Opis:
The paper analyses the operation of different types of electronic colour sensors based on the light spectrum analysis. The application goal was to detect the type of the airport lamp based on differences in colour components of the light emitted by luminaires with specific spectral characteristics. Recognition of airport lamps is based on the analysis of the light spectrum. Proposed solution allows for an automatic software selection of appropriate conversion factors and comparison with specific standards necessary for this type of measurements. Various types of sensors were discussed and the AS7262 sensor was examined in detail. The colour sensor and the light intensity sensor were used in the mobile control device for examining elevated airport lamps and in the measurement platform for quality testing of embedded airport lamps. Two additional aspects were investigated: 1) influence of an additional acrylic glass cover; 2) distance between airport lamps and the spectrum sensor.

Opis:
Common passive surveys for the presence of clouds in the sky are carried out using the digital processing of photographs taken using fish-eye type lenses. Another type of survey is carried out using active measuring systems, e.g. thermal imaging, active laser distance sensors, etc. A common feature of these sensors is the high cost of the measuring apparatus, which is hardly acceptable for small local short-term weather forecasting stations. The main task of these weather stations is to forecast local dynamic weather phenomena that have (or may have) an impact on the use or operation of technical facilities (e.g. photovoltaic farms, wind farms, cranes, etc.) or agricultural plant protection measures. This paper proposes a hybrid method for detecting clouds and predicting changes in cloud cover on the horizon line. The proposed method is based on an analysis of colour photographs of the cross-section of the sky using chrominance distribution by the RGB method. In the next step, the CCT colour temperature and the ALS-based ambient light intensity resulting from spectral analysis are determined for the cross-section of the sky being identified. The survey results indicate the dependence of the variability of CCT and ALS parameters for classifying objects on the horizon line. The above analysis makes it possible to distinguish the sky on the horizon, a cloud, or agglomeration elements. The data obtained from the surveys show that the proposed structure of the hybrid system for analysing the presence and movement of clouds on the horizon line can provide the basis for further development of data processing algorithms for a passive sensor of the apparatus for detecting clouds and other objects on the horizon line.

Opis:
The electronic quasi-bound state in the continuum concept is explored in an InGaAs/InAlAs heterostructure to create a voltage-tunable dual-colour quantum Bragg mirror detector. This heterostructure is based on one main quantum well embedded between two different superlattices. By bandgap engineering, each superlattice gives rise to quasi-bound states in the continuum with a preferential direction for electron extraction. Due to these states, the photovoltaic photocurrent presents a dual-colour response, one in a positive direction at 340 meV (3.6 µm), and one in a negative direction at 430 meV (2.9 µm). The simultaneous dual-colour detection can be switched to a single-colour detection (340 meV or 430 meV) by applying a bias voltage. At 77 K, the specific detectivity for simultaneous dual-colour is 2.5·10⁸ Jones, while the single-colour detectivities are 2.6·10⁹ Jones at +2.0 V and 7.7·10⁸ Jones at -1.6 V for 340 meV and 430 meV, respectively.

Opis:
Face detection is one of the most important issues in the identification and authentication systems that use biometric features. In this paper we present algorithms for detecting skin colour. The selection and implementation of an algorithm for automated authentication system and face detection can significantly improve the effectiveness of such a system. In the paper we examine several algorithms and methods that can be used in mobile application for authentication purpose i.e. NFC payments.

In this paper we present high computational complexity algorithms for detecting skin and non-skin colour. Opis:
An X-ray scanning and image processing have a vast range of applications in the security. An image of a content of some package being passed for example to an airplane or to the court house may help to figure out if there are any dangerous objects inside that package and to avoid possible threatening situation. As the raw X-ray images are not always easy to analyze and interpret, some image processing methods like an object detection, a frequency resolution increase or a pseudocolouring are being used. In this paper, we propose a pseudocoloring improvement over material based approach. By addition of the edge detection methods we fill and sharpen colour layers over the image, making it easier to interpret. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the methods using real data, acquired from a professional dual energy X-ray scanner.

Opis:
The increased production of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) in plant leaf tissues is a hallmark of a plant's reaction to various environmental stresses. This paper describes an automatic segmentation method for scanned images of cucurbits leaves stained to visualise ROS accumulation sites featured by specific colour hues and intensities. The leaves placed separately in the scanner view field on a colour background are extracted by thresholding in the RGB colour space, then cleaned from petioles to obtain a leaf blade mask. The second stage of the method consists in the classification of within mask pixels in a hue-saturation plane using two classes, determined by leaf regions with and without colour products of the ROS reaction. At this stage a two-layer, hybrid artificial neural network is applied with the first layer as a self-organising Kohonen type network and a linear perceptron output layer (counter propagation network type). The WTA-based, fast competitive learning of the first layer was improved to increase clustering reliability. Widrow-Hoff supervised training used at the output layer utilises manually labelled patterns prepared from training images. The generalisation ability of the network model has been verified by K-fold cross-validation. The method significantly accelerates the measurement of leaf regions containing the ROS reaction colour products and improves measurement accuracy.
