Opis:
Building a strong economy depends on numerous factors: technological, political, geographical but also and above all social ones. Currently, the ongoing fourth industrial revolution is primarily based on digitization of all processes in the conducted activities. The acquisition and processing of vast amount of data generates information which is very complex and not always unambiguous. Industry 4.0 also assumes that employees will understand both technical needs and those not related to the production process. This means that the present education system (definitely the one related to technical science) should also be changed so that engineers acquire more managerial skills. The article presents the educational assumptions in the face of challenges posed by Industry 4.0 in the context of the current opportunities of the labor market and education in Poland and in Europe.

Opis:
The profile of the Polish foundry engineer in the Industry 4.0 age is presented in the present paper. The presented results were obtained by means of three research methods consisting of: analyses of professional expertise documents, questionnaires filled-up by the executive staff of foundry enterprises and analyses of work offers for the foundry engineer position. The investigations indicated the key competences of the foundry engineer, demanded currently by employers and meeting the requirements of the Polish foundry sector. The obtained results were discussed in relation to the fourth industrial revolution and its requirements with regard to the engineering staff. This concept is based on information technology and robotizing, which means the total automation of industrial production processes as well as the widespread access to data and machines. Such an approach requires changes in applied machines, technologies and employees’ competencies. The competences of employees constitute the element deciding on the company success, aimed at obtaining a competitive advantage. Therefore adjusting the employees’ competencies to continuously changing reality is so essential.

The aim of the article is to attempt to address the question whether the competences of people working in a traditional economy, based mainly on contract work (waged work), differ from those required in the economy 4.0, based on short-term contracts. The analysis shows, firstly, that professional activity undertaken in this new environment requires competences and skills that differ dramatically from those necessary in the traditional labor market. Secondly, it points out that there is need to change the approach to educating cadres to the economy 4.0. At the end of the study a table is presented, summarizing the characteristics of work and competencies required in both the traditional economy and the economy 4.0.

Opis:
Purpose: The aim of the paper was the identification of 4.0 competences that should be characterized by logistics workers in the era of the fourth industrial revolution. Design/methodology/approach: First step was the desk research analysis of source material (monographic studies, publications and reports). The second step were primary (fragmentary) explanatory, descriptive and explanatory, focused on the implementation of one research goal. The method used in the course of the study was the "user-centric" CAWI (Computer Assisted Web Interview). Findings: Technologization and robotization require from employees to acquire new digital competences. Studies show that logistics workers are aware of the needed change. There is a need to acquire competences 4.0 which can consist of cognitive, informative and technical competences. Research limitations/implications: The main limitation of the research was the availability of employees in logistics companies and the precise division of enterprises in which the respondents were employed. In the available statistical summaries and address databases, there is no division taking into account the place of logistics as an element of business activities in enterprises. Practical implications: Research can be also a signpost for employers of what kind of competences should be developed in the future in the face of upcoming economy 5.0 and society 5.0. Originality/value: The article can be a road-map for sustainable digital transformation taking into account not only machines but also human beings.
