    On August 23rd, 2020 a model of 1996 V12 Mercedes S600 Lorinser was sold at an eBay auction. While the asking price for this particular model, in 2021, is approximately between $4,500 and $11,000, this particular car was sold for a hefty sum of $202,200. What makes this Mercedes car unique and pricey is the fact that it used to belong to a basketball’s great, Michael Jordan. The fact that the auction in question was finalized in the midst of global, Coronavirus pandemic, and following the release of The Last Dance documentary on Jordan’s career, factors into the interpretation of the semiotics of the automobile itself. The aim of this paper is to analyze: the semiotics meanings attached to Michael Jordan as a persona and a brand/sign; the semiotics meanings attached to Mercedes brand and cars; and, ultimately, shifting semiotic meanings of Jordan’s 1996 V12 Mercedes S600 Lorinser in the context of time and the selling price, with nostalgia as a factor.

    This article deals with the peculiarities of the concept lacuna from the perspective of theoretical considerations. Based on theoretical studies of lacunarity, the author discusses issues related to the phenomenon of linguistic and cultural lacunae, including their sources and types. She also presents the main features of linguistic lacunae and their classifications, and analyses factors which have an impact on the emergence of lacunary phraseological units and their functioning. The study outlines the criteria of lacunarity and a method for identifying phraseological lacunae. It also considers the status of the lacuna and its functioning in areal phraseology, and examines the possibility of applying the theory of lacunarity to the areal phraseological system of the Ukrainian continuum. The study is focused on etymological analysis of phraseological lacunae and their origins. Lacunae are known to constitute a semantic vacuum which functions in the modes of language, speech and speech behaviour. As demonstrated, overcoming the problems of linguistic continuum requires the knowledge not only of the direct (primary) meaning of words and phrases, but also of their place and functions in a given sociocultural community where they are used, and where dialect is the actual means of communication. The article also identifies the main dimensions of the phraseological system in focus: the themes of the meanings of phraseological units, the nature of their figurative basis, and the way these two aspects are interrelated.
    W artykule omówiono specyfikę pojęcia lakuna (luka) z punktu widzenia podejmowanych na jego temat rozważań teoretycznych. W oparciu o prace teoretyczne poświęcone lakunarności autorka omawia rozmaite aspekty zjawiska luk językowych i kulturowych, ich źródła i typy. Artykuł uwzględnia główne cechy i istniejące klasyfikacje luk językowych, a także poddaje analizie czynniki wpływające na pojawianie się i funkcjonowanie luk frazeologicznych. Określono w nim ponadto kryteria lakunarności i metodę wykrywania luk frazeologicznych. Scharakteryzowano miejsce luki i jej funkcjonowanie w arealnych związkach frazeologicznych oraz możliwość zastosowania teorii lakunarności w badaniach nad arealnym systemem frazeologicznym ukraińskiego continuum. Szczególną uwagę zwraca autorka na etymologiczną analizę luk frazeologicznych i na przyczyny ich występowania. Jak wiadomo, luki są semantyczną próżnią, która funkcjonuje w modusach języka, mowy i zachowania językowego. Udowodniono, że przezwyciężenie problemów continuum językowego wymaga znajomości nie tylko bezpośredniego znaczenia słów i zwrotów, ale także ich miejsca i roli w danej wspólnocie społeczno-kulturowej, w której gwara jest rzeczywistym środkiem komunikacji. W artykule ponadto określono podstawowe wymiary omawianego systemu frazeologicznego, a więc tematykę znaczeń frazeologizmów, charakter ich podstawy figuratywnej i sposób, w jaki te wymiary są ze sobą powiązane.

    This article describes the changes in cultural policies in Poland which were triggered by the introduction of autonomous local self-governments in 1990 and 1998. The paper begins with a short presentation of the history of the decentralization of public authority and public funding of culture. Then competences of the Ministry of Culture and local governments in various cultural areas are compared. In the third part the authors focus on the accessibility of EU funds and its influence on the cultural sector. In next part the budgetary plans of local government units and actual expenditure on culture are compared. The concluding remarks present an overview of the changes which took place between 1990 and 2015. The article includes analysis based on data from the Central Statistical Office of Poland and from the Ministry of Finance.

