For several years, the idea of sustainable development has become fashionable and is being implemented. The term "sustainable development" is inflected at all possible ways. One creates the necessary conditions for the implementation of such a development, which is believed to be a panacea for economic crises, environmental degradation and premature full exploitation of material resources of our planet. First of all, attention is drawn to the external conditions – social and cultural ones. However, internal conditioning – the role of individuals – their mental and spiritual states, value system and environmental awareness – are ignored. The objective of this article is to draw attention to the fact that the success of sustainable development depends mainly on the internal and subjective conditions, especially from the people who implement it. The author claims that the idea of sustainable development can be fully realized only with the help of sustainable people.

This paper considers the ways in which contemporary painting of still life accepts the address of its tradition. Tradition is considered here as cultural memory reiterated and transformed over time. The means by which contemporary artists work with, and against, tradition are explored through ideas of reverie, play and material process. Melancholy is a characteristic of the genre of still life, one that crosses time, and is thus given particular attention in relation to traditional and contemporary still life. Whilst Part I is an exploration of the themes and issues described above, Part II (case studies) is an attempt to exemplify them through the work of three contemporary British painters: Alan Salisbury, Emma Bennett and G.L. Brierley of whom it can be said that they paint playfully melancholic paintings of still life.

At the beginning of the XXI century Ukrainian art observed activization of the artist’s interest for the political life of the country. The starting point was 2004, marked by protests against unfair elections in the country, the birth of the first “Maidan” and “Orange revolution”. In a number of artistic actions organized by art groups we can see the reflection of the revolution events and, later, the frustrations of its ideals. The most striking manifestation of political issues in contemporary art in Ukraine was the great creativity following the second “Maidan” (2013). In this spontaneous Performance everyone plays a role: the participants are the protesters, official persons, fighters of “Berkut” and interior force troops, journalists and others. Protesters’ tents, barricades, a statue of Lenin and “Maidan” itself (or Independence Square) as a place of free will and creativity became the Symbols of the “Maidan” and its own art objects.

Artykuł przedstawia zagadnienie misji osób konsekrowanych we współczesnym świecie na podstawie nauczania Franciszka. Według papieża apostolstwo osób poświęconych Bogu na własność nie jest pozbawione niepewności i trudności, wynikających przede wszystkim z obecnej kondycji życia konsekrowanego. Franciszek powierza osobom konsekrowanym misję przebudzenia świata. Jego zdaniem cechą charakteryzującą życie konsekrowane jest proroctwo. Istota misji osób konsekrowanych jest wyznaczona przez Ewangelię. Są one wezwane, by nieść i przekazywać wszystkim pocieszenie samego Boga oraz nadzieję. Mają być prawdziwymi matkami i ojcami duchowymi oraz budować kulturę spotkania.
This article presents the issue of the mission of consecrated persons in the contemporary world according to the teaching of Francis. According to the Pope, the apostolate of those consecrated to God is not without its uncertainties and difficulties, which arise, above all, from the current condition of consecrated life. Francis has entrusted consecrated persons with the mission of awakening the world. In his view, the defining characteristic of the consecrated life is prophecy. The essence of the mission of consecrated persons is determined by the Gospel. They are called to bring and communicate to all the consolation of God Himself as well as hope. They are to be true spiritual mothers and fathers and to build a culture of encounter.

