Artykuł przedstawia wybrane problemy analizy przebiegów ciśnień cylindrowych w okrętowych silnikach tłokowych. Prawidłowo sporządzony i przeanalizowany wykres indykatorowy pomaga w formułowaniu wniosków diagnostycznych, za pomocą których można doprowadzić do optymalnej, pod kątem ekonomicznym i ekologicznym, regulacji silnika okrętowego. Pomiary ciśnień cylindrowych zaliczane są do trudnych, a także obarczonych wieloma błędami, dlatego też głównym tematem artykułu jest przedstawienie nowej koncepcji pomiarów przebiegów ciśnień cylindrowych.
The article presents selected problems regarding the correct analysis of cylinder pressures in ship piston engines. Correctly prepared and the analyzed indicator diagram helps in formulating appropriate diagnostic conclusions, with the help of which it is possible to achieve the optimal, in economic and environmental terms, regulation of the ship's engine. Cylinder pressure measurements are classified as difficult and also burdened with many errors. Therefore, the main topic of the article is to present a new concept for cylinder pressure measurements.

The following article describes parameters of developed indicator diagrams concerning piston combustion engine of ship main propulsion, which can be used to assess its technical condition. To make a diagnosis of the engine combustion only such parameters should be selected which are characterized by high information value, being closely connected with its one defined structure. This is the cause why such connections are of unmistakable character, which allows to make the right diagnosis of technical condition of piston engine. Special attention was also paid to the consequences of diagnostic symptoms qualification from developed indicator diagrams of ship propulsion engine working in different conditions. Deflection of average indicated pressure caused by inappropriate engine performance could be caused by: 1) faulty adjustment of injection pump; 2) leaky combustion chamber, 3) bad technical condition of injection apparatus and the loading air system. Wrong technical condition of the engine caused by a leaky combustion chamber brings about a decrease of its performance. Untight combustion chamber causes the change of such parameters as, suction pressure, pressure of final compression and burning, as well as, the change of exhaust gases composition, which influences the power of the engine and fuel consumption. It has been mentioned what gas pressures of working process in engine cylinders are connected with an untight combustion chamber. Random character of burning pressure course in engine cylinder has also been paid attention to. Reliability of diagnostic parameters of piston engine technical condition received based on developed indicator diagrams have been determined. Diagnostic symptoms have been defined, basing on measurements and statistical analysis of pressure values in the cylinders of properly adjusted engines being in excellent technical condition and not based on measurements received in the engine test bed of a new engine.

The following article describes the effect of combustion chamber leakage of piston engine on the quality of its performance. To make a diagnosis of combustion chamber tightness, only such parameters were selected which are characterized by high information value and are closely connected with its defined structure. For this reason such connections are unmistakable, which results in making the right diagnosis of combustion chamber tightness of piston engines. Special attention was paid to the fact, what consequences, combustion chamber leakage, can cause to the piston engine performance. The most dangerous for the engine efficiency is the leakage of combustion chamber. The leakage of combustion chamber brings about the change of such engine parameters as pressure of suction, pressure of final compression and burning and the change of exhaust gases composition, which effect on the engine power and on fuel consumption. Condition of piston rings and their influence on gas pressure in combustion chamber has also been characterized. Pressure of gases taking place in engine cylinder and their connection with leakage of combustion chamber have also been described. The article also exposes random character of combustion pressure in engine cylinder. Besides, the errors of indicator diagrams together with mapping error position GMP have been mentioned too. Reliability of diagnostic parameters of technical condition of combustion piston engines obtained on the basis of developed indicator diagrams has been defined. Such diagram must be made on the basis of measurements and statistic analysis of pressure parameters in correctly adjusted engines, being in perfect technical condition, and not on the basis of measurements obtained in the engine test bench of a new engine. Bad technical condition, especially leaks in its cylinders causes power differences in engine arrangements, which endangers its safe exploitation.

