Opis:
A zeolite membrane reactor concept for the hydroisomerization of n-hexane was applied experimentally. The results indicate separation selectivities with factors close to 20 for n-, mono- and dibranched components in a gas mixture, as well as nhexane conversions up to equilibrium values. The research octane number calculated for the product stream of the different experiments indicates numbers as high as 85. For the hydroisomerization of C7 alkanes, a concept of two reactors and a zeolite membrane was proposed and an industrial scale process was simulated. A high octane number product containing tribranched, and a part of dibranched, C7 isomers is predicted. Although the product yield was calculated to be only 24% of the process feed, there was an improvement in a research octane number from 57 for the feed to 92 for the product. Both processes show that the application of zeolite membranes in the hydroisomerization of light alkanes can results in a octane number higher, than in the "state of the art" processes. The membrane unit, however, is the main cost driver of the processes, thus, the economical feasibility of industrial scale light alkanes hydroisomerization processes using zeolite membranes is restricted to its further commercial development.

Encountered at all levels of language, conceptual asymmetries between source and target languages present translators with fundamental challenges that require problem awareness, problem identification and problem solving. A case in point is conceptual metaphor in translation. Versions of conceptual metaphor theory have been applied in various productoriented studies of how translators deal with the challenge of metaphor in translation. However, there is potential in combining product-oriented approaches with techniques used to access translators’ cognitive processes, although process-oriented studies on how conceptual metaphor is re-conceptualised or re-mapped in translation are still rare. Building on an exploratory study carried out at our institute, in which findings from translation process data suggest that experience and/or training appears to be a main factor in handling conceptual metaphor, we present some salient features of re-mapping metaphor. Triangulating data from target-text products, keystroke logs and retrospective verbal commentaries collected under very similar conditions in a laboratory setting, we analyse how translators at different levels of experience handle two complex conceptual metaphors. The results appear to suggest that complex metaphor might indeed be culturespecific. They also potentially indicate that re-mapping practices are a function of experience and that re-mapping to a source-language target domain could create more uncertainty than generic-level re-mapping. Both findings hold pedagogical implications, which are discussed together with some methodological issues.

W artykule opisano podstawowe założenia procesu generalizacji danych przestrzennych. Scharakteryzowano ważniejsze modele konceptualne generalizacji oraz metody optymalizacji i kontroli tego procesu. Następnie nakreślono aktualne problemy i kierunki badań, jakimi są m.in. kontekstowość procesu generalizacji, generalizacja on-line i wieloreprezentacyjne bazy danych przestrzennych, holistyczny charakter procesu generalizacji, możliwości formalizacji wiedzy kartograficznej oraz opracowanie wspólnej platformy generalizacyjnej.
Generalization is one of basic features of cartographic presentation. According to the International Cartographic Association generalization is a seleetion and simplification of geographic information to fit the map's scale and purpose. In the 80s and 90s the research on automation of the generalization process focused on two major issues: development of new generalization algorithms and acquisition and application of cartographic knowledge, eg. in the form of rules in expert systems. Nowadays research concentrates firstly on more comprehensive generalization algorithms, accounting for a series of factors and spatial relations between objects, and secondly on more advanced generalization techniques, e.g. multi agent systems. Dynamic development of research on generalization automation raised the requirements for the already existing or currently developed systems supporting the process of generalization. The research focuses on: - acquisition of cartographic knowledge in order to identify the rules which govern the process of generalization, - formalization of the rules of generalization, - development of generalization models, - development of more comprehensive tools for spatial analysis and new generalization algorithms, - modeling of geographic space in the form of object-oriented structures, with fuller geometrie and topologie features of spatial data, attempts to apply algorithms and data structures which support the process of cartographic generalization (e.g. application of Delauney's triangulation in the process of building relocation), - elaboration of multi-representational spatial data-bases, enabling the user to visualize data from one base on different levels of detail, - possibility to apply the available generalization algorithms in a selected software environment in order to experiment with the application sequence and harmonization. The article discusses basic assumptions of the process of spatial data generalization. More important conceptual models of generalization and methods of optimization and control of the process are characterized. Current problems and research direetions are presented, with special attention being paid to: contextual aspects of the generalization process, on-line generalization, multi-presentational spatial databases, comprehensive character of the process, possibility to formalize cartographic knowledge and development of a common generalization platform.

