    Opis:
    Packing constellations points in higher dimensions, the concept of multidimensional modulation exploits the idea drawn from geometry for searching dense sphere packings in a given dimension, utilising it to minimise the average energy of the underlying constellations. The following work analyses the impact of spherical shaping of the constellations bound instead of the traditional, hyper-cubical bound. Balanced constellation schemes are obtained with the N-dimensional simplex merging algorithm. The performance of constellations of dimensions 2, 4 and 6 is compared to the performance of QAM modulations of equivalent throughputs in the sense of bits transmitted per complex (twodimensional) symbols. The considered constellations give an approximately 0.7 dB to 1 dB gain in terms of BER over a standard QAM modulation.

    Opis:
    This paper firstly analyzes the concept of availability of satellite constellation. Then the method of constellation availability analysis is proposed based on Markov chain model, outage analysis, as well as MTBF and MTTR of satellite constellations. Finally, an illustrative example is presented to demonstrate the method.
    Artykuł w pierwszej kolejności analizuje pojęcie dostępności konstelacji satelitów. Następnie proponuje metodę analizy dostępności konstelacji opartą na modelu łańcuchów Markowa, analizie przestojów, oraz MTBF i MTTR konstelacji satelitów. Metodę zilustrowano przykładem.

    Opis:
    The ivory wands of the Middle Kingdom display various creatures to be annihilated by protective deities, especially snakes and human foes. It seems that the snakes pictured on the ivory wands represent chaotic numina of primeval times which endanger the uncreated and the animate world. The human foes on the other side are foreigners like Libyans, Asians, Nubians and rebels. It is interesting to note that the figures of the human foes are modelled after an archetype which is taken from the royal monuments showing the king smiting his enemies. While the foes represented on the royal monuments are put down by the king in the shape of a divine bull, lion, sphinx or griffin, the enemies of the ivory wands are smitten by divine forces, among them the hippopotamus-goddess, the lion, and a cat-goddess. The investigation concerns the religious background of the massacre, which is done by the divine forces on snakes and human foes. It is proposed to identify the fighting animals as protective deities originating in art from stellar constellations or decans protecting the mother and her child at the beginning of lifetime.

    Niniejszy artykuł jest przedrukiem tekstu będącego wstępem teoretycznym do opublikowanej w roku 1993 pracy zbiorowej Polacy wobec ładu postmonocentrycznego. Społeczeństwo polskie i jego instytucje w 1992 roku. Omawia on podstawowy kierunek rozpoczętej w Polsce w roku 1989 wielkiej transformacji systemowej, wykorzystując w tym celu klasyczne Parsonsowskie przeciwstawienie dwóch przeciwstawnych układów zmiennych wzoru oraz Stanisława Ossowskiego czterech typów ładu społecznego. Pokazuje on, jak „rdzeń transformacji”, czyli podejmowane zgodnie z „interesem teoretycznym” działania modernizacyjne w gospodarce, polityce i kulturze napotykają na wywodzący się z różnych źródeł opór społeczny. Tekst publikowany jest w przekonaniu, że może on stanowić znakomite nawiązanie do Karla Polanyi’ego koncepcji double movement (przywoływanej w niniejszym tonie w artykule Macieja Kassnera), pokazując w szczególności, że opór wobec wprowadzania gospodarki rynkowej miał nie tylko ekonomiczny, ale znacznie szerszy, tj. społeczno-kulturowy charakter.
    This article is a reprint of a text which is a theoretical introduction to a collective work published in 1993 entitled Polacy wobec ładu postmonocentrycznego. Społeczeństwo polskie i jego instytucje w 1992 roku. It discusses the basic direction of the great systemic transformation, which began in Poland in 1989, using for this purpose Parsons’ classical juxtaposition of two sets of pattern variables. It shows how the “core of the transformation”, i.e., modernisation measures taken in line with “theoretical interests” in the economy, politics and culture, encountered social resistance from various sources. The article is published in the belief that it can serve as an excellent reference to Karl Polanyi’s concept of double movement (cited in this issue in Maciej Kassner’s article), showing in particular that resistance to the introduction of a market economy was not only economic, but of a much broader, i.e. socio-cultural, nature.

