    Opis:
    Umiejętność właściwego wykorzystania współczesnych osiągnięć techniki w zakresie światła wydaje się stosunkowo prosta. Jednakże w obszarach zabudowy miejskiej odczuwalny jest niejednokrotnie znaczny dyskomfort powodowany nieumiejętnym doborem oświetlenia do miejscowej specyfiki i lokalnych potrzeb. Istotne różnice w natężeniu oświetlenia, powodowane nieumiejętnym doborem oświetlenia podkreślającego miejscowe aspekty kreowania przestrzeni publicznej, doprowadzają miejscami do zatarcia granicy percepcji pomiędzy dniem i nocą, a z drugiej strony strefy mniej oświetlone stają się optyczną „czarną dziurą”. W artykule zwrócono uwagę na odpowiednio planowane i projektowane oświetlenie budynków, stref zamieszkania zbiorowego, ulic i innych elementów przestrzeni w aspekcie społecznym, w taki sposób, aby niezależnie od komfortu życia mieszkańców przeciwdziałać zjawisku zanieczyszczenia światłem.
    The ability to make proper use of modern technical advancements in the field of lighting seems relatively simple. However, a large degree of discomfort is often experienced in urban built-up areas which is caused by the improper tailoring of lighting to local specifics and needs. Marked jumps in lighting intensity, caused by the improper selection of lighting, that underline the local aspects of shaping public spaces, at times leading to a blurring of the borders of perception between night and day on the one hand, and zones that are less illuminated become an optical “black hole” on the other. The paper is focused on the proper planning and design of the illumination of buildings, multi-family residential zones, streets and other elements of space taking into account their social aspect, in a manner which allows light pollution to be prevented regardless of the residents’ quality of life.

    Pisanie akademickie zawsze miało pierwszorzędne znaczenie dla studentów. Pisanie jest podstawą nauki, więc rozwijanie umiejętności pisania w języku angielskim otwiera przed nimi większe możliwości. Artykuł analizuje różne rodzaje eseju akademickiego, określa wymagania niezbędne do skutecznego pisania, analizuje strukturę i funkcje jego elementów składowych oraz bada strukturę kompozycyjną akapitów.
    Academic writing has always been of primary importance for post-graduate students. Writing is the basis of study, so developing the skills of writing in English opens higher opportunities for them. The paper considers different types of an academic essay, outlines requirements which are necessary for effective writing, analyses structure and functions of its constituent elements and examines compositional structure of paragraphs. The structure of an academic essay consists of introduction that includes thesis statement defining the content of the main part; body that presents argumentation of the problem. This part also includes compilation of other points of view and presentation of  the own theory.  Conclusion is the final part that summarizes the topics in the paragraphs and gives final commentary or recommendations of the writer. Compositional structure of a paragraph normally starts with the topic sentence identifying its main idea. It is  followed with supporting sentences developing the main idea and giving details, facts or examples, and the last sentence (concluding) which refers to the topic at the beginning of the paragraph or links the information with that coming up in the next paragraph. Such paragraph composition allows conveying information in the most effective way. Linking words and phrases (logical connectors) are normally used in the texts of academic essay and are classified on their functional purpose in the text. They realize coherent links between sentences and paragraphs and help students to convey their understanding best.  Academic writing, namely essays, teaches students to analyze and choose useful information for further research, to look at the ideas from a different prospective and to convey concepts and obtained results best to their target readers. An essay can be considered an effective form of different language skills control.

    Opis:
    The Paper investigates the different aspects and possibilities of a dialogue with water in contemporary practice of urban recreation. The place and importance of the value of waterfront territories in complex nature-based solution for the future urban growth have yet to be understood and realized. Now the city is regarded as an open system and, at the same time, the array of its waterfront territories in contemporary urban planning is in the focus of developers. The trends and tendencies of architectural & landscape organization of the urban territories near water are revealed on the analysis of international project practice. This waterfront zones are shown as the most dynamic and claimed objects of planning practice, especially in dialogue with water, where the study of the relation: “the natural qualities of water – the naturally built environment - the psycho-emotional conditions of human beings” are passed over.

