    The study works up three aspects of creation of the fundamental level for moral evolution context of education. Culture and moral phenomenon cannot be investigated in isolation from the development, with no regard to broader links, by neglecting their complex and human character. There are more than just one point of view to regard Europe. I have decided to focus on ethical/educational interests. I have characterized Europe as a multicultural – value community, its identity, cultural awareness, the complementary relation between culture and morality. I emphasized and developed humanistic ideas of education and the ethical dimension of education.

    The article is dedicated to the comparative analysis of the Islamic legal culture and the Western legal culture. The article points out to the differences of those legal cultures and tries to find their roots. The author considers this problem in several basic contexts: the sources of law, the variability of law, the obligation of submission to law, the limits of legal system, the relation of law to morality, the functions which are attributed to law and the role of religion in public space. The paper examines each of them penetratingly. With reference to the author’s viewpoint, a prime difference between the Islamic and the Western legal cultures comes down to the number of normative systems possible to single out while examining the former or the latter. According to the text, in the Islamic legal culture there exists one universal normative system which includes legal rules as well as moral standards, unwritten laws, courtesy instructions, etc. On the other hand, the Western legal culture is characterized by strict separation between legal rules and other standards which belong to morality or customs. At the end of the article the author attempts to formulate a standpoint referring to the future of the Islamic and the Western legal cultures.

    Kościół od zawsze przywiązywał dużą wagę do świata kultury, widząc w niej miejsce i pomoc w ewangelizacji. Wielu chrześcijan aktywnie włączało się i nadal włącza w działania kulturalne, które nadawały chrześcijański charakter światu, w którym żyjemy. Współcześnie jednak pod wpływem przemian, związanych z silnym wpływem laicyzacji, niektóre nurty kulturowe dystansują się do dziedzictwa chrześcijańskiego, a nawet je wyraźnie kontestują. Pojawia się pytanie: jak powinien zachować się chrześcijanin w obliczu takich zjawisk? Czy powinien nadal aktywnie uczestniczyć w wymianie kulturalnej, czy też powinien się od nich dystansować? Jak korzystać z osiągnięć kulturalnych, które posiadają dwuznacznie moralny charakter? Jak pozostać wierny swojemu sumieniu, a jednocześnie nie rezygnować z misji ewangelizacyjnej na areopagach współczesnej kultury? Próbę poszukiwania odpowiedzi na te pytania podejmuje niniejszy artykuł.
    The Church has always attached great significance to the world of culture, understanding culture as a place and a help in the task of evangelization. Many Christians join actively in cultural endeavors, which impart the Christian character to our world. Unfortunately, nowadays, due to the influence of changes inspired predominantly by laicization, some of the cultural trends distance themselves from the Christian heritage, and even sometimes defy this heritage. The question arises: how should a Christian behave in the face of such phenomena? Should he still take actively participate in cultural exchange or should he keep aloof. How to benefit from the achievements of culture with dubious moral character? How to be faithful to one's conscience and simultaneously not refrain from the evangelical mission in the Areopaguses of contemporary culture? The paper tries to give answers to these  questions.

    Jan Paweł II przypomniał w siedzibie UNESCO w Paryżu dnia 2 czerwca 1980 roku, że kultura moralna jest pierwszym i podstawowym wymiarem każdej autentycznej kultury będącej „właściwym kształtem życia człowieka jako takiego”. Młody człowiek powinien nabywać kulturę moralną m.in. na drodze edukacji, tzn. kształcenia i wychowania. Ważnym elementem w tej pracy jest etyczny namysł nad życiem i działaniem człowieka. Jednak nie każda etyka (model etyczny, kierunek etyczny) służy wspomnianemu procesowi. Proponowany artykuł prezentuje główne idee etyki normatywnej w odniesieniu do kultury moralnej w myśli filozoficzno-teologicznej Karola Wojtyły – św. Jana Pawła II.
    John Paul II reminded in the UNESCO headquarters in Paris on 2nd June 1980 that moral culture is the first and basic dimension of each authentic culture which is “the right shape of man’s life itself.” A young person should acquire the moral culture inter alia in the way of education i.e. instruction and upbringing. An ethical reflection on life and a person’s activity is an important element in this thesis. However, not every ethics (ethical model, ethical direction) favours the mentioned process. The suggested article presents the main ideas of the normative ethics in reference to the moral culture in the theological and philosophical thought of Karol Wojtyła – St. John Paul II.
