The article deals with the comparative analysis of the concept „death”. By objectification of the concepts TOD/смерть in the German and Ukrainian ethnoses. It is prospective to investigate the asymmetry of phraseological signs-linguoculturems on basis of non-kindred – German and Ukrainian – languages.

Opis:
The article defines the emotive specifics of anger in Ukrainian phraseology with the design on the problems of axiophraseological pragmatics. The object of the research is the emotional state of anger in its psychological diversity. The subject is the phraseological units with the semantics of anger. The emotive profile of anger is illustrated in the study by numerous examples from imaginative literature. The main method of research is the method of parametric analysis of the semantic structure of a phraseological unit with an accentuation of the evaluation and emotive components. Qualification signs of anger are: a) intensification and complex nature with the release of complex negative states of anger / resentment, embarrassment, discontent, indignation, irritation, rage, hatred; b) negative orientation to the outside; c) psychological manipulation; d) temporary nature and lack of sufficient grounds. Recorded and analyzed the four stages of anger: hidden anger stage, the stage of excitement, stage of outbreak of uncontrolled anger and stage of decay of anger.

Analiza tekstów polskiego dyskursu publicznego ujawnia, że występujące w nim geograficzne nazwy własne i ich derywaty służą nie tylko lokalizowaniu (identyfikowaniu) miejsc i obiektów, ale i etykietowaniu stereotypowych wyobrażeń Europy i Azji, Morza Śródziemnego i Mount Everestu, Bizancjum i Atlantydy, Pcimia i Mławy, ulicy Woronicza i placu Pigalle. Sieć tych wyobrażeń tworzy swoistą „mapę mentalną” nadbudowaną nad mapami geograficznymi i politycznymi i stosunkowo od nich niezależną. Mapa mentalna ma charakter wybiórczy (pomija większość obiektów realnych) i narodowo nacechowany, a do dwóch podstawowych wymiarów – długości i szerokości – dodaje trzeci: pion, który służy wartościowaniu obiektów. Wskutek tego obiekty na mapach mentalnych – w przeciwieństwie do map tradycyjnych – łączą się w grupy na zasadzie podobieństwa lub przeciwieństwa ich cech i wartości. Mapy mentalne są zmienne w czasie, historycznie zmienna jest także umiejętność ich odczytywania, przy czym w dyskursie społecznym funkcjonuje równocześnie wiele krzyżujących się ze sobą map mentalnych (narodowe, grupowe, środowiskowe, światopoglądowe, pokoleniowe itp.); stanowią one istotny, ale wciąż słabo poznany składnik kodu kulturowego danej wspólnoty komunikacyjnej w danym czasie. Bliższemu poznaniu map mentalnych wciąż jeszcze nie służy dzisiejsza leksykografia, programowo pomijająca definiowanie nazw własnych. Autor formułuje postulat wykorzystania definicji kognitywnej do opisu stereotypów tworzących polską mapę mentalną, a opis ten traktuje jako istotny czynnik społecznej i narodowej autorefleksji Polaków.
The analysis of the Polish public discourse reveals that geographical proper names and their derivatives are used not only to identify places and buildings or structures, but also to label stereotyped images of Europe and Asia, the Mediterranean Sea and Mount Everest, Byzantium and Atlantis, Pcim and Mława, Woronicza street and Place Pigalle. A networks of these images constitutes a „mental map”, superimposed over and relatively independent of geographical and political maps. A mental map is selective, i.e. it disregards the majority of real places and structures, and marked in the national sense. To two basic dimensions — longitude and latitude — it adds a third one: that of verticality, which is used to valuate the entities under consideration. Therefore objects on mental maps, in contrast to traditional maps, are grouped according to the similarity or discrepancy of their features and values. Mental maps change in time, as does the ability to read them. In social discourse there exist a number of crisscrossing mental maps (national, based on social groups, on particular social environments, worldviews, typical of a given generation, etc.), which constitute an important though still poorly known component of the cultural code of a given linguistic community at a particular time. By omitting to define proper names, contemporary lexicography does not contribute to a greater understanding of mental maps. In the present article the author proposes to use the cognitive definition to describe the stereotypes which constitute the Polish mental map, which description is treated as an important factor of the social and national reflection of Poles on themselves.

It is proceeded by general data about structure of Polish society in terms of ethnics and religion. Te second part focuses on criminal law rules, especially the Executive Penal Code. It includes the results of the poll conducted in the penitentiaries which was aimed at assessing how Polish criminal law copes with cultural diferences.

