of the ERP system under test”. Consulting sessions were also held. Based on the results of the research, a recommendation was made to migrate production relational databases to the Windows Server environment.

    W artykule przedstawiono autorską klasyfikację Systemów Zarządzania Bazą Danych (SZBD) oraz opisano możliwość zastosowania architektury agentowej w służbach ratowniczych Państwowej Straży Pożarnej PSP. W pierwszej części artykułu dokonano autorskiej klasyfikacji, przeglądu i opisu SZBD już od pewnego czasu dobrze znanych i opisanych np. rozwiązania katalogowe, relacyjne jak i aktualnie rozwijających się np. rozwiązania obiektowe, koncepcyjne czy też oparte o rozszerzony język znaczników (ang. extensible markup language - XML). Dotychczas zastosowanie samych baz danych i SZBD w służbach ratowniczych PSP jest mocno ograniczone. Zazwyczaj ich użycie sprowadza się do ewidencji i rejestracji zdarzeń z ewentualnym minimalnym ich wsparciem od strony informacyjnej dla Kierującego Działaniami Ratowniczymi KDR. Przedstawienie więc przekrojowej analizy SZBD daje możliwość szerszego spojrzenia na ewentualne zastosowania niektórych rozwiązań w służbach ratowniczych, w szczególności tych mających na celu wspieranie akcji ratowniczo-gaśniczych. W drugiej części artykułu skupiono się na właśnie takim rozwiązaniu. Przedstawiono w nim zarys systemu opartego o architekturę agentową. Opisano podstawowe funkcje oraz sposób działania systemu opartego o taka architekturę. Na końcu dokonano podsumowania z wyszczególnieniem technik i powstających problemów projektowych przy realizacji omawianej platformy.
