For an analytic functional $S$ on $ℂ^n$, we study the homogeneous convolution equation S * f = 0 with the holomorphic function f defined on an open set in $ℂ^n$. We determine the directions in which every solution can be continued analytically, by using the characteristic set.

Opis:
In this paper we study the dynamical behavior of linear discrete-time fractional systems. The first main result is that the norm of the difference of two different solutions of a time-varying discrete-time Caputo equation tends to zero not faster than polynomially. The second main result is a complete description of the decay to zero of the trajectories of one-dimensional time-invariant stable Caputo and Riemann-Liouville equations. Moreover, we present Volterra convolution equations, that are equivalent to Caputo and Riemann-Liouvile equations and we also show an explicit formula for the solution of systems of time-invariant Caputo equations.

Opis:
A method of optimal control problems investigation for linear partial integro-differential equations of convolution type is proposed, when control process is carried out by boundary functions and right hand side of equation. Using Fourier real generalized integral transform control problem solution is reduced to minimization procedure of chosen optimality criterion under constraints of equality type on desired control function. Optimality of control impacts is obtained for two criteria, evaluating their linear momentum and total energy. Necessary and sufficient conditions of control problem solvability are obtained for both criteria. Numerical calculations are done and control functions are plotted for both cases of control process realization.

The Choquet-Deny theorem and Deny's theorem are extended to the vector-valued case. They are applied to give a simple nonprobabilistic proof of the vector-valued renewal theorem, which is used to study the $L^p$-dimension, the $L^p$-density and the Fourier transformation of vector-valued self-similar measures. The results answer some questions raised by Strichartz.

Opis:
The paper is concerned with solving the transport pollutant problem for a steady, gradually varied flow in an open channel network. The 1D advective-diffusive transport equation is solved using the splitting technique. An analytical solution of the linear advective-diffusive equation in the form of an impulse response function is used to solve the advection-diffusion part of the governing equation. This approach, previously applied in solutions of the advection-diffusion equation for a single channel, is extended to a channel network. Numerical calculations are only required to compute the integral of convolution. The finite difference method is used to solve the second part of the governing equation, containing the source term. The applied approach has considerable advantages, especially appreciable in the case of advection-dominated transport with large gradients of concentration, since it generates no numerical dissipation or dispersion. The flow parameters are obtained via solution of the steady, gradually varied flow equation. In the final non-linear system of algebraic equations obtained through approximation of the ordinary differential equation, the depths at each cross-section of channels and the discharge at each branch of the network are considered as unknowns. The system is solved using the modified Picard iteration, which ensures convergence of the iterative process for a steady, gradually varied flow solved for both looped and tree-type open channel networks.

Opis:
We consider a boundary-transmission problem for the Helmholtz equation, in a Bessel potential space setting, which arises within the context of wave diffraction theory. The boundary under consideration consists of a strip, and certain reactance conditions are assumed on it. Operator theoretical methods are used to deal with the problem and, as a consequence, several convolution type operators are constructed and associated to the problem. At the end, the well-posedness of the problem is shown for a range of regularity orders of the Bessel potential spaces, and for a set of possible reactance numbers (dependent on the wave number).
