Opis:
The main direction of development of steel building structures is to reduce the cost of implementation of buildings without changing their load-bearing capacity and value in use. Therefore, an essential factor in the development is the introduction of modern technologies. Solutions from other industries such as automotive or aerospace, have been adapted to perform building structures. As a result, today in the construction industry we use lightweight steel profiles from cold-bent elements. Modern technology and advanced calculation theory make it possible to build these structures much more economically than previous conventional systems. Elements and products made of thin sheets allow to reduce costs of construction, but at the same time is associated with the possibility of defects resulting in the appearance of a state of failure of structural elements or the entire facility. Connection zones of thin-walled elements are always the critical points, hence the need for a particularly thorough assessment at the design stage, and then at the implementation of the investment. Correct application of the presented calculation procedure in article will allow the design and realization of modern structures, which will be durable and safe in operation for the expected period of time.

W artykule omówiono zagadnienie powstawania złącza przetłoczeniowego cienkich blach stalowych H320LA. Przedstawiono badania mające na celu określenie wpływu siły kształtowania na własności wytrzymałościowe powstałych w ten sposób złączy. Jakość złączy oceniono na podstawie badań wizualnych oraz wytrzymałościowych. Dokonano oceny procesu kształtowania złącza na podstawie map rozkładu intensywności odkształcenia, oraz naprężeń średnich przy wykorzystaniu MES. Uzyskane wyniki stanowią podstawę do określenia parametrów procesu kształtowania połączeń wysokowytrzymałej blachy stalowej.
The article discusses the problem of the creation of a clinched connection between two thin H320LA steel sheets. Tests, which have purpose of defining the influence of forming force on the strength qualities of the connections created in this fashion, are shown. Connection quality was evaluated based on visual tests and strength tests. The process of forming the connection was evaluated based on maps of strain intensity distribution and average stress using FEM. The results obtained are the basis for determining parameters for the process of forming connections of the high-strength steel sheet.

The following paper is connected to the formulation of the task for traffic flow optimisation in the examined part of transport network for a criterion of equal average costs. It is assumed that transport network is presented in a form of a graph. The arcs of a graph have interpretation of paths connections, vertices of a graph have interpretation of locations. On paths connections, the capacity function interpretation has been defined. Based on information mentioned above, the optimization task of determining the equipment regrouping relations is formulated. First of all, assumptions on displacement of vehicles in a given network in a regroup relation were defined. What is more, criteria of vehicles flows in regroup relations in a transport network were formulated and then optimizing tasks for vehicles flow were defined: the first optimization task of vehicles flow with average cost criterion and the second one: optimization task of vehicles flow with cost criterion.

A beam–to-column connection design and results of engineer calculations using Autodesk’s Robot Structural analysis are shown in the article. Two types of connections, bolted and welded, were calculated. The tensile resistance amounted to 912.74 kN, bending resistance to 100.87 kN·m and effective design capacity of the bolt amounted to 27.69 kN. Normal stress in the weld amounted to σ⊥max = τ⊥max = 72.72 MPa, in the vertical weld to σ⊥= τ⊥= 63.34 MPa and tangent stress amounted to τ|| = 4.37 MPa. The results allowed us to implement minor changes such as increasing the distance between the bolt and the edge and decreasing the size of the fillet welds. The design is fully compliant with the EN 1993-1-8 norm. Using Robot Structural Analysis substantially increased the pace of calculations giving precise and clear outcomes.

Crossing borders: between literature and science – Italian culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries has offered significant examples of renewal through crossing boundaries between different disciplines. Several writers (Levi, Calvino, Gadda, Sinisgalli, Del Giudice, Giordano, Arpaia, Odifreddi) have overcome the dichotomy between the two cultures that was denounced by Charles Snow in 1959. Sixty years after the famous essay by Snow, the paper will show several examples of connections between literature and science, by using the concept of the “four frontier customs”: “the transit”, “the trespass”, “the alliance”, and “the conflict”.

A new method has been developed for predicting the load distribution along the thread portion of a bolt and nut connection. The calculated results were validated by comparison with three-dimensional finite element analysis and Yamamoto’s method. It was shown that the load distribution predicted by the model in this paper was in good agreement with the results from finite element model, and the load ratio on the first thread by the prediction model and finite element model was slightly larger than the results from Yamamoto’s method. In addition, the results of calculation and finite element analysis indicated that the decreasing of the lead angle could improve the load distribution, the increasing of the length of thread engaged could significantly improve the load bearing capacity of the first thread, and the adopting of a material with low stiffness for the nut with respect to the bolt could improve the load distribution slightly.

Fire safety is a major concern in the design of timber construction. Wood is combustible material. The thermal response of timber connections is usually the main factor in evaluating the overall load-bearing capacity of wood structures exposed to fire. The analysis of timber joints under fire conditions is difficult and complex. Finite element model is developed to predict the thermal behavior of bolted wood-to-wood joints exposed to fire. In fire, the material characteristic depend on the temperature. The thermal model is continuous, taking into account the thermal continuity between the joint components. Also, the thermal model is used to predict the evolution of the temperature field inside the connection. The paper presents a summary of results from a numerical studies of the fire behavior of wood-to-wood timber connections with steel bolt. As a result of computer simulations the temperature distribution was obtained. During fire exposure, the timber section is reduced and steel bolt reduces strength. Loadcarrying capacity per shear plane in fire conditions was calculated using two methods: design methods according to EN 1995-1-1 [5] and reduced load method according to EN 1995-1-2 [6]. In the first approach, the timber section loss and steel strength reduction during the fire were taken into account.

The article is devoted to the research of the motif of deception in the fairy‑tales of the Polish and Ukrainian writer S. Ostashevskyi. The work offers arguments for the topicality of the research as well as for the choice of the analysis methodology. It also emphasizes the significance of studying the author’s creative works with a view to revealing those connections between Ukrainian and Polish culture which indisputably prove their kinship. Four types of the deception motif have been distinguished based on the collections of fairy‑tales Half‑a‑Kopa Fairy‑Tales for the Little World and Half‑a‑Hundred Fairy‑Tales for Jolly People. These types are as follows: “a creature with superpowers deceives people by appearing in front of them in an anthropomorphous, intentionally inferior, everyday image”, “an infernal character takes people in without changing its image but promising material benefits and solutions to people’s life problems in exchange for their own souls or their children’s souls”, “a person (usually, a woman) deceives/tries to deceive an infernal character or some supreme forces in general”, and “a person deludes another person”. The comparison of this material with the corresponding folklore and literary heritage has defined the specificity of using and transforming the deception motif by S. Ostashevskyi: dependence on the expression of the religious idea, comical play such as appears in the 19th‑century burlesque and travesty art, and reflection on the harmonious combination of Ukrainian and Polish folklore traditions.

Opis:
This paper proposes a methodology based on system connections to calculate its complexity. Two study cases are proposed: the dining Chinese philosophers’ problem and the distribution center. Both studies are modeled using the theory of Discrete Event Systems and simulations in different contexts were performed in order to measure their complexities. The obtained results present i) the static complexity as a limiting factor for the dynamic complexity, ii) the lowest cost in terms of complexity for each unit of measure of the system performance and iii) the output sensitivity to the input parameters. The associated complexity and performance measures aggregate knowledge about the system.