    Wyzwanie, jakim dla przedsiębiorstw medialnych jest występowanie dotychczasowych biernych odbiorców w nowych rolach użytkowników, oznacza konieczność zmian na poziomie ich strategicznego zarządzania. Dezaktualizacji ulega dotychczasowa logika powstawania wartości – miejsce produkto- i przedsiębiorstwocentrycznego zajmuje powstawanie wartości w ramach sieciowej aktywności współtwórców. Jednocześnie, wobec erozji granic przedsiębiorstw medialnych, niezbędne staje się koordynowanie zarządzania relacjami z użytkownikami w ramach tzw. konstelacji sieci wartości. Ponieważ zmiany mają charakter ewolucyjny – nowym trendom towarzyszą dotychczasowe rozwiązania – tradycyjne identyfikowanie i zaspokajanie potrzeb odbiorców współgra z identyfikowaniem i oferowaniem użytkownikom najbardziej pożądanych przez nich aktywności. Celem artykułu jest wykazanie, że wyzwaniem dla współczesnych przedsiębiorstw medialnych jest zaakceptowanie i wykorzystanie, zważywszy na cele strategiczne, niehierarchicznych sieciowych relacji z użytkownikami oraz takie ich konfigurowanie, by w największym i najbardziej pożądanym wymiarze współtworzyli wartości.
    The new challenge of previously passive recipients becoming actual users indicates the need for a change for media companies at the level of strategic management. The existing logic of value creation has become obsolete - product- and business-centric logic has been replaced with value creation as a result of network activity of the co-creators. At the same time, due to the erosion of boundaries of media companies, it is becoming necessary to coordinate management of relationship with the users as a part of the so-called constellation of users’ network. Those changes have evolutionary characteristics – new trends are accompanied by the previous ones – so the traditional identification and meeting customer needs to be unified with identifying and providing the users with their most desired activities. The main purpose of this article is to show that modern media companies are facing the challenge of accepting and proper utilization of non-hierarchical network relationship with their users – they also have to take strategic objectives into account – and configuring them in a way which would allow them to co-create the common value in the biggest and the most desirable dimension.

    Ibsenowskie konstelacje Ewy Partygi prezentują dzieło Ibsena w perspektywie jego związków literackich, artystycznych, filozoficznych. Bodaj najbłyskotliwsze są konstelacje wizualne, w których rozpatruje relacje Ibsena i Muncha, Ibsena „w teatrze fotografii” i fotografię w dramatach Ibsena, wreszcie relację Ibsen – Munch – Vilhelm Hammershøi. Konstelacje filozoficzne obejmują tylko dwa teksty, z których pierwszy prezentuje niezwykłe paralele między Ibsenem jako autorem "Budowniczego Solnessa" i Nietzschem jako autorem "Z genealogii moralności". Drugi z tekstów jest równie odważny, gdyż dotyczy Ibsena i Kierkegaarda w perspektywie metateatralności. Konstelacje skandynawskie i młodopolskie prezentują problem recepcji Ibsena w dramacie i teatrze skandynawskim i polskim. Książka Ewy Partygi podnosi problem obecności Ibsena w teatrze Ingmara Bergmana; jest to pierwsze studium polskie na ten temat. Konstelacje młodopolskie zawierają istotne rewizje polskich mitów ibsenowskich. Pełna recepcja jego dzieła, obejmująca nowoczesne przekłady, artystycznie bogaty odbiór teatralny, naprawdę fachową krytykę teatralną i akademicką, głęboki rezonans widowni zaczęły się niedawno albo właśnie się zaczynają. Ibsenowskie konstelacje należą do tej nowej fali i są książką wybitną.
    Ewa Partyga’s Ibsenowskie konstelacje (Ibsen in Constellations) present the work of Ibsen in various literary, artistic, and philosophical contexts. Perhaps the most brilliant of them belong to the visual constellations, in which the author tackles the relationships between Ibsen and Munch, “Ibsen in the theatre of photography” and “photography in Ibsen’s dramas”, as well as the relationship between Ibsen, Munch, and Vilhelm Hammershøi. The philosophical constellations consist of only to essays. The first uncovers some striking parallels between Ibsen as the author of The Master Builder and Nietzsche as the author of On the Genealogy of Morality. The second text is equally important, because it deals with Ibsen and Kierkegaard with a view to metatheatricality. The Scandinavian and Young Polish constellations focus on the problem of reception of Ibsen’s work in the drama and theatre of Scandinavia and Poland respectively. Partyga examines the problem of Ibsen’s presence in Ingmar Bergman’s theatre; it is the first Polish study on the topic. The Young Polish constellations bring important revisions of Polish myths about Ibsen. A full reception of his oeuvre that encompasses modern translations, artistically rich theatre reception, as well as truly competent theatre and academic criticism in conjunction with a deep audience response has only just begun in Poland. The book Ibsenowskie inspiracje is a part of this new wave and it is an outstanding one.

