Opis:
Undisturbed collection of current from a contact wire of the catenary constitutes one of the basic elements in reliable operation of electrified rail transport, particularly when vehicles move at high speed. Quality of current collection is influenced by the construction of catenary and current collectors, as well as by the technical condition and regulation of these two elements. Total contact force of a current collector head on contact line and the condition of contact strip surface determine the quality of the contact between a current collector and contact line. This paper presents an innovative stand for diagnosing contact strips on current collectors with the use of 3D imaging technique. The stand has been tested in laboratory and during trial exploitation on a railway line. Implementation potential of the proposed method has been confirmed.

A numerical investigation of thermal prediction of double-pass solar air heater of-counter flow is developed in the present study. The main idea of the current study is that the collector consists of two layers of glass so that the middle layer is glass instead of the usual metal plate. The performance of double-pass solar air heater is studied for a wide range of solar radiation intensities (600, 750 and 900 W/m 2). A FORTRAN-90 program is built to simulate the mathematical model of double-pass solar air heater based on solving steady state two-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations and energy equation based on finite volume method. Turbulence effect is simulated by two equations k-ε module. The results are compared with the results of a previous experimental study and a good agreement was found. From compression calculating efficiency of the present and traditional collector for each solar intensity, it was found that the efficiency of the current collector is higher than that of the traditional one, where the efficiency of the current collector at the solar intensity of (600, 750 and 900) W/m 2 are (0.529, 0.514 and 0.503), respectively, while those of the traditional collector (0.508, 0.492 and 0.481), respectively. In addition to this, the effect of the mass flow rate on the temperature difference of the current proposed collector was studied. Three values of the mass flow rate were studied (0.009,0.018, and 0.027) kg/s at solar intensity of 750 W/m 2. Flotation and adsorption characteristics of the most commonly used cationic and anionic collectors with high grade orthoclase were investigated through the electrokinetic potential measurement, microflotation, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) studies. According to the obtained results, orthoclase had high flotation recovery with amine and oleic acid based (OAB) collector at certain pH ranges no flotation response was observed with petroleum sulfonate at different pHs. In contrast to the flotation recovery differences, the electrokinetic potential measurements, FTIR and AFM analyses presented similar adsorption characteristics for all collectors. The results of electrokinetic potential tests showed that amine had a strong influence on the zeta potential of orthoclase. While amine turned the zeta potentials of orthoclase from negative to positive, sulfonate and OAB collector provided slightly more negative zeta potentials at certain pHs. In the case of FTIR and AFM analyses, each collector-treated orthoclase (CTO) sample displayed similar characteristic FTIR bands of CH2 group and micro topographical collector coated patches with different intensities. However, the interactions of each collector with orthoclase surfaces were altered by rinsing with acetone indicating that the interactions were mostly through the electrostatic forces and/or hydrogen bonding.

Lizardite slime coating is one of significant factors in the deterioration of the floatability of sulphide minerals. In this study, a nanoparticle cationic polystyrene-co-poly(n-butylacrylate)(PS-PBNH) collector was introduced to eliminate the negative impact of lizardite slimes in pyrite flotation. Microflotation results demonstrated that lizardite slims did not affect the recovery of pyrite in the presence of PS-PBNH. Good flotation separation of pyrite from lizardite was achieved when the nanoparticle PS-PBNH collector was used. The results from adsorption study indicated that PS-PBNH exhibited a significant adsorption on the pyrite surface in the presence of lizardite slimes. Sedimentation tests showed that hetero-aggregation occurred between lizardite slimes and pyrite, whereas the introduction of PS-PBNH collector resulted in a heterogeneous dispersion between them. Zeta potential measurements suggested that PS-PBNH collector interacted with pyrite surface, and the PS-PBNH adsorption changed the surface charge of pyrite from negative to be positive. As a result, the interaction of pyrite with lizardite shifted from electrostatic attraction to electrostatic repulsion, as supported by the DLVO calculations. These results indicated PS-PBNH can be used as a potential collector for pyrite flotation in pyrite/lizardite slimes system without the need for a depressant.