Autor w swoim opracowaniu, biorąc pod uwagę problemy, jakich doświadcza obecnie człowiek, poszukuje odpowiedzi na pytanie: jak ma wyglądać współczesne życie konsekrowane, jakim wyzwaniom musi ono dzisiaj sprostać? Czego oczekuje się dzisiaj od osób konsekrowanych, jakiego świadectwa? W związku z tym, najpierw wskazuje podstawy teologiczne wspólnoty zakonnej, podkreślając, że jest ona darem Bożym, a zarazem tajemnicą zakorzenioną w sercu Trójcy Świętej, następnie omawia jej wymiar charyzmatyczny. Zdaniem autora zasadniczym elementem życia konsekrowanego jest wierność wobec własnej konsekracji według charyzmatu. Wśród współczesnych wyzwań na pierwszym miejscu podkreśla on wyzwania wynikające z rad ewangelicznych, a następnie poddaje analizie inne znaki czasu, które są wyzwaniem dla osób konsekrowanych. Po przeprowadzonych analizach autor podkreśla, że najistotniejszym elementem odpowiedzi na postawione pytanie badawcze pozostaje osobiste i wspólnotowe świadectwo życia osób konsekrowanych. Ich życie objawia światu prawdziwe oblicze miłości Boga i Kościoła, ale nigdy go nie wyczerpuje. Dokumenty Stolicy Apostolskiej umieszczają życie konsekrowane w centrum działalności Kościoła, tym samym wyznaczają mu doniosłe zadanie, by było widocznym znakiem obecności Boga w świecie. Ci, którzy żyją życiem konsekrowanym, stają się promotorami prawdziwego rozwoju osoby ludzkiej. W tym znaczeniu osoby konsekrowane mają szczególny udział i zadanie w uświęcaniu świata. Stanowią one zatem radykalną odpowiedź na pojawiające się w każdej epoce znaki czasu.
In his paper, examining the problems experienced by man today, the author seeks answers to the question: what is contemporary consecrated life to look like? What challenges does it face today? What is expected from consecrated persons today, which testimony? In this regard, first, he points to the theological foundations of the religious community, emphasizing that it is a gift from God and at the same time a mystery rooted in the heart of the Holy Trinity, and then he discusses its charismatic dimension. The author thinks that fidelity to one’s consecration according to the charism is an essential element of consecrated life. Among today’s challenges, he first highlights the challenges of the evangelical counsels, and then analyses other contemporary signs of the time, which are a challenge for consecrated persons. Following these analyses, the author emphasizes that personal and community testimony of the life of consecrated persons remains the most important element of the answer to the posed question. Their lives reveal the true face of the love of God and the Church to the world, but never exhaust it. The documents of the Apostolic See place consecrated life in the center of the Church’s activity, thereby assigning it the momentous task of being a visible sign of God’s presence in the world. Those who live a consecrated life become promoters of the true development of the human person. In this sense, consecrated persons have a special share and task in sanctifying the world. They are, therefore, a radical response to the emerging signs of time in each epoch.

The article tackles the issue of the contemporary childhood. The author notes that in search of a happy childhood, the essence of childhood is often lost. Instead of a genuinely careless and happy childhood, the reality created for today’s children is full of appearances. In her discussion of the subject, the author refers to a selected approach to happiness. She also identifies, based on Janusz Czapiński’s proposal, the difference between happiness and feeling happy. She points to the fact that 21st-century life is an endless chase after the future, lacking the opportunity to focus on here and now. Childhood too is treated as a race towards adulthood. In the course of her argument, the author identifies and describes selected styles of creating a happy childhood: an abundant childhood, an active childhood, a childhood in the limelight, a boundless childhood, a childhood among people. Concluding her argument, the author proposes that instead of chasing happiness and creating the appearances of a happy childhood for children, it might be better to simply slow down the pace of life when possible and value the present. After all, “sharing the joy of life is the essence of a satisfying child-parent relationship”. The author also discusses the role of the teacher as a person supporting the parents in their parenting roles.

This article presents Pope Benedict XVI’s juxtaposition of consecrated life and relativism in the contemporary world. The Pope believes that relativism is today one of the most dangerous threats to the Christian faith. Benedict XVI counters this contemporary phenomenon with the answer given by Christianity. The life of the people who are totally devoted to God stays in visible opposition to the contemporary relativistic mentality. Consecrated life translates into the exclusive love for Jesus Christ and the devotion to Him within the Church. Consecrated persons recognise the absolute primacy of God. Through the practice of evangelical counsels, they closely accompany and follow Jesus. Consecrated life, due to its nature, is atestimony of finding and recognizing Jesus Christ as the Truth that one can entrust oneself to.
Niniejszy artykuł przedstawia zagadnienie życia konsekrowanego wobec relatywizmu we współczesnym świecie na podstawie nauczania papieża Benedykta XVI. Według papieża relatywizm jest dzisiaj jednym z największych zagrożeń dla wiary chrześcijańskiej – Benedykt XVI przeciwstawia mu odpowiedź, jaką daje chrześcijaństwo. W widocznej opozycji do współczesnej mentalności relatywistycznej znajduje się życie osób poświęconych na własność Bogu. Życie konsekrowane realizuje wezwanie do wyłącznej miłości Chrystusa i służby Jemu w Kościele. Osoby zakonne żyją absolutnym prymatem Boga, a przez ślubowanie rad ewangelicznych idą drogą naśladowania Jezusa bardziej z bliska. Natura życia konsekrowanego sprawia, że jest ono świadectwem odnalezienia Jezusa Chrystusa jako Prawdy, której można całkowicie powierzyć siebie

