    Opis:
    Leonard Cohen is mostly known as a singer-songwriter. Although his poems and novels are not as widely recognized as his music, it has been frequently argued that The Favourite Game (1963) and Beautiful Losers (1966) can be viewed as the most innovative and experimental novels to be published in Canada. They are also among the first representatives of Canadian postmodernism in literature. The main purpose of this article was to explore echoes of the Holocaust in Cohen’s novels, as well as in his book of poetry Flowers for Hitler (1964). Despite the fact that the links and allusions to Judaism made by him have been often stressed by the critics, what is demonstrated here is the fact that for Cohen, his Jewish heritage was not only a source of inspiration but also doubt and anger. This paper, apart from presenting the artist’s cultural and spiritual background, aims at demonstrating ethical ambivalences in Leonard Cohen’s art and examining the reasons behind the ambivalence, as well as discussing his works in the context of postmodern ethical theory.

    The moral reinterpretation of Jesus conducted by Kant, Lessing and Feuerbach, is an interesting matter when it comes to the philosophy of religion. The abovementioned German philosophers claimed that Jesus ought to be understood only as a moral archetype and a revolutionist in morality. This concept arose on the grounds of moral religion which was one of the most interesting ideas of the Enlightenment. Thus, exploring this moral reinterpretation of Jesus is just an excuse to study the concept of moral religion. Despite the fact that this idea is no longer current, it has immense influence on the contemporary philosophy of religion. Therefore, understanding the concept of moral religion can broaden the context of the contemporary discussion.

    Article concerns problems of „new character” which appears in literature of the end of XX and the beginning of XXI centuries and is rooted in the phenomenon of young „generation of nobody” and show rich psychological portraits of protagonists. Contemporary Polish prose, which is not optimistic anymore, show anthropological sensitivity, is called a literature of initiation, present a young protagonists in a labyrinth of values, whose life seems to be suffering, they are lost in reality, lonely, looking for answers of difficult existential questions, looking for the true, friendship and love. Most significant literary examples which present problems mentioned above and which are rooted in the wide context of ethics – are works of Ewa Przybylska: Dzień kolibra (1997) i Dotyk motyla (2016) and Most na Missisipi (2012) and Barbara Kosmowska: Pozłacana rybka (2007),Sezon na zielone kasztany (2013) and Samotni.pl(2012). Most of these texts could be discussed also in educational perspective.

    In the paper, we emphasize the idea of radical changes in contemporary medicine that have occurred as a result of the unprecedented development of scientific and technological progress. There is a growing need to analyse the current state and problems in the field of medicine, to consider its new goals and perspectives with an emphasis on the ethical dimension. From a wide range of questions and problems of contemporary medicine, we examine the ethical aspects of the patient's autonomy, commercialization of medicine and personalized medicine. We point out that applied occupational ethics in this field also provides a strategy for cultivating professional responsibility for doctors (healthcare professionals).

    This article discusses Marcel Łoziński’s The Visit (1974), confronting it with the reality of the Gierek decade and the situation of Polish rural women in the 1970s. The film depicts an ideological conflict between a female farmer interested in literature and theatre, and a journalist as the embodiment of what is modern and urban. The women’s clash is an interesting starting point for a broader discussion on the subject matter, message, and visual aspects of the documentary, particularly in the context of staging and provocation. The paper addresses a very significant issue of media invasiveness and journalism ethics associated with the responsibility of journalists and filmmakers. Using the example of The Visit, the author describes the behaviour and statements of the film characters, and their determination in the presence of the camera. She discusses the cinematography, which plays an essential role in conveying the theses made in the film, the trap of adopting a stereotypical approach to rural populations, the mixed reception of the film, and its links to one of Łoziński’s later productions, So It Doesn’t Hurt (1998).

