The aim of the study was to investigate the association between marital satisfaction and theperception of partner’s communication style. It was hypothesized, on the basis of literature,that the perception of the partner’s communication behaviours; such as supportive,engaged, and depreciated, is related to marital satisfaction. The study design comprisedof a correlational study in which participants were asked to fill in the questionnaires. The results indicated a significant correlation between marital satisfaction and the perception of partner communication style as supportive, engaged, and depreciated. The higher levelof marital satisfaction was found in the married adults who perceived their partner’scommunication style as highly supportive and engaged, but the least depreciated. The results confirmed the importance of communication between partners for their perceived satisfaction with the relationship.

O umiejętności komunikowania coraz częściej wspomina się w literaturze pedagogicznej. We współczesnej szkole od nauczyciela oczekuje się nie tylko umiejętności przekazywania wiedzy, ale też wspierania i doradzania uczniowi w poszukiwaniu najlepszych rozwiązań; oczekuje się także tego, aby był elastyczny i gotowy do pobudzania inicjatywy ucznia, oraz by kształtował jego samodzielność i kreatywność. Wielu naukowców nie od dziś zastanawia się nad tym, co tak naprawdę ma największy wpływ na wyniki osiągane przez uczniów w procesie nauczania oraz jakimi cechami i umiejętnościami powinien charakteryzować się nauczyciel, aby jak najlepiej wykonywał swoją pracę. W związku z powyższym w przeprowadzonych badaniach próbowano ustalić, czy i w jakim stopniu sposób komunikacji nauczyciela wpływa na ocenę jakości relacji uczeń–nauczyciel, na lęk odczuwany przez ucznia w relacji z nauczycielem oraz czy sposób prowadzonej przez nauczyciela komunikacji wpływa na ocenę własnych kompetencji uczniów. Badaniem objęto 144 uczniów klas 6–8. Uzyskane wyniki pozwalają stwierdzić, że podjęty przez nauczyciela trud stosowania niedyrektywnych sposobów komunikowania się niesie za sobą ogromny potencjał, który ma szansę zaprocentować zarówno w szeroko pojętym rozwoju indywidualnym ucznia, jak i pozytywnym zacieśnianiu więzi i rozwoju społecznych kompetencji wewnątrz struktury, którą tworzy zespół klasowy.
Communication skills are mentioned in pedagogical literature more and more often. In the contemporary school, the teacher is expected not only to transfer knowledge, but also to support and advise the student in finding the best solutions; they are also expected to be flexible and ready to stimulate the student’s initiative and to shape their independence and creativity. Many scientists have been thinking for a long time about what it is that has the greatest impact on the results achieved by students in the teaching process, and what characteristics and skills should the teacher have to make them do their best work. In connection with the above, the study attempted to deter¬mine whether or not (and to what extent) the teacher’s communication affects the assessment of the quality of student-teacher relations, the anxiety felt by the student in the relationship with the teacher, and whether the manner of communication conducted by the teacher affects the assessment of students’ own competences.The study involved 144 students in grades 6-8. The obtained results show that the teacher’s effort to use nondirective ways of communication has enormous potential and can pay off in both the broadly understood individual development of the student and in the strengthening of bonds and development of social competences within the structure formed by the class team.

Discussions on the Internet show the changes of traditional conception of language styles. Even though the texts are undoubtedly written down they are spontaneous and colloquial Czech is primarily used there. High occurrence of spoken colloquial language can be understood as an attempt to establish a contact with other discussion participants.The dichotomy of speech and writing is disappearing. Slight differences between written and spoken texts are not observed only in everyday communication style of the Internet discussions and that is why traditional distinguishing of speech and writing is not always possible.

