Opis:
There are specified criteria used to verify if some geological structure was developed during hypervelocity impact. Some of them are related to the passage of a shock wave through rocks, so are considered as definitive. Porządzie, Jaszczulty & Ochudno are structures discovered in 2014 (based on LiDAR data). They have many features suggesting possible impact origin. In shape of Porządzie there can be even recognized possible traces of shock waves, similar to those present during hypersonic flow (similar to observed e.g. in an airburst shape of extraordinary bright meteors). Unfortunately, this kind of observations (morphometry) on Earth is still considered as not enough to confirm the crater. The aim of recent study was to search for additional traces, which may help to prove that mentioned structures were created during common oblique impact event. Initially there were chosen 3 locations for outcrops, but finally samples were collected from 6 smaller pits. In Porzadzie structure there were discovered cemented rocks with various shape and size (concretions or lithic, parautochtonous breccias) and 2 rocks with possibly shocked quartz, having basal sets of thin and straight lamellae. On once surface there were recognized hierarchal branched (including spoon-like) structures resembling shatter cones. In uprange, at depth of about 50–70 cm, soil was rich in small charcoal pieces (like in other relatively small craters: e.g. Campo del Cielo, Whitecourt, Kaali, Ilumetsa, Morasko). All these observations, taken together with previous results, are about to confirm impact origin of Porzadzie crater.

Opis:
The aim of the study was to assess the dynamicsof changes in the content of hop bitter acids during long-termstorage of cones that vary in maturity degree under differenttemperature conditions. The impact of the degree of maturityof hop cones on the stability of bitter acids during storage islittle known so far, and it is important, because due to the systematicincrease of the hop growing area on individual farms, thecone harvesting period is extended beyond the optimal phase oftechnological maturity. Hop cultivars belonging to two groupswere included in the study: bitter (Magnat, Magnum) and aroma(Puławski, Sybilla). Cones were collected on a few dates duringvegetation season, starting from the phase in which they reachedmaximum size until the beginning of physiological maturity. The dried cones were stored at +5 °C and +20 °C for 12 monthsand tested every three months for alpha and beta acid contentusing HPLC. Studies have shown that too early a hop harvestadversely affected bitter acid content. Storage temperature hadsignificant impact on the degradation of alpha and beta acids. Ata higher temperature the decrease in the content of these compoundswas greater. The tested hop cultivars were characterized bydifferent stability of bitter acids. The highest stability of alphaacids was observed for Sybilla, while the lowest for Magnat. The stability of alpha and beta acids during long-term storageof the raw material, especially at + 20oC, depended on the degreeof cones maturity. The aging rate of hop cones was not thesame throughout the storage period. For the first 3–6 months ata temperature of +5oC, the bitter acid content remained at a levelsimilar to the initial one, later a relatively rapid decrease in thecontent of these metabolites occurred. At higher temperatures, the bitter acid stabilization period was shorter.

Opis:
Decision making with multiple criteria requires preferences elicited from the decision maker to determine a solution set. Models of preferences, that follow upon the concept of nondominated solutions introduced by Yu (1974), are presented and compared within a unified framework of cones. Polyhedral and nonpolyhedral, convex and nonconvex, translated, and variable cones are used to model different types of preferences. Common mathematical properties of the preferences are discussed. The impact of using these preferences in decision making is emphasized.

In this paper, we introduce new classes of nonsmooth second-order cone-convex functions and respective generalizations in terms of first and second-order directional derivative. These classes encapsulate several already existing classes of cone-convex functions and their weaker variants. Second-order KKT type sufficient optimality conditions and duality results for a nonsmooth vector optimization problem are proved using these functions. The results have been supported by examples.

This article is an Egyptological study of two funerary cones of the otherwise well known Theban official of the Twenty-sixth Dynasty, Padineith, majordomo of the Divine Consorts of Amun, who was buried in the tomb TT 197 on the Asasif cemetery. These two cones, however, were found in the structures of another Theban Tomb – MMA 1152 – turned into a hermitage by Christian monks – among objects, obviously brought back from peregrinations of these men all over through the Theban West Bank, most probably with intention to use them for some other secondary purpose.

The type collection of the lycopsid cone species Triplosporite brownii Unger was re-examined to assess its in situ spores. The cones are monosporangiate with only microspores that possess both cingulum and zona. They equate to the dispersed miospore genus Lycospora and would be identified as Lycospora cf. pseudoannulata. Therefore, the genus Triplosporite Brown is shown to be a junior synonym to Lepidostrobus and a species emendation is given. A comparison is given with the other Lepidostrobus cones which yielded similar in situ microspores of the Lycospora pellucida Group.

Opis:
In this study, the potential beneficial impacts that the thinnings intensity on stand behavior and soil properties are also studied. This study was designed to test the hypothesis that thinning to various stand densities at young age enhance productivity of wood, cones and the physicochemical characteristics of the soil in Pinus pinea stands. We based our study on four thinning intensity (30, 40, 50 and 65%) in comparison with the control plot. The study was supplemented by a haracterization of radial growth of trees under the four thinning intensity. It was based on a complete randomized experimental field installed in 1994 in Tabarka forest, in Tunisia. For the radial growth analysis, three cores were taken from 125 trees at a rate of one tree per plot. The study showed that thinning has a significant effect on all dendrometric parameters. They revealed that a thinning intensity of 65% produces the best wood production (180.710 m3/ha), in annual growth in volume (4.634 m3/ha/year) and cone production (1211 cones/ha) compared to other thinning and control plot. Associated vegetation was also influenced by thinning intensities. The physicochemical characteristics of the soil were improved by thinning compared with the control. Signif- icant radial growth thinning was recorde especially in a thinning of 65% intensity (increases of 3.5 to 6.1 mm/year) compared to the control (1.1 to 2 mm/year). A strong relationship between radial growth and age was recorded at Thinning 4 (R2 = 0.923). These results can be used as an initial basis to refine silvicul- ture of pinion pine in order to improve stand productivity in Tunisia in wood and especially in cones given their importance on the world market.
