W pracy rozpatrzono problem sterowalności dodatnich liniowych dwuwymiarowych układów ciągło-dyskretnych. Sformułowano definicje oraz podano warunki konieczne i wystarczające sterowalności do zera oraz względnej sterowalności. Rozważania zilustrowano przykładem.
In the paper the controllability of the linear 2D positive continuous-discrete time systems are considered. The definitions of null controllability and relative controllability are introduced and necessary and sufficient conditions are given. The considerations are illustrated by numerical example.

Rozpatrzono problem badania odpornej stabilności liniowego układu hybrydowego ciągło-dyskretnego, którego wielomian charakterystyczny dwóch zmiennych zależy liniowo od niepewnych parametrów. Pokazano, że do badania odpornej stabilności takich układów można stosować twierdzenie krawędziowe, znane z teorii odpornej stabilności rodzin wielomianów charakterystycznych jednej zmiennej. Podano komputerową metodę służącą do sprawdzania warunków tego twierdzenia. Rozważania zilustrowano przykładem.
The problem of robust stability of linear continuous-discrete systems with characteristic polynomial (in two independent variables) linearly dependent on uncertain parameters is considered. It is show that the Edge Theorem known from the theory of robust stability of families of polynomials in one variable can applied to robust stability checking of the systems. Computer methods for checking of the conditions of this theorem are given. The considerations are illustrated by numerical example.

Opis:
A new class of positive continuous-discrete time linear systems with delays in state vector is addressed. Three state space model of this class of linear systems are considered. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the positivity of continuous-discrete time systems with delays in state vector are established. The proper transfer matrix of this class of linear systems is given.
Zaprezentowana zostanie nowa klasa dodatnich układów ciągło-dyskretnych z opóźnieniem w wektorze stanu. Rozpatrzone zostaną trzy modele opisujące tę klasę układów w przestrzeni stanu. Podane zostaną warunki konieczne i wystarczające dodatniości liniowych układów ciągło-dyskretnych z opóźnieniem w wektorze stanu. Podana zostanie postać operatorowej macierzy transmitancji właściwych rozpatrywanej klasy układów.

Opis:
The problem of asymptotic stability of models of 2D continuous-discrete linear systems is considered. Computer methods for investigation of asymptotic stability of the Fornasini-Marchesini type and the Roesser type models, are given. The methods proposed require computation of the eigenvalue-loci of complex matrices. Effectiveness of the stability tests are demonstrated on numerical examples.

A new formulation of the minimum energy control problem for the positive 2D continuousdiscrete linear systems with bounded inputs is proposed. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the reachability of the systems are established. Conditions for the existence of the solution to the minimum energy control problem and a procedure for computation of an input minimizing the given performance index are given. Effectiveness of the procedure is demonstrated on numerical example.

A new method is proposed for determination of positive realizations with reduced numbers of delays of linear 2D continuousdiscrete systems. Sufficient conditions for the existence of the positive realizations of a given proper transfer function are established. It is shown that there exists a positive realization with reduced numbers of delays if there exists a positive realization without delays but with a greater dimension. The proposed method is demonstrated on a numerical example.

This contribution revolves around the concept of musical sense-making. Starting from the seminal works of Peirce, Dewey and James, it focusses on the musical experience, which can be defined from an empiricist position as a process that calls forth epistemic interactions with the sounds. Central in this approach is the tension between the richness and fullness of the musical experience and the cognitive economy of symbolic abstraction. Dewey, in particular, has stressed the role of having an experience proper as a kind of heightened vitality. James, on the contrary, has dealt with the distinction between percept and concept, stressing the role of knowledge-by-acquaintance as the kind of knowledge we have of something by its presentation to the senses. In what he coined as radical empiricism he states that the significance of concepts always consists in their relation to perceptual particulars, which, in turn, are embedded in a conceptual map. This map can be described in semiotic terms, which holds a symbolic approach to cognition to the extent that it is concerned with signs rather than with sensory realia. The question should be raised, however, as to the nature of these signs. There is, in fact, a critical distinction between internal and external semantics with signs referring primarily to themselves or to something external to the music. In an attempt to bring these claims together, it is argued that musical signs should provide a self-referential semantics for which the abstract is really material, a real semiotics of singular potential wich is grounded in the real and natural experience. Reying on some grounding work of Peirce and Morris and the relation between signs and tool using, a theoretical framework is introduced that has at least some operational power in going beyond a merely acoustic description of the music as it sounds.

