The control chart is a tool of statistical quality control, which is widely used in production. The fulfillment of its basic assumptions, guarantees flawless assessment of correctness of the monitored process. The purpose of this paper is to pay attention to the need to verify the assumptions of the used method and the effects of its unauthorized use, in case of not meeting its assumptions. In this paper a method that uses a family of stable distributions to estimate the unknown probability density of monitored diagnostic variable, is proposed. The estimated density function is the basis for determining the control limits.

In the paper, the author attempts to isolate, clarify, systematize, and classify various types, models and kinds of electronic chart systems, operating nowadays on the shipping market, which are a perfect example of the use of GIS (Geographic Information System) technology in widely comprehended maritime and inland waterway applications, in particular tries to promote internationally standardized system ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display and Information System), its RCDS mode (Raster Chart Display System), as well as Warship ECDIS (WECDIS), and Inland ECDIS (I-ECDIS). In the paper the author presents the general classification of electronic chart systems taking into consideration the following criteria: international standards, certification by classification society, used data base, updating system and certification by maritime administration.

Manufacturing companies are now placing great emphasis on competitiveness and looking for ways to utilise their resources more efficiently. This paper presents optimum efficiency improvement of the automotive transmission assembly production line by using line balancing. 3 assembly stations were selected to optimize where waste management requirements are not met for achieving the production capacity. Several measures were proposed on the assembly lines concerned to reduce operations by using eliminating unnecessary activities of the assembly processes, reducing the cycle time, and balancing manpower workload using line balancing through Yamazumi chart and Takt time. The results of the proposed measures were compared with the current situation in terms of increasing the efficiency of the production line.

Conducting navigation by using electronic charts is not an option anymore. With few exceptions, vessels shall carry on board electronic navigational charts and Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems. The official electronic charts are issued by or on behalf of the authority of a Government, authorized Hydrographic Office or other relevant government institutions. These nautical charts are compiled from multiple data sources, some modern and very comprehensive, while others older. The accuracy of data, named “Category Zones of Confidence – CATZOC”, differs among various navigation areas. The navigation officers of the watch rely on the chart data to calculate the safety parameters and to plan the route in advance for the intended voyage. The aim of this paper is to emphasize the impact which the data accuracy has on the safety of navigation. For this purpose, a model vessel was considered in a Strait of Dover bridge simulation scenario, assuming good weather conditions without swell or current. The Safety Contour was defined using a mathematical formula which incorporated the under keel clearance, the squat effect and the tide levels. Then, the Safety Contour was examined considering the chart data accuracy. The results of this analysis contribute to increasing awareness and better understanding of CATZOC influences on the identification of safe waters during navigation.

Control charts are the most commonly used quality control tools. These tools are dedicated to monitoring processes characteristic over time. Control charts may be successfully applied in other statistical areas. The non-classical use of control charts for time series prediction has been presented by Z. Pawłowski in the paper Predykcja za pomocą kart kontrolnych (Control Chart Based Prediction, 1969). The forecasts obtained by this method are quantitative or qualitative. The modification of this method is presented in the paper. It leads to quantitative predictions in all cases. The proposal was compared to some well-known classical prediction methods in the Monte Carlo study.
Metody statystyczne opracowane na potrzeby kontroli jakości produktów z powodzeniem mogą być stosowane w analizie innych zagadnień. Do najczęściej wykorzystywanych narzędzi kontroli jakości należy zaliczyć karty kontrolne. Nieklasyczne zastosowanie kart kontrolnych związane z wykorzystaniem ich do prognozowania przedstawił Z. Pawłowski w artykule Predykcja za pomocą kart kontrolnych (1969). Prognozy otrzymywane tą metodą mają charakter ilościowy lub jakościowy. W artykule przedstawiono propozycję modyfikacji tej metody w celu uzyskania wszystkich prognoz o charakterze ilościowym. Proponowaną metodę porównano symulacyjnie z wybranymi metodami predykcji.