Artykuł ma charakter teoretyczno-analityczny. Jego celem jest przedstawienie komunikacji w rodzinie ujmowanej jako system, w skład którego wchodzi podsystem małżeński, rodzicielski oraz między rodzeństwem. Analizę komunikacji w danym podsystemie zilustrowano badaniami empirycznymi. Przedstawiono także modele, style i bariery komunikacji w rodzinie, wskazując na model dwustronny, styl partnerski jako najkorzystniejsze w komunikacji wewnątrzrodzinnej.
The submitted paper is of hypothetical and analytical nature. Its declared goal was to present communication within a family, the latter one understood as a complex system consisting of various subsystems, as there are: the matrimonial subsystem stricto sensu, the parentchildren interactions and the interaction among siblings. The communication analyses within the respective subsystems are illustrated by empirical investigation. The paper discusses different models, styles and barriers of interfamily communication. As predictable, the reciprocal approach based on partnership proved the most advantageous model of interfamily communication.

Mimo wielu lat upływających od czasu opublikowania OSHA, dokumentu opisującego warunki zachowania bezpieczeństwa i zdrowia w pracy, „bez wątpienia wielu menedżerów wciąż nie ma pojęcia, że ich styl komunikacji charakteryzujący się mówieniem podnie‑ sionym głosem, wrzeszczeniem czy przeklinaniem pracowników jest formą przemocy w miejscu pracy i może być wstępem do rozwoju innych form przemocy” (Shane‑Joyce, Bell, 2010, s. 39). W związku z tym nadal ważne wydaje się upowszechnianie wyników badań naukowych wskazujących zachowania menedżerskie skuteczne z punktu widzenia strategii rozwoju osobistego i organizacyjnego pracowników. W artykule zanalizowano długofalowe skutki agresji werbalnej w kontekście efektywności organizacyjnej w skali mikro i makro, a także przedstawiono zachowania komunikacyjne skuteczne z punktu widzenia zarządzania ludźmi w organizacji.
Although many years have passed since the publication of the OSHA, the document describing the conditions of safety and health at work, “undoubtedly, many managers do not even know that their communication style, whether it is yelling, shouting, or cursing at employees is a form of workplace violence and could be precursors to violence” (Shane‑Joyce, Bell, 2010, p. 39). Therefore, it seems important to constantly disseminate the results of research and to bring recommendations to resolve the dilemmas regarding effective managerial behavior and personal and organizational development of employees and team leaders. The authors of the article analyze the long‑term effects of verbal aggression in the context of the organizational effectiveness at the micro‑ and macro‑scale, as well as point out the effective communication strategies in terms of managing people.

The objective of the article is to study the peculiarities of students’ perception of teaching style and to determine the correlation between such perception and motivation of students’ learning. The group of respondents included 254 future social and 156 technical specialists (a total of 410 students), methods of research were questioning and testing; Pearson correlation coefficient was used for statistical analysis. Students perceived the democratic teaching style as the most positive, and its use is associated with educational and cognitive motives. Authoritarian and laissez faire styles are seen as undesirable. The first is related to the motives of avoidance, and the second has feedback from professional motives of students. Comparison of the results of the survey of future social and technical specialists allowed us to determine that the latter perceive the authoritarian style more positively than students of social specializations.

Communication is a phenomenon of the universal nature. Its omnipresence contributes to the development of various form and phenomena of social life. The following article attempts to discuss the unique character of educational communicative experiences between learners and teachers in schools from the perspective of the surveyed people, i.e. the 1st year students of pedagogy.
Komunikacja jest zjawiskiem o charakterze uniwersalnym, a jej wszechobecność jest przyczynkiem do kształtowania się rozmaitych form i zjawisk życia społecznego. Niniejszy tekst jest próbą przyjrzenia się specyfice szkolnych doświadczeń komunikacyjnych uczniów z nauczycielami z perspektywy szkolnych doświadczeń komunikacyjnych badanych osób – studentów kierunków pedagogicznych.