The basis of European communities’ integration is diversified. Some of its aspects are particularly emphasized, like the dynamics of economic development, which creates new quality of life for millions of Europeans. Much attention is devoted to the common historical past and the common democratic political values. The attention is focused, to a lesser extent, on what constitutes the real basis of cultural identity for European societies, namely law and the attitude to it. It is law and values attributed to it as well as legal institutions, which have been the strongest links of cultural chain connecting Europeans. Except for a basic issue, that is the Roman law tradition, one can point at a great common achievement with essential practical qualities. Lex mercatoria in the field of commercial law. Traditions of European constitutionalism, including the second, in the terms of the time of creation, modern constitution which was Polish constitution of 1791. Modern civil law becoming widespread due to the French Napoleonic Civil Code, which at the beginning of the 19th century was binding on the eastern European territory within such borders, which are now the European Union’s borders. The exchange of ideas and legal doctrine from the Middle Ages at European Universities. Promoting in these discussions, starting from the 16th century, modern solutions in the area of law, like the postulate of departing from capital punishment and equal rights. A systematic development of subjective rights, human rights, equal rights for women, rights of minorities and rights of the disabled. Introducing these rights to the positive law and ensuring their international and institutional protection.

The research is devoted to ethno-semiotic characteristic of an image of a mosquito as a factor of entomological code of the traditional spiritual culture of Belarusian people. It has been shown that in the system of entomological imagery a mosquito is a male erotic symbol, and it correlates with concepts of small, weak, blood, victim, fertility, heat, hedonism, demon. The mosquito correlates with mythological elements: zoological (bird, snake, horse, etc.), dendrological (oak, walnut), demonological (devil), anthropological (saint, nun, tsar, soldier) and other conceptual codes.

The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate the focus of education on creativity achieved by the use of coding (“code to learn”), in view of modern pedagogical theories. Social interactions between young creators are an important factor. The paper describes an initial stage of the research on the phenomenon of the remix of simple computer games created by the community of users in the Scratch environment. It presents selected problems of young creators connected to sharing their own work with other community members: authorship acknowledgement, formal acknowledgement for the first author placed on derived products (games), reactions of the first author to the creative development of their ideas or influence of school grades on the will to share the project. There will be further research on the achievements of the same group of students aged 15 to 16 after a series of lessons concerning creating computer games in the Scratch environment.

В статье предлагается обзор подходов к описанию связи языка и культуры, техники исследования культурных норм. Рассматриваются типы взаимодействия культур, специфика диаспоральной лингвокультуры, комплекс признаков, характеризующих диаспоры эмиграции (дальнее зарубежье) и диаспоры «катаклизмов» (постсоветской эмиграции). Подчеркивается значение того, как именно лингвокультура принимающей страны влияет на изменения языка диаспоры, ее коммуникативных норм. Представлены признаки диаспоральной концептуализации, которые составляют основу модели описания русского языка как плюрицентрического в аспекте лингвокультуры.
The article offers an overview of approaches to describing the connection between language and culture, techniques for the study of cultural norms. Author considers the types of cultural interaction, the specifics of diasporal linguaculture, a set of features characterizing the diasporas (far abroad) and the diaspora of “cataclysms” in postsoviet countries. She emphasizes the importance of linguacultural influence on the language and communicative norms changes in diaspora. The signs of diasporal conceptualization are presented. These features formed the basis for the descriptive model of the Russian language as pluricentric in the aspect of linguistic culture.

As a complex socio-technical system marine transportation is open to risks. Due to the efforts of international organisations, flag and port administrations, classification societies and ship-owners the safety record has steadily improved. However, marine accidents resulting from inadequate safety culture still occur. In this paper examples of recent accidents related to different dimensions of safety culture are provided. The role of the master in achieving an enhanced safety is emphasised.

The article discusses the treatment of fertility and the means of its expression in traditional culture. The relevant questions include: how to speculate about fertility, how to protect and stimulate it in communal and family customs, how to hinder fertility and cause infertility through word and gesture. The author argues that the verbal code as the carrier of symbolic meanings is inalienably linked with other cultural codes: material, personal, actional, involving music and dance, temporal, and locative. The codes function interchangeably, replacing and complementing one another.
Autorka podejmuje kwestie płodności w kulturze tradycyjnej i sposoby jej wyrażania, charakteryzuje sposoby wnioskowania o płodności, możliwości wpływania na płodność, jej ochronę i pobudzanie w obrzędowości dorocznej i rodzinnej, daje przykłady hamowania płodności oraz powodowania niepłodności słowem i gestem. Dowodzi, że kod werbalny jako nośnik znaczeń symbolicznych, pozostaje w ścisłym powiązaniu z innymi kodami kulturowymi: przedmiotowym, personalnym, akcjonalnym, muzycznotanecznym, temporalnym i lokatywnym. Służąc wyrażaniu sensów symbolicznych, kody funkcjonują wymiennie, zastępują się, przedłużają i dopełniają.

Purpose: The aim of the article is to show the ethical challenges of a modern manager in times of crisis and how to deal with them in the context of the original concept of human respect for ethical values, developed by Józef Tischner. Design/methodology/approach: In-depth literature analysis was used in both organizational issues and philosophical texts. Findings: They showed that in the case of organization, along with literal records, the key issue is to respect human dignity and develop human self-awareness. The focus was primarily on the issue of management’s responsibility for implementing ethical behavior in the organization, and pointing to the risk of crossing the border, which leads directly to human exploitation. Social implications: The presented theses may encourage the reader for further reflection on the issue of the mechanism of human behavior and may be very helpful in creating ethical attitudes of employees, and as a consequence may have a positive impact on the functioning of modern enterprises. Originality/value: An innovative aspect of these considerations is the change in the perception of an employee as a work subject from an only economic to axiological perspective and an indication of those actions of the managerial staff that will allow employees to identify with the organization in terms of the professed value system.