Two flat solar collectors were designed and connected in series in order to achieve a moderately high outlet temperature. This high temperature is to be considered as the inlet temperature to a concentrated collector which is able of generating superheated steam. The first collector plays a role as a preheater; hence, it is called an economizer and the other plays a role as a temperature riser, thus it is called an evaporator. The economizer is a closed steel tank equipped with internal baffles distributed equally to ensure perfect circulation of water inside the tank. However, the evaporator consists of an array of vertical pipes connected to two horizontal manifolds (risers and headers) and bonded to a steel sheet. Both collectors are coated black with a granulated carbon layer and exposed to sun through two glass layers. Two water flow rates were applied at the evaporator 100 L/hr and 200 L/hr. The result shows that a maximum outlet temperature of 73°C and a maximum efficiency of 82% at the beginning of the experiment and 55% by the end of experiment were achieved when the flow rate was 100 L/hr. In addition, the result shows that both collectors reached a situation where there was no useful gain in heat even, though the solar radiation beam still hits with considerable high intensity. This situation occurs when the heat losses increase. Both heat gain and heat lost were calculated and plotted for both collectors and at the two flow rates. In addition, an average value of solar radiation beam during the experiment was plotted.

The lifetime of a catalytic converters is limited. Today’s environmental regulations require that used converters should be properly recycled as a valuable source of precious metals, Al2O3 and steel scrap. The precious metals used in the devices perform catalytic functions. They are suspended in a ceramic or metal carrier. This paper deals with the recovery of precious metals from automotive converters using a metal-collector method. In order to speed up the washout of the precious metals from the capillary structure of the converter, the movement of the liquid metal-collector was forced by the electromagnetic field. The research was aimed at improving the effective velocity of the liquid metal flow through the carrier by means of a device with a double windings. Various ways of power supply were considered. The calculation experiment was performed as a weakly coupled analysis of the electromagnetic field and flow field.
Czas życia katalizatorów samochodowych jest ograniczony. Dzisiejsze przepisy środowiskowe wymagają aby były one poddawane procesowi recyklingu jako cenne źródło platynowców, AI2O3 i złomu stalowego. Metale szlachetne stosowane w tych urządzeniach pełnią funkcje katalityczne, naniesione są na ceramiczny lub metalowy nośnik. Artykuł ten dotyczy procesu odzyskiwania metali szlachetnych ze zużytych katalizatorów samochodowych przy wykorzystaniu metody metalu-zbieracza. W celu przyspieszenia procesu wymywania metali szlachetnych ze struktury kapilarnej katalizatora, przepływ ciekłego metalu-zbieracza zmuszony został przez pole elektromagnetyczne. W pracy przedstawiono wyniki modelowania mające na celu poprawę skuteczności przepływu ciekłego metalu przez nośniki katalizatora za pomocą urządzenia z podwójnym uzwojeniem. Przeanalizowano także różne sposoby zasilania urządzenia. Eksperyment obliczeniowy został zrealizowany jako słabosprzężona analiza pola elektromagnetycznego i pola przepływu.

Active pyrite is one of the most undesirable phenomena in the flotation of porphyry copper ores. Misreported pyrite into copper concentrates decreased the grade and recovery of copper. In this study, the effective parameters on the flotation process including grinding condition and chemical parameters were evaluated in order to decrease the active pyrite recovery by flotation. Firstly, optical microscopic and grinding studies were carried out to determine the optimal particle size and grinding time. The results showed that 43 minutes of grinding is necessary to achieve the optimum liberation degree of 53 µm for flotation. Then, the flotation effective parameters such as pH (7.3, 10, 10.5, 11, 11.5 and 12), collector type (Nascol, Aero 407, Aero 3477 and X231), collector concentration (12 and 25 mg/dm3), depressant concentration (0 and 25 mg/dm3) and frother concentration (0 and 25 mg/dm3) were investigated in a Denver-type laboratory flotation cell with a constant capacity of 2.5 dm3. The results showed that the optimal conditions for chalcopyrite flotation were pH of 11.5, Aero 407 as a collector with concentration of 25 mg/dm3, Dowfroth 250 (DF250) as a frother with concentration of 25 mg/dm3 and Na2SO3 as a depressant with concentration of 25 mg/dm3. The type of collector had greater effect on the chalcopyrite flotation than the other parameters. The recovery and grade of chalcopyrite and pyrite were obtained as 79.95%, 49% and 5.3%, 7.98% using the Aero 407, respectively. Under the optimum conditions, the grade of final concentrate increased from 0.94% to 21.3% with three cleaner stages.

