    Artykuł jest polemiką wobec stanowiska A. Ciastoń- ‑Ciulkin w zakresie zdefiniowania pojęcia „kultura mobilności”, zaprezentowanego w artykule Nowa kultura mobilności – istota i ujęcie definicyjne, opublikowanym w „Transporcie Miejskim i Regionalnym”, 2016, nr 1, ss. 3–9. Artykuł nawiązuje również do definicji tego pojęcia, zaproponowanej przez R. Janeckiego Nowa kultura mobilności jako kierunek rozwoju transportu miejskiego i regionalnego w województwie śląskim, opublikowanego w Studiach Ekonomicznych 143 (2013) Uniwersytetu Ekonomicznego w Katowicach.
    The article is a polemic with the A. Ciastoń-Ciulkin statement referring to the definition of the concept of the “culture of mobility” presented in the article: “New culture of mobility – substance and definition” published in the “Urban and Regional Transport”, 2016, No 1, p.3-9. The article refers also to the definition of this concept proposed by R. Janecki: “New culture of mobility as a direction for development of urban and regional transport in the Silesian voivodship”, published in the Journal of Economics and Management 143 (2013) by the University of Economics in Katowice.

    Kultura to istotny element każdego społeczeństwa, stanowi całokształt materialnych i niematerialnych wartości, będących wytworami ludzkiej działalności oraz wyuczonych i uznawanych społecznie zachowań, również transportowych. Jak każda kultura, również społecznie uznawana kultura mobilności będzie wspierać lub wyhamowywać rozwój społeczno-gospodarczy. W artykule przedstawiono znaczenie pojęcia kultury mobilności, w szczególności ewoluującej do nowej kultury mobilności oraz jej znaczenia w życiu społeczno-gospodarczym ośrodków zurbanizowanych. Zilustrowano również zapisy europejskiej polityki transportowej w zakresie zrównoważonej mobilności w miastach.
    Culture is an important element of each society, includes entirety of tangible and intangible values, which are creation of human activities and learned as well as socially recognized behaviors, including transport behaviors. Like all cultures, also socially considered mobility culture will support or slow down socio-economic development. In the article importance of definition of culture mobility, with a special respect to the new culture of mobility and its role in the socio-economic life of urbanized centers is presented. Also description of the European transport policy in the framework of sustainable mobility in cities is illustrated.

    Opis:
    Intensywny rozwój obszarów zurbanizowanych, oprócz korzyści gospodarczych, niesie za sobą również pewne zagrożenia. Jednym z nich są negatywne skutki wzrostu motoryzacji indywidualnej w podróżach miejskich. Odpowiedzią na potęgujące się problemy wynikające z rosnącej liczby użytkowników transportu indywidualnego ma być zarządzanie zrównoważoną mobilnością (zarządzanie zapotrzebowaniem na transport). W artykule przedstawiono koncepcję i cel tego zarządzania oraz omówiono najczęściej stosowane instrumenty i narzędzia służące do realizacji tego celu.
    Intensive development of urban areas, in addition to economic benefits, also carries certain threats. One of them are negative effects of individual transport permanent increase in cities. The response to the escalating problems resulting from the growing number of private transport users might be the sustainable mobility management (transport demand management). The paper presents the concept and goals of the management together with the dicussion on the most commonly used instruments and tools for its implementation.

    This article concernes Third Culture Kids (TCKs), i.e. persons, who due their parents’ work spent a significant period of their childhood or school years in a different country than that of their parents. Due to the fact that in today’s globalizing world more and more people experience working abroad and many of them are accompanied by their families, the issue of the consequences of such a mobile and multicultural childhood becomes extremely important. The author has conducted 53 biographical interviews with adult Third Culture Kids. The biographical consequences of moving in one’s childhood are analyzed in a few spheres: professional life, social relations, psychological problems, and identity construction. TCKs are most often from the families of diplomats, professionals working abroad on contracts, employees of international firms. The vast majority of them has tertiary education and chooses a career which gives independence, the possibility to travel and capitalize cultural competences, which one has acquired thanks to his or her upbringing. Unfortunately, such a lifestyle since childhood is associated with the risk of psychological (ranging from the lack of embeddedness to depression) and social (e.g. sense of alienation, difficulties in engaging in deeper relations) problems. Building a coherent and long-lasting identity is also a challenge for Third Culture Kids. The author describes means of dealing with the above-mentioned problems.