The recording industry is an example of an industry offering cultural goods. It is subject to constant change, associated e.g. with intra-structural transformations taking place as a result of mergers and acquisitions, the changing number of formats and their importance to customers, resulting in declining revenues of the sector in the first decade of the 21st century. For several years, a reversal of this trend has been observed, resulting from the growing sales of music in digital form. The subject of the study is the competitiveness of the phonographic sector products. The aim of the study is to analyse changes in the sustainability of competitive position of phonograms in a timeframe and in relation to phonograms offered on four selected markets: Polish, Czech, Slovak and Hungarian, i.e. the countries forming the Visegrad Group. On the basis of the sustainability value of the phonogram’s competitive advantage index, which is the period of maintaining the dominant position on the market, an attempt was made to verify the thesis that the periods of sustainability of competitive advantage are recently shortened. The analysis uses market data and measures of descriptive statistics. It was noted that within the V4 Group there is no same direction of changes in the sustainability of the competitive advantage of phonograms. On the Czech market, the above thesis is not confirmed. Differences between the Polish and Hungarian markets concern the durability of the competitive position of phonograms representing various musical genres. The applications relate to the potential directions of changes and the resulting activities that may be undertaken by enterprises in the sector.
Sektor fonograficzny jest przykładem sektora oferującego dobra kulturalne. Podlega on ciągłej zmianie, związanej m.in. z przekształceniami wewnątrzstrukturalnymi, zachodzącymi w wyniku fuzji i przejęć, ze zmieniającą się liczbą nośników dźwięku i ich znaczeniem dla odbiorców, skutkującym malejącymi przychodami sektora w pierwszej dekadzie XXI wieku. Od kilku lat jest obserwowane odwrócenie tego trendu, wynikające z rosnącej sprzedaży muzyki w formie cyfrowej. Przedmiotem opracowania jest konkurencyjność produktów sektora fonograficznego. Celem opracowania jest przeprowadzenie analizy zmian trwałości pozycji konkurencyjnej fonogramów w układzie czasowym oraz w odniesieniu do fonogramów oferowanych na wybranych czterech rynkach: polskim, czeskim, słowackim oraz węgierskim, a więc krajów tworzących Grupę Wyszehradzką (Grupę V4) – grupę połączoną więziami gospodarczymi i politycznymi. Na podstawie analizy wartości wskaźnika trwałości przewagi konkurencyjnej fonogramu, jakim jest okres utrzymania dominującej pozycji na rynku, została podjęta próba weryfikacji tezy, zgodnie z którą okresy trwałości przewagi konkurencyjnej ulegają obecnie skracaniu. W opracowaniu zastosowano analizę danych rynkowych oraz miary statystyki opisowej. Zauważono, że w ramach Grupy V4 nie można mówić o jednolitym kierunku zmian trwałości przewagi konkurencyjnej fonogramów. Na rynku czeskim powyższa teza nie znajduje potwierdzenia. Różnice między rynkiem polskim i węgierskim dotyczą trwałości pozycji konkurencyjnej fonogramów reprezentujących różne gatunki muzyczne. Rekomendacje obejmują potencjalne kierunki zmian oraz wynikające z nich działania, które mogą zostać podjęte przez graczy sektora.

In particular he tries to promote internationally standardized vector charts ENCs (Electronic Navigational Charts), and raster charts RNCs (Raster Navigational Chart), as well as military Digital Nautical Charts (DNCs), High Density Bathymetric ENCs (bENCs), Port ENCs (PENCs), Inland ENCs (I-ENCs), Three Dimensional Digital Nautical Charts (3DNCs) and others. He presents general classification of electronic charts data bases taking into account the following criteria: spatial dimension, data types (data format), official status, international standards, consistency, level of detail of bathymetry, data confidence (reliability, accuracy), navigational purpose, and indirectly also the compilation scale of the chart, size and arrangement of cells.