The article presents the research results about the influence of the colloquial lexis used in a column’s language on the image of the author of the text, as well as describing the mechanism of this influence. The material was collected during empirical research, when respondents pointed to traits of the column’s author after reading his/her text, and subsequently wrote the text fragments which in their opinion represented the indicated attributes. The exploratory discourse analysis of this corpus made it possible to identify words or sentences indicating the communication of traits like “humorous”, “ironic”, “interesting writer” through the use of colloquial lexis. This article is the analysis of the communicative mechanism of constructing these attributes.

The paper analyzes a notion of style developed by S. Gajda as a humanistic structure of a text. The characteristics of a scientist’s notion with presumably wide (for stylistics) subject area – implementation of personal author and social cultural manifestations of text activity in different versions of comprehensive organisation of a verbal product – and stylistics categories with huge potential for synthesis are given. The sources of a style as a higher organizational body for a text in the works of the representatives of aesthetic realism school, Russian and Czech scientists are looked at. The fruitfulness of the introduction of human activity understandings into the integrated research of style is justified.

The aim of this paper is to raise the questions of style and communication as universal notions and as culture specific phenomena. Different definitions of style are given and the perspectives of two main cultural views dealing with this subject are shown. The points of view of representative of Polish scholars is compared with the focus on linguistic perception of style in Mandarin Chinese. The presentation of the most important essentials of the Professor's Gajda individual style has been chosen as he has been studying various aspects of style for over forty years and he uses concepts typical for Slavic and European scholars. A predominance of analyses of actual texts is based on a comparison of his own text on academic style. It also contains selected most characteristic elements from his other texts and a comparison of his early comments on style and stylistics and the latest definitions thereof. The understanding of style as a concept connected with the Western philosophical, aesthetic and linguistic tradition is compared with the Eastern i.e. – Chinese views on this phenomenon to track differences and similarities showing the universal character of some concepts connected with human language and cognition.

This article shows how mental activity is reflected in the intentional style and specific communication scripts. This analysis shows the cognitive mechanisms and possibilities of the language. The article presents excerpts from Polish-language court records made from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century in Upper Silesia. Emerging from these books is an image of life in small communities as seen through the lens of financial transactions, inheritance processes, financial claims within families, cases of disorderly behaviourand violations of social order. The quoted fragments show how the society and the officials representing it managed establishing legal rules for the community and how legal texts were constructed. Although they reflect the schematic manner typical of official regulations, many of the phrases they include allow us to recreate the method used for the construction of the text or even their author’s thought process (writing it or commissioning its writing to a qualified official). These texts provide an opportunity to reconstruct the system of values that served as a basis for the functioning of a given community and the internal hierarchy that guaranteed social order.

