    Budget control is an important element of budgeting, which is an important management accounting tool. Hence, it is necessary to recognize the need for its development. The article presents the authors’ method of measuring the variation of budget deviations. A synthetic measure of budget differentiation can be used to assess deviation levels in the budgetary control process. The method described herein provides a deviation measure that is a weighted average of the relative and absolute deviations using a convex combination of Gini coefficients, which are used as a measure of variance. The research used data including monthly budgeted and actual costs from a thermal power plant in Poland for the years 2014 through 2016. The article is a methodological approach that fits into the current research on tools used in budgetary control. In addition, the described method is integrated into the development of work on control systems.

    In this paper, we consider the convex combination of polynomials. We provide a necessary and sufficient condition for Hurwitz stability of the convex combination of m real polynomials (m ≥ 3) whose degrees may be different and both necessary, and necessary and sufficient conditions for Hurwitz and Schur stability of the convex combination of two complex polynomials. We show also that the convex combination of two polynomials whose degrees are respectively odd and even, is never Schur stable. We give a few examples completing the results.

    The paper considers the problem of robust stability of convex combination of two fractional degree characteristic polynomials. This problem is equivalent to the problem of robust stability of linear continuous-time fractional systems with characteristic polynomial linearly dependent on one uncertain parameter. Frequency domain methods for robust stability analysis of such a combination are given. The methods proposed are based on the Zero Exclusion Condition known from the theory of robust stability of families of natural degree polynomials. The considerations are illustrated by numerical example.

    Given a graph G, its adjacency matrix A(G) and its diagonal matrix of vertex degrees D(G), consider the matrix Aα(G) = αD(G) + (1 − α)A(G), where α ∈ [0, 1). The Aα -spectrum of G is the multiset of eigenvalues of Aα(G) and these eigenvalues are the α-eigenvalues of G. A cluster in G is a pair of vertex subsets (C, S), where C is a set of cardinality |C| ≥ 2 of pairwise co-neighbor vertices sharing the same set S of |S| neighbors. Assuming that G is connected and it has a cluster (C, S), G(H) is obtained from G and an r-regular graph H of order |C| by identifying its vertices with the vertices in C, eigenvalues of Aα(G) and Aα(G(H)) are deduced and if Aα(H) is positive semidefinite, then the i-th eigenvalue of Aα(G(H)) is greater than or equal to i-th eigenvalue of Aα(G). These results are extended to graphs with several pairwise disjoint clusters (C1, S1), . . ., (Ck, Sk). As an application, the effect on the energy, α-Estrada index and α-index of a graph G with clusters when the edges of regular graphs are added to G are analyzed. Finally, the Aα-spectrum of the corona product G ◦ H of a connected graph G and a regular graph H is determined.

    In this paper the controllability properties of the convex linear combination of fractional, linear, discrete-time systems are characterized and investigated. The notions of linear convex combination and controllability in the context of fractional-order systems are recalled. Then, the controllability property of such a linear combination of discrete-time, linear fractional systems is proven. Further, the reduction of an infinite problem of transition matrix derivation is reduced to a finite one, which greatly simplifies the numerical burden of the controllability issue. Examples of controllable and uncontrollable, single-input, linear systems are presented. The possibility of extension of the considerations to multi-input systems is shown.

    The asymptotic stability of the convex linear combination of continuous-time and discretetime linear systems is considered. Using the Gershgorin theorem it is shown that the convex linear combination of the linear asymptotically stable continuous-time and discretetime linear systems is also asymptotically stable. It is shown that the above thesis is also valid (even simpler) for positive linear systems.

    The study provides presentation of selected statistical concepts based on data depth by Tukey.     In this paper we study some of the structural properties of the set of all minimal total dominating functions ($_T$) of cycles and paths and introduce the idea of function reducible graphs and function separable graphs. It is proved that a function reducible graph is a function separable graph. We shall also see how the idea of function reducibility is used to study the structure of $_T(G)$ for some classes of graphs.
