    Opis:
    The article is centred around the issue of the cultural activities undertaken by adult persons, and in this perspective it presents the objectives and major findings of the “Poczekalnia” (“Waiting room”) research project. The project was implemented in the “Bronowice” local community centre in Lublin, as part of the “Dom Kultury + Inicjatywy lokalne” (“Community Centre + Local Initiatives”) programme, and its central aim was to propose a range of activities for adults who are waiting for their children to finish their classes. Assuming that an adult person is well aware of his or her cultural needs and interests, the authors of the project decided to organise some focus meetings so as to become acquainted with adults’ cultural preferences and obtain information concerning their expectations about institutions. The research showed that the minds of young adults are wide open to cultural activities. They presented a total of 28 propositions in the focus meetings. Among the propositions there were various forms of education – in the fields of music and dance (a training course in ballroom dancing), the visual arts and the theatre (theatre workshops), photography and film (workshops in photography and motionpicture projection), literature (a reading room with periodicals, a club dedicated to interesting books, poetry-reading sessions), physical education (aerobics, zumba), counselling (lectures and discussions including issues in psychology and pedagogy), personal skills and competencies (a training course in speed reading, first aid training tips for cooking and herbal medicine), and also general knowledge (lectures dedicated to the history and culture of Lublin, and sightseeing).

    This article addresses the issue of the employers’ obligations to fulfil the employees’ life, social, and cultural needs, in particular the employers’ right to resign from those obligations in times of crisis. The author examines the Polish law in search for legal regulations constituting framework for those obligations and analyses their nature. Some of those obligations are not enforceable, which means that the employees cannot bring court action against the employers to fulfill them. The article focuses on the obligations that are enforceable and explains how the employers may legally resign from fulfilling them. The article takes into consideration the standard methods of resignation as well as those introduced by the anti-crisis regulations.

    The article deals with the issue of cultural competences of young people and the factors that shape them. The author writes about the insufficient role of modern school in the process of shaping cultural competences and arousing the cultural needs of young people. Author indicates the destructive role of the contemporary, socio-political climate of „consent” in this dangerous process. Author also considers the ways of supplementing the modern education process with content and activities that raise the cultural competences of young people. The resoning conducted in the text are crowned with suggestions for changes which – according to the author – should be made in this matter, as well as suggestions for undertaking specific actions (animation of culture) raising the skills of young people in dealing with the complex and threatening contemporary cultural space.

    Objectives of the research: The aim of our study was to show that education, although rooted in the past and drawing heavily from the present, especially in modern times, is focused on the upcoming future, on preparing for life in a future marked by rapid changes in the development of civilisation and the hopes, threats and challenges associated with it. Research methods: A critical analysis of scientific/research texts was carried out. A short description of the context of the issue: The everyday reality of our lives increasingly proves that there is a great need for the harmonious and comprehensive development of the personality of children and young people. Living in a world of constant re-evaluation and clearly articulated tendencies close to ethical relativism, in a world of ecological threats, chaos in the field of beauty criteria and rapidly increasing diseases of civilisation at the end of the twentieth century (no less so two decades later), people must have a clear and distinct perspective on what they should be aiming at, on which values they should base their lives and how they should live as free, rational and responsible beings (Śnieżyński, 1999, p. 27). Research findings: The modern school becomes a place of creating needs related to the future as well as a place for locating the intentional expectations of young people and their parents in relation to functioning in reality and in the future. School has become an institution that is required to prepare young people well for life/social functioning in an unknown future. Conclusions and/or recommendations: At this point, one should ask whether the institution of a modern school is able to equip a young person with everything necessary to experience success, generally speaking, so that they will not be excluded or marginalised in the global world (Rzymełka-Frąckiewicz, 2020, pp. 93–108; Rzymełka-Frąckiewicz & Wilk, 2014, pp. 83–94).

    The article summarises the most important issues concerning working with students with migration experiences: foreign teenagers and children, young refugees and children of repatriated persons. The article authors underline the psychological aspects and not only refer to changes in school curricula or language differences, but also discuss the cultural differences and issues such as cultural shock (experienced also by people who come back to the country of their origin), adaptive stress or post‑traumatic stress. The authors also highlight the unique abilities of the migrant students and suggest effective ways of using them in school education. The article concludes with a short presentation of the legal acts that define they ways of supporting this group of students and with a list of publications that may become a source of inspiration for anyone interested in the matter.