    The article discloses the innovative approach to training and education of children and youth, which is based on the humanization of education, integrated education and polyart education. Humanization of education is considered in the article on both sides. 1) Reliance on pedagogical traditions of Russian science and education based on the concept of a free, humane, spiritual, creative personality, capable to selfdetermination and self-realization. The origins of these ideas are in the theoretical works of great scientists (K. Ushinsky, Leo Tolstoy, S.Frene, V.Sukhomlinsky) and philosophers (M. Bakhtin, Yu.Lotman). 2) Integration of humanities and methods of natural history. The impetus for the revival and the pedagogical model of humanization’s creation is a desire to overcome formal, abstract learning process, introducing a broad education into the cultural space where culture performs corrective function in the development of science.

    Artykuł opisuje zastosowanie GIS w inwentaryzacji jednostek architektoniczno-krajobrazowych dla obszaru Polski. Prace obejmowały założenie bazy danych dla jednostek architektonicznokrajobrazowych, geometryzację plików rastrowych, wektoryzację konturów, opracowanie schematu implementacyjnego modelu pojęciowego struktury danych (SQL), modelu pojęciowego struktury danych (UML), standardów wizualizacji danych. Głównym problemem były analogowe materiały źródłowe, które należało odpowiednio przetworzyć.
    The article describes the application of GIS in the inventory of architectural and landscape units for the area of Polish. The work included: development of a database structure for architectural and landscape units, geometrization of raster maps, digitization of unit outlines, development of the data visualization standards, establishment of the schedule for implementation of the conceptual data structure model (SQL) and conceptual model of the data structure (UML). The main problem during the realization of the project was the analog source material, which needed proper processing.

    The aim of the paper is to present problems which may occur in translation of phraseological units. On discussed examples the author analyses how the attempt to preserve by the translator an internal figurativeness of idioms influences to the choice of equivalent. To explain decisions and consequences were used cognitive approach.
    В статье рассматриваются проблемы, с которыми сталкивается переводчик в процессе перевода фразеологических единиц. Анализируя примеры переводческих соответствий, автор пытается показать, каким образом стремление сохранить внутреннюю форму фразеологизма влияет на выбор соответствия. Для оценки и объяснения переводческих решений используются элементы когнитивного метода.

    Funkcjonowanie jednostek kultury w głównej mierze jest determinowane formą pozyskiwania przez nie źródeł finansowania na prowadzenie bieżącej działalności lub realizację projektów celowych. Wydatki na finansowanie jednostek kultury stanowią niespełna 1% łącznych wydatków budżetu państwa. Brak dostatecznej informacji i wiedzy o sposobach oraz formach pozyskiwania środków przez jednostki kultury sprawia, iż coraz mniej inicjatyw jest podejmowanych w celu upowszechniania kultury w Polsce. Celem opracowania jest wskazanie źródeł finansowania jednostek kultury, a więc sposobów i metod poszukiwania środków na popularyzację kultury i dziedzictwa narodowego, w tym również tradycji i folkloru Polski. W pracy wskazano miejsce środków na finansowanie kultury w budżecie państwa, przedstawiono zmiany, jakie dokonały się w ostatnich latach w zakresie przepisów regulujących przekazywanie dotacji instytucjom kultury, jak również zaprezentowano źródła finansowania jednostek kultury na przykładzie województwa śląskiego.
    The functioning of culture units is mainly determined by the form of obtaining source of funding to conduct current activity or implementation of targeted projects. The expenditure on the financing of culture units are less than 1% of the total state budget. Lack of appropriate information and knowledge about methods and forms of fundraising by culture units makes it less initiatives or events are organized to disseminate culture in Poland. The main aim of the study is to identify the sources of financing of culture units, so that ways and methods of searching for funds to popularize the culture and national heritage, including the Polish tradition and folklore. The study indicated the place of the financing of culture in the state budget, presented the changes that have occurred in recent years in terms of regulations about the transfer of subsidies to cultural institutions, as well as pointed out the sources of financing of culture units on the example of Silesian region.
