    Production is becoming more customer-focused as it departs from delivering standardized mass products to market segments, and the emerging Industry 4.0 technologies render this much easier than before. These technologies enable two-way information exchange with customers throughout all the steps of product development, particularly in terms of tailor-made products. This study aims at presenting proposals of implementing Industry 4.0 technologies into the process of tailored products, where the product is customized for the customer from the start and where adjustments are also made at the manufacturing stage. The study also aims to build a concept of intensification of customer contact and to improve the process flow by applying Industry 4.0 technologies. The study’s subject is tailor-made furniture production, with individually designed products that are manufactured and installed at a customer’s facilities. The company in the study operates on a small scale. The study employs a case study methodology that shows how the process can be improved in terms of real-time effective customer contact and process flow. The huge potential of 3D visualization as well as augmented and virtual reality technologies are also demonstrated. The study concludes with several directions for further development of existing technology solutions.

    The purpose of this paper is to formulate the conceptual model of new service development and provide an algorithm for its implementation. The performance of the model, selection of individual elements and the interaction with the external environment are based on the methods of abstracting, logical analysis, synthesis, analogy, and generalization of a complex. The results show that some new service development models are not detailed enough. Usually, the meaning of the elements attributed to the model and the specificity, frequency, and importance of the tasks performing in particular steps are unclear.
    Celem tego artykułu jest sformułowanie koncepcyjnego modelu rozwoju nowych usług i dostarczenie algorytmu do jego implementacji. Wykonanie modelu, wybór poszczególnych elementów i interakcja ze środowiskiem zewnętrznym opierają się na metodach abstrakcji, analizie logicznej, syntezie, analogii i uogólnieniu kompleksu. Wyniki pokazują, że niektóre nowe modele rozwoju usług nie są wystarczająco szczegółowe. Zazwyczaj znaczenie elementów przypisanych do modelu oraz specyfika, częstotliwość i znaczenie zadań wykonywanych w poszczególnych krokach są niejasne.

    С привлечением этимологического, исторического, диалектного, а также современного общеупотребительного литературного материала рассматривается семантика, в первую очередь, русскоязычного корня хол(о)-, отчасти в сопоставлении с рядом славянских языков в контексте особенностей и отличия. Последовательно выводится общее и типичное в значениях таких слов, как холостой, холоп, холуй и др. На базе этого общего прослеживаются далее возможные ответвления в развитии исходных значений. Обращается внимание на специфику не выделяемых уже в настоящее время суффиксов -ст-, -п-, -уй и подобные, с представлением их воздействия на семантику корня при формировании лексем. Анализ подводит к возможности выделения парадигматико-концептуальной схемы и потенциала, лежащих в основе моделирующего развития определяемого круга слов с опорой на их корневую семантику. В завершение выводится и представляется в наглядном типологическом виде, с опорой на составляющие семантические признаки, указанная концептуальная схема-модель для семантики холостой в отношении русскоязычного ареала, с учетом общеупотребительных и диалектных употреблений.
    This article discusses the primarily Russian root хол(о)- based on the etymological, historical, and dialectal material as well as contemporary literary common language. The material is partly contrasted with some Slavonic languages in terms of features and differences. Common and individual features are highlighted within the meanings of such words as холостой, холоп, холуй and others. This is taken as a starting point for revealing further possible branches in the development of the original meanings. The author focuses on the specificity of the suffixes that are not currently isolated, -ст-, -п-, -уй, and similar. The author also shows the influence of these suffixes on the root semantics in the process of shaping lexems. The analysis demonstrates that it is possible to identify a paradigmatic-conceptual scheme and potential which underlie the development model of the word range in question and the semantics of their root. At the end, the scheme is shown in an illustrative and typological perspective next to the semantic features of the холостой lexem. The conclusions address the Russian linguistic domain covering the usage in the dialects and in the common language.

    У статті розглядаються питання щодо актуалізації проблематики досліджень із всесвітньої історії в роки незалежності України та на середньострокову перспективу. Автор аналізує науково-організаційні складові поліпшення вітчизняних досліджень у сучасну історичну добу, з’ясовує спеціалізацію на окремих історичних періодах та регіонах створеної у 1990-х рр. низки академічних інститутів, а також резерви, які слід задіяти для нарощування досліджень у даній царині. Пропонує визначення тематики і змістовного наповнення відповідних часових та географічних зрізів студій із всесвітньої історії. Окремо в статті аналізуються відповідні напрями досліджень новоствореної Державної установи «Інститут всесвітньої історії НАН України», визначаються пріоритети поглибленого вивчення вітчизняними істориками минулого і сьогодення оточуючого світу, з’ясування ролі та місця України і українського народу у розвитку європейського континенту і всесвітньо-історичного процесу минувшини і сучасності. Автор формулює амбітне завдання інтегрування української історії, її відповідного місця у світову не лише в роботах вітчизняних дослідників, а й у працях зарубіжних істориків, висвітлює складові розвитку національної історіографії в контексті імперативів сучасної світової історичної думки та формування вітчизняної науково-дослідницької парадигми у відповідності зі світовою історією. У статті актуалізується вивчення особливостей цивілізаційної структури сучасного світу, передового світового досвіду державотворення, сприяння поширенню в міжнародному інформаційному просторі досліджень про історичну тяглість статусу України як міжнародного актора.
    The article examines the questions of world history research actualization in the years of Ukrainian independence, and for the medium term. The author analyzes the scientific and institutional components to improve domestic investigations into the modern historical epoch, finds out the specialization in certain historical periods and regions created in the 1990’s by a number of academic institutions, as well as reserves, which should be used to increase research base in this area. The authour proposes definition of the theme and substantive content of the relevant sections of temporal and geographical studies of world history. Separately, the article analyzes the relevant research areas that are newly created by the State Institution “Institute of World History of NAS of Ukraine”, identifies priorities in-depth study by Russian historians of the past and present of the world, reveals the role and place of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people in the development of the European continent and world-historical past of the process and modernity. The author formulates ambitious goal of integration of Ukrainian history, its appropriate place in the world, not only in the works of local researchers, but also in foreign works of historians, highlights the constituent national historiography development imperatives of the context of the modern world historical thought and the formation of the domestic research paradigm in accordance with the World history. The article updates study of the features of civilizational structure of the modern world, the state of international best practices, promotion of the international information space research about the historical continuity of the status of Ukraine as an international actor.

