    Opis:
    A method of predicting the influence random events on the critical functionality of an object is discussed. Research is performed regarding the possibility of extending a prediction model to a prediction system by functionally uniting this model with additional models or recognizing the type of influence of a random event on a complex technical object. The proposed solution is importatnt because executing a prediction system instead of a prediction model allows one to detect critical situations that, when influencing technical objects, can result in the catastrophic loss of functionality of the corresponding objects.

    W artykule opisane zostały wyniki badań analitycznych dotyczące wpływu wybranych grup czynników na efektywność pracy podczas realizacji procedur chirurgicznych techniką laparoskopową. Badania przeprowadzone zostały w rzeczywistym środowisku pracy personelu medycznego, co pozwoliło na dokonanie wiarygodnej klasyfikacji grup czynników oraz identyfikacji zdarzeń krytycznych w poszczególnych grupach. Opisane zdarzenia krytyczne dały podstawę do opracowania drzewa zdarzeń, które pozwoliło na zdefiniowanie zależności przyczynowo-skutkowych w całym procesie realizacji procedur chirurgicznych.
    The research outcomes including analytical study on the impact of selected group of factors on work effectiveness during laparoscopic surgeries are presented in the article. The research was performed in the real working environment of medical staff, what was helpful in defining reliable classification of the group of factors and identifying critical events in the certain groups. The described critical events were the basis for developing event tree, and hence defining cause-and-effect relationships within the whole surgical procedures.

    The article contains deliberations on the subject of adult learning as a result of breaking points in people’s lives. It is based on Fritz Schütze and Gerhard Riemann’s concept of the trajectory, trying to show the educational potential of critical life events. The paper constitutes an illustration about learning and biography. The analysis concerns an individual who experienced domestic violence, was separated from her family of origin by being placed in a care and educational institution, whose life was additionally complicated by teenage pregnancy and motherhood. The analysis of the narrative makes it possible to see two dimensions of the relationship between learning and biography – learning from the experiences we face during life and biographical learning (or learning from a biography).

    RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The main aim is to show the narrative of a woman who experienced critical events in her personal life. THE RESEARCH PROBLEMS AND METHODS: 1. How does the narrator describe critical events based on her family experience? 2. What meaning does she ascribe to the events experienced in retrospect? The presented research is situated in the interpretative research tradition. A descriptive‑theoretical type of case study was used. Empirical data was collected using Fritz Schütze’s narrative interview technique. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The interview began by presenting the narrator’s life story from her childhood to the present day. Attention was paid to her understanding of herself and her life, her relationship with her parents, and critical events that occurred in her family. The empirical material was then interpreted based on Schütze’s process structures, which revealed her current life course, critical events in the family and landmark events in the narrator’s individual biography. RESEARCH RESULTS: The interpretation of the empirical material showed the narrator in the process of change, internal metamorphoses. It revealed poor intra‑family relations, which became the cause of illness, lack of self‑acceptance, and depressive and anxious states. The therapy that she underwent, satisfying professional work and mutual feelings of love allowed the narrator to overcome her limitations, weaknesses and take a critical look at the family relationships that were the cause of her pain and suffering. CONCLUSIONS, RECOMMENDATIONS AND APPLICABLE VALUE OF RESEARCH: The narrative presented in the paper can become a stimulus for change in people who are currently struggling with family problems, illness or suffering: all those people who experience anxiety and loneliness in the space of family life.
    CEL NAUKOWY: Głównym celem jest ukazanie narracji kobiety, która doświadczyła zdarzeń krytycznych w przestrzeni życia rodzinnego. PROBLEMY I METODY BADAWCZE: Postawiono problemy badawcze: 1. W jaki sposób narratorka opisuje zdarzenia krytyczne na bazie swoich rodzinnych doświadczeń? 2. Jakie znaczenia przypisuje przeżytym zdarzeniom krytycznym z perspektywy czasu? Prezentowane badania usytuowano w interpretatywistycznej tradycji badawczej. Zastosowano opisowo‑teoretyczny typ studium przypadku. Dane empiryczne zebrano techniką wywiadu narracyjnego Fritza Schützego. PROCES WYWODU: Wywód rozpoczęto przedstawieniem historii życia narratorki, począwszy od dzieciństwa aż do dnia dzisiejszego. Zwrócono uwagę na sposób rozumienia siebie i swojego życia, relacji z rodzicami, krytycznych zdarzeń, które miały miejsce w przestrzeni życia rodzinnego. Następnie dokonano interpretacji materiału empirycznego na podstawie struktur procesowych Schützego, które odsłoniły dotychczasowy bieg życia, zdarzenia krytyczne w rodzinie, przełomowe wydarzenia w biografii indywidualnej narratorki. WYNIKI ANALIZY NAUKOWEJ: Interpretacja materiału empirycznego ukazała narratorkę w procesie zmian, wewnętrznych przemian. Ujawniła złe relacje wewnątrzrodzinne będące przyczyną wystąpienia choroby, braku akceptacji siebie, wystąpienia stanów depresyjnych, lękowych. Podjęta terapia, satysfakcjonująca praca zawodowa, odwzajemnione uczucie miłości pozwoliło narratorce pokonać ograniczenia, słabości, krytycznie spojrzeć na relacje rodzinne przysparzające bólu i cierpienia. WNIOSKI, REKOMENDACJE I APLIKACYJNE ZNACZENIE WPŁYWU BADAŃ: Przedstawiona w artykule opowieść narracyjna może stać się bodźcem do wprowadzenia zmian u osób, które w chwili obecnej zmagają się z kłopotami rodzinnymi, z trajektorią choroby czy cierpieniem, tych wszystkich, którzy w przestrzeni życia rodzinnego doświadczają poczucia lęku, osamotnienia.