The modern solution of two-stage combustion, namely the Turbulent Jet Ignition (TJI), enables the combustion of ultra-lean mixtures. Thanks to this solution, it became possible to reduce fuel consumption and, at the same time, to increase the combustion process indicators (including the overall combustion system efficiency). The article presents the results of numerical tests of a heavy-duty engine equipped with the TJI system running on gas fuels. The AVL BOOST software was used to analyze the effects of different fuel injection rates into the pre-chamber and various ignition timing angles, while maintaining a constant global excess air ratio. Increasing the proportion of hydrogen in the prechamber resulted in its reduction in the main chamber (the fuel dose was kept constant with different excess air coefficients in each of the chambers). The maximum combustion pressure values in both chambers were investigated. Changes in the amount of heat released and its release rate were determined. As a result of the simulations, different ignition and combustion conditions were presented for the tested fuels. Based on this, maps of fuel dose to prechamber vs. ignition advance angle were drawn up, showing selected thermodynamic indicators of the combustion process.

The paper analyses the current offer of combustion pressure sensors for use on marine engines under operating conditions, methods of data acquisition, methods of determining TDC position and methods of obtaining diagnostic information from the indicator diagrams. Terms of continuous work on marine engines themselves only: new ABB cylinder pressure sensor, the piezoelectric sensors from KISTLER and AVL companies, but with limitations, the main ones being stability at high temperature. Another important issue for the accuracy of mean indicated pressure and heat released characteristics determination is referred to TDC position on the indicator diagrams. TDC is appropriate thermodynamic point, it is hardly determinable in the presence of interference and lack of sufficient information – but is used, for example in ABB solution. One of the sources of diagnostic information is to analyse trends in some parameters, which, unfortunately, is very difficult in environments with varying engine loads. Further progress in the diagnostic use of indicator diagrams should be associated with the use of the heat released characteristics and the net internal efficiency, which as shown by the results of preliminary tests can be used to assess the accuracy of the injection and combustion of fuel, including gas fuel. Supplementing these methods may be the use of vibration and noise to detect certain malfunctions.

Na podstawie transformacji wykresów indykatorowych wyznaczono przebiegi zmian temperatury w komorze spalania, prędkości i skumulowanej ilości wydzielanego ciepła oraz sprawności spalania. Porównano ilość wydzielonego ciepła z ilością ciepła dostarczonego oraz przedstawiono wyniki pomiarów emisji toksycznego składnika spalin - NOx. Poziom tej emisji w silnikach HCCI jest znacznie niższy niż w silnikach konwencjonalnych zarówno o zapłonie iskrowym, jak i samoczynnym.
Transformation of indicator diagrams provided grounds to determine trajectories of temperature changes in combustion chamber, speed and cumulated volume of released heat, and combustion efficiency. The researchers compared released heat volume with supplied heat volume, and presented measurement results for emissions of NOx - toxic exhaust gas component. This emission level for HCCI engines is much lower than for conventional engines, both spark ignition and spontaneous ignition.

Using the ICT-Thermodynamic Code program, thermodynamic parameters and combustion products composition of the Rocksplitter type, containing different masses of pytotechnic mixture and black powder, were evaluated. The eco-indicator was determined on the basis of numerical falsification results obtained using the SimaPro PhD version 7.2 of the Dutch company PreConsultants. The environmental impact analysis was performed at the combustion temperatures of the tested mixtures and at 298 K.

In this paper, the authors present an introduction to the new method of evaluating the indicator diagram of internal combustion engine. For several years, it was observed that analyses of combustion processes have been hardly changed since they were conducted for the first time. At the moment, the diagrams are plotted more and more precisely owing to the new sensors and digital processors. Despite all of these high technical advantages, which were obviously unavailable in the past, theoretical approach for describing indicator diagram has not changed in significant way. Nowadays, the indicator diagrams are still evaluated very generally and are presented in much too idealistic way as a smooth curve of pressure changes, without any disturbances, which are being detected very easily now. Furthermore, it appears that performance improvements of the IC engines are in need of developing new methods for analysis and evaluation. The Fourier transform is a new way to look at the combustion process in the engines. It is basically a mathematical instrument for analysing different types of signals, which are transformed, from time domain into frequency domain. It enables identifying specific sinusoidal components of arbitrary signals and separates relevant ones from the noise. This allows one to see significant differences in two or more apparently similar signals and detect the crucial parts. If we treat pressure changes in time like a common signal, we can compute Fourier transform and see basic components of the diagram.

