Opis:: Prediction of soft soil sub-grades settlement has been a big challenge for geotechnical engineers that are responsible for the design of roadbed embankment. The characteristics of low strength, poor permeability, high water contents, and high compressibility are dominant in soft soils, which result in a huge settlement in the case of long-term loading. The settlement prediction in soft soil subgrades of Jiehui Expressway A1, Guangdong, China, is the focus of this study. For this purpose, the necessary data of settlement is collected throughout the project execution. The numerical analysis is conducted by using the Richards model based on Linear Least Squares Iteration (LLS-I) method to calculate and predict the expected settlement. The traditional settlement prediction methods, including the hyperbolic method, exponential curve method, and pearl curve method, are applied on field settlement data of soft soil subgrades of Jiehui Expressway A1. The results show that the Richards model based on Linear Least Squares Iteration (LLS-I) method has high precision, and it has proven to be a better option for settlement prediction of soft soil sub-grades. The model analysis indicates that the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) can be minimized as compared to other soft soil sub-grades settlement prediction methods. Hence, Richards's model-based LLS-I method has a capability for simulation and settlement prediction of soft soil subgrades.

Opis:: The paper is devoted to the specificities of the acquisition of L2 Polish by speakers of a closely related language (East Slavic one), with specific regard to the language-teaching consequences of said proximity. After an introduction to the current historical and sociolinguistic context of the East Slavic immigration to Poland, the data presents the concept of “intercomprehension”. Its impact on the acquisition of L2 Polish is illustrated by the use of empirical data collected by the author’s research team. The article is concluded by means of a reflection on the value of multilingualism in the school system and the skills required of Polish teachers in the present historical contingencies. It is argued in particular that due to the great number of Ukrainian pupils enrolled in the Polish schools, it is advisable for Polish school teachers to have at least some knowledge of the native languages of these pupils, with the primary goal of improving communication in stressful situations and adequately interpret and correct their errors in L2 Polish.

W artykule zostały zaprezentowane błędy analogiczne w języku polskim i białoruskim, czyli błędy dotyczące analogicznych kwestii językowych, które sprawiają trudność Białorusinom uczącym się języka polskiego oraz Polakom chcącym opanować język białoruski. The article examines the problem of errors typical of both Belarusian and Polish from the point of view of comparative didactics of foreign language teaching. The article presents the idea of the so-called analogy errors in both Belarusian and Polish, which may be further defined as errors pertaining to similar language aspects and which may be problematic for both Belarusians learning Polish and Poles learning Belarusian. A list of potential areas of related research has been proposed as well, including a comparative analysis of both training and teaching practice of teachers of Belarusian and Polish.

Opis:: The range of the real freedom of contracts in private law was both a growth factor of societies as well as a measure of the extent of their internal changes. The practice worked out by the Roman lawyers, though limited formally by contract nominalism, became the basis of modern-day solutions. In spite of a simultaneous reconstruction of the social and economic systems which may be summed up after H. Maine as a development from status to contract – the principles of the freedom of contract together with their fundamental limitations, had remained valid. In this context, one may mention the laws which protect the rights of economically weaker subjects, such as the ban on the loss of the pledged asset (lex commissoria), the permissible relation of the price to the value during sale transactions (laesio enormis), maximum prices on basic goods (edictum Diocletanii de pretiis rerum venalium). A special but continually valid issue which is analyzed, among others by Cicero, is that of mutual honesty of vendors and purchasers: to what extent can they make use of the information which is unknown to the other party; at what point we can say that they have overstepped the boundary-line of stratagem. As regards the latter issue, there is no uniformity of opinion in different legal systems; it seems that it is the principle of maximum facilitation of trade that takes the upper hand and is not unknown to the Roman law. The author of the article also analyzes the beginnings of actio de dolo and the different contemporary court experience. In conclusion, the author poses an open question concerning the future of contract law in view of the too far advanced freedom of contracts
