    Opis:
    A spent vanadium catalyst, from the plant of metallurgical type, was leached in a sulfuric acid solution to recover vanadium and potassium compounds. The effect of time, temperature, concentration of acid, catalyst particle size and phase ratio was studied. Additionally the concentration of iron, copper, zinc, arsenic and lead compounds was determined. The flow sheet for the proposed process of spent vanadium catalyst leaching is presented.

    Opis:
    Przeprowadzono badania zastosowania katalizatorów miedziowych do produkcji wodoru w procesie rozkładu metanolu. Badano katalizatory w postaci tlenków metali CuOZnOZrO2 z dodatkami tlenku galu, chromu oraz chromu i ceru, a także katalizator CuOZnOAl2O3 promowany tlenkiem cyrkonu. Najwyższą wydajność wodoru wykazują katalizatory: CuOZnOAl2O3 promowany tlenkiem cyrkonu oraz katalizator CuOZnOZrO2 z dodatkiem tlenku galu. Stwierdzono, iż katalizator wytworzony metodą hydrotalkitową wykazuje najlepszą aktywność w badanym procesie.
    The studies of Cu catalyst usage in a hydrogen production in the methanol decomposition process were performed. Oxide metal of CuOZnOZrO2-based catalysts with Ga, Cr and Ce additives and CuOZnOAl2O3-based ones promoted by Zr were investigated. The highest hydrogen yield was achieved with CuOZnOAl2O3ZrO2 catalysts and CuOZnOZrO2Ga2O3 ones. It was established that the catalyst produced by hydrotalcite method showed the best activity.

    Opis:
    Hydrogen is the fuel of the future, therefore many hydrogen production methods are developed. At present, fuel cells are of great interest due to their energy efficiency and environmental benefits. A brief review of effective formation methods of hydrogen was conducted. It seems that hydrogen from steam reforming of methanol process is the best fuel source to be applied in fuel cells. In this process Cu-based complex catalysts proved to be the best. In presented work kinetic equations from available literature and catalysts are reported. However, hydrogen produced even in the presence of the most selective catalysts in this process is not pure enough for fuel cells and should be purified from CO. Currently, catalysts for hydrogen production are not sufficiently active in oxidation of carbon monoxide. A simple and effective method to lower CO level and obtain clean H2 is the preferential oxidation of monoxide carbon (CO-PROX). Over new CO-PROX catalysts the level of carbon monoxide can be lowered to a sufficient level of 10 ppm.

    Opis:
    The results of studies on the thermal decomposition of potassium chlorate(VII) (PP) and the catalytic effects of copper, iron, nickel, titanium, magnesium, chromium and manganese oxides on the process are presented in this paper. The investigated oxides are ranked according to the magnitude of their catalytic effect; of these, CuO and МnО2 show the best catalytic performance. These oxides reduce the PP decomposition temperature from 919.3 K down to even 825.2 K. The share of the catalytic additive in the composition, required to achieve a desirable thermal decomposition profile, was found to be no more than 0.5 wt.%. The activation energy of the decomposition process was determined, using the modified Freeman and Carroll method for both neat PP and PP supplemented with MnO2; the addition of the catalyst produced a 48.8% decrease in the activation energy of thermal decomposition.

    Opis:
    A spent vanadium catalyst, from the plant of metallurgical type, was leached in a potassium hydroxide solution to recover vanadium. The effect of time, temperature, concentration of basic, catalyst particle size and phase ratio was studied. The results showed that for a 160–750 μm catalyst leached for 4 h at 313.15 K in the presence of 10% potassium hydroxide solution at a liquid: solid ratio of 20:1, the extent of leaching of V was about 87%. Additionally, separation of vanadium from such a solution was investigated by the ion exchange method. Two types of polymer strongly basic ion exchangers were used. The ion exchange tests indicate that vanadium were loaded from the post-leaching solution with high efficiency. On this basis a flowsheet for the proposed process of a complex utilization of the spent vanadium catalyst is presented.
