Opis:
The high-temperature deformation process and dynamic recrystallization (DRX) process of 21-4N were investigated under the conditions of the deformation temperature range of 1273~1453K, the strain rate range of 0.01~10s-1 and the deformation degree of 60% (the total deformation is 0.916) by using Gleeble-1500D thermal simulated test machine. The curves of stress-strain (σ – ε) were obtained, and the curves of work hardening rate (θ) and strain (ε) were obtained by taking derivative of σ – ε. The DRX critical strains under different conditions were determined by the curves of work hardening rate (θ – ε), and the DRX critical strain model was established. The peak strains of 21-4N were obtained by the curves of σ – ε, the relationship between peak stress (σp) and critical strain (εc) was determined, and the peak strain model was established. The DRX volume fraction models of 21-4N were established by using Avrami equation. The DRX grain size of 21-4N was calculated by Image Pro Plus 6.0, and its DRX grain size models were established.

Opis:
The hot deformation behaviors of vanadium and titanium microalloyed steels containing different nitrogen contents were studied by performing hot compression tests at various temperatures ranging from 900 to 1050°C and strain rates ranging from 0.1 to 10 s-1. The flow stress curves of the experimental steels were analyzed and the effect of nitrogen on the hot deformation behaviors of the vanadium titanium and nitrogen microalloyed steels was discussed. The results reveal that the flow stress increases with increasing nitrogen addition and the critical strain for the onset of dynamic recrystallization(DRX) also increases by adding nitrogen. Therefore, larger strain should be applied to start DRX in the experimental steel containing higher nitrogen content. The material constants and activation energies for hot deformation were determined by regression method and the effect of nitrogen on the activation energy was also discussed referring to the activation energies from the previous researches. It is found that higher nitrogen content contributes to higher activation energy for hot deformation. Furthermore, the DRX kinetics models for the experimental steels were constructed by regression method and the effect of nitrogen on the DRX rate under various deformation conditions was analyzed. And the inhibition of DRX by increasing nitrogen content is confirmed.

Opis:
Ductile fracture of low carbon structural steel (S235JR) at low initial stress triaxiality has been predicted using a method based on the Stress Modified Critical Strain (SMCS) crite- rion and the Gurson-Tvergaard-Needleman (GTN) material model. The influence of micro- defects on the material strength has been taken into account. The investigations, including tensile tests, have been conducted for standard cylindrical unnotched tensile specimens at low triaxial stresses. An advanced finite element method has been used to determine several SMCS model parameters.

Opis:
A five-zone describing model for extrusion of aluminum/copper clad composite was established. Stress and strain were also analyzed by finite element method. The distribution rules of grain size were researched by critical shear strain theory, and zoning phenomenon of grain size was discovered. The grain size of deformed aluminum material becomes gradually finer from center to the interface. The grain size is much fine and the critical shear strain reaches the maximum value in the interface. The grain size of copper material reduces gradually from center to both the interface and exterior surface, which is caused by the higher value of critical shear strain in the interface and exterior surface. The analysis results were verified by microstructure observation and mechanical properties test, indicating that the distribution of grain size for cold extrusion forming can be interpreted by critical shear strain theory.

Opis:
The paper deals with the derivation of the basic stability equations of bilayered elastic-plastic conical shells and a approximate solution to these equations, both theroretocally and by numerical procedures. The subject of the analysis is a bilayered open conical shell under a combined load comprising longitudinal forces and external pressure. Kirchhoff-Love's hypotheses hold for the layers, and use is made of constitutive relations in the form of generalized Hooke's law for the elastic stability analysis, and the Prandtl-Reuss incremental plasticity theory for the stability analysis in the elastic-plastic range. The stability equations are derived using the virtual work principle, and Ritz's method is applied to solve the equations. An iterative computer algorithm has been developed which made it possible to analyse the shells in the elastic, elastic-plastic or totally plastic prebuckling state of stress. The numerical results are presented in diagrams.
Tematem pracy jest wyprowadzenie podstawowych równań stateczności dwuwarstwowych otwartych sprężysto-plastycznych powłok stożkowych i przybliżone rozwiązanie tych równań w sposób analityczny i numeryczny. Przedmiotem analizy jest swobodnie podparta dwuwarstwowa powłoka w kształcie wycinka stożka poddana działaniu obciążenia złożonego w postaci sił podłużnych i ciśnienia poprzecznego. Równania stateczności wyprowadzono na podstawie zasady minimum energii potencjalnej powłoki, a do rozwiązania zastosowano metodę Ritza. Wyniki numeryczne otrzymano za pomocą specjalnie zbudowanej iteracyjnej procedury numerycznej z wykorzystaniem komputera.

Upper Silesian Coal Basin
Opis:
Natural humidity of rocks in the Upper Silesian Coal Basin results from the influence of mining activities and dewatering the rock mass. The state of humidity which best approximates laboratory rock tests to the conditions in the exploited rock mass is the capillary saturation state. Deformation properties of sandstones (Young’s modulus, post-peak failure modulus, critical strain, residual strain) were determined for samples of slenderness ratio of 1 and 2, which were loaded in a servo-controlled testing machine. In the samples of sandstones of different slenderness ratio, values of Young’s modulus decreased for the samples in dry-air condition and capillary saturation state. In the samples of rocks of different slenderness ratio, tested in the same state of humidity, an increase in the value of Young’s modulus was observed. The increase depends on grain size. Post-peak failure modulus of sandstones shows similar trends of changes depending on slenderness ratio, state of humidity of the samples and their grain size. In the conditions when the samples of sandstones of slenderness ratio of 1, were tested in two states of humidity, values of critical strain decreased by a few per cent. For the samples of greater slenderness ratio, which also were tested in two states of humidity there was an increase in the value of critical strain and in humidity. For the samples of slenderness ratio of 1 and 2 tested in dry-air condition and in capillary saturation state there was a decrease in the value of critical strain by a few tens percent. The trends of changes in values of residual strain are the same as of critical strain. Based on the conducted tests it was shown that humidity and slenderness ratio of the sandstone samples influence differently their deformability. Humidity has a greater influence on the value of Young’s modulus than slenderness ratio of the tested samples. For critical strain and residual strain it was demonstrated that slenderness ratio of the samples has a greater influence than humidity. Moreover, a greater influence of the value of residual strain, in comparison with the values of critical strain, was observed for sandstone samples of lower slenderness ratio.

Opis:
Purpose Develop a method for determining and evaluating the stress-strain state, particularly the distribution of thermomechanical stresses in the materials of individual rotating parts of vehicles. Design/methodology/approach The proposed method is based on the principle of gradual approximations of the solution when the boundary conditions are satisfied on the curvilinear limiting surfaces of the disk body. Findings The proposed method of determining and estimating the distribution of thermomechanical stresses in the disk material makes it possible to take into account the variable geometry: thickness and presence of a hole in the central part of the disk, also correctly determine stress-strain state at any point of unevenly heated rotating axial body. Research limitations/implications The work uses generally accepted assumptions and limitations for thermomechanical calculations. Originality/value It is proved that in real disks, the stress-strain state is spatial, and the well - known method based on the hypotheses of the plane-stress state does not provide the possibility of calculating the values of stresses in the thickness of the disk. The obtained results can be used to improve the methodology of auto technical examination of road accidents. In addition, they can be taken into account by bus drivers on urban routes when choosing a safe distance in heavy traffic, as well as design engineers of car brake systems.
