    Research background: Flexibility has become a possible means for manufacturing companies to better compete in competitive markets. Furthermore, innovations are perceived as an important factor in company strategy, which can differentiate the company from the competition. Purpose of the article: This present study investigates the problems of cooperation flexibility and innovation flexibility in manufacturing companies among electrical engineering companies in the Czech Republic. The aim of this paper is to identify the impact of cooperation flexibility on innovation flexibility in small and medium-sized manufacturing companies. Methods: A questionnaire addressed to SMEs in the form of the Likert scale was prepared to gather information about cooperation flexibility and innovation flexibility. All parts of the questionnaire were tested using Cronbach Alpha. Spearman correlation and regression analysis were used for analysis. Findings & value added: The results of the research show that external cooperation flexibility and internal cooperation flexibility is related to innovation flexibility in SMEs. Results of the research show that there is a positive relationship 1) between external cooperation flexibility and innovation flexibility and 2) between innovation flexibility and business performance at SMEs. The findings of the research contribute to an understanding of the relationship between cooperation flexibility, innovation flexibility and also innovation performance. The novelty value of this paper lies in its perception of flexibility as having two parts, namely external (with suppliers and customers) and internal cooperation flexibility. In addition, innovation flexibility was investigated in two fields, product, and accompanying services to products. The view mentioned provides a complex view of flexibility.

    To overcome the challenges posed by increasing competition, many traditional manufacturing companies are moving from the mere production of manufacturing goods to the integration of services that are more or less integrated into the product, which is also due to the constant development of the industry. Moreover, many manufacturing companies offer products that use smart technologies. This paper focuses on the importance of smart service provision for cooperation and innovation flexibility, innovation performance and business performance in small and medium manufacturing companies. The paper aims to find out if smart service manufacturing providers are different in cooperation and innovation flexibility and innovation and business performance from non-smart service manufacturing providers. To better understand the issue, research was undertaken in 112 small and medium manufacturing companies of the Czech Republic. The problems of smart service provision were investigated in the first empirical research held among the electric engineering companies (CZ-NACE 26 and CZ-NACE 27) in the Czech Republic. The findings show that smart service manufacturing providers are better in internal cooperation flexibility, innovation flexibility related to product and to accompanying services and in business performance than non-smart service manufacturing providers. Theoretical implication contributes in two specific ways: first, in the presentation of the interconnection of smart services and cooperation flexibility, innovation flexibility, innovation performance and business performance; and second, in the identification of the impact of smart services in manufacturing SMEs and in finding out which areas affect the provision of smart services. The findings can have a positive influence in several areas; therefore, they can be important factors for many manufacturing companies which still need some persuasion to offer smart services.

    Enhanced cooperation (originally closer cooperation) was inserted into the EU institutional and legal system by the Amsterdam Treaty in a response to political calls for establishment of a mechanism that would allow for deeper integration of only some Member States (“coalitions of the willing”) in the ever-enlarging EU. As such, this step meant a break with the unity dogma the European integration had been traditionally built upon and provided for institutionalised differentiation in the EU. Redesigned by both the Treaty of Nice and the Treaty of Lisbon, enhanced cooperation has materialized in 5 cases since 2010. Apart from that, possibility of a recourse to enhanced cooperation has played a role in negotiation strategies within the EU decision-making process and in reflections on the future of the EU. While enhanced cooperation is not a magic panacea to divergences of opinions on the European integration between individual Member States, in particular, middle-sized and small Member States including the Czech Republic shall not underestimate the potential this mechanism might have.

