Communication platform systems as, e.g., advanced telecommunication computing architecture (ATCA) standard blades located in standardized chassis, provides high level communication services between system peripherals. Each ATCA blade brings dedicated functionality to the system but can as well exist as separated host responsible for servicing set of task. According to platform philosophy these parts of system can be quite independent against another solutions provided by competitors. Each system design can be different and can face with many computer systems design problems. One of the most difficult design problems to solve is system integration with a set of components running on different operating system levels. This paper presents Linux scheduler improvement possibility to make user space application classified as time demanding (required to be serviced by CPU in given amount of time) running in user space together with complicated kernel software structure in the system.

W artykule przedstawiono sposób realizacji lokalnego mechanizmu komunikacji w generycznej platformie programowej realizującej wymianę danych, przystosowanej do pracy w rozproszonych systemach sterowania. W pracy omówiono strukturę warstw oprogramowania odpowiedzialną za transport pakietów wewnątrz pojedynczej instancji platformy. Zaprezentowano przykładowe scenariusze użycia mechanizmów komunikacji lokalnej.
The article shows the way of implementation of a local exchange information mechanism in generic software platform for data exchange, adapted for use in distributed control systems. The paper shows software layers structure responsible for packages transport in scope of single platform instance. Exemplary usage scenarios for local communication mechanisms have been described.

The paper presents the concept of generic exchange data platform dedicated to distributed control systems. The platform can be used to control industrial facilities, to synchronize the work of industrial and mobile robots. The solution can also be applied to active prostheses. The article presents an example of information exchange subsystem structure as well as data flow between platform applications.
Artykuł przedstawia koncepcje generycznej platformy wymiany danych dedykowanej dla rozproszonych systemów sterowania. Platforma może zostać wykorzystana do sterowania obiektami przemysłowymi a także do synchronizacji pracy przemysłowych oraz mobilnych robotów. Rozwiązanie może być również zastosowane w aktywnych protezach. Artykuł prezentuje strukturę podsystemu wymiany danych oraz opisuje przepływ informacji pomiędzy aplikacjami bazującymi na oprogramowaniu platformy.

Science, including the research achievements and the activities of research and development units are regarded from the point of view of marketing categories. Commercialization has led to a situation in which it is necessary to provide information and promote your products. The situation forces scientific institutions and their employees to introduce permanent changes to their relations with the recipients. The above changes refer to forms of informing about, advertising activities and achievements, as well as to the language of messages aimed at various groups of recipients. Contemporary media give many opportunities to reach the recipients interested in a particular issue. The system of communicating with them has been improved. National Research Institute of Animal Production is improving its website, which is an important source of information. This concerns both the current activity of the institute, including trainings, workshops, seminars etc. and scientific publications. However, the biggest task taken up by the Institute is the creation of an ICT platform for the exchange of knowledge about the quality and safety of animal production. Producers of farm animals, breeders, producers of fodder and scientific institutions cooperating with the National Research Institute of Animal Production are and in the future will be able to take advantase of the results of the project.

Opis:
This paper describes a new method for measuring and appraising the quality of the video stream in the video-telephony service in IP environments (VToIP). The method uses the so-called VS Model and belongs to the group of parameter-based measurement techniques (offline operation, i.e. without active measurement). It delivers results that come extremely close to those contained in the corresponding Perceptual Evaluation of Video Quality (PEVQ) curves. The method is quick and easy to use - a convincing argument for using this new QoS measuring method.

The article presents conclusions from research data management (RDM) trainings conducted since 2015 as part of the activities of the Open Science Platform, an initiative of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling, University of Warsaw. The aim of the article is to present a training programme and conclusions based on 5 years of experience (in the years 2015–2020 more than 40 workshops and trainings were carried out, face-to-face and online). The frequently asked questions and problems raised by the participants will be discussed. Also, issues addressed during the trainings will be placed in a broader context of changes in scientific communication in Poland, including, in particular, the implementation of openness policies and the development of new research data repositories (as part of the Disciplinary Open Research Data Repositories project). The article will also suggest possible improvements and developments in RDM training.

