    The Department of Political Science of the Alexander Dubček University in Trenčin during 2018 - 2020 aims to solve the project of the Cultural and Educational Grant Agency of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sports of the Slovak Republic (known as KEGA project). The KEGA Project The Innovation of Methodical Sheets for Teachers of Civics from the need of Prevention of Extremism and Education for Democratic Citizenship is focused on the analysis of the phenomenon of extremism and the other forms of intolerance towards other members of society in terms of several social sciences (political science, international relations, history, sociology, massmedia studies) with the intention to innovate methodical sheets for civics education teachers. In the final phase of project a synthesis of these views will take place to make curriculums easier to use for teachers within civic education courses and at the same time, to strengthen the acute need to prevent angry demonstrations. This synthesis should create more effective upbringing and education towards democratic citizenship. The aim of the project is to analyze selected aspects related to issues of extremism in theory, the synthesis of which contributes to problem solving, resulting in new methodical sheets in an online available format. The acquired knowledge will be available to the professional public, especially to primary and secondary school teachers in the Slovak Republic, in the framework of workshops, thematic lectures and summer schools.

    The main axis of the narration in this article is the analysis of the electoral activity of young Poles from the perspective of the formal program of Citizenship Education in the area of shaping the attitudes of young people as active voters. The first part of the article presents the context of Polish civil society and the electoral activity of young Poles. The Author connects the analyses of youth electoral patterns to with the assessment of effectiveness of formal education, including textbook messages, in shaping and developing civic engagement in youth. The article presents the analysis of textbooks for civic education, as well as indicates some non-textual contexts for implementing civic education in Poland. The analysis of citizenship education textbooks becomes an opportunity to approximate multi-faceted challenge of shaping civil attitudes among young people in Poland.

    Na rocznych kursach przygotowawczych dla osób, które zamierzają podjąć studia w Polsce, pojawia się konieczność wprowadzania języka specjalistycznego i harmonijnego łączenia nauki języka z przekazywaniem wiedzy niezbędnej na wybranych kierunkach studiów. Niniejszy artykuł dotyczy nauczania kandydatów na kierunki humanistyczne i przedstawia sposób wprowadzania elementów wiedzy o społeczeństwa do zadań, które służą rozwijaniu oraz sprawdzaniu kompetencji językowych na poziomie B2. Przedstawiane są ćwiczenia leksykalne, gramatyczne, zadania na rozumienie tekstu, a także bodźce wypowiedzi ustnych i pisemnych, które mają przybliżać studentom zasady ordynacji wyborczej, wprowadzać w świat polskiej polityki i propagować pożądane zachowania społeczne. Kształcenie sprawności językowych staje się bowiem dobrą okazją, by upowszechniać wiedzę z określonych dziedzin i kształtować przy tym obywatelską postawę. „Głos po polsku” to zarówno przejaw znajomości języka, jak i aktywności społecznej, do której warto zachęcać młodzież.
    During preparatory courses for foreigners who intend to study in Poland, there is a need to introduce a specialised language variety and harmoniously combine teaching language with the transfer of knowledge necessary in selected fields of study. This article concerns the teaching of candidates planning to undertake the studies in humanities. It presents the manner of introducing the elements of civics to the tasks that serve to develop and test language competences at the B2 level. It presents lexical and grammatical exercises, text comprehension tasks and stimuli to oral and written assignments, which are to familiarise students with the principles of the Polish electoral law, introduce them to the world of Polish politics and promote the desired social behaviours. The training of language skills becomes an excellent opportunity to disseminate knowledge in specific fields and, at the same time, shape civic attitudes. Thus, voting can be thought of as the manifestation of both language skills and social activity which young people should be encouraged to undertake.

    Artykuł dotyczy historycznego rozwoju przedmiotu szkolnego zwanego obywatelstwem w szkołach średnich w Republice Czeskiej oraz jego odrodzenia i schematu po 1989 roku. Krótko odnosi się do istotnych cech związanych z jego przemianami w programie nauczania w okresie socjalizmu, a następnie: po 1990 r. Krótka część tekstu poświęcona jest podręcznikom i dawnym dokumentom programowym. W artykule przedstawiono także pokrótce rolę filozofii w czeskim programie nauczania w kontekście obywatelskim. Artykuł powstał ze środków projektu „PROM – Międzynarodowa wymiana stypendialna doktorantów i kadry akademickiej” w ramach Programu Operacyjnego Wiedza Edukacja Rozwój, współfinansowanego ze środków Europejskiego Funduszu Społecznego; projekt nr. POWR.03.03.00-00-PN13/18.
    The article concerns the historical progress of the school subject called civics in secondary schools in the Czech Republic and its recovery and its scheme after 1989. It briefly refers to the important characteristics due to its transformation in the school curriculum during the socialism, and then, after 1990. Short part of the text is devoted to textbooks and former curriculum documents. The article also briefly presents the role of philosophy in the Czech curriculum in a civics context. The article is financed from the funds of the project "PROM – International scholarship exchange of doctoral students and academic staff" under the Operational Programme Knowledge Education Development, co- financed by the European Social Fund; project no. POWR.03.03.00-00-PN13/18.
