    Inhibitions in speaking (or fear of speaking) can affect communicative processes in cross-cultural groups of learners. They may result from numerous emotional, cognitive or psychophysiological factors. The article concentrates on the most common types of inhibitions observed in a group of students during a project based seminar which took place in Poznań in December 2016. The seminar was a joint venture organised by Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and the University of Marburg. The student participants were working on developing cultural teaching materials, and after the seminar they took part in a qualitative survey intended to examine their reflections concerning the project. The article presents a discussion of selected findings.

    Tekst omawia problematykę następstw kontaktu kulturowego. W konsekwencji zderzenia grup kulturowych w wyniku migracji dochodzi do procesów i zjawisk wzajemnego ich oddziaływania oraz złożonych interakcji społecznych i przemian kulturowych. Przemiany przybierają charakter wzajemnego dostosowania się i integrowania przybyszów ze społeczeństwem przyjmującym. W wielu przypadkach proces ten trwa kilka pokoleń i nie zawsze kończy się pełną asymilacją. Przystosowanie przebiega przez różne fazy, przybierając rozmaite formy. Początkiem uniwersalizacji kulturowej i transkulturacji, jako odpowiednika asymilacji, jest adaptacja i akomodacja. Przejście od kultury macierzystej do bardziej uniwersalnej kultury kraju osiedlenia jest o wiele bardziej złożonym procesem niż przystosowanie strukturalne. Wymaga przemian tożsamości uczestników asymilacji oraz przemian struktury grupowej. W tekście omówione są główne teorie i koncepcje asymilacji skonfrontowane z realnymi zjawiskami mającymi miejsce we współczesnym świecie.
    The text discusses the consequences of cultural encounter. The clash between groups of diff erent cultures in the result of migration provoke a phenomenon of reciprocal interactions and social and cultural changes of a great complexity. The nature of these changes is mutual adaptation and integration of newcomers with the hosting society. This process takes sometimes several generations and not always means the complete assimilation. The adaptation has various stages and forms, but the adaptation and accommodation stimulates cultural universalization and transculturation. The move from native culture into the more universal culture of the country of the settlement proves to be more complex than structural adaptation. It requires changes in the identity of people exposed to the process of assimilation and changes of the structure of the group. The article refers to main theories and concepts of assimilation which are confronted with the current phenomenon in the world.

    This paper seeks to resolve the problem of redefining cultural boundaries. Therefore, the following questions are addressed: 1) To what do cultural boundaries refer, and of what do they basically consist? 2) On what conditions and to what extent is the metaphor of cultural boundaries appropriate? 3) On what conditions can cultural boundaries be broken or crossed? These questions are examined based on a philosophical analysis that draws from Dave Elder-Vass’s The Reality of Social Construction (2012) and Alasdair MacIntyre’s Whose Justice? Which Rationality? (2003). As a major result, it is shown that the metaphor of boundaries is an appropriate tool for cultural studies, insofar as it helps to explain why different norms are followed in different cultures, and how cultural conflicts are related to breaking of norms endorsed and enforced by different social groups. The metaphor of boundaries fits this task, because with the help of it different cultures and social groups can be structured and represented as distinct collective entities, yet with blurred and changing borders, that can side, collide, and overlap with each other.

    Opis:
    In the article, we ask about the reasons and sources of the religious-social revival, that appeared on the Brazilian back-lands (sertões) at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries in the form of numerous millenarian and messianic movements and communities. There were different responses given on the questions of the reasons of phenomenon. In the first para-graph, we follow their evolution. In the next we consider that question from the perspective of the encounter of European culture with the cultures of the New World, understood as the process of the mutual interpenetration and the creation of a new religious mentality. In the final remarks, we make an attempt to determine the nature and extent of the relations in which the contents coming from different sources were constituting the religious and mental groundwork of the phenom-enon discussed.
    En el artículo preguntamos sobre las causas y fuentes del renacimiento religioso-social que tuvo lugar en los sertões bra-sileños en el cambio de los siglos XIX y XX, en forma de los numerosos movimientos y comunidades milenaristas y me-siánicas. Sobre la cuestión de las razones de este fenómeno se dieron diferentes respuestas. En el primer párrafo seguimos la evolución de las mismas. En la próxima consideramos esta cuestión en la perspectiva del encuentro de la cultura eu-ropea con las culturas del Nuevo Mundo, entendido como el proceso de la interpenetración mutua y la creación de una nueva mentalidad religiosa. En las observaciones finales tratamos de determinar la naturaleza y extensión de las relaciones entre los contenidos provenientes de las diferentes fuentes, constituidos el fundamento religioso y mental de los fenómenos discutidos.