    The increasing diversity of the population and diverse forms of migration and expatriation evoke new conceptual considerations about how to shape company-focused occupational further education. In ongoing transnationalisation processes enterprises take over functions of culture transporters and adapted training organization, means that, although businesses’ primary focus lies on objectives other than education and training, they do however provide education and training in a specific manner at the same time. In this article selected approaches, theories and empirical results, which take into consideration cultural aspects of enterprises and company-focused occupational further education, are going to be systematized and discussed. Selected empirical results show how german-speaking exatriates in China structure their learning processes.
    Rosnąca różnorodność obywateli i zróżnicowane procesy migracyjne zachęcają do koncepcyjnych rozważań na temat doskonalenia zawodowego w zakładach pracy. W kontekście transnacjonalizacji przedsiębiorstwa przejmują zadania transferu kultury i związanej z tym kultury edukacyjnej. W artykule usystematyzowano i poddano dyskusji wybrane kierunki, teorie i badania empiryczne, które dotyczą kulturowych wymagań w zakładach pracy i doskonalenia zawodowego. Przykłady niemieckojęzycznych emigrantów ilustrują uczenie się w międzynarodowych przedsiębiorstwach.
    Die zunehmende Vielfalt der Bevölkerung einerseits sowie differenzielle Migrations- und Expatriierungsprozesse andererseits evozieren neue konzeptionelle Überlegungen für die beruflich-betriebliche Weiterbildung. Unternehmen übernehmen im Kontext der Transnationalisierung Funktionen des Kulturtransfers und einer beigeordneten Bildungsorganisation. Im Beitrag werden ausgewählte Ansätze, Theorien und empirische Ergebnisse systematisiert und diskutiert, die kulturelle Anforderungen im Unternehmen und in der beruflich-betrieblichen Weiterbildung aufgreifen. Exemplarische Ergebnisse zeigen, wie deutschsprachige Expatriates in transnationalen Unternehmen in China lernen.

    Potencjał kulturowy społeczeństwa jest wielowymiarowym zasobem obejmującym elementy materialne i niematerialne, m.in. zakorzenienie w kulturze i związane z nim orientacje mentalne, gotowość uczestnictwa w kulturze, łączące się z tym potrzeby i kompetencje, aktywność w różnych dziedzinach życia, wartości prorozwojowe. Szczególnym zasobem są kompetencje i moc wzorotwórcza elit. Innego typu elementy potencjału kulturowego to instytucje kultury wnoszące swój wkład w budowanie kapitału społecznego i kapitału kreatywności. Kolejnym jest szeroko rozumiane dziedzictwo kulturowe. Potencjał kulturowy jest tworzony przez działania jednostek, grup społecznych i instytucji funkcjonujących na różnych poziomach życia społecznego. Artykuł przedstawia koncepcję potencjału kulturowego społeczeństwa, defi niuje go, omawia jego rolę w procesach rozwoju, mechanizmy tworzenia i wzmacniania tego zasobu, wreszcie kwestie zarządzania nim.
    The cultural potential of society is a multidimensional resource that encompasses tangible and intangible elements, e.g. mental orientations rooted in culture, needs and competences in the sphere of cultural participation, and activities in other spheres of life, as well as pro-development values. A particular resource are competent elites able to create new patterns of behaviour. Another kind of cultural potential are cultural institutions that contribute to the creation of the social capital and the capital of creativity. Last but not least, there is cultural heritage. Th is potential is created by the actions of individuals, social groups, and institutions functioning on various levels of social life. Th e aim of this paper is to describe the idea of society’s cultural potential. It presents the defi nition of the cultural potential of society, its role in development processes, the issues of creating and strengthening this resource and of managing it.

    Kuchnia w Biszkeku jest autoryzowanym zapisem rozmowy, przeprowadzonej jesienią 2013 r., w stolicy Kirgistanu. Dyskusja, inspirowana wizytą w lokalnym muzeum, dotyczyła problemów wynikających z kulturowych reakcji człowieka na potrzeby biologiczne i pozabiologiczne. Wychodząc od koncepcji Bronisława Malinowskiego autorki podjęły refleksję nad możliwościami budowania takiej teorii kultury, która by wykorzystywała zróżnicowane lokalnie reakcje na uniwersalne potrzeby człowieka.
    Kitchen in Bishkek is an authorised transcription of a conversation which took place in autumn 2012, in the capital of Kirgizstan. The discussion, inspired by a visit to the local museum, was concerning the problems of a cultural reception of the human reaction to biological and non-biological needs. Using Bronisław Malinowski’s conception, the authors have pondered upon a possibility of creating a theory of culture, which would make a use of local differences of reactions to universal human needs.