In the research, a quasi-experimental model was applied and the experimental group received the process approach to learning and teaching mathematics, which builds on the cognitive-constructivist findings of educational profession about learning and teaching mathematics. In the control group, the transmission approach prevailed. In the research, the question was answered of what impact the implementation of the process approach to learning and teaching mathematics has on the learner’s knowledge, which can be tested and assessed. Students in the experimental group (EG) performed significantly better in basic and conceptual knowledge, in solving simple mathematical problems, and in complex knowledge than those in the control group. Results of the research have also shown that there are statistically significant correlations between individual areas of mathematical knowledge. The correlations between the areas of knowledge are from medium high to high, indicating that conceptual knowledge correlates significantly with solving simple mathematical problems and with complex knowledge.

Opis:
A conceptual model was proposed in the present study, which highlighted important independent and dependent variables in order to managing the groundwater quality. Furthermore, the methods of selection of variable and collection of related data were explained. The study was carried out in the Tajan Plain, north of Iran; 50 drinking wells were considered as sampling points. In this model the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) was proposed to select the indicator water quality parameters. According to expert opinions and characteristics of the study area ten factors were chosen as variables influencing the quality of groundwater (land use types, lithology units, geology units, distance of wells to the outlet, distance to the residential areas, direction toward the residential areas, depth of the groundwater table, the type of aquifer, transmissivity and population). Geographic Information System (AecGIS 9.3) was used to manage the spatial-based variables and the data of non-spatial-based variables were obtained from relevant references. A database, which contains all collected data related to groundwater quality management in the studied area, was created as the output of the model. The output of this conceptual model can be used as an input for quantitative and mathematical models. Results show that 6 parameters (sulphate, iron, nitrate, electrical conductivity, calcium, and total dissolved solids (TDS) were the best indicators for groundwater quality analysis in the area. More than 50% of the wells were drilled in the depth of groundwater table about 5 meters, in this low depth pollutants can load into the wells and also 78% of the wells are located within 5 km from the urban area; it can be concluded from this result that the intensive urban activities could affect groundwater quality.
W przedstawionym badaniu zaproponowano model koncepcyjny, który uwydatnia niezależne i zależne zmienne ważne dla zarządzania jakością wód gruntowych. Wyjaśniono ponadto metody doboru zmiennych i gromadzenia stosownych danych. Badania prowadzono na Równinie Tajan na północy Iranu. Próby pobierano w 50 studniach. W wybranym modelu zaproponowano proces analitycznej hierarchii (AHP) do wyboru wskaźnikowych parametrów jakości wody. Zgodnie z opiniami ekspertów i charakterystyką obszaru badań wybrano dziesięć czynników stanowiących zmienne wpływające na jakość wód gruntowych (typ użytkowania ziemi, jednostki litologiczne, jednostki geologiczne, odległość studni od odpływu, odległość od terenów zamieszkanych przez ludzi, głębokość zwierciadła wód gruntowych, typ warstwy wodonośnej, przepuszczalność i liczba ludności). Wykorzystano system informacji geograficznej (AecGIS 9.3) do zarządzania zmiennymi przestrzennymi, a dane o zmiennych niezwiązanych z rozmieszczeniem przestrzennym pozyskano z literatury. Jako wyjście z modelu stworzono bazę danych, która zawiera wszystkie zebrane dane odnoszące się do zarządzania jakością wód gruntowych. Wyjście tego koncepcyjnego modelu może być użyte jako wejście do modeli ilościowych i matematycznych. Uzyskane wyniki świadczą, że najlepsze wskaźniki do analizy jakości wód gruntowych na badanym obszarze stanowiło 6 parametrów (siarczany, żelazo, azotany, przewodnictwo elektrolityczne, wapń i suma substancji rozpuszczonych). Ponad 50% studni wiercono do poziomu zwierciadła ok. 5 m. W warunkach tak małych głębokości można spodziewać się znacznej dostawy ładunku zanieczyszczeń. Spośród badanych studni 78% było usytuowanych w promieniu 5 km od terenów miejskich. Uzyskane wyniki pozwalają sądzić, że aktywność miejska może wpływać na jakość wód gruntowych.

I consider exceptional in this context the work of Roman Opalka (Opałka 1965 /1 - ∞), Natalia LL's recordings (Permanent recordings of time), Zdzislaw Jurkiewicz's Saturn and Jupiter Ways, and the projects by Stanisław Dróżdż (FROM TO) that touch upon various levels of time. In the presented analyses, I refer to the psychological and philosophical concept of perception and aperception, as well as an anthropological understanding of time. In my view, conceptual art is the genre whose characteristics lie in the conscious cognition and deep intellectual analysis of the reality surrounding the artist.
