Opis:
Current source inverters (CSI) is one of the widely used converter topology in medium voltage drive applications due to its simplicity, motor friendly waveforms and reliable short circuit protection. The current source inverters are usually fed by controlled current source rectifiers (CSR) with a large inductor to provide a constant supply current. A generalized control applicable for both CSI and CSR and their extension namely current source multilevel inverters (CSMLI) are dealt in this paper. As space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) features the advantages of flexible control, faster dynamic response, better DC utilization and easy digital implementation it is considered for this work. This paper generalizes SVPWM that could be applied for CSI, CSR and CSMLI. The intense computation involved in framing a generalized space vector control are discussed in detail. The algorithm includes determination of band, region, subregions and vectors. The algorithm is validated by simulation using MATLAB /SIMULINK for CSR 5, 7, 13 level CSMLI and for CSR fed CSI.

The paper discusses the application of the current-source concept in the gate drivers for silicon carbide transistors. There is a common expectation that all SiC devices will be switched very fast in order to reach very low values of switching energies. This may be achieved with the use of suitable gate drivers and one of possibilities is a solution with the current source. The basic idea is to store energy in magnetic field of a small inductor and then release it to generate the current peak of the gate current. The paper describes principles of the current-source driver as well as various aspects of practical implementation. Then, the switching performance of the driven SiC transistors is illustrated by double-pulse test results of the normally-ON and normally-OFF JFETs. Other issues such as problem of the drain-gate capacitance and power consumption are also discussed on the base of experimental results. All presented results show that the currentsource concept is an interesting option to fast and efficient driving of SiC transistors.

Opis:
Nowadays, the increasing number of non-linear loads influences the grid, causing grid voltage disturbances. These disturbances may be very dangerous for the equipment and can create faults in converter behaviour. However, the right control algorithm can improve the reliability of the work. For a current source rectifier, the finite control set model predictive control has been proposed. This method is very flexible because of the variety of the possible cost function forms. It has been examined under grid voltage disturbed by the higher harmonics and the voltage drop. Simulation results prove the ability to damp the distortions and to ensure the unity power factor. Summing up, the algorithm is a very good solution for use in applications such as battery charging, active power filtering and low-voltage direct current load feeding.

Opis:
In this paper, design, construction and switching parameters of a self-made optical shutter with scalable aperture were reported. The aim of the study was to obtain the shortest possible switching times, minimum shutter open time and comparable with commercial shutter, the switch-on and switch-off times. For this purpose, numerical simulations were performed using Comsol Multiphysics 5.4. The design of the shutter and the control system have been optimized accordingly to the obtained results of numerical simulations. The optimized design was fabricated in a professional mechanical workshop and operational parameters of the constructed device were investigated. The switching parameters of the shutter, such as opening time, closing time, minimum shutter open time and other parameters were measured. The values of the parameters were determined from a statistical analysis of a sample consisting of 10,000 measurement results. The performed characterization showed that the tested device has the opening time of 0.8 ms, while the closing time is approximately 1 ms. The designed device is characterized by the minimum shutter open time of 6.4 ms.

The paper considers wide-band voltage controlled power electronics current source. The current source has been designed as a part of 1-channel reference current generator designed for current meters testing. The control module of the generator utilizes specialized Analog Devices Inc. DSPs based microcomputer module for power electronics applications. Used solutions have allowed obtain high quality referencing of the output current within reference signal. The paper presents the structure and selected aspects of the control algorithm of the current source. Also selected investigations results of laboratory prototype of generator with utilization of controlled current source are presented.

In this paper, some new control algorithms are proposed for a three-phase four-wire Unified Power Quality Conditioner. These control algorithms are based on the combination of Unit Vector Template Generation (UVTG) with Power Balance Theory (PBT), single phase d-q theory, Synchronous Current Detection (CSD) technique, and I CosΦ theory. The performance of each control algorithm of UPQC is evaluated in terms of power factor correction, load balancing and source neutral current mitigation, and voltage and current harmonic mitigation. The performance of proposed control algorithms are compared with synchronous reference frame (SRF) based control algorithm. In each proposed control scheme of the three-phase four-wire UPQC, the current/voltage control is applied over the fundamental supply currents/ load voltages instead of fast changing APFs currents/ voltages, thereby reducing the effects of computational delay. Moreover, the load neutral or shunt APF neutral currents are not sensed hence the required current sensors are reduced. MATLAB/ Simulink based simulations are obtained, which support the functionality of the UPQC.