В данной статье рассматриваются особенности изображения повседневности в первом реалистичсеском романе Дмитрмя Глуховского Текст. На примере судьбы главного героя произведения, Ильи Горюнова анализируется модель русской действительности и обыденности, а также их характерные черты и атрибуты. В данном контексте особое значение приобретают категории контраста, отчуждения, фатализма и пессимистического детерминима. Обыденность в своем романе Глуховский представляет, ссылаясь на русский литературный дискурс. В произведении ощущаются инспрации идеями Льва Толстого, Федора Достоевского, Антна Чехова и других классиков, а также современных писателей.  
The aricle The Picture of Russian Everyday Life i The Novel Text Of Dmitry Glukhovsky  describes different attribute of a everyday life and reality in contemporary Russia. The author uses  the category of strangeness, contrast, fatalism and pessimistic determinism to characterize one of the most important motifs in his novel based on the life of the main character in the story. Glukhovsky shows the everyday life in Russian capital city and Moscow’s area referred to works of the biggest writers of XIX century (Lev Tolstoy, Fiodor Dostoevsky, Anton Chekhov) and to contemporary Russian authors.
Artykuł Obraz rosyjskiej codzienności w powieści Tekst Dmitrija Głuchowskiego poświęcony jest omówieniu zjawiska rosyjskiej codzienności i jej charakterystyce. Na podstawie sytuacji egzystencjalnej głównego bohatera utworu, Ilji Goriunowa, autor przedstawia konstytuujące rosyjską codzienność kategorie obcości, kontrastu, fatalizmu i pesymistycznego determinizmu. Głuchowski nawiązuje w swojej analizie do szerokiego kontekstu kulturowo-literackiego. W powieści widoczne są czytelne aluzje i cytaty z rosyjskich klasyków: Lwa Tołstoja, Fiodora Dostojewskiego, Iwana Turgieniewa, a także dialog z przedstawicielami współczesnej literatury rosyjskiej.

An important, though underestimated theme in Polish poetry written by women is the thread of poetry engaged in social and political matters, thematizing the connection between literature and civic life. Poetesses are often accused of not rooting their works in history and of unwillingness to bring up current topics. Yet the problem is not the lack of interest in history and its political and social dimension, but the distinct way of its conceptualization, the relationship between the individual – though not always revealing its sex – subjective “I” in relation to history and challenges of its times. That is manifested, among others, in poems by Wisława Szymborska, Krystyna Miłobędzka, Bogusława Latawiec and Urszula Kozioł, which, to a different degree, exhibit the strategies of personalization, autobiographication, somatization and trivialization, characteristic of women’s poetry regarding the martial law period in Poland.

Artykuł jest próbą podjęcia fenomenologicznej refleksji nad nadzieją. Na drodze tego badania z jednej strony przeciwstawiam się popularnej praktyce „teologizowania” nadziei, tj. traktowania jej jako cnoty teologalnej, z drugiej – naukowym usiłowaniom jej naturalizowania. W rezultacie odkrywam nadzieję jako „nadzieję egzystencjalną”, która przedstawia się jako fundamentalny sposób bycia egzystencji.
The article is an attempt at phenomenological reflection on hope. On the way of this study, on the one hand, I oppose the popular practice of "theologizing" of hope, i.e. treating it as a theological virtue, on the other - the scientific attempts to naturalize it. As a result, I discover hope as "existential hope" which presents itself as a fundamental „way of being” of existence.

Opis:
W artykule przedstawione zostały wątki podlaskie i białostockie obecne we wczesnych zbiorach reportaży Joanny Siedleckiej, które pojawiły się w jej debiutanckiej, wydanej w 1981 Stypie, ale także w Poprawinach i Parszywej sytuacji z 1984 roku. W konkluzji pokazane zostało, iż Siedlecka nie stosuje powtarzających się w opowieściach o Podlasiu wariantów fabularnych, unika zideologizowanej retoryki i wypunktowuje absurdy komunistycznej codzienności, a także opisuje przedstawione sprawy wykorzystując ironię.
The article presents motifs of Podlasie and Białystok in the early collections of writings by Joanna Siedlecka, which had been published first in her debut Stypa (1981) and later also in Poprawiny and Parszywa sytuacja (both 1984). The article concludes that Siedlecka does not rely on clichéd storylines in her writings about Podlasie. She also avoids ideological rhetoric and with irony punctuates the absurdity of everyday life in Communism.

Opis:
Starting from the statement that self-reflection is necessary for the development of any scientific discipline, the author of this article – a historian and sociologist – considers the characteristics of research on everyday life. What is the subject of this subdiscipline and when did such research start? What methods does it use? The author reflects on these issues, while referring to his own experience as a historian and to the book by Bogumiła Mateja-Jaworska and Marta Zawodna-Stephan, Badania życia codziennego. Rozmowy (nie)codzienne w Polsce (2019) [Studies of Everyday Life: (Not) Everyday Conversations in Poland], in which the statements of contemporary everyday researchers are quoted. The author concludes that the beginnings of such research should be sought in the very distant past and that its material might be provided by all the creations of human culture. He also wonders if and how evidence of the modern digital age will survive.
