Opis:
This study discusses the application of two types of cubic spline, namely natural cubic spline and not-a-knotcubic spline. The applications of both types of splines are regarding rainfall data. The rainfall data studied were the monthly rainfall data for the year 2018 and 2019 in Bandung City which was obtained from the Bandung City Central Statistics Agency. Interpolation and analysis were carried out on all data using Maple software. As a result, interpolation using natural cubic spline and not-a-knotcubic spline shows a smoother and less oscillating graph than interpolation using Piecewise Linear and Polynomial Interpolation.

Opis:
The problem that is mostly related to the pattern of experimental time series data is the function that involves the data. Experimental data in the field of exact sciences is very important to conclude a problem. Existing data can form certain functions. In this research, we are looking for a function that represents the gas content of hydrogen and iodine in the reaction of acid iodide formation. This is achieved by using interpolation in which the function interpolates a given group of data points. Interpolation can also be used to evaluate the function at points different from the group. In addition to constructing and evaluating a functions by interpolation, we can also predict experimental data outside the given group of data points by using extrapolation. The results of data extrapolation can be used as an alternative to experimental data, thereby saving time and cost. This research will also compare interpolation and extrapolation of both Newton method and cubic splines, which one better interpolates and extrapolates data on hydrogen and iodine gas content in the reaction of acid iodide formation. The research results show that the cubic spline method is better than Newton method at approaching data, in terms of interpolation, as well as extrapolation.

The main aim of this paper is to propose Cubic Spline-Quantum Neural Network (CS-QNN) model for analysis and classification of Electroencephalogram (EEG) signals. Experimental data used here were taken from seven different electrodes. The work has been done in three stages, normalization of the signals, extracting the features by Cubic Spline Technique (CST) and classification using Quantum Neural Network (QNN). The simulation results showed that five types of EEG signals were classified with an average accuracy for seven electrodes that is 94.3% when training 70% of the features while with an average accuracy of 92.84% when training 50% of the features.

Wavelet transform algorithms (Mallat’s algorithm, a trous algorithm) require input data in the form of a sequence of numbers equal to the signal projection coefficients on a space spanned by integer-translated copies of a scaling function. After sampling of the continuous-time signal, it is most frequently possible to compute only approximated values of the signal projection coefficients by choosing a specific signal approximation. Calculation of the signal projection coefficients based on the signal interpolation by means of cubic B-splines is proposed in the paper.

Opis:
One of the key elements of the real-time C 1 -continuous cubic spline interpolation of streaming data is an estimator of the first derivative of the interpolated function that is more accurate than those based on finite difference schemas. Two such greedy look-ahead heuristic estimators, based on the calculus of variations (denoted as MinBE and MinAJ2), are formally defined (in closed form), along with the corresponding cubic splines that they generate. They are then comparatively evaluated in a series of numerical experiments involving different types of performance measures. The presented results show that the cubic Hermite splines generated by heuristic MinAJ2 significantly outperformed those that were based on finite difference schemas in terms of all of the tested performance measures (including convergence). The proposed approach is quite general. It can be directly applied to streams of univariate functional data like time-series. Multi-dimensional curves that are defined parametrically (after splitting) can be handled as well. The streaming character of the algorithm means that it can also be useful in processing data sets that are too large to fit in the memory (e.g., edge computing devices, embedded time-series databases).

Opis:
Sample-time errors can greatly degrade the dynamic range of a time-interleaved sampling system. In this paper, a novel correction technique employing a cubic spline interpolation is proposed for inter-channel sample-time error compensation. The cubic spline interpolation compensation filter is developed in the form of a finite-impulse response (FIR) filter structure. The correction method of the interpolation compensation filter coefficients is deduced. A 4GS/s two-channel, time-interleaved ADC prototype system has been implemented to evaluate the performance of the technique. The experimental results showed that the correction technique is effective to attenuate the spurious spurs and improve the dynamic performance of the system.

Opis:
ObjectivesExposure to light at night (LAN) can disturb circadian endocrine and metabolic rhythms. Hyperuricemia (HUA) is an early-onset metabolic disorder. However, it is still not clear whether LAN exposure increases the prevalence of HUA.Material and MethodsThe authors used crosssectional data on the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei occupational populations cohort from March–July 2017. A total of 7664 steel workers were finally selected to investigate the relationship between LAN exposure and the prevalence of HUA among steel workers. The authors collected demographic and socio-economic data, as well as information on lifestyle factors, anthropometric measures, and laboratory tests. The restricted cubic spline method was used to analyze the dose-response relationship between cumulative LAN exposure and the prevalence of HUA. Logistic regression analyses were used to fit the relationship between them.ResultsThe average age of the participants was 43.5±8.6 years; 7051 (91.7%) of them were males, 2749 (35.9%) reported to suffer from HUA, and 1241 (16.2%) were not exposed to LAN. There was a significant non-linear dose-response relationship between them. After adjustment for the confounding factors, including demographic data, lifestyle factors, etc., the lower LAN exposure was significantly associated with HUA (0–1931.7 days, OR = 1.180, and the 95% CI: 1.000–1.394; 1931.7–4343 days, OR = 1.215, 95% CI: 1.035–1.426).ConclusionsThis study revealed that a certain amount of exposure to LAN is independently related to the prevalence of HUA in steel workers in China.

Opis:
In the subject literature, wavelets such as the Mexican hat (the second derivative of a Gaussian) or the quadratic box spline are commonly used for the task of singularity detection. The disadvantage of the Mexican hat, however, is its unlimited support; the disadvantage of the quadratic box spline is a phase shift introduced by the wavelet, making it difficult to locate singular points. The paper deals with the construction and properties of wavelets in the form of cubic box splines which have compact and short support and which do not introduce a phase shift. The digital filters associated with cubic box wavelets that are applied in implementing the discrete dyadic wavelet transform are defined. The filters and the algorithme à trous of the discrete dyadic wavelet transform are used in detecting signal singularities and in calculating the measures of signal singularities in the form of a Lipschitz exponent. The article presents examples illustrating the use of cubic box spline wavelets in the analysis of signal singularities.

Opis:
Niniejsza praca bada podejścia do poprawy aproksymacji średniej lokalnej w celu otrzymania lepszych charakterystyk EMD.
Empirical mode decomposition (EMD) is an adaptive time-frequency domain signal processing method that is completely driven by data itself. The cubic spline interpolation method has been used to approximate the local mean in the sifting process of EMD. This study explores approaches to improve local mean approximation to obtain better EMD performance. A modifi ed monotone piecewise Hermite interpolation (MMPHI) method is applied to envelope mean approximation, because it demonstrates advantages over the cubic spline method. A type of direct approximation of the local mean, i.e., the windowed local mean (WLM) approach, is also investigated and its merit in identifying impulses is demonstrated.
