Opis:
Many medical diagnostics and treatment procedures in the oncology, cranio-maxillofacial surgery, radiotherapy and neurosurgery deal with volumetric as well as surface data. Tumor detection or generation of the virtual treatment scene involves using complementary data sets that are obtained from different sensors, for example MR and CT data, or by the same sensor at different epochs. The very need for registration arises from the fact that the complementary data sets are acquired by imaging devices using different spatial coordinate systems or/and the anatomically correct superposition of two data instances cannot be performed without locally applied elastic transformation. The volume or surface matching is therefore an essential task in these applications. From the mathematical point of view the data aligning problem is an optimization task, which can be solved by using deterministic or non-deterministic optimization algorithms. Depending on the data size and the complexity of required matching transformation the runtime behaviour of the registration methods can stretch out between real-time and many hours' computations. In this paper various applications of the same registration paradigm are presented and discussed. The wide spectrum of the medical applications shows the importance of the registration approach for the optimization of medical diagnostics and treatment.

This work presents a practical and effective method to evaluate the reliability status of an object basing on the observation ofchanges in its functioning (automatics) and its technical condition (diagnostics). It has been observed that changes of the functioning condition potential could serve to determine the symptoms of transient (momentary) damages and the changes in the potential of the technical condition to determine the symptoms of parametric damages (non-total). Such an information, as it turns out, is sufficient to calculate reliability characteristics before dangerous catastrophic damages occur and to calculate reliability characteristics for every single object without having to deal with a numerous set of objects. Opis:
The work is devoted to the diagnostics of the stress state of systems that soften the shock load on the vehicle body, the elastic element of the car suspension such as a multi-leaf spring. The construction of a mathematical model taking into account the geometric nonlinearity according to the finite element method theory is considered. Mathematical modelling was carried out to take into account the change in the stiffness matrix of the system when changing its shape. For research, a symmetrical semi-elliptical spring consisting of five leaves is used. All numerous numerical experiments were performed in two computer-aided design (CAD) systems: ANSYS, a heavy multipurpose package and SolidWorks, a middle-level multipurpose package. Computeraided design algorithms have been developed to expand the capabilities of CAD. The analysis of the results obtained allows to conclude that the traditional models of nonlinearity in ANSYS and SolidWorks give approximately the same results, which at the maximum point differ by 20.6% from the data of a full-scale experiment. When using the proposed model, this difference is reduced to 7.95%.

Opis:
The paper presents a new technique for cognitive analysis and recognition of pathological wrist bone lesions. This method uses AI techniques and mathematical linguistics allowing us to automatically evaluate the structure of the said bones, based on palm radiological images. Possibilities of computer interpretation of selected images, based on the methodology of automatic medical image understanding, as introduced by the authors, were created owing to the introduction of an original relational description of individual palm bones. This description was built with the use of graph linguistic formalisms already applied in artificial intelligence. The research described in this paper demonstrates that for the needs of palm bone diagnostics, specialist linguistic tools such as expansive graph grammars and EDT-label graphs are particularly well suited. Defining a graph image language adjusted to the specific features of the scientific problem described here permitted a semantic description of correct palm bone structures. It also enabled the interpretation of images showing some in-born lesions, such as additional bones or acquired lesions such as their incorrect junctions resulting from injuries and synostoses.