The article focuses on a method of heating buildings by utilizing warm air circulation in closed channels located within external walls, referred to as “collector walls” by the author. These channels are also present in the roof and floors, creating a closed-loop system of interconnected air spaces that form a thermo-circulating heating structure. When the collector walls receive favourable solar exposure from the south, east, or west, the air circulating within the thermo-circulating heating structure is naturally heated through solar radiation, resulting in passive heating. However, in cases where solar radiation is insufficient, an external heat source is re-quired. Heating elements can be directly incorporated into the convection, such as in the lower part of the collector wall.

The adsorption behaviors of an ether amine surfactant, N1-(3-((8-methyl-nonyl)oxy) propyl)propane-1,3-diamine, on collophane and quartz were studied. Batch adsorption experiments were conducted to characterize the thermodynamic behavior of the adsorption process and to calculate the maximum adsorption. Results demonstrated that the adsorption of the ether amine on quartz was greater than collophane. Adsorption mechanisms were studied by means of contact angle measurement, zeta potential measurement, FT-IR analysis, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The results showed that the adsorption of the ether amine surfactant on quartz surface was easier and more efficient than collophane. Micro-flotation tests testified that the collector can efficiently separate collophane from quartz at room temperature in neutral medium.

The paper presents the results of experimental study of the adsorption properties of the combined sulfhydril collecting reagent – a mixed solution of sodium diethyl-dithiocarbamate (DEDTC) and oxypropyl diethyl-dithiocarbamate ester (OPDTC) towards chalcopyrite and arsenopyrite with a view to its application as a selective collector of Au-containing sulfide minerals in flotation of complex refractory ores. Combined diethyl-dithiocarbamate solution (DEDTCc) incorporated a fixed content of anionic and non-ionic components (DEDTC:OPDTC = 1:1) and occurred variable hydrophobic effect on the surface of the basic gold-bearing sulfide minerals – chalcopyrite and arsenopyrite. The mechanism of adsorption of the components of combined collector on the surface of chalcopyrite and arsenopyrite was identified to form characteristic molecular shape of adsorbed collector convex neoplasms and sinter chemically adsorbed film of the reactant, which is firmly anchored on the surface. The newly formed phase of the adsorbed reagent did not dissolve in water at a subsequent washing. In this case, the phase of nonionic ester OPDTC was partially removed by water and the residual adsorbed droplets changed their shape and became flatter. By X-ray microanalysis C and O bands relating to the structure of the combined DEDTCc were identified on the surface of arsenopyrite and chalcopyrite. The original technic for analyzing the liner dimension of surface images with an application of scanning laser microscopy and the software of the Analyzer was developed and the authors succeeded to provide a quantitative evaluation of the adsorption of DEDTCc on the surface of chalcopyrite and arsenopyrite.
W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań eksperymentalnych właściwości adsorpcyjnych kombinowanego odczynnika zbierającego sulfhydryl – mieszanego roztworu dietyloditiokarbaminianu sodu (DEDTC) i estru oksypropylodietyloditiokarbaminianowego (OPDTC) w kierunku chalkopirytu i arsenopirytu w celu jego zastosowania selektywny kolektor minerałów siarczkowych zawie- rających Au w flotacji złożonych rud ogniotrwałych. Połączony roztwór dietylo-ditiokarbaminianu (DEDTCc) zawierał stałą zawartość składników anionowych i niejonowych (DEDTC: OPDTC = 1: 1) i zaobserwowano zmienny efekt hydrofobowy na powierzchni podstawowych minerałów siarczkowych niosących złoto - chalkopirytu i arsenopirytu. Mechanizm adsorpcji składników kombinowanego kolektora na powierzchni chalkopirytu i arsenopirytu został zidentyfikowany jako charakterystyczny skład molekularny adsorbowanego kolektora chemicznie zaadsorbowanych cząsteczek reagenta, który jest mocno zakotwiczony na powierzchni. Nowo utworzona faza zaadsorbowanego odczynnika nie rozpuszczała się w wodzie podczas kolejnego płukania. W tym przypadku faza niejonowego estru OPDTC została częściowo usunięta przez wodę, a resztkowe zaadsorbowane kropelki zmieniły swój kształt i stały się bardziej płaskie. Za pomocą mikroanalizy rentgenowskiej zidentyfikowano pasma C i O dotyczące struktury połączonego DEDTCc na powierzchni arsenopirytu i chalkopirytu. Opracowano oryginalną technikę analizy wymiaru liniowego obrazów powierzchni za pomocą skaningowej mikroskopii laserowej i oprogramowania analizatora, a autorom udało się określić ilościową ocenę adsorpcji DEDTCc na powierzchni chalkopirytu i arsenopirytu.