The paper deals with dynamic analysis of low structures subject to kinematic excitations caused by transversal waves when using nonlinear discrete-continuous models. The models consist of rigid bodies and elastic elements which undergo only shear deformations. In these models discrete elements with a damper and a spring of a nonlinear characteristic representing local nonlinearities can be included. In the study a wave approach is used, in terms of the wave solution of the equations of motion. Numerical calculations are performed for model with single, two, three or four rigid bodies. They focus on the determination of amplitudefrequency curves and investigation into the effect of local nonlinearities on displacements of selected cross-sections of elastic elements in the considered models.
Praca dotyczy analizy dynamicznej niskich obiektów poddanych poprzecznym wymuszeniom kinematycznym wykorzystując nieliniowe modele dyskretno-ciągłe. Modele te składają się z brył sztywnych i elementów sprężystych poddanych tylko odkształceniom ścinającym. W modelach tych można uwzględnić dyskretne elementy ze sprężyną o nieliniowej charakterystyce reprezentujące lokalne nieliniowości. W rozważaniach zastosowano metodę falową, w której wykorzystuje się rozwiązanie falowe równań ruchu. Obliczenia numeryczne wykonano dla modeli z jedną, dwiema, trzema i czterema bryłami sztywnymi. Koncentrują się one na wyznaczaniu krzywych amplitudowo-częstotliwościowych i badaniu wpływu parametrów reprezentujących lokalną nieliniowość na przemieszczenia w wybranych przekrojach poprzecznych elementów sprężystych rozważanych układów dyskretno-ciągłych.

In the paper discrete-continuous models with a local nonlinearity are proposed for the dynamic investigations of low structures subject to kinematic excitations caused by transverse waves. The models consist of rigid bodies and of elastic elements which only undergo shear deformations, while the local nonlinearity is represented by a damper and a nonlinear spring. It is assumed that the nonlinear characteristic of the spring is of a soft type. In the paper this characteristic is described by four nonlinear functions. In the discussion a wave approach is used. Numerical calculations are performed for the models with two, three and four rigid bodies for a harmonic kinematic excitation. They focus on the investigation of the effect of the local nonlinearity expressed by various functions on displacements of selected cross-sections of the elastic elements in the considered models, and on the determination of the application ranges of these functions.
Drgania dyskretno-ciągłych modeli niskich konstrukcji ze sprężyną o nieliniowej charakterystyce typu miękiego. W pracy przeprowadzono badania dynamiczne niskich obiektów poddanych wymuszeniom kinematycznym wywołanych falami poprzecznymi przy wykorzystaniu dyskretno-ciągłych modeli z lokalną nieliniowością. Modele złożone są z brył sztywnych i elementów sprężystych poddanych tylko odkształceniom ścinającym, natomiast lokalna nieliniowość reprezentowana jest przez dyskretne elementy z nieliniową sprężyną. Założono, że nieliniowa charakterystyka sprężyny jest typu miękkiego. W pracy charakterystykę tę opisano za pomocą czterech funkcji nieliniowych. W dyskusji wykorzystano podejście falowe. Obliczena numeryczne wykonano dla modeli z dwiema, trzema i czterema bryłami sztywnymi przy wymuszeniu kinematycznym opisanym funkcją harmoniczną. Koncentrują się one na zbadaniu wpływu lokalnej nieliniowości, wyrażonej przez cztery różne funkcje, na przemieszczenia wybranych przekrojów poprzecznych elementów sprężystych w rozpatrywanych modelach, oraz na wyznaczeniu obszarów stosowalności przyjętych funkcji nieliniowych.

The positive minimal realization problem for continuous-discrete linear single-input, single-output (SISO) systems is formulated. Two special case of the continuous-discrete systems are analyzed. Method based on the state variable diagram for nnding positive minimal realizations of given proper transfer functions is proposed. Sufficient conditions for the existence of positive minimal realizations of given proper transfer functions with separable numerator or transfer functions with separable denominator are established. Two procedures for computation of positive minimal realizations are proposed and illustrated by numerical examples.
Sformułowany został problem wyznaczania dodatniej realizacji minimalnej dla klasy liniowych układów ciągło-dyskretnych. Przeanalizowane zostały dwa przypadki szczególne układów ciągłodyskretnych. Zaproponowana została metoda, bazująca na schemacie zmiennych stanu, wyznaczania dodatniej realizacji minimalnej na podstawie znanej transmitancji operatorowej układu. Określono warunki wystarczające istnienia dodatniej realizacji minimalnej dla transmitancji operatorowej z separowanym licznikiem lub mianownikiem. Podano dwie procedury wyznaczania dodatniej realizacji minimalnej, których efektywność zobrazowano przykładami numerycznymi.

In the paper, dynamic investigations of multi-mass discrete-continuous systems torsionally deformed are performed taking into account the position-dependent mass moment of inertia of one of rigid bodies. It is assumed that the rigid body representing a motor moves with a variable velocity. An originally nonlinear problem is linearized, and the wave approach leading to solving equations with a retarded argument having variable coefficients is used for the solution. Exemplary numerical calculations are done for a three-mass system.
