Opis:
The Internet of Things gets bigger and bigger audiences. This topic is really popular in science and also in industry. There are many fields for research. One of them is efficient deployment against resource utilization. Another one is containerization within IoT platforms. One of the commonalities of these two topics is different CPU affinity against containerized platforms to get the best performance. There were plenty of papers dedicated to containerization even in IoT but none of these focused on core affinity. As this survey analyzes the scalability and stability of the platform in different core-container configurations based on the IoT platform - DeviceHive, it brings a novelty to this area. Most interesting observations were made in the field of the same configurations in terms of the number of nodes but varying with core affinity. Analyzed observations may be useful during the architecture planning phase for containerized IoT platforms.

Opis:
The presented paper comes as a summary of a theoretical work presenting an original algorithm describing International Multimodal Transport (IMT) mechanisms and processes. Since containers appeared in early 1960s on the regional, and later on, on global scale in logistic operations, the IMT has become the fastest growing combination of an international through-transport. With use of various modes of transport IMT has significant influence on global trade development. Due to its characteristic the IMT process is exposed on the global unitization, standardization, safety, security and economization (optimization) challenges. Thus, there is a need for scientific approach in building a standardized conceptual model of IMT referred in this paper to CAIMT. CAIMT is an original, deterministic algorithm, presented in the block notation, identifying typical procedures as a logical continuation of the programmed sequence of the basic IMT operations. The suggested CAIMT has a potential in further standardization of IMT procedures and can be scientifically developed through the modeling of the IMT processes and safety/security procedures. In addition, in terms of empirical aspects, algorithmization of the main IMT processes can lead to their application in the various expert systems. Summing up, this method (CAIMT) comes as an optimal instrument that can be utilized in order to build further pillars for IMT development, standardization and optimization.

Opis:
Current situation stipulates growing requirements to the efficiency of economic subjects' performance. Big potential in this direction lies in the rationalization of logistical functions of organization, like: transportation, warehousing, interfunctional and interorganizational coordination, etc. One of the possible ways to rationalize firms' performance, without any doubt, is industry leaders' best practices application. However, to switch from the role of the follower to the leader it is essential for the organization to foresee future trends, including the field of effective flow management (logistics). Logistical technologies development was considered as an object of current paper: its main trends analysis and description of technological innovations that have resulted in decreasing of logistical costs in the goods shop cost in the last few decades were investigated. Also author has made a try to perform qualimetric analysis of the logistics technologies under consideration, i.e. to investigate dynamics of characterizing features of the analyzed object with the potential possibility to use these parameters for forecasting of future development trends. Problems of effective operation of two transport types (air and marine) and of several variants of transport-logistical delivery schemes (combined, container, tanker) were covered in the paper, inter alia following technological innovations were analyzed: jet engine invention, containerization and tanker shipments.

Opis:
Businesses are increasingly confronted with server-related problems. More and more, businesses are enabling remote working and need to rely on network services. The provision of network services requires rebuilding the network infrastructure and the way employees are provided with data. Web applications and server services use common dependencies and require a specific network configuration. This often involves collisions between network ports and common dependencies’ configuration. This problem can be solved by separating the conflicting applications into different servers, but this involves the cost of maintaining several servers. Another solution may be to isolate applications with virtual machines, but this involves a significant overhead on server resources, as each virtual machine must be equipped with an operating system. An alternative to virtual machines can be application containerization, which is growing in popularity. Containerization also allows to isolate applications, but operates on the server’s native operating system. This means eliminating the overhead on server resources present in virtual machines. This article presents an example of web application containerization.

Opis:
The article presents a selection of topics concerning inland freight transport. It is part of the European transport system that holds different places in the transport system of every country. At the same time it is an element of their water management system. Therefore, the development of inland shipping is influenced by two key factors. The first one is the adjusted natural water system, which as a linear system, enables freight transport. The second factor is water management policy, which takes into account inland shipping in the water resources management. In many European countries, especially in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Rumania, barge freight transport is a part of these two systems. Inland shipping in the European overland transport engages in approximately 6.5% of the transport activity by carrying dry, liquid, general and containerized bulk cargo. It is of significant importance to the international cargo transport in many European countries – adjusting techniques and organization of transport to constantly changing requirements of the shippers, which results from the shift in the industry structure in Europe. It is no longer associated with transport of coal and iron are only, although they still make the primary freight in inland shipping. The ro-ro barges carry containerized and palletized cargo and are components of the multimodal transport chains.

Opis:
A major share of all empty container positioning (deadheading) is resulting from imbalances with regard to container sizes (20ft/40ft). In order to reduce the shipments of 'containerised air' a new type of container has been developed by the author: The Tworty Boxes can either be used as a standard 20ft or in coupled condition as a 40ft container. The outside appearance resembles any standard 20ft container. However the Tworty Box is unique in that it has an additional door at the front side that opens to the inside. This door can be fixed to the ceiling and by using of bonding elements another Tworty Box can be joined up, thereby creating the full 40ft inside space. Operated as a single 20ft box the additional door remains locked, access is only through the existing standard door. Tworty Boxes do not require any additional components and fulfil all ISO and CSC requirements.

The subject of this study refers to the analysis of business activity of shipping operators on the global market of maritime container transport constituting a link in the logistics supply chains and networks. The author attempts to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of their operations in the global supply networks indicating their functions and role in the integration process of those chains. The analysis also covered widely perceived economic results arising from their activity, as links connecting global logistics network relations. Moreover, the said results were also analyzed by evaluating them in the view of the impact of the activity of maritime container operators on global commodity markets.

In this article the attempt has been made to construct hierarchical model of container ports throughput development. The presented hierarchical approach uses the relationships of development of global economy and container flows at different geographical levels: global (container throughput in all seaport on the world), regional (container throughput in the Baltic seaports) and national (container throughput in Polish seaports). Model have been evaluated for their fit and usefulness for predictive purposes.