In conventional flotation systems, the collector is adsorbed onto mineral particles from the aqueous phase at the solid/liquid interface. Aerosol collector addition is a concept whereby collector molecules are introduced to mineral surfaces via the surfaces of bubbles or the solid/gas interface. Several studies have demonstrated this concept, ranging from the analysis of ideal mineral surfaces to laboratory-scale flotation of complex water systems. However, the physical addition of a collector to the surfaces of bubbles is not a common process and has no uniform methodology. If aerosol collector addition is to be studied as a viable reagent addition technique, it becomes necessary to develop and test appropriate methods that could be replicated across several different studies. This work examines two aerosol addition methods: a conventional Venturi-style gas liquid nozzle, as well as a purpose-built atomiser developed for use in pharmacological applications. Both were compared to a standard “upfront conditioning” batch dosage method and were found to be safe, simple to use and produced comparable flotation outcomes.

The following paper presents the results of the experimental study, on the operation of the parabolic linear absorber in the parabolic concentrator solar system. The parabolic mirror with an aperture of 1 m and a focal length of 0.25 m focuses the simulated radiation onto a tubular absorber with a diameter of 33.7 mm, which is placed in a vacuum tube. The length of the absorber is 1 m. The installation is illuminated by the solar simulator, which allows to carry out tests under constant and repeatable conditions. The simulator consists of 18 metal halide lamps, with a nominal power of 575 W each with a dimming possibility of up to 60%. The paper presents preliminary results of heat absorption by the analysed absorber, temperature increment, collected heat flux, and the pressure drop crucial for the optimization of the absorber geometry.

W pracy przedstawiono wyniki analizy energetyczno-ekologicznej płaskiego cieczowego kolektora słonecznego. Opracowana charakterystyka obejmuje dane od pozyskania surowców do bramy wyjazdowej z zakładu produkcyjnego i może być udostępniana nabywcom jako informacja środowiskowa charakteryzująca procesy produkcyjne kolektorów słonecznych. Ocena wielkości potencjalnego obciążenia środowiska naturalnego została sporządzona w odniesieniu do siedmiu kategorii wpływów.
The paper shows the results of energy and ecological analysis of a solar liquid flat plate collector. The prepared profile includes data from the raw materials acquirement to a factory exit gate and this could be available to buyers as environmental information characterizing the production processes of solar collectors. The assessment of potential environmental burden quantity was estimated based on seven environmental impacts.