    Wprowadzenie. Przyjęcie do rodziny zastępczej można uznać za krytyczne wydarzenie w życiu dziecka z uwagi za zakres i charakter trudności, jakich ono doświadcza. Cel. Celem artykułu jest analiza doświadczeń dziecka przyjętego do rodziny zastępczej w świetle teorii krytycznych wydarzeń życiowych. Materiały i metody. W przygotowaniu tekstu tego artykułu posłużono się analizą literatury przedmiotu. Wyniki. Trudności doświadczane przez dziecko rozpoczynające ten etap swego życia, w którym funkcjonuje w rodzinie zastępczej, to przede wszystkim naruszające poczucie bezpieczeństwa, radykalne zmiany środowiska rodzinnego, szkolnego i lokalnego, utrata codziennych interakcji ze znanymi osobami i konieczność nawiązywania nowych. Dla emocjonalnych i behawioralnych reakcji dziecka na wydarzenie, jakim jest przyjęcie go do rodziny zastępczej, szczególne znaczenie ma jego poznawcze ustosunkowanie się do tego wydarzenia, jego przyczyn i skutków. Wnioski. Dla pełnego zrozumienia sytuacji dziecka i skutecznego wsparcia, niezbędna jest trafna diagnoza sposobu doświadczania przez dziecko wydarzenia, jakim jest przyjęcie do rodziny zastępczej, jak również deficytów i zasobów jakimi ono dysponuje. Głównym zadaniem opiekunów dziecka jest budowanie środowiska dającego mu poczucie bezpieczeństwa i przynależności. Realizacja tego zadania powinna dokonywać się w ścisłej współpracy z instytucjami i osobami zaangażowanymi w organizację pieczy zastępczej. Ważna jest także współpraca z osobami z najbliższych dziecku środowisk: rodziny biologicznej oraz szkoły.
    Introduction. Admission to a foster family may be considered a critical event in a child’s life due to the extent and nature of the diffi culties they experience. Aim. This article aims to analyse the experiences of a child admitted to a foster family, in the context of the theory of critical life events. Materials and methods. This article is based on a subject literature review. Results. The diffi culties experienced by the child beginning a new stage in their life – living in foster care include, fi rst of all, radical changes in the family, school, and local community environments that violate the child’s sense of security, the loss of daily interactions with people that the child is familiar with, and the resulting need to make new relationships. A child’s cognitive attitude to the event of being taken in by a foster family, with its causes and effects, has a particular importance for their reactions (emotional, and behavioural) to it. Conclusions. In order to fully understand the child’s situation and provide effective support, it is necessary to accurately assess the way they experience being admitted to a foster family, as well as their personal resources and defi cits. The main task of a child’s guardian is to create an environment that gives them a sense of security and belonging. The implementation of this task should be conducted in close cooperation with the institutions and people involved in the management of foster care. It is also important to cooperate with people from the environments closest to the child: their biological family, and school.