Artykuł poświęcono implementacji metody automatyzacji przekładu algorytmu sterowania sekwencyjnego, dedykowanego sterownikom PLC, zapisanego w postaci grafu SFC w język tekstowy IL i implementacji zaprezentowanej metody w oparciu o środowisko Java. Zastosowanie języka SFC, opierającego się na grafie etapów i przejść ułatwia zadanie programowania procesów sekwencyjnych i modyfikacje kodu sterującego w trakcie rozbudowy systemu, biorąc również pod uwagę tworzenie podprogramów, gwarantujących rekonfigurowalność PLC przy zmieniających się warunkach sterowania. W artykule przedstawiono oryginalne podejście do zagadnienia, polegające na zapisaniu procesu sekwencyjnego w postaci grafu SFC a następnie transformację do postaci IL. Proces tworzenia programu sterującego omówiono na przykładzie procesu cięcia rur.
Authors of this article described an implementation of an automatisation method of the translation a control sequential algorithm, dedicated to programmable controllers (PLC) from the SFC graph to the IL program. An algorithm written in the SFC graph was translated in the IL program, by using an original software created in the Java environment. Using a SFC language based on the graph of stages and transitions simplify a task related to the creation of sequential programs. It could be helpful during any modification and development in future, even years ago after an implementation the controlled system. In the first part were given some arguments confirmed a need of the translation from SFC graph to the IL program, e.g. Proficy Machine Edition, using for programming GeFanuc's PLCs, which have'nt SFC language as a standard tool. In the second part of the article were described all stages of the translation procedure, which are: preparation part, control part, initialization part and final part. In the third part of the article was given an example of the realistic sequential control system, related to the cutting pipes process.

The aim of the paper was to determine the possibility of the use of Shewhart control charts to monitor changes in the forms of nitrogen, showing the quality of wastewater discharged from the wastewater treatment plant in Krosno in the years 2010-2015. The performed statistical analysis showed the highest number of cases of elevated nitrate nitrogen and/or ammonium nitrogen when the temperature of treated wastewater was below 8-9°C. This low temperature resulted in adverse effect on the activity of bacteria that were involved in biological removal of nitrogen. It was found that in the winter months, the second stage of nitrifying bacteria responsible for oxidation of nitrite to nitrate, exhibited higher activity than the denitrifying bacteria. Graphical presentation of total nitrogen content using control charts for the mean of the process revealed the exceedance of the upper specification line (USL = 10 mgNtot·dm-3) in the months from December to April. It was observed that the total nitrogen removal process in the months from June to November was stable with a very high 90% reduction in biogenic activity. The obtained results confirm the efficacy of control charts as a tool which can easily be applied in the statistical process control of total nitrogen removal in municipal wastewater treatment plants.

Some industrial data often come with uncertainty, which in some cases depends on the decision of those responsible for taking the measurement in the production process. While the fuzzy approach helps to tackle the ambiguity that arises in the measurement, an interval type-2 fuzzy set deals with such uncertainty better due to its flexibility over the control limits of its control chart. This paper aims to develop an Interval Type-2 fuzzy Exponentially Weighted Moving Average Control Chart (IT2FEWMA) under the fuzzy type-2 condition. This development will facilitate monitoring small and moderate shifts in the production process in conditions of uncertainty.

This paper presents a dynamic hyperboloidal mapping model aimed at building image of electronic navigational chart which constitutes an equivalent to that obtained from a hypercatadioptric camera system. In the 1st part, space and three reference frames located in it are defined. These are: the observer frame and horizontal topocentric frame considered secondary (both connected with water-surface platform), and the geocentric frame, primary one. The 2nd part provides description of a way of interconnection between the observer frame and horizontal topocentric one as well as of determination of their location in relation to the geocentric reference frame, depending on course and position of water-surface platform. In the final part is presented a model of panoramic image mapping in the observer reference frame and principles of generating ENC image by using dynamic hyperboloidal mapping. Finally, conclusions indicating possible applications of the developed model are presented.