    This study seeks to demonstrate the usefulness of a relatively underutilized approach to studying sustainable development as a term and concept. While studies on sustainable development have generally followed a normative approach seeking what the term should ideally mean, this study follows a historical approach such as recommended by the historian of philosopher Quentin Skinner to explore what changes of definition it has been capable of undergoing in the actual use. To illustrate why such changes may be a critical issue, we have deliberately focused on the case of a country – South Korea – where the very translation of the term into the native language, combined with other factors, has resulted in sustainable development being generally understood by the public as meaning something quite different from the more normative understanding of the term. Instead of a balanced development that protects the environment and promotes social welfare as well as promoting economic growth, sustainable development in the standard Korean translation has come to be understood as simply meaning continued economic growth, which is to be sought even at the expense of environmental degradation. For documentation and analysis, we have relied on various methods, while focusing on key sectors and select policy areas, including energy. We conclude with further reflections on why an approach such as ours might be a useful methodological addition in sustainable development research.
    W tej pracy podejmujemy użyteczne i relatywnie rzadko stosowano podejście do zrównoważonego rozwoju, rozumianego zarówno jako pojęcie, jak i koncepcja. Zwykle dominuje tu podejście normatywne, w ramach którego poszukuje się idealnej definicji, my proponujemy podejście historyczne, zgodne z zaleceniami historyka i filozofa Quentina Skinnera, odnoszące się do przeszłych zmian w definiowaniu i ich wpływu na obecne rozumowanie. Aby zilustrować, jak bardzo takie zmiany mogą być istotne, celowo wybraliśmy jeden kraj, Koreę Południową, w którym nawet przetłumaczenie terminu rozwój zrównoważony, w powiązaniu z innymi czynnikami, powoduje jego odmienne (niż to obowiązujące w podejściu normatywnym) rozumienie przez społeczeństwo. Miast rozwoju gwarantującego ochronę środowiska i społeczną pomyślność i wzrost gospodarczy, w standardowym koreańskim tłumaczeniu termin ten jest rozumiany jako trwały wzrost gospodarczy, do którego należy dążyć nawet za cenę degradacji środowiska. W badaniach opieraliśmy się na różnych metodach, uwagę zwracając na kluczowe sektory i obszary polityki, włączając w to kwestie energetyczne. Wykażemy, dlaczego takie podejście może być metodologiczne użytecznym dodatkiem do badań nad zrównoważonym rozwojem.

    W artykule wykazuję, że pragmatyzm jest w stanie rozstrzygnąć performatywny konflikt tkwiący w problemie zmiany schematu pojęciowego, czyli konflikt między pojęciem zmiany a pojęciem ciągłości. W tym celu dwie naczelne tezy pragmatystyczne – tezę o ścisłym związku pomiędzy teorią i praktyką oraz tezę o związku między językiem i warunkami jego użycia – interpretuję w świetle sensomotorycznej koncepcji doświadczenia. Koncepcja sensomotoryczna – opracowana pierwotnie przez Jeana Piageta, a obecnie rozwijana w neuronaukach kognitywnych – nakłada określone ograniczenia na możliwe sposoby intepretacji obu tez, eliminując tym samym wszystkie jednostronne wersje pragmatyzmu. Wspomiany konflikt między pojęciem zmiany i ciągłości zostaje przezwyciężony na mocy założenia, że to nie indywidualny przedmiot, ale wzorzec działania stanowi odniesienie myśli oraz pojęcia. Zmiana wzorca czy schematu działania jest z kolei rezultatem serii adaptacji podporządkowanych mechanizmowi tak zwanej kontroli wykonawczej, obejmującej zdolność planowania i refleksyjnego odnoszenia się do własnych i cudzych działań.
    In the article, I propose a thesis that pragmatism offers a way out of the performative conflict inherent in the quest for the laws of change in conceptual frameworks, i.e. the conflict between the explicit notion of change and the implicit notion of continuity. To this end, I interpret two main theses of pragmatism—the strict relationship between theory and action and between language and conditions of its use—in the light of the sensorimotor conception of experience. This conception—introduced by Jean Piaget and now advanced within cognitive neuroscience—imposes certain constraints on the way in which both theses might be construed, thus eliminating all one-sided versions of pragmatism. The conflict between continuity and change might be overcome in that it is not an object construed as an item of a certain kind, but a pattern of action is what constitutes the proper reference of thoughts and concepts. The change in the pattern or scheme of action is a resultant upon a series of adaptations subordinated to the mechanism of executive control, which encompasses the ability of planning and reflecting upon the incomes of one’s own and others’ actions.

    The paper analyses sample drawings produced by blind children. The focus will be put on the representation of concepts. Major findings gathered in the discussion section show that sight plays complementary rather than primary role in the process of conceptual development, which supports other research in the field of blindness studies conducted so far.
