Opis:
The assessment of renewable fuels on the basis of the results of internal combustion engine’s tests is not clearly good or not good. Biofuels can be a part of sustainability from energy sources, energy security and energy diversity point of view. But they cannot be assessed better compared to the fossil diesel as for their combustion and air pollution and the engine’s external parameters. Comparison test series has been conducted with three different fuel and their controlled blends. These fuels were fossil diesel, the conventional, standardized biodiesel, and a new type biodiesel, which is the so-called TBK-biodiesel. These tests covered the physicochemical properties of the fuels, the engine external parameters, the combustion parameters and the exhaust emission of an internal combustion compression ignition engine. Furthermore, external costs have been calculated based on the emission results. Physicochemical properties, engine parameters, combustion parameters, exhaust emission and external costs have been observed as parameter groups, which contain many parameters. A complex evaluation could be built with the help of such kind of parameter set. On the basis of the results, it can be established that almost in the most cases the direction of the parameters’ changes is negative. Thus, the evaluation’s centre of gravity has been observed as shifted in the negative direction.

Opis:
The purpose of this article is to introduce a new analytical framework dedicated to measuring performance of recommender systems. A standard approach is to assess the quality of a system by means of accuracy related statistics. However, the specificity of the environments in which recommender systems are deployed requires paying much attention to speed and memory requirements of the algorithms. Unfortunately, it is implausible to assess accurately the complexity of various algorithms with formal tools. This can be attributed to the fact that such analyses are usually based on an assumption of dense representation of underlying data structures. In real life, though, the algorithms operate on sparse data and are implemented with collections dedicated for them. Therefore, we propose to measure the complexity of recommender systems with artificial datasets that posses real-life properties. We utilize a recently developed bipartite graph generator to evaluate how the state-of-art recommender system behavior is determined and diversified by topological properties of the generated datasets.

Opis:
Motivated by the integrated complexity of real-time intelligent control and optimization of industrial/manufacturing processes, this paper discusses hybrid modelling and asymptotic periodic behavior of a class of switched discrete event systems, and shows how to evaluate the asymptotic performance/efficiency of such systems. We prove that, under some mild conditions, the switched discrete event system will achieve asymptotic periodic dynamics, and its performance/efficiency can be evaluated by calculating the eigenvalue of certain matrix in max-plus algebra. Illustrative examples are provided.