The author analyses similarities and differences in organizational behaviours in three aspects:1) management style – in both cultures respondents pointed out hierarchical style as dominating, but in the case of Poland in a lesser degree than in the case of Ukraine.2) team work – in both cultures collectivistic approach in team- work is predominating, thus co-workers help each other and appre- ciate good atmosphere (harmony).3) communication style – people in both cultures communicate emotionally, however Poles express their more through higher and emotional voice, whereas Ukrainians express their feelings also via body language.Commonly Polish and Ukrainian cultures are regarded as very close as both countries have the same religious, cultural and ethnic roots. Ukrainians and Poles manifest a number of the same organiza- tional behaviours, according to the GLOBE (Global Leadership and Organizational Behaviour Effectiveness) study – Polish and Ukrainian cultures belong to the same cultural cluster – Eastern Europe (which constitutes one of ten distinguished clusters) and are different from oth- er clusters, but still there are differences between both cultures which matter in inter – cultural management. Crucially, one cluster contains several countries and they differ from each other in a subtler manner.
W artykule przedstawione zostały wyniki badania kultury zarządza- nia w Polsce i na Ukrainie przeprowadzonego przez autorkę w 2016 r. Jest to pierwsze badanie w Polsce i na Ukrainie dotyczące porówna- nia kultur zarządzania obu państw. Wyniki badania trzech aspek- tów kultury organizacyjnej: 1. stylu zarządzania, 2. pracy zespołowej,3. stylu komunikowania się wykazały istnienie różnic pomiędzy Pol- ską i Ukrainą – szczególnie w stylu zarządzania; potwierdziły rów- nież wiele podobieństw we wzorcach zachowań i myślenia Polaków i Ukraińców. Zastosowano następującą metodologię badań – były to badania ilościowe, wybór jednokrotny odpowiedzi. W koncepcji ba- dania odniesiono się do koncepcji kwestionariuszy badań między- kulturowych w danym wymiarze np. w wymiarze uniwersalizm do partykularyzmu do kwestionariusza badania Fonsa Trompenaarsa. Kwestionariusz badania jest w pełni autorski. Wyniki badania autor- ka odniosła do orientacji kulturowych takich jak: indywidualizm i ko- lektywizm, uniwersalizm i partykularyzm, wysoki i niski dystans wła- dzy, stosunek do czasu oraz do kultury wycinkowej i całościowej jak również neutralnej i ekspresyjnej, dyskutując ich poziom zgodności ze światowymi badaniami. Badanie posiada dwa aspekty – teoretyczny i praktyczny. Po pierwsze stanowi wkład w badania międzykulturowe w zakresie zachowań organizacyjnych, po drugie wskazuje na podo- bieństwa i różnice w zachowaniach i praktykach organizacyjnych po- między Polską a Ukrainą.

Postgraduate education in Ukraine is a specialized improvement of education and professional training of a person through deepening, expansion and renovation his professional knowledge, skills and abilities or getting another specialty based on previously acquired educational qualification and practical experience. Postgraduate education is carried out by higher educational establishment or by structural subdivisions of higher educational establishment with appropriate accreditation level in the form of training programs or internship. This article devoted to the formal expansion of skills within the resulting profile or retraining. Formation and polishing of the person’s individual style of business communication occurs throughout adult life. Language communicative competence is complex education system, which requires constant improvement. Speaking more than one language involves the formation of a foreign language communicative competence. This problem requires a review of government and universities policy on planning and forming of language communicative competence among students of advanced training courses.

The aim of this study was to determine the functioning of mothers in terms of communication and styles of education, including family structure, gender and age of the adolescent. Hypotheses were based on the assumption that if a mother is the most important person in the family, then there will be no differences between single mother and the mother from complete family in the assessment of communication and styles of education in adolescents’s opinion. It was assumed that the assessment of the quality of the relationship will be affected by gender and age of adolescents. There were studied 148 adolescents with complete families and 237 who raised by single mothers, using a Parent Adolescent Communication Scale (PACS) and a Survey of Upbringing Style. Analysis of variance revealed that communication with the mother is satisfying, regardless of family structure, which strongly differentiate the democratic parenting style, and gender-style liberal. There were seen a significant interaction between gender and age of adolescent, conditioning the open communication and interaction with the mother adolescent age and family structure substantially influences on the liberal loving style.

Zagadnienie stylistycznego ukształtowania komunikatów prasowych autorka ujmuje w trzech perspektywach, nawiązując do koncepcji stylów funkcjonalnych, komunikacji oraz dyskursu. We wszystkich tych płaszczyznach jest ponadto obecna problematyka genologicznego zróżnicowania wypowiedzi. Styl komunikatów prasowych autorka postrzega jako kategorię polimorficzną, pojemną i otwartą. Oznacza to możliwość rozpatrywania stylu na różnych poziomach konkretyzacji: najbardziej abstrakcyjnie (poziom komunikacyjny i/lub dyskursywny), mniej abstrakcyjnie (poziom gatunkowy) oraz konkretnie (poziom wypowiedzi). Dzięki temu gęstnieje siatka cech stylistycznych (często synkretycznych) i konkretyzują się wykładniki. Styl jest zaś rozpatrywany deskrypcyjnie – nie dyferencjalnie.
This chapter presents the problem of the stylistic form of press releases referring to the concepts of functional styles, communication and discourse. All these perspectives also refer to diversity of expression in terms of genre. The style of press releases is seen as a polymorphic, capacious and open category. This means the possibility of examining the style at different levels of concretization, including the most abstract manner (the level of communication and /or discourse), less abstract tone (the level of genres) and specific way (the level of expression). Due to this approach the grid of stylistic features thickens and the exponents are mapped.