    Sieci międzyorganizacyjne często utożsamia się z wysoką elastycznością i zdolnościami adaptacyjnymi. Brak jest jednak jednoznacznych potwierdzeń empirycznych w tym obszarze, w szczególności dotyczących elastyczności na płaszczyźnie wewnątrzorganizacyjnej. Głównym celem opracowania jest prezentacja wyników badań terenowych nad elastycznością strategii organizacji węzłowych. Wykorzystując metodę przekrojowego studium przypadku, pogłębionej analizie poddano siedem przedsiębiorstw, stosując różne techniki gromadzenia danych, a dwa przedsiębiorstwa scharakteryzowano szczegółowo w opracowaniu. Zaprezentowane badania ukazują przykłady przeciwnych kierunków zmian w obszarze elastyczności strategicznej w warunkach współpracy sieciowej. W przypadku jednego z obiektów badania zaobserwowano, że rzeczywiście zwiększeniu stopnia intensyfikacji powiązań sieciowych towarzyszyło zwiększenia stopnia elastyczności strategii. W drugim jednak kierunek ten był odwrotny – zwiększanie stopnia intensyfikacji współpracy sieciowej skutkowało „usztywnieniem” strategii działalności.
    Inter-organizational networks are frequently associated with high degree of adaptive capabilities as well as sense and respond approach, although there is a lack of empirical evidence in this field, especially concerning flexibility at the micro level analysis. The main aim of the paper is to present the results of field studies on strategic flexibility of network nodes. Basing on cross case study research design, seven enterprises were investigated deeply, using various techniques of data collection, and two of them were presented in the paper in a detailed way. The study presented shows instances of opposite changes directions in strategic flexibility under conditions of network cooperation. In the first case it was observed that, an increasing of the degree of intensification of network connections was accompanied by increasing in the flexibility of the strategy. However, in the second case this direction was quite opposite and increasing the degree of intensification of network cooperation resulted in stiffening of the business strategy.

    Metoda terapii skoncentrowanej na rozwiązaniach (TSR) powstała w wyniku krytyki podstawowych założeń terapii tradycyjnej, ogniskującej się głównie na problemie do rozwiązania. W TSR chodzi o pomoc terapeutyczną, której cel polega na budowaniu przez klienta, przy pomocy terapeuty, takiego fragmentu rzeczywistości, w którym będzie miał on możliwość zaspokojenia swoich potrzeb w sposób przydatny, pomocny i do zaakceptowania. Zakłada się, że tylko w procesie poszukiwania i aktywizowania dotychczas sprawdzonych rozwiązań można osiągnąć cel terapii. Wymaga to dokładnego przeanalizowania: – potrzeb klienta, a nie jego problemów, – jego zasobów i mocnych stron, a nie deficytów i zaburzeń, – jego dotychczasowych osiągnięć, a nie porażek i potknięć, – wyjątków od sytuacji problemowej, a nie częstości występowania i rozmiarów problemu, – wyraźnego nakreślenia i budowania pożądanej przyszłości, zamiast zajmowania się mroczną, trudną i odbierającej siły przeszłością. W rezultacie treścią pracy terapeutycznej w ramach TSR są mocne strony jednostki, jej potencjalne możliwości, nadzieja, wiara, sukces i doświadczone zadowolenie. Podstawą skuteczności TSR jest aktywność jednostki, która mając poczucie podmiotowości i kompetencji jest zazwyczaj gotowa do podjęcia próby zmian w swoim życiu.
    The method oft he Solution Focused Brief Therapy was the answer to the severe criticism the basic assumptions of traditional therapy met with, the latter one mainly focusing on the problem to be solved or eradicated.The SFBT constitutes a type of therapeutic assistance, where the client, supported by the therapist, will build up a fragment of their individually preferred future that will satisfy their demands in a supportive and acceptable way. It is to be supposed, that therapeutic success can only be achieved by taking into consideration and applying the solutions of tracing and mobilization that have proved their reliability heretofore. This implies a close pre-analysis of: •The clients‘ needs instead of their problems; •Their potential and strength instead of their deficiencies and disorders; •Their previous successes instead of their defeats and failures; •Exceptions from the problem instead of its frequency and intensity; A thorough description and developing of the desired future instead of constantly bothering them with a bleak, depressing and energy-sapping past. Eventually, the main part oft he therapist‘s work with SFBT consists in highlighting the strong points oft he individual, their potential, desires, faith, successes and experienced satisfaction. The basic concept of SFBT and its efficiency is the activation oft he individual, who, aware of their role as acting subject in their lives and disposing of valuable capacities, gladly will be eager to change their present lives.
