    Legal solutions adopted over the past few years in Poland indicate that attempts are being systematically made to improve the mechanism for counteracting terrorism. Terrorism in Poland has been opposed for a long time. The commencement of such systematic solutions took place on the 25th of October 2006 through the appointment by the Prime Minister of the Inter-ministerial Team for Terrorist Threats and ended ten years later, on the 10th of June 2016, by the adoption of the law on anti-terrorist activities. For the above-mentioned reasons, the two main parts are devoted to the issues of the commencement of legal and organisational undertakings in the fight against terrorism and the characteristics of systemic statutory solutions are preceded by considerations with conclusions. The article discusses the issues of initiatives undertaken by the government administration and presents the circumstances in which it tried to face up to the problem of developing draft laws of the law now in force. In consequence, this serves to present the areas of responsibility and tasks of government administration bodies specified in the said Act. The considerations presented in this study indicate that global and national experience gained in recent years has shaped the“Polish model of combating terrorism”, which has recently found its confirmation in the relevant legal provisions. The basis for the development of this article is the interest in improving the effectiveness of combating terrorism which, for obvious reasons, is not reducing and remains very substantial. This applies to both theoreticians and practitioners. This results first of all from the needs of the challenges and threats that are subject to dynamic changes. Secondly, through the adaptation of the tools used by the state, including those mainly legal of a legal nature. These must be improved from the moment of their implementation.

    The author presents poetry by Kamila Janiak in the context of avant-guard pop-culture. She deals mainly with punk and cyber-punk motifs of this poetry, which alow to understand them as a feminist, post-human and anty-capitalist project. She shows how Janiak for her purposes uses d.tournements: she takes on the one hand principles, which rule in the “controlled societies” and on the other hand pop-culture aesthetics and psychodelic rock music.

    This article provides a comparative analysis of the functioning of direct democracy within two social movements, operating in different socio-cultural conditions: the American student movement of the 1960s, and the Occupy Wall Street (OWS) move ment of 2011. The author assumes that the idea of direct democracy is evolving in terms of tactics and consistently developing in the course of succeeding social movements and struggles. To prove the point, the author analyzes student counter-culture organizations and OWS in regard to their relation to violence, the idea of alternative governance by the social movement, human relations inside the movement, and the concept of the enemy in respect to which the alternative is being formed.

    Celem artykułu jest analiza socjokulturowych aspektów mapy oraz pragmatyki tworzenia, wprowadzania do obiegu, użytkowania, także społecznego modyfikowania. Spektrum takich aktywności obejmuje zarówno działania profesjonalne, jak i wernakularne, kompetencje twórcze i odbiorcze. Mapa jest definiowana jako fakt kulturowy, który podlega na wielu poziomach zmiennym historycznie i geograficznie uwarunkowaniom. W artykule wskazano na proces demo- kratyzacji mapy oraz na jej funkcje: propagandowe, perswazyjne, rewindykacyjne, kompensacyjne, emocjonalne i autobiograficzne.
    The aim of the article is to analyze the sociocultural aspects of the map and the pragmatics of creating, putting into circulation, using and modifying it in society. The spectrum of such activities includes both professional and vernacular actions, as well as creative and receiving competences. A map is defined as a cultural fact that is subject to historically and geographically changing conditions on many levels. The article indicates the democratization process of the map and its functions: propagandist, persuasive, recovery, compensatory, emotional and autobiographical.