    Opis:
    Progress in miniaturization of satellite components allows complex missions to be performed by small spacecraft. Growing interest in the small satellite sector has led to development of standards such as CubeSat, contributing to lower costs of satellite development and increasing their service competitiveness. Small satellites are seen now as a prospective replacement for conventional sized satellites in the future, providing also services for demanding users. New paradigms of multi-satellite missions such as fractionation and federalization also open up new prospects for applications of small platforms. To perform a comprehensive simulation and analysis of future nanosatellite missions, an adequate propulsion system model must be used. Such model should account for propulsion solutions which can be implemented on nanosatellites and used in multisatellite missions. In the paper, concepts of distributed satellite systems (constellations, formations, fractionated and federated) are described with a survey of past, on-going and planned multi-satellite nanosatellites missions. Currently developed propulsion systems are discussed and the models of propulsion systems embedded in the WUT satellite simulation model are presented.
    Postępująca miniaturyzacja podzespołów satelitarnych pozwala na realizację skomplikowanych misji przez małe satelity. Wzrost zainteresowania małymi satelitami przyczynił się do powstania standardów takich jak CubeSat, umożliwiając zmniejszenie kosztów budowy oraz wzrost konkurencyjności usług oferowanych przez małe satelity. Istnieje przekonanie, że w najbliższym czasie małe satelity zastąpią satelity duże oferując usługi także wymagającym użytkownikom. Nowe architektury misji wielosatelitarnych jak federacyjne systemy satelitarne czy frakcjonowanie satelitów wskazują nowe możliwości wykorzystania małych satelitów. Aby umożliwić zaawansowaną symulację i analizę nowych misji realizowanych przez nanosatelity konieczne jest wykorzystanie odpowiedniego modelu zespołu napędowego. Taki model powinien obejmować rozwiązania, które mogą zostać użyte na nanosatelitach do realizacji misji wielosatelitarnych. W artykule opisano architektury misji (konstelacje, formacje, federacje i frakcjonowanie), a także przedstawiono przegląd zakończonych, trwających i planowanych misji wielosatelitarnych wykorzystujących nanosatelity. Omówione są obecnie wykorzystywane systemy napędowe oraz zaprezentowany jest model systemu napędowego wykorzystanego w modelu symulacyjnym satelity opracowanym przez zespół autorów.

    The paper discusses the problem of the growing threat of orbital collisions – the Kessler syndrome in the Earth’s lower orbit caused by orbital satellite constellations developed to provide broadband internet. It provides a theoretical context for the main argument by presenting the current data related to space debris in orbit, the concept of the Kessler syndrome and its application to orbital objects, the legal framework pertaining to the issue, mitigation programs and plans, and new orbital satellites constellations under development and how they contribute to the Kessler syndrome threat. The main contribution of the paper is the carried out argument that the lack of a global legal system regulating the use of the Earth’s orbit is a factor that strengthens the threat.