    This chapter discusses theoretical approaches to accessibility, and transitions to the broader topic of inclusion, specifically referring to museums. The contribution stresses knowledge about audiences, which is necessary to foster inclusivity and overcome “dedicated” mediation tools and activities, aiming at (re)conquering disaffected and unused publics. It also identifies certain misunderstandings, e.g. regarding “cultural accessibility” and “persons with difficulties.” This chapter underlines the following constraints and opportunities in access to culture: authenticity and interpretation; interpretation as a hermeneutic circle involving different configurations of the sender-receiver-context triad; importance of the spatial context of communication as the first element in interpretation or mediation; accessibility to cultural contents (importance of the physical, social and economic context; the role of cognitive processes; the importance of the individuals cultural background; emotional involvement; and finally, references to recent neurophysiological research conducted by the authors. In this contribution, authors argue cultural accessibility to be a self-appropriation process, both intellectual and emotional: predominantly individual but closely interconnected with relational processes. Cultural appropriation intended in this way has nothing to do with political and social claims but should rather constitute the ultimate goal of heritage communication. Finally, the chapter highlights possible perspectives that require dedicated professional paths, updated composition of staff (the figure of architects-museographers as a permanent presence, since communication cannot be separated from the space in which it takes place); and new good practices.
    Niniejszy artykuł omawia teoretyczne podejścia do dostępności i przechodzi do szerszego tematu inkluzywności, w szczególności odnosząc się do muzeów. Podkreśla wiedzę o odwiedzających, która jest niezbędna do wspierania inkluzywności i przezwyciężenia "dedykowanych" narzędzi i działań mediacyjnych, mających na celu (od)podbicie zniechęconej i nieaktywnej publiczności. Pokazuje też pewne nieporozumienia, np. dotyczące "dostępności kulturowej" i "osób z trudnościami". Podkreśla następujące ograniczenia i możliwości w dostępie do kultury: autentyczność i interpretacja; interpretacja jako hermeneutyczny krąg obejmujący różne konfiguracje triady nadawca-odbiorca-kontekst; znaczenie kontekstu przestrzennego komunikacji jako pierwszego elementu interpretacji lub mediacji; dostępność do treści kulturowych (znaczenie kontekstu fizycznego, społecznego i ekonomicznego; rola procesów poznawczych; znaczenie tła kulturowego jednostek; zaangażowanie emocjonalne; i finalnie, odniesienia do ostatnich badań neurofizjologicznych prowadzonych przez autorów. W niniejszym artykule autorzy dowodzą, że dostępność kulturowa jest procesem przyswajania, zarówno intelektualnym, jak i emocjonalnym: głównie indywidualnym, ale ściśle powiązanym z procesami relacyjnymi. Tak rozumiane przyswajanie kultury nie ma nic wspólnego z roszczeniami politycznymi i społecznymi, lecz powinno raczej stanowić ostateczny cel komunikacji w zakresie dziedzictwa. Wreszcie rozdział ten wskazuje na możliwe perspektywy, które wymagają dedykowanych ścieżek zawodowych, zaktualizowanego składu personelu (stałej obecności architektów-muzeografów, ponieważ komunikacji nie można oddzielić od przestrzeni, w której się odbywa); oraz nowych dobrych praktyk.