Kultura pracy stanowi cechę osobową człowieka będącą wypadkową jego indywidualnych dyspozycji osobowościowych i kompetencji zawodowych. Praca zawodowa przeszła liczne i radykalne przemiany i wciąż znajduje się w procesie przemian. Współcześnie, w warunkach gospodarki rynkowej jej wpływ na ludzi i ich życie jest znaczące. Umożliwia realizację potrzeb, jednakże wiążą się z tym znaczne koszty, m.in. związane z koniecznością podporządkowania się wymaganiom pracodawców i środowiska pracy. Ogranicza to poczucie niezależności, tym bardziej, że z pracą wiążą się liczne powinności. Wysoki poziom kultury pracy reprezentowany przez pracownika może znacząco je minimalizować i przyczyniać się do aktywowania mocy sprawczych pracownika wzmacniających jego samodzielność i niezależność. Dotyczy to dyspozycji instrumentalnych, w szczególności jednak dyspozycji kierunkowej. Ich doskonalenie oraz wyposażanie pracowników w sposoby doskonalenia własnej osobowości mogą prowadzić do poczucia niezależności pracownika, a powinności będą przezeń traktowane jako rezultaty ich własnych wyborów i decyzji.
Work culture is a personality trait that results from personality dispositions and professional competence of individuals. Professional work has undergone numerous and radical changes and it still evolving. Today, in the conditions of market economy, it has a significant impact on people and their lives. It facilitates fulfilling their needs; however, this entails high costs, namely the necessity to submit to the requirements of the employer and work environment. This limits the feeling of independence, all the more so that work entails numerous obligations. A high level of employee’s work culture may significantly reduce such costs and activate a person’s driving traits that enhance their autonomy and independence. Instrumental dispositions are essential in this area; however, directional dispositions are of key importance here. Improving such dispositions and equipping employees with ways to enhance their personality may lead to the development of their feeling of independence. As a consequence, employees tend to consider work obligations to be the result of their own choices and decisions.

Dlatego zarządzający powinni zadbać o kształtowanie etycznej kultury organizacyjnej, czyli takiej, w której są wpisane jasne zasady, wynikające z etycznych wartości i norm istotnych dla przedsiębiorstwa. Powinni także umiejętnie ją propagować wśród pracowników. Nie jest to łatwe i wymaga wsparcia odpowiednimi narzędziami. Jednym z nich może stać się kodeks etyczny firmy. W artykule ukazano, jak można uczynić z niego formalny instrument upowszechniania i promowania etycznej kultury organizacyjnej. Przedstawiono w nim również, jakie wartości są charakterystyczne dla tego typu kultury i jakie zachowania są wraz z nimi wyzwalane u członków organizacji.
Achieving success in business and gaining a long term competitive advantage require a fair, responsible and decent behavior of persons who are involved in it. Therefore, managers should take care of forming such ethical organizational culture, in which they are written clear principles, resulting from the ethical values and norms relevant to business. They should also promote it among employees. It is not easy and requires the support of appropriate tools. One of them may become a code of ethics of the company. The article shows how to make it a formal tool of popularization and promotion of an ethical organizational culture. It also presents the values which are typical for this type of culture and which behaviors are triggered together with them in the organization.

Over the past generation, the ISM code has brought forth tremendous opportunities to investigate and enhance the human factor in shipping through the implementation of Safety Management Systems. One of the critical factors to this implementation has been mandatory compliance and a requirement for obtaining a Document of Compliance (DOC) for vessels operating globally or at least internationally. A primary objective of these systems is to maintain them as “living” or “dynamic” systems that are always evolving. As the ISM code has evolved, there have been instances where large organizations have opted to maintain a voluntary DOC from their respective class society. This has been accomplished with a large human factor element as typically an organizational culture does not always accept change readily especially if there is not a legal requirement to do so. In other words, when considering maritime training is it possible that organizations may represent cultural challenges? The intent of this paper will be to research large maritime operations that have opted for a document of compliance voluntarily and compare them to similar organizations that have been mandated by international law to do the same. The result should be to gain insight into the human factors that must contribute to a culture change in the organization for the purposes of a legal requirement versus the human factors that contribute to a voluntary establishment of a safety management system. This analysis will include both the executive decision making that designs a system implementation and the operational sector that must execute its implementation. All success and failures of education and training can be determined by the outcome. Did the training achieve its goal? Or has the education prepared the students to embrace a new idea in conjunction with a company goal or a new regulatory scheme? In qualifying the goal of a successful ISM integration by examining both mandatory and voluntary ISM implementation in large maritime operations, specifically ferry systems, hopefully we can learn from the various factors that have gone into each.