Komunikacja niewerbalna jest nieodłącznym komponentem bezpośredniej ustnej komunikacji werbalnej. Niewerbalne środki komunikacyjne, konstytuujące – poprzez wysoką częstotliwość i konsekwencję ich stosowania – style komunikacyjne kulturowo uwarunkowane, są zjawiskiem, którego nie sposób pominąć również w przekładzie. Przekład, w szczególności audiowizualny i ustny, służy poznawaniu niewerbalnych stylów, m.in. w zakresie kinezyki, chronemiki, proksemiki, pantomimiki, haptyki z innych obszarów kulturowych. Oprócz funkcji poznawczej niewerbalne style komunikacyjne pełnią funkcję wspomagającą proces tłumaczenia (np. ustnego). Ułatwiają proces zrozumienia tekstu, a następnie jego tłumaczenia. Świadomość istnienia niewerbalnych stylów komunikacyjnych oraz umiejętność ich interpretacji gwarantuje pełne zrozumienie przekazywanych treści. Niekiedy niewerbalne środki komunikacyjne pomagają zweryfikować jakość przekazu werbalnego.
Nonverbal communication accompanies direct oral verbal communication. The means of nonverbal communication, constituting culturally determined communication styles are a phenomenon which cannot be overlooked in translation. Translation, in particular audiovisual and interpretation, helps to become familiar with nonverbal styles, inter alia relating to kinesics, chronemics, proxemics, pantomimics, haptics from other spaces of culture. Apart from a cognitive function, nonverbal communication styles also serve an auxiliary function in the translation process (e.g. oral translation). Sometimes nonverbal communication styles help to verify the quality of translated verbal communication.

Pozytywne relacje nauczyciela z uczniami wymagają nie tylko profesjonalnej wiedzy z zakresu zasad i reguł komunikacji interpersonalnej, ale umiejętności wykorzystywania ich w praktyce dydaktycznej. W artykule przedstawiono teoretyczne podstawy relacji pomiędzy nauczycielem a uczniem. Zwrócono uwagę na psychologiczne uwarunkowania, będące gwarantem skutecznej formy porozumienia i kształtowania pozytywnych relacji nauczyciela z uczniami w zespole klasowym. Zasygnalizowano różnice pomiędzy poszczególnymi modelami komunikowania się, jak również wskazano czynniki będące nieodzownym elementem pozytywnych relacji nauczyciela z uczniem. Omówiono blokady i bariery skutecznie utrudniające nie tylko kształtowanie pozytywnych relacji, ale decydujące o kształtowaniu tożsamości uczniów. Zwrócono uwagę na jakość relacji nauczyciela z uczniami w kontekście jego indywidualnych stylów komunikacyjnych.
Positive relationships of a teacher with students require not only professional knowledge of the rules and principles of interpersonal communication but also the ability to apply them in didactic practice. The article presents the theoretical foundations of the relationship between the teacher and the student. Attention was paid to the psychological determinants that guarantee the effective form of communication and the formation of positive relationships between the teacher and students in the classroom. The differences between various communication models have been signaled as well as the factors that are indispensable for the positive relationship between the teacher and the student. Blockades and barriers have been discussed, effectively hindering not only the development of positive relationships but deciding on shaping students’ identities. Attention has been drawn to the relationship of behaviour in relation to its participant in the context of individual communication styles.