    Technologia AR pozwala na zestawianie dynamicznych modeli 3D z realnym kontekstem fizycznym. Technologia jest realnie dostępna dla szerszego ogółu od 2015 roku, a zatem stanowi nową, ale dynamicznie rozwijającą się dziedzinę o istotnym, w opinii autorów, potencjale dla wszystkich uczestników procesu budowlanego. W artykule przybliżono główne zasady funkcjonowania technologii oraz omówiono wykorzystywane w niej narzędzia. Przeanalizowano również trzy główne metody generowania modeli 3D z omówieniem ich potencjału dla ewaluacji koncepcji architektonicznej w odniesieniu do kontekstu urbanistycznego.
    AR technology makes it possible to compare dynamic 3D models with a real-world physical context. The technology has been readily accessible to the wider public since 2015, thus constituting a new and dynamically developing field with significant-in the authors’ opinion-potential for all participants of the construction process. The article familiarises readers with the main principles of the technology’s operation and discusses the tools that it employs. Three main methods of generating 3D models were analysed and their potential for evaluating architectural conceptual proposals in reference to urban context was discussed.

Z wirtualnym projektem można powiązać parametry klimatyczne dla konkretnej lokalizacji geograficznej, a z drugiej strony parametry użytkowe dla poszczególnych pomieszczeń. • SMART BUILDING – w całym sektorze budownictwa radykalnie zwiększane są wymagania związane z energooszczędnością. W najbliższych latach ma to doprowadzić do osiągnięcia standardu tzw. „budynków nieomal zero-energetycznych”. Budynki o tak wysokiej efektywności energetycznej będą musiały być wyposażone w cały szereg innowacyjnych rozwiązań architektoniczno-budowlano-instalacyjnych, które znacznie się różnią od dotychczas stosowanych rozwiązań typowych.
    The current, widely used traditional standards of architectural and construction design should be radically modified and adapted to modern needs. • SMART PROJECT – There is currently an information technology-based revolution happening in the modern architectural toolset, associated with introducing new BIM-standard digital design support tools into common use. These tools make it possible to create a virtual model of a building, linked to an immense database that parameterises all the implemented construction materials, technologies and building services of a building. The virtual design can be linked to climate parameters of a specific geographic location on the one hand, as well as occupancy parameters for each room on the other. • SMART BUILDING – Energy efficiency requirements are radically increasing across the entire construction sector. This is meant to lead to achieving the „near-zero energy building” standard in the next few years. Buildings that feature such a high energy effectiveness will have to include an entire array of innovative architectural, structural and building services solutions that significantly differ from the typical ones in use today.

    Opis:
    Cytochrome b is the central catalytic subunit of the quinol:cytochrome c oxidoreductase of complex III of the mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation system and is essential to the viability of most eukaryotic cells. Partial cytochrome b gene sequences of 14 species representing mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians are presented here including some species typical for Poland. For the analysed species a comparative analysis of the natural variation in the gene was performed. This information has been used to discuss some aspects of gene sequence - protein function relationships. Review of relevant literature indicates that similar comparisons have been made only for basic mammalian species. Moreover, there is little information about the Polish-specific species. We observed that there is a strong non-random distribution of nucleotides in the cytochrome b sequence in all tested species with the highest differences at the third codon position. This is also the codon position of the strongest compositional bias. Some tested species, representing distant systematic groups, showed unique base composition differing from the others. The quail, frog, python and elk prefer C over A in the light DNA strand. Species belonging to the artiodactyls stand out from the remaining ones and contain fewer pyrimidines. The observed overall rate of amino acid identity is about 61%. The region covering Qo center as well as histidines 82 and 96 (heme ligands) are totally conserved in all tested species. Additionally, the applied method and the sequences can also be used for diagnostic species identification by veterinary and conservation agencies.

    At the end of May 1840 Robert Schumann composed 20 songs from Heine’s Lyrisches Intermezzo under the title 20 Lieder und Gesänge aus dem Lyrischen Intermezzo. The series was published in 1844, containing only 16 songs and was entitled as Dichterliebe. The four omitted songs were also published later on – but what was the reason for omitting them? We can perhaps never come to know that, though we are able to find possible answers, revising the cycle of the poems and the music itself. The “evidences” could be the following: – The selection: reduce the 1+ 65 poems to 20 (and at last 16) songs. – The attenuation of the “death atmosphere”. – The concentration of the “dream poems” to the end of the cycle. – The diminution of the power of “chivalric love”. – And finally: improving the tonal structure. Schumann could really take into consideration this important structural aspect in the last stage of his work: the well-known Dichterliebe might have been realized in this way.