Nauka, w tym osiągnięcia badawcze oraz działalność jednostek naukowo-badawczych, rozpatrywane są w kategoriach marketingowych. Komercjalizacja spowodowała, iż obecnie konieczne jest udostępnianie informacji i promowanie swoich produktów. Sytuacja wymusza na instytucjach naukowych i ich pracownikach, aby dokonywali permanentnych zmian w relacjach z odbiorcami. Powyższe zmiany odnoszą się do form informowania, reklamowania działań (osiągnięć, a także języka komunikatów przeznaczanych do różnorodnych grup odbiorców. Współczesne media dają wiele możliwości dotarcia do zainteresowanych zagadnieniem odbiorców. Usprawniono system porozumiewania się z nimi. Instytut Zootechniki PIB udoskonala swoją stronę internetową, która jest istotnym źródłem informacji. Chodzi tutaj zarówno o bieżącą działalność Instytutu, w tym szkolenia, warsztaty, sympozja etc., jak i publikacje naukowe. Jednak największym przedsięwzięciem podjętym dotychczas przez Instytut było utworzenie teleinformatycznej platformy wymiany wiedzy o jakości i bezpieczeństwie produkcji zwierzęcej. Z rezultatów projektu mogą obecnie, a także będą mogli w przyszłości skorzystać producenci zwierząt hodowlanych, hodowcy, producenci pasz oraz instytucje naukowe współpracujące z Instytutem Zootechniki Państwowym Instytutem Badawczym.

This paper describes a new measurement method for determining the quality of the IPTV (Television over IP) service. This method uses the latest IPTV Model and is one of a number of parameter-based measuring techniques (offline operation, i.e. without intrusive measurement). It delivers results that come very close to those of the corresponding Perceptual Evaluation of Video Quality (PEVQ) curves. The method is quickly and easily implemented - one of the great advantages of using this method to measure QoS.

B-learning is a new tool in children’s speech-language pathology, one which has not previously been tested empirically by Polish scholars. Polish speech-language pathology has used information and communication technologies for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes for more than 30 years. Originally, speech-language pathologists in Poland used computer software translated from other languages, but in the 1990s, they began to develop their own programs to accommodate the specificity of the Polish language. The advent of the Internet brought with it speech-language therapy e-learning platforms. The author of this paper created a remote speech-language therapy course concept in 2009, which was used to create the first Polish e-learning platform for children with speech impediments, available at www.elogo.edu.pl. Developed in 2010, it was part of the EU project: “Stworzenie internetowego serwisu E-Logo-Edukacja, opartego na innowacyjnych e-usługach: e-logopedia i e-statystyka” (“Development of the E-Logo-Edukacja online service based on innovative e-services: e-speech therapy and e-statistics”). The platform has been used in the speech-language therapy of children with speech impediments in order to verify if new technologies can help improve articulation. The creator of the concept named it b-learning, and it incorporates online exercises into traditional speech-language therapy. A study conducted between 2011 and 2014 on two 35-person groups (an experimental group and a control group) proved that b-learning can be effective when applied in children’s speech-language therapy. This paper demonstrates the effectiveness of four b-learning models. The results obtained proved that the most effective b-learning model involved the concurrent use of traditional speech-language therapy and the e-learning platform.

Narzędzia kształcenia na odległość oprócz tego, że wspomagają i wspierają procesy nauczania i uczenia się, różnicują oraz wzbogacają formę komunikacji pomiędzy wszystkimi uczestnikami procesu dydaktycznego. Forma komunikacji jest jednak ściśle uzależniona od danego narzędzia, jakie jest wykorzystywane, zwłaszcza od jego funkcjonalności. Celem artykułu jest omówienie zagadnień dotyczących komunikacji z wykorzystaniem platformy LMS ILIAS w nauczaniu mieszanym. W artykule szczególną uwagę poświęcono zagadnieniom, takim jak netykieta oraz funkcje komunikatów w sieci. Poruszane zagadnienia mogą okazać się użyteczne dla osób projektujących kursy e-learningowe, nauczycieli akademickich, czy trenerów.
Although distance learning tools enhance and support teaching and learning processes, they differentiate and enrich the forms of communication between all the participants of the educational process. Forms of communication, however, strongly depend on an applied tool and its functionalities. The purpose of this article is to discuss issues related to communication which takes place while using the LMS ILIAS platform in the form of hybrid teaching. Special attention is paid to the issues such as the etiquette and functions of net messages. The article may be useful for instructional designers, teachers or other trainers dealing with distance training.