Opis:
Electricity storage is one of the best-known methods of balancing the energy supply and demand at a given moment. The article presents an innovative solution for the construction of an electric energy storage device obtained from an innovative photovoltaic panel made of new dye-based photovoltaic modules and newly developed supercapacitors – which can be used as an emergency power source. In the paper, for the first time, we focused on the successful paring of new dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) with novel supercapacitors. In the first step, a microprocessor stand was constructed using Artificial Intelligence algorithms to control the parameters of the environment, as well as the solar charger composed of six DSSC cells with the dimensions of 100_100 mm and 126 CR2032 coin cells with a total capacitance of 60 F containing redox-active aqueous electrolyte. It was proven that the solar charger store enough energy to power, i.e. SOS transmitter or igniters, using a 5 V signal.

W artykule przedstawiono elektryczne schematy układów konwersji pojedynczej rezystancji i pojedynczej konduktancji na sygnał cyfrowy, możliwe do realizacji przy wykorzystaniu wzmacniaczy monolitycznych oraz przetworników analogowo-cyfrowych. Zaproponowano symbole elementów elektrycznych sterowanych źródeł napięcia i sterowanych źródeł prądu, a także sterowanego napięciowo przetwornika analogowo-cyfrowego. Są to niezbędne elementy elektryczne do tworzenia pełnych końcowych schematów konwerterów rezystancji na sygnał cyfrowy i konwerterów konduktancji na sygnał cyfrowy. Wykazano, że są tylko cztery proste podstawowe schematy tych konwerterów. Omówiono kilka przykładowych schematów elektronicznych układów realizujących funkcje sterowanych źródeł napięcia i sterowanego źródła prądu umożliwiających tworzenie pełnych końcowych schematów elektronicznych konwerterów pojedynczej rezystancji na sygnał cyfrowy i konwerterów pojedynczej konduktancji na sygnał cyfrowy.
The object of paper is description the electronic circuit for conversion the resistance and the conductance to digital signal with using the monolithic amplifies and the monolithic analogue-digital converter. There are shown the electric element symbols of the signal controlled voltage sources and the signal controlled current sources and also the voltage controlled analogue-digital converter, the basic electric elements for construction the schemes of the resistance to digital signal converters and the conductance to digital signal converters. There are only four basic schemes of that converters shown on figures. The paper describes the examples of realization the signal controlled voltage sources and signal controlled current source as the basic elements for construction electronic schemes of the resistance to digital converters and schemes of the conductance to digital converters.

The article presents a closed-form formula for solving a weakly singular surface integral with a linear current source distribution associated with the SIE-MoM formulation used for solving electromagnetic (EM) problems. The analytical formula was obtained by transforming the surface integral over a triangular domain into a double integral, and then directly determining formulas for the inner and outer integrals. The solution obtained is marked by high computational efficiency, high accuracy, and very simple implementation. The derived formula, in contrast to the currently available formulas, consists of quantities that have a clear and simple geometric interpretation, related to the geometry of the computational domain.

A source of pure silicon was added into an alloy refining system during a refining process with the application of a direct electric current. The effect of the temperature difference between the graphite electrodes and the alloy was decreased. The temperature increase value (ΔT) of the Al-28.51wt.%Si alloy sample caused by Joule heating was calculated by weighing the mass of primary silicon. When the current density was 5.0×105A/m2, the overall temperature increase in the alloy was about 90°C regardless of the alloy composition. Adequate silicon atoms recorded the footprint of the electric current in the alloy melt. The flow convection generated by the electric current in the melt during the solidification process resulted in the refinement of primary silicon. The Fe impurity content in alloy refining without the electric current density was 2.16 ppm. However, it decreased to 1.27 ppmw with the application of an electric current density of 5.0×105A/m2.