The article presents selected methods of assessing the basic parameters of the combustion process, as well as assessing the usability and limitations of the methods used to determine the initiation and the end of the combustion process in reciprocating internal combustion engines. The methods considered are based on data contained in real, developed indicator diagrams. Basic thermodynamic assumptions and the scope of application of the combustion process evaluation method based on the actual work cycle of a combustion engine prepared in a double logarithmic scale were discussed. The article also mentions the application of the following methods: a direct pressure comparison method in the cylinder, the comparison of the first pressure derivative in the cylinder, logarithmic derivative meth-od of pressure change in the cylinder, the method of the polytropic index, method of the first derivative of the polytropic index and the method of constant values of the polytropic index. The article presents the advantages and disadvantages of the research of our methods.

The article describes the test results of the uniqueness of the work cycle of two-cylinder internal combustion piston FIAT 0.9 TwinAir engine, while being powered by 95 octane petrol fuel and LPG gas. The engine was working according to load characteristics. The engine mounted on the test bench was equipped with a sequential LPG gas fuel supply system. The gas fuels differ significantly from the petrol fuels in their physiochemical properties. In order to rationally utilize gas fuels to power internal combustion engines, the knowledge about basic fuel burning process of these fuels is required. The article shows the analysis of individual engine work cycles of the technologically advanced engine in order to evaluate the influence of powering by LPG gas fuel on the rate of uniqueness of its work cycles. The measure of uniqueness of the inter-cylinder processes are the work cycle uniqueness indicators, which are as follows: the maximum work cycle pressure uniqueness indicator, the average measured work cycle pressure uniqueness indicator, the measured pressure work cycle graph uniqueness indicator and the measured pressure work cycle partial graph uniqueness. The carried out research and its analysis has shown that powering the engine with LPG gas has an influence on the engine work cycles and its uniqueness. The burning process of the mixture consisting of air and LPG gas is quicker, which has an effect on the higher speed of pressure increase rate in comparison with the engine being powered by petrol fuel. Achieved maximum in-cylinder pressure values while the engine was powered by LPG gas were higher in comparison with it being fuelled with conventional fuel. This causes an increase of the gas lads on crank-piston system, which are influencing directly the piston with higher heat load, and the thermal load of the engine.