    Artykuł omawia znaczenie warstwy etycznej oraz granic we współczesnej sztuce. W tekście przy¬wołane zostają dzieła, które powstały w wyniku torturowania bądź zabicia zwierząt. Prace te zostały uznane za przekraczające etyczne granice, wywołały oburzenie i liczne protesty publicz¬ności. Omówione zostają konsekwencje tych reakcji oraz skandalu, jaki powstał wokół przywoła¬nych prac, co zmusza do zadania pytania nie tylko o granice dzieła sztuki, znaczenie estetyki, ale również o definicję pojęcia „sztuka”, które poddawane wielu redefinicjom utrudnia, lub nawet uniemożliwia, ustanowienie czytelnych zasad. Analiza jest nie tylko próbą odpowiedzi na pytania o granice sztuki współczesnej, ale również o zasadność samego pojęcia „sztuka” wobec współcze¬snych działań artystycznych.
    The article discusses the significance of the ethical aspects and limits in contemporary art. The text refers to the collection of works that were created based on torturing or killing ani¬mals. Those particular works have been considered as breaking ethical limits, evoked indignation and numerous protests of the public. The paper touches the issue of consequences resulting from such reactions, and the scandal that was born around the referred works. This forces me to pose a question not only on the reasonable limits of works of art and the importance of aesthetics, but also on the definition of the term ‘art’. The word ‘art’, having been applied to a number of redefinitions, makes it difficult or even impossible to set up clear rules. My analysis is not only attempted at answering questions on the limits of the contemporary art, but also on the justifica¬tion of the term ‘art’ itself in relation to today’s artistic creations.

     Artykuł podejmuje temat wzrastającej obojętności i bezradności społeczeństwa w obecnej rzeczywistości w stosunku do refleksji etycznej, a także „duchowej sfery egzystencji”. Autor przeprowadza próbę analizy współczesnego niezadowolenia z dotychczasowych rozstrzygnięć etycznych oraz konsekwencji, które za sobą niosą, jak również problemów wynikających z dominacji nauk przyrodniczych nad humanistycznymi oraz trudności z pogodzeniem podmiotowości człowieka z obrazem świata formułowanym przez nauki pozytywne. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie koncepcji filozoficznej czeskiego fenomenologa Jana Patočki, aby unaocznić przesłanie płynące z jego filozofii, które posłużyć ma jako apel i wezwanie do podjęcia próby przezwyciężenia sytuacji zaniku refleksji etycznej i powszechnej wobec niej obojętności.
    Der Artikel befasst sich mit dem Phänomen der wachsenden Gleichgültigkeit und Hilflosigkeit der Gesellschaft in der gegenwärtigen Wirklichkeit in Bezug auf ethische Reflexion sowie auf die "spirituelle Sphäre der Existenz". Der Autor versucht die gegenwärtige Unzufriedenheit mit den ethischen Entscheidungen und den Konsequenzen, die sie mit sich bringen, zu analysieren. Es werden auch die Probleme erörtert, die sich aus der Dominanz der Naturwissenschaften über die Geisteswissenschaften ergeben sowie die Schwierigkeiten bei der Vereinbarkeit der menschlichen Subjektivität mit dem von positiven Wissenschaften formulierten Weltbild. Ziel des Artikels ist es, das philosophische Konzept des tschechischen Phänomenologen Jan Patočka darzustellen, um die Botschaft seiner Philosophie zu veranschaulichen, die als Appell und Aufruf dienen soll, die Situation des Verschwindens der ethischen Reflexion und der weit verbreiteten Gleichgültigkeit ihr gegenüber zu überwinden.
     The article deals with the phenomenon of the increasing indifference and helplessness of society in the current reality in relation to ethical reflection as well as the "spiritual sphere of existence". The author attempts to analyze the contemporary dissatisfaction with the existing ethical adjudications and the consequences that they bring, as well as problems resulting from the domination of natural sciences over humanities and the difficulties in reconciling human subjectivity with the image of the world formulated by positive sciences. The aim of the article is to present the philosophical views of the Czech phenomenologist Jan Patočka in order to make evident the message flowing from his philosophy, which is intended to function as an appeal and a call for an attempt to overcome the situation of lapse of ethical reflection and universal indifference to it.