    Celem tego artykułu jest omówienie stanowiska Józefa Chałasińskiego na temat polskiej inteligencji. Autor artykułu argumentuje, że było ono konsekwencją jego poglądów na pokrewne tematy, jakimi się zajmował: demokratyzację kultury, awans społeczny, napięcia między kulturą szlachecką a (wypartą z polskiego imaginarium) kulturą chłopską, problematykę narodu. W pierwszej części tekstu autor śledzi najważniejsze i obecne w dziele socjologa inspiracje, które ukształtowały jego przekonania. W drugiej części podkreśla, że chociaż Józef Chałasiński nie zostawił na temat inteligencji jednorodnego dzieła, to z rozproszonych pism można wydobyć stosunkowo spójne oraz formowane przez lata stanowisko teoretyczne. Autor artykułu stawia ponadto tezę, że w ujęciu inteligencji przez Chałasińskiego najważniejszą rolę pełniła kultura, zaś krytyka inteligencji miała na celu walkę o demokratyzację kultury. W podsumowującej części tekstu autor podkreśla trwałość podstawowych wątków dotyczących inteligencji u Chałasińskiego oraz towarzyszącą mu przez całą intelektualną biografię nadzieję na zmianę wzoru osobowego reprezentowanego przez inteligencję i zastąpienie go demokratycznym wzorem człowieka kulturalnego, który niezależnie od zawodu czy wykształcenia czynnie uczestniczy w życiu kulturalnym własnego narodu.
    This article aims to discuss Józef Chałasiński’s theory on the Polish intelligentsia. The author of the text argues that it should be considered in relation to other topics which Chałasiński tackled: the democratization of culture, social mobility, the problems of the nation, and relations between the culture of the nobility and the culture of peasants (displaced from the Polish imaginary). In the first section of the article, the author traces the most important inspirations that shaped his concept of the intelligentsia. In the second section, he argues that although Józef Chałasiński did not deliver a final work on this subject, a relatively consistent theoretical position can be derived from his writings. The author also puts forward the thesis that according to Chałasiński the most important role in sustaining the intelligentsia’s highest position was played by culture. Therefore, his criticism of the intelligentsia was directed at the democratization of national culture. In the concluding section, the author emphasizes the persistence of several motives on the intelligentsia in Chałasiński’s work and synthesizes his findings on this subject. The author also describes the critical perspective that accompanied Chałasiński throughout his intellectual biography. Chałasiński hoped that the model of personality represented by the intelligentsia should be replaced by a democratic model of a cultural man who could actively participate in the cultural life of the nation, regardless of profession or education.

    For the last decade Andrzej Stasiuk’s prose has focused on description and interpretation of the author’s numerous journeys to central and Eastern European countries, the Balkans and Asia. He talks about them with his characteristic literary disposition, thus creating a specific genre which can be defined as ‘a wanderer’s diary’ or ‘travel story’. In such works as Going to Babadag (2006), There are no expresses by the yellow roads (2013) or The East (2014), the relational layer maintained in the convention of literary reportage co-exists in an active way with the reflective layer, the artistic projection of which is the clearly marked cultural and spatial nature and the teleology of dynamic existence within its frame requires intellectual mobility in comparing distinguishing features of the Oriental and Occidental cultural systems. The author is clearly in favour of the former – it is the basic territory of his existence as a human being and an artist. Andrzej Stasiuk’s philosophy of mobility marked by nomadic thinking obviously clashes with the desire for balance in the world and his intellect rejects both the opportunity of ‘an escape to the utopia’ and acceptance of what is happening in his territory.