W artykule omówiono problematykę zewnętrznej instalacji odgromowej instalowanej na budynkach zabytkowych, w których znajdują się urządzenia elektroniczne. Ochrona obiektu polega na wyposażeniu go w wewnętrzną instalację odgromową, która będzie obejmowała również instalacje radiowe na zewnątrz budynku oraz pełne zabezpieczenie wszystkich urządzeń elektronicznych zainstalowanych wewnątrz obiektu po stronie zasilania. Jako przykład wymieniono stacjonarne obiekty kolejowe. Opisano najistotniejsze źródło zaburzeń elektromagnetycznych w postaci wyładowań atmosferycznych oraz zagrożenie pożarowe, jakie jest związane z tego rodzaju zjawiskiem. Przedstawiono elementy składowe zewnętrznej instalacji odgromowej oraz zasady jej doboru. Opisano sposób projektowania zewnętrznej instalacji odgromowej w odniesieniu do obowiązujących norm. Uwzględniono również problem ochrony obiektów przed pożarami powstałymi w wyniku wyładowań atmosferycznych.
In this article discusses the problem of designing external lightning protection is installed on the monumental buildings, which are electronic equipment. The structure.s protection consists in the equipment of the external earthling installation, which also includes the radio installations outside the buildings, and the full protection of all electronic equipment installed inside the structure, both on the side of the power supply. As an example of railways stationary objects. Describes the most important source of electromagnetic disturbances in the form of lightning and a fire danger, which is associated with this type of phenomenon. Presents the components of external lightning protection, systems and rules for its selection. Describes how to design the outer lightning protection systems for existing standards. Account is also the problem of protection of buildings against fire, engendered by lightning.

This paper proposes an open switch faults detection and localization algorithm for shunt three phase active filter topology. It mainly details converter configuration and examines a simple and reliable optimized fault diagnosis method. The converter topology is based on classical three-leg active power filter topology. New fault diagnosis method is proposed, based on classical currents measurements. It includes combinatory logic to analyze and validate error signals. Hysteresis control is applied before and after fault detection, which avoids any controller reconfiguration. Simulation results obtained with Matlab/Simulink/Plecs tools prove the effectiveness of this method.

In the paper, the concept of a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) with uniquely designed stator windings for wind turbines is presented. Two 3-phase windings in the stator are used, one of which is connected in the star, while the other in the delta configuration. Six-pulse rectifiers, mutually coupled by the pulse transformer, whose primary winding is supplied by the so-called “current modulator”, are placed at the outputs of both windings. The modulator output current should meet all the necessary and strict requirements. Both rectifiers operate on a common DC circuit. These solutions provide the sinusoidal magnetomotive force in the stator of the PMSG and the quasi-sinusoidal (taking into account the non-linearity of the magnetic circuit) magnetic flux. In light of the generator principle, it has been called the “PMSG with modulated the magnetic flux”. The slightly higher complexity in the structure of the generator, as compared to the normal three-phase construction, is compensated by the exceptional simplicity of the power electronics section of the system, which allows high efficiency to be reached. The current modulator (as well as the pulse transformer) is a power electronics converter with a relatively low output power as compared to the overall output power of the system. In comparison to other known solutions, the expected cost of the system should be lower. It is also expected that a high degree of reliability in terms of its operation will be achieved, and consequently, that the the ongoing costs of its maintenance will be reduced. In the paper, concept, theoretical basis of operation, and results of the studies of the simulation models of the generator, including the basic power electronics section, are presented.

Opis:
Wind power integration through the voltage source converter-based high-voltage direct current (VSC-HVDC) system will be a potential solution for delivering large-scalewind power to the “Three-North Regions” of China. However, the interaction between the doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) and VSC-HVDC system may cause the risk of subsynchronous oscillation (SSO). This paper establishes a small-signal model of the VSC based multi-terminal direct current (VSC-MTDC) system with new energy access for the problem, and the influencing factors causing SSO are analyzed based on the eigen valueanalysis method. The theoretical analysis results show that the SSO in the system is related to the wind farm operating conditions, the rotor-side controller (RSC) of the DFIG and the interaction of the controller in the VSC-MTDC system. Then, the phase lag characteristicis obtained based on the signal test method, and a multi-channel variable-parameter subsynchronous damping controller (SSDC) is designed via selecting reasonable parameters.Finally, the correctness of the theoretical analysis and the effectiveness of the multi-channelvariable-parameter SSDC are verified based on time-domain simulation.