Starting with the definition of style by K.A. Dolinin, the article proposes to reflect on the perspectives of an interdisciplinary approach to stylistic research, using primarily the achievements of psychology and philosophy, as the style of a literary work is the result of the subject’s choices, which in turn result from his/her individual way of thinking. The interdisciplinary approach will also allow for more effective aesthetic assessment of the work. The article analyses three literary texts based on memories: The childhood years of Bagrov-grandson, serving as a continuation of the Family Chronicle by S.T. Aksakov, The Life of Arsenyev by I.A. Bunin and Be Like Children by V.A. Sharov. On the example of language constructions forming the concept of MEMORY, the researcher shows the factors that influence the choice of language means that ultimately create the individual style of the author. The study proves that this choice is influenced by non-linguistic factors: the situational context, era, the author’s professional and personal experience and education, philosophicaland aesthetic ideas, and other important circumstances that guide the artist’s thinking. Genre rules and current tastes are also of importance. The study shows that the ratio of the number of language constructions regarding experience memory and information memory can characterize the individual style of a given author. It also proves that a broader interdisciplinary view of style allows to see more determinants of the aesthetic value of a work. Among them are: the harmonious structure of the text including its spatial and temporal organization, and the compliance with the broadly understood norm that involves not only the linguistic but also the mental layer of the text, as expressed by appropriately selected means.

Today, over 1/3 of all marriages entered into each year end in divorce. Children struggle with a whole spectrum of negative influences as a result. The purpose of this study was to investigate the negative aspects of divorce and its effect on the functioning of children of divorced parents in their adult lives. The study considered the effects of divorce on intimate relationships; particular attention is paid to the influence of parental divorce on the communication and attachment styles of the intimate relationships of adults whose parents are divorced. Having studied the cases of 101 people (50 people from an active research group and 51 from a control group) using the “Marital and Partner Communication Questionnaire” and the “Attachment Styles Questionnaire”, one can conclude that people from the active research group more often perform actions that devalue their partners. They are less likely to show commitment and support in relationships in comparison to the control group. Furthermore, adult children of divorce score higher results on the scale of avoidant and anxious-resistant attachment styles than the control group.
W obecnych czasach liczba rozwodów stanowi ponad 1/3 liczby małżeństw zawartych w danym roku. Wiele małżeństw, a także ich dzieci, boryka się z całym szeregiem negatywnych aspektów tego zjawiska. Prezentowane badania miały na celu eksplorację zależności między rozwodem rodziców a komunikacją i stylami przywiązania w związkach intymnych dorosłych dzieci rozwiedzionych rodziców. Po przebadaniu 101 osób, w tym 50 z grupy badawczej i 51 z grupy kontrolnej, analiza przy użyciu Kwestionariusza Komunikacji Małżeńskiej i Partnerskiej oraz Kwestionariusza Stylów Przywiązaniowych wykazała, że w istocie osoby z grupy badawczej częściej przejawiają zachowania deprecjonujące partnera, rzadziej zaś zachowania świadczące o zaangażowaniu i wsparciu niż osoby z grupy kontrolnej. Dodatkowo dorosłe dzieci rozwiedzionych rodziców częściej niż osoby pochodzące z rodzin niedotkniętych rozwodem charakteryzował unikowy i lękowo-ambiwalentny styl przywiązania.

Traktując teksty jako celowe wypowiedzi konkretnych osób realizowane w stopniu odzwierciedlającym poziom ich sprawności komunikacyjnych, bada kompetencje nadawców w zakresie ich sprawności systemowej, społecznej, sytuacyjnej i pragmatycznej.
The author analyses the arrangement, the style and the language in 16 papers approved for print in a Polish professional museum journal. She views them in the communication context i.e. from the point of view of the needs and goals of scientific information exchange among scholars from various areas of the humanities. The author uses the definition of communication skills coined by Stanisław Grabias. By approaching the texts as intentional expressions of specific individuals reflecting their communication skills, the author examines the writers’ systematic, social, situational and pragmatic linguistic proficiency.
