    In this paper, I aim to characterize the pragmatist and anti-deflationist notions of truth. I take Habermas’s rather recent discussion (1999) and present the interpretation that his notion of truth relies on the reliabilist conception of knowledge rather than the internalist conception that defines knowledge as a justified true belief. Then, I show that my interpretation is consistent with Habermas’s project of weak naturalism. Finally, I draw some more general implications about the pragmatist notion of truth.

    The contribution of medieval canon lawyers regarding to the development of the legal bases of contemporary constitutional thinking is analyzed in three areas: 1) Origin and development of the principle of sovereignty, from the concepts of jurisdictio and potestas. Papal sovereignty and its limits, from the doctrine of plenitudo potestatis. 2) Relationship between individual and collegiate power from the legal abstractions of universitas and persona representata. 3) Their contribution to the consensus theory of power and doctrinal development of the concept congregatio fidelium.
    Se analiza la contribución de la canonística medieval al desarrollo de las bases jurídicas del pensamiento constitucional contemporáneo en tres ámbitos: 1) El origen y el desarrollo del principio de soberanía, desde las nociones de jurisdictio y potestas. La soberanía papal y sus límites, a partir de la construcción de la plenitudo potestatis. 2) La relación entre el poder unipersonal y colegial a partir de la abstracción jurídica de la universitas y de la persona representata. 3) Su aportación a la teoría consensual del poder y la construcción doctrinal de la noción de congregatio fidelium.

    Opis:
    The purpose of the presented paper is to showcase the links between Hans-Hermann Hoppe’s libertarian argumentation ethics and Karl-Otto Apel’s transcendental pragmatics with a special reference to the consensus theory of truth proposed by the latter thinker. More specifically, the author contends that Hoppe’s theory is logically contingent on Apel’s views on truth in that some crucial gaps in Hoppe’s grounding of the so-called “a priori of communication and argumentation” are filled by Apel’s original arguments. Additionally, the paper provides a case for interpreting Hoppe's ethics as a theory of rational conflict-freedom, which seems to cohere best with the transcendental-pragmatist approach. Finally, the author offers a few remarks on how the most common objections against Hoppe's theory can be overcome on the basis of the transcendental pragmatics and the conflict-freedom principle.
    Celem prezentowanego artykułu jest wskazanie związków zachodzących pomiędzy Hansa-Hermanna Hoppego libertariańską etyką argumentacyjną a transcendentalną pragmatyką Karla-Otto Apla ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem zaproponowanej przez tego ostatniego myśliciela konsensualnej teorii prawdy. Dokładniej rzecz ujmując, zdaniem autora teoria Hoppego jest logicznie zależna od Apla poglądów na kwestię prawdy. Oryginalne argumenty Apla wypełniają bowiem kluczowe luki w dokonanym przez Hoppego ugruntowaniu tzw. "a priori komunikacji i argumentacji". Dodatkowo, artykuł zawiera argumentację na rzecz interpretowania etyki Hoppego jako teorii racjonalnej wolności od konfliktów, czemu najlepiej odpowiada właśnie podejście transcendentalno-pragmatyczne. Wreszcie, autor wysuwa kilka uwag odnośnie do najpopularniejszych obiekcji przeciwko teorii Hoppego, które przezwyciężyć można na bazie transcendentalnej pragmatyki i zasady wolności od konfliktów.

    Opis:
    This study incorporates Honneth’s social recognition into awareness context theory by reconsidering a case study of the dialogue between Zainichi Korean and Japanese people in Japan. It revitalizes the theoretical significance of Strauss’ symbolic interactionism in terms of its focus on power dynamics and conflicts between the majority and minorities that differ in the cultural or ethnic background in modern global society. Incorporating critical theory into symbolic interactionism is a method of enhancing its contemporary significance. However, the discrepancy between them remains unresolved. There are some previous studies on Zainichi Koreans’ dialogue and the public sphere. Still, this case uniquely fits the aim of this study. As a result, it proposes both a substantive theory as a social justice inquiry in Japanese society and a modified formal theory of awareness context by adopting the theoretical perspective coined in this study and using abductive reasoning in the reconsideration. The substantive theory proposes a joint action characterized by unending mutual recognition and pragmatist dissent as a pragmatist public sphere between different ethnic persons in Japan. It is a method of grassroots communication that realizes liberal democracy as the form of modern society in Japan, liberating people from the Japanese communitarian mindset of Wa. The formal theory proposes new awareness contexts focusing on information and social recognition, which applies to the majority-minority relationship that differs in cultural or ethnic backgrounds from a theoretical perspective by focusing on conflicts between traditional cultural communities and modern society. Additionally, as an implication of this study, a pluralistic character of symbolic interactionism united by common frameworks of formal theories is proposed.