    Wśród wielu form współczesnych kryzysów społeczno-kulturowych jego niezwykle trudną postacią jest kryzys informacyjny, stanowiący skutek uboczny panowania ponowoczesnej cywilizacji informacyjnej. W dość częstym, pesymistycznym ujęciu, kryzys informacyjny rozumiany jest jako nadprodukcja informacji tekstowych, wizualnych i dźwiękowych, do której dochodzi w sferze potocznej i w kulturze wysokiej. Ta nadprodukcja prowadzi do dewaluacji informacji oraz do innych, mniej przewidywalnych i poważniejszych konsekwencji. Zazwyczaj w takim katastroficznym ujęciu nie widzi się już żadnych możliwości uwolnienia się od tego „duszącego” nadmiaru informacji. W artykule podejmuje się jednak próbę wydobycia i prezentacji możliwości szerszego i bardziej realistycznego spojrzenia na kryzys informacyjny. Przy wydobywaniu tego głębszego obrazu obecnego kryzysu informacyjnego, jak i kryzysu jako takiego, zostają wzięte pod uwagę wyniki badań z różnych dziedzin nauk humanistyczno-społecznych, tzn. z psychologii poznawczej, psychologii ludzkiego rozwoju, psychologii kryzysu i interwencji kryzysowej, socjologii kultury. Artykuł nabiera w ten sposób charakteru interdyscyplinarnego, lecz ostatecznie zostaje zwieńczony syntezą filozoficzno-kulturową. Zostają też opisane, za socjologiem kultury Tomaszem Szlendakiem, strategie zaradcze przeciwko negatywnym przejawom przeciążenia informacyjnego, wśród których szczególną uwagę poświęca się wartości milczenia
    Unter den vielen Formen zeitgenössischer soziokultureller Krisen ist die Informationskrise, die eine Begleiterscheinung der postmodernen Informationszivilisation darstellt, eine besonders schwierige Form. In einer häufig anzutreffenden pessimistischen Sichtweise wird die Informationskrise als Überproduktion von textlichen, visuellen und akustischen Informationen verstanden, die in der Umgangssprache und in der Hochkultur stattfindet. Diese Überproduktion führt zur Entwertung von Informationen und zu anderen, weniger vorhersehbaren und schwerwiegenden Folgen. Gewöhnlich sieht man in einer solchen katastrophalen Sichtweise keine Möglichkeit mehr, sich aus diesem „erstickenden“ Übermaß an Information zu befreien. In diesem Artikel wird jedoch versucht, die Möglichkeit einer umfassenderen und realistischeren Perspektive auf die Informationskrise aufzuzeigen und darzustellen. Bei der Erarbeitung dieses umfassenderen Bildes der gegenwärtigen Informationskrise sowie der Krise an sich werden Forschungsergebnisse aus verschiedenen Bereichen der Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften, d.h. aus der kognitiven Psychologie, der Psychologie der menschlichen Entwicklung, der Psychologie der Krise und der Krisenintervention sowie der Kultursoziologie, berücksichtigt. Der Beitrag ist somit interdisziplinär angelegt, wird aber letztlich durch eine philosophisch-kulturelle Synthese gekrönt. In Anlehnung an den Kultursoziologen Tomasz Szlendak werden auch Abhilfestrategien gegen die negativen Erscheinungsformen der Informationsüberflutung beschrieben, wobei dem Wert der Stille besondere Aufmerksamkeit gewidmet wird.
    Among various forms of contemporary socio-cultural crises, one of the most challenging is the information crisis, which arises as a consequence of the dominance of postmodern information civilization. Often viewed through a pessimistic lens, the information crisis is understood as the excessive production of textual, visual, and auditory information in both public sphere and high culture. This surplus of information leads to its devaluation and has unforeseen and significant consequences. From this catastrophic perspective, there seems to be no escape from this overwhelming abundance of information. However, this article aims to provide a broader and more realistic understanding of the information crisis. To achieve this comprehensive perspective, the article draws upon research findings from various fields within the humanities and social sciences, such as cognitive psychology, psychology of human development, psychology of crisis and crisis intervention, and sociology of culture. By incorporating these interdisciplinary insights, the article culminates in a philosophical and cultural synthesis. Additionally, the article explores remedial strategies proposed by Tomasz Szlendak (a cultural sociologist) to counter the negative effects of information overload, with particular emphasis the value of silence.

    The author assumes that the curiosity is a type of human expression. It can manifest in various languages and people’s behaviors, e.g.: verbal, mimic, gestural, costume and also by props, hairstyles, makeup etc. Regardless of differences between particular manifestations of the curiosity it is always semiotic. Freaks, eccentrics and weirdos disturb human community’s order and call into question established norms. They do that by their specific behaviors, appearances and individualism. They rectify, transform and change the social reality. The artistic curiosity not infrequently turn out to be the metaphor of an individual lifestyle (e.g. Witkacy, Dali). Freaks in the world of culture are not either savages or barbarians. They express themselves as well as they express their distance from the cultural system. In connection to this thesis, the author assumes that the curiosity is culture-producing.

    The aim of the article is to show the way in which the technologically mediated culture of consumption determines what we call lifestyle in the perspective of the critical cultural studies paradigm. Contemporary consumption, based as it is on the counter-cultural ideas which appeal to difference, creativity and lifestyle, solves the central problem of consumerism – supplying a constant stream of novelty in a situation where things are losing just this quality. Lifestyle has become a life strategy, the framework for interpreting consumer choice suggests that freely made decisions concerning symbolic and aesthetic pleasures provide a sense of fulfilment in a successful and varied lifestyle. Culture is increasingly perceived through the prism of who we should be, and what we should have, in order to achieve by means of these an illusory goal, namely that of identity.