Rosnąca oferta możliwości sieci oraz dostępnych aplikacji stała się początkiem idei połączenia w ramach sieci Internet różnych urządzeń także takich, które nie są kojarzone z technologią komputerową jak czujniki, urządzenia AGD, elementy wykonawcze, a nawet ubrania czy książki. Taki rozwinięty system złożony z wielu elementów wyposażony w odpowiednie oprogramowanie sterujące i aplikacyjne nazywa się Internetem Rzeczy (ang. Internet of Things, w skrócie IoT). Artykuł przestawia przegląd głównych cech technologii IoT oraz ogólną charakterystykę węzłów podłączanych do takiego systemu.
Innovation and development in the field of computer and network technologies have led in the last decade to rapid development and expansion of the marketing offer associated with modern devices (smartphones, tablets, etc.) for the average recipient. The growing offer of network possibilities and available applications has become the beginning of the idea of connecting various devices within the Internet network, also those that are not associated with computer technology such as sensors, household appliances, executive elements and even clothes or books. Such a developed system composed of many elements equipped with appropriate control and application software is called the Internet of Things (IoT for short). In order for an object to become part of such a system, a number of requirements related to its computing power, communication, routing etc. should be met. The article presents the main features of IoT technology and the general characteristics of nodes connected to such a system.

Due to globalized business operations, companies in different economic sectors are part of complex supply chain networks. Their value-added processes comprise product and information flows, e.g. with a focus on manufacturing, service or trade. Until the final product is delivered to the end customer, it needs to pass many different processes in cooperating organizations. As a result, there a lot of business-to-business (B2B) interactions with crossenterprise transactions, often including cross-border communications and sometimes even cross-industry trades with technological and often cultural implications. Especially the interfaces of supply chain networks are prone to inefficiencies, misunderstandings and delays due to a lack of standardized B2B transactions, which leads to waste in form of rework, errors and mistakes. In addition, new customers are hard to find for the manufacturing or trading company, since potential customers are so far limited to a regional network. The advantages of extending the customer base still need to be explored by many organizations. This paper discusses the opportunities by streamlining the communication along supply chain networks in a general fashion and then describes the application in a B2B automotive retail business. A concept of a web-based trading platform, which provides a seamless service for all steps of a convenient and efficient used vehicle remarketing business, is developed. It includes all phases, like offering and price finding in a comprehensive online platform, which also covers further activities, such as logistic services, financial transactions, and a mandatory feedback loop. The suggested B2B vehicle-trading platform enables a quick turnover of each transaction, which is analyzed and optimized based on the application of cross-enterprise Value Stream Management.

Knowledge management is said to be one of the most significant tasks of any organization nowadays. The paper sets two research objectives to be performed: consideration of teachers as a kind of knowledge workers and analysis of knowledge management systems which support knowledge workers activity. For realization of the first objective literature analysis is performed and conclusions are drawn about the specific features of teachers as knowledge distributors. Realization of the second objective is presented by the results of a questionnaire, distributed among teachers of Polish universities, and directed at finding out whether an open-source platform Moodle, as a knowledge management system, meets the requirements of knowledge workers.
Zarządzanie wiedzą jest uważane za jedno z najważniejszych zadań każdej organizacji w dzisiejszych czasach. Niniejszy artykuł przedstawia dwa cele badawcze: analizę nauczyciela jako pracownika wiedzy oraz analizę systemów zarządzania wiedzą, które wspierają działalność pracowników wiedzy. Do realizacji pierwszego z nich została wykonana analiza literatury oraz zostały sformowane wnioski na temat specyficznych cech nauczycieli jako dystrybutorów wiedzy. Realizacja drugiego jest prezentowana w wynikach ankiety skierowanej do nauczycieli polskich uczelni, której zamierzeniem było uzyskanie odpowiedzi na pytanie: czy platforma Moodle, jako system zarządzania wiedzą, spełnia wymagania pracowników wiedzy?