    Inspiracją do napisania tego artykułu stała się z jednej strony, sytuacja krytyczna, w której od marca 2020 roku uczestniczymy wszyscy – mieszkańcy różnych kontynentów i różnych krajów na całym świecie, z drugiej zaś strony, jest to moje doświadczenie akademickie, podzielane przez pracujących ze mną Koleżanki i Kolegów – nauczycieli akademickich. Prowadzone przeze mnie badania spełniają więc wszystkie warunki krytycznych badań zaangażowanych: wynikają z własnych doświadczeń biograficznych, są ważnym „głosem w sprawie”, są zakorzenione w aktualnej, krytycznej sytuacji społecznej i mają na celu demaskowanie, odsłanianie rzeczywistych a często ukrytych praktyk społecznych oraz zachowań. Są nimi zapisane w tytule style kierowania szkołą wyższą (uniwersytetem, akademią, uczelnią akademicką, zawodową) w sytuacji krytycznej, związanej z pandemią SarsCov2019. Jakie style kierowania aktualizują się w sytuacji krytycznej, które są wybierane, preferowane przez kadrę zarządzającą i jakie są tego konsekwencje? To pytania, na które spróbuję odpowiedzieć. Zgodnie z wcześniejszymi deklaracjami zrobię to zarówno opierając się na wywiadach z władzami kilku polskich uniwersytetów oraz uczelni a także wykorzystując autoetnografię.
    The inspiration for writing this article is on the one hand, the critical event caused by the COVID-19 pandemic that is being shared by all people around the world and that affects us all universally. On the other hand, it is my academic experience, shared by my colleagues – academic teachers. Therefore, the research I conducted meets all the conditions of critical engaged research: it stems from my own biographical experiences, it is an important opinion on the issue, it is rooted in the current, critical social event and it is aimed at unmasking, revealing real social practices and behaviors. Described below are the styles of managing institutions of higher education (of different kinds – vocational, academic, etc.) in a critical event related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Which management styles are being updated in a critical situation, which are selected and preferred by management, and what are the consequences? These are the questions I will try to answer. In accordance with aforementioned declarations, I will do it based on interviews with the authorities of several Polish institutions of higher education, as well as on the basis of autoethnography.

    This paper is both a summarization and extension of [6] and [7], where a stochastic model of interacting operations carried out in a generic Baltic Sea Region port was proposed and analyzed. Each operation involves a number of possible unwanted events (critical incidents) whose instances occur randomly and can cause instances of other events affecting this or other operations. This can lead to a cause-effect chain of events affecting one or multiple operations. The model presented in [6] is somewhat complex, therefore it was downgraded to a simpler, application-oriented version demonstrated in [7], where an algorithm computing the risks of critical incidents is constructed and then applied to a real-life example. The current paper, apart from presenting a method of computing the risks of critical incidents, occurring by themselves or resulting from the cascade effect, also features a method of root-cause analysis of such incidents. First, the formulas for the root-cause probabilities are derived, where such a probability quantifies the likelihood that a critical incident occurring in step h of a cascade was caused by another incident that initiated this cascade. Second, an algorithm computing the root-cause probabilities, based on the derived formulas, is constructed. This algorithm is illustrated by its application to the example given in [7]. The presented results can be used as a tool for fault propagation analysis and fault diagnosis applied not only to a port environment, but to any complex industrial system.

    Vulnerability of a transportation network influences, importantly, the function of public service systems constituted on the network. To be able to study the importance of an individual network arc for proper functionality of the system, we suggested a characteristic function of the arc transit time elongation together with its upper and lower estimations. We also suggested and verified an algorithm that enables the determination of parameters of the characteristic estimation, and we provide a reader with a computational study performed with real road networks.

Ponadto artykuł przedstawia procedury: opracowania scenariuszy zdarzeń niekorzystnych, budowy problemu decyzyjnego oraz weryfikacji zabezpieczeń zaproponowanych w ramach reakcji na rozpoznane zagrożenia, na które podatny jest rozpatrywany obiekt.
    The paper presents the concept and functional requirements of an IT tool to assist in the development of adverse event scenarios and the location of this IT tool in the process of civil planning. In addition, the paper provides procedures: development of adverse events scenarios, determination of a decision problem and verification of safeguards proposed in response to identified threats to which the object under consideration is exposed.
