Traditional dissertation has been practised by several generations of students. This exercise has also been commented on by several generations of school system experts. Between commentaries of teachers (before 1980) and those of didacticians (after 1980), some differences of perspective seem to have installed themselves in a relatively stable way. The present article can’t detail the shift between a paradigm dominated by the link between language and thought and a paradigme dominated by a communicative conception of the language. It can however choose a specific aspect of that paradigm shift: the concurrence between two definitions of rhetoric. The definition explicitly rejected but implicitly conveyed by dissertation manuals, tends to mask the situation of communication. On the contrary, the definition of rhetoric used by didacticians insists on the essential necessity of an audience. The present article proposes an analysis of the concurrence between those two definitions.

The study is aimed to analyse an interesting phenomenon that belongs to the intersection of communicology and media studies and (in the Author’s opinion) has brought into existence a politician with a new type of identity a MediaEgo. Politicians of this type function in an environment having a special nature for the researcher – in the MediaPolis. The Author, while identifying the determinants (indicata) that constitute a MediaEgo in the researched space (the new public sphere), also observed changes in the communication paradigms that defined communication methods used by candidates to public offices. The Author discusses two new paradigms that illustrate those changes: Communication paradigm 1: new rhetoric, new narration; communication paradigm 2: communication of the image, (not)new media, (not)new communication channels.

Opis:
The problem of the study - the genesis of the problem of the crisis of professional identity of a teacher in the context of the formation of a new information and communication educational paradigm in the second half of the twentieth century - early twenty-first century. The analysis of the scientific and pedagogical literature of the second half of the twentieth century - the beginning of the twenty-first century demonstrates that the transition to a new paradigm of education was marked by the emergence of a crisis of professional identity, which is also emphasised by the ambiguity of definitions of the concept of professional identity. In the modern scientific and pedagogical discourse, a teacher is seen as a person with numerous roles. The scientific, theoretical and philosophical foundations for considering research activities and publication activity as key indicators of the level of professional identity of a teacher are identified and substantiated. An empirical study of the opinions of practicing teachers in Poland, Slovakia, Ukraine and Sweden on research and publication activity is carried out. The results of the international empirical research state the presence and reveal specific manifestations of the professional identity crisis.

Opis:
The study of dynamic codes in various social and legal conditions and the problems of agnonymy in intercultural communication allow us to automatically assert that collective memory and a common past are the basis of socialism, language, as a true chronicler, records everything in its linguistic picture of the world. The informative value of a communicative unit is determined not only by its correlations with a specific denotate, but also by the specific emotional-aesthetic attitude of native speakers towards it, which are uniform manifestations in a given linguistic and cultural community. The scientific and technological revolution accelerates the processes leading to agnonymy (dynamics of vocabulary and connotative meanings, dynamics of printed forms, urban palimpsests, text modifications, etc.).

The paper investigates the communication gaps in the public spaces of post-Soviet cities (from the perspective of business-government-society interaction) through the spatial paradigm lens of urban sociology coupled with the perspective of communications studies. The author analyzes the particularities of the spatial organization of post-Soviet cities; describes the main features of their urban public space; and examines their impact on the patterns of social interactions. The paper presents the results of empirical research into the government-business relationship, using the case of Minsk, the capital city of Belarus. The author specifically focuses on the instances of communicative dysfunction (i.e. communication gaps) as the manifestation of social distance, exploring its nature from the perspective of the concept of “a Stranger”. The findings point at a need to supplement the local communities with local public communication channels and content.

Opis:
Academic discourse has in recent years emphasised the importance of an integrative approach to foreign language learning and teaching in which affective factors are treated equally to cognitive ones. These components are characterised by dynamic interaction where emotions are not viewed as an addition but as an important component of the language learning process that act as a catalyst. The aim of this article is to review theoretical approaches based on the assumption that affective and cognitive processes cannot be perceived as two separate areas of the human psyche, as both jointly shape human actions, including those in language. This view is the starting point of an analysis of the potential use of the affective-cognitive paradigm in preparing for specialist communication. It is assumed that it can become a theoretical framework for empirical research that will allow for a better understanding of the specificity and functioning of individual differences in language communication and allow for a more complete picture of specific factors, taking into account their multidimensional nature, dynamics and embeddedness in the context of specialist communication.