The paper presents the results of the research on the uniqueness of the combustion process in the Perkins 1104D-E44TA engine already equipped with a Common Rail injection system, and then adapted on an engine test stand to dual-fuel operation. The result of the combustion process is an indicator diagram. The combustion process in the cylinder of the tested engine was evaluated by determining the uniqueness indicators of subsequent operating cycles, such as: the uniqueness indicator for the maximum pressure of the operating cycle, the uniqueness indicator for the mean indicated pressure, the uniqueness indicator for the indicated diagram and the uniqueness indicator for the partial indicator diagram. The conducted tests and the analysis of the results showed the impact of dual-fuel power supply of the tested engine on the combustion process, as compared to supplying the engine only with diesel fuel, for which it has been optimized.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki analizy porównawczej sześciu składów stałych heterogenicznych paliw rakietowych, zawierających jako utleniacz tylko chloran(VII) amonu (AP), tylko azotan(V) amonu lub chloran(VII) amonu (AP) i azotan(V) amonu lub chloran(VII) amonu (AP) i azotan(V) sodu (NaNO3) i zawierających jako plastyfikator adypinian dioktylu (DOA) oraz jako lepiszcze syntetyczne kauczuki HTPB lub PBAN. Analizę porównawczą przeprowadzono w oparciu o metodę Ekowskaźnika dla jednej kategorii wpływu zmiany klimatu w ramach kategorii szkody zdrowie ludzkie. Analizowano wpływ gazowych produktów spalania poprzez potencjały globalnego ocieplenia dla warunków stałego ciśnienia w komorze wynoszącego 7 MPa i ciśnienia na wylocie komory równego 0,1 MPa. Wykorzystano wersje hierarchiczną w ramach oceny wielkości wpływu. Analiza wykazała, że dla każdego z analizowanych paliw rakietowych produkty gazowe na wylocie komory mają wyższą wartość, łączną liczbę Ekowskaźnika, czyli wyższy potencjalny wpływ na zmiany klimatu.
The paper presents results of a comparative analysis of six fixed compositions of heterogeneous rocket fuels containing only the ammonium perchlorate (AP), only the ammonium nitrate or the ammonium perchlorate (AP) and the ammonium trioxochlorate or the ammonium perchlorate (AP) and the sodium nitrate (NaN) as the oxidiser, and as plasticizer containing the di-octyl adipate (DOA) and the HTPB or the PBAN rubbers as the synthetic binders. A comparative analysis was carried out based on the Eco-indicator method for a single category of climate change impact under the category of the human life damage. The analysis was carried out of the impact of the gaseous burning products by the global warming potential for the constant pressure conditions in the chamber equalling to 7MPa and pressure on the chamber outlet equalling to 0.1 MPa. Use was made of the hierarchical version under appraisal of the magnitude of the exerted impact. The analysis has shown that for each of the analysed rocket fuels gaseous products on the outfall of the chamber have a higher total value of the number of points of the eco-indicator, i.e. a higher potential impact on the climate changes.

Opis:
An object of the paper is a novel method of effective heat release coefficient appointing during combustion process of the based on the real indicator diagram. The process quality of the heat release during process of combustion is evaluated by value of the effective heat release coefficient. Accepted assumptions at appointing effective coefficient of heat release refer to acceptable that thermodynamical parameters of the working charge according to points of the real indicator diagram and the computational diagram are such the same, the maximum pressure of real working cycle of the engine is equal to the pressure of the computational cycle, work of the working charge performed in period from point of closing of the inlet valve to point of the beginning of the exhaust process are for both considered working cycles equal, heat values of the carried to the real and computational cycle are such the same. The method of appointing of the self-ignition delay period is presented in the paper, using to this end intersection point of two graphs of temperature course of the working charge prepared for the first phase of combustion process. Other methods appointing characteristics is suggested in paper basing on the real indicator diagram. The graphic illustration of the preparing method of characteristics of the relative quantity of the heat release during combustion process is illustrated in paper.

Opis:
Coal is a porous medium. Due to the large number of pores in coal and the pore size on its surface, usually ranging from millimeter to nanometer, it is difficult to measure and analyze the microscopic pore structure of coal. In order to investigate the effect of the microscopic pore structure of coal on its spontaneous combustion tendency, coal samples from different coal mines of the Kailuan Group were selected as the research objects, and the data of the microscopic pore distribution of three different coal samples were measured by using mercury injection apparatus. The regression analysis of microscopic pore data of coal samples obtained in the mercury injection experiment shows that the correlation coefficients of the regression curves are all greater than 0.94 and the fitting degree is good, indicating that there is a good correlation between the pressure, mercury intake and pore size of the coal samples, indicating that the fractal dimension of pore distribution is very effective. The fractal dimension is generally between 2 and 3, indicating that the microscopic pores of coal samples have good fractal characteristics and meet the fractal theory to describe the distribution characteristics of microscopic pores in porous media. Through the simulation system of natural combustion of coal, the simulation experiment of temperature rise oxidation of different coal samples (gas coal, fat coal, and coke coal) was carried out, and the curve of the concentration of gas products CO and CO2 in the process of temperature rise and oxidation of coal samples was drawn in the experiment. The experimental results show the relationship between the distribution structure of coal pores and its spontaneous combustion tendency, and the coal with a good distribution dimension has a stronger combustion tendency.
