    The article describes the changes the men-made environment, when abandoned places start to be only history's sad memory. Forgotten, locked in the city and losing its spirit. The desire for its return, in a slightly altered form while preserving its original character engages artists for many years. There is one question that needs to be asked: to what extent are we able to interfere with the existing state of the whole establishment so it doesn't lose its original individuality?

    Opis:
    Społeczeństwo europejskie ulega postępującej laicyzacji. Przeprowadzanie adaptacji opuszczonych i często niszczejących świątyń do funkcji świeckich jest więc zjawiskiem nieuniknionym. Jednak w Polsce desakralizacja to wciąż jeszcze pojęcie niezrozumiałe i enigmatyczne, budzące często strach przed profanacją, kojarzące się z przymusową sekularyzacją dóbr kościelnych. Desakralizacji i sekularyzacji poddane zostają jednak obiekty niezależnie od czasu ich powstania, stylu architektonicznego, lokalizacji, czy wyznania. Europejskie przykłady zmiany funkcji kościołów rożnych wyznań budzą wiele kontrowersji. Mimo to, w coraz bardziej zlaicyzowanej Europie jest ich z roku na rok coraz więcej. Należy jednak wziąć pod uwagę nie tylko socjologiczny aspekt desakralizacji. Nowowprowadzane funkcje pociągają za sobą także architektoniczną ingerencję. Ingerencję, która może w bardzo istotny sposób zmienić wygąd obiektu. Granica architektonicznej przemiany i konserwatorskiej ingerencji jest trudna do zdefiniowania i zmienna, w zalezności od przypadku.
    European society is becoming increasingly secular. Carrying out the adaptation of abandoned and often deteriorating churches to secular functions is therefore an inevitable phenomenon. However, in Poland, desacralisation is still an incomprehensible and enigmatic concept, often evoking fear of profanation and associated with the forced secularization of church goods. However, objects are desacralised and secularized, regardless of their time of construction, architectural style, location or religion. European examples of changing the functions of churches of different denominations raise a lot of controversy. Despite this, in an increasingly secularized Europe, there are more and more of them every year. It is not just about the sociological aspect of desacralisation. that needs to be considered. New functions also involve architectural interference. Interference that can significantly change the appearance of the object. The boundary of architectural transformation and restoration intervention is difficult to define and it can change depending on the case.

    Opis:
    The article offers an introduction to a discussion on the epistemological and axiological assumptions of the biographical methods and, more broadly, interpretive sociology. It first presents the changes in the function (Funktionswandel, in the terminology of Karl Mannheim) of interpretive concepts as they entered mainstream sociology in recent decades: from the critique of disciplinary power (in the Foucauldian sense) to the lack of criticism towards governmentality. It is in this context that the position of the biographical method is discussed. Reservations toward the biographical method are then outlined from the points of view of two varieties of anti-essentialism (Erving Goffman, Michel Foucault). The conclusion postulates that interpretative sociology and the biographical method will once again take up a critical attitude, this time with regard to governmentality.
    Artykuł stanowi zaproszenie do dyskusji nad epistemologicznymi i aksjologicznymi założeniami metody biograficznej, a szerzej – socjologii interpretatywnej. Najpierw zarysowana jest przemiana funkcji (Funktionswandel, termin Karla Mannheima), jakiej doznały niektóre idee interpretatywne w ostatnich dziesięcioleciach w związku z włączeniem ich do socjologii głównego nurtu: od krytyki (w Foucaultowskim sensie tego słowa) dotyczącej władzy dyscyplinarnej do braku krytycyzmu wobec rządomyślności. W tym kontekście omawiana jest sytuacja metody biograficznej. Następnie przedstawiane są wątpliwości wobec metody biograficznej z punktu widzenia dwóch wariantów antyesencjalizmu (Erving Goffman, Michel Foucault). Konkluzją jest postulat powrotu socjologii interpretatywnej i metody biograficznej do postawy krytycznej, tym razem wobec rządomyślności.

    The aim of the article is to analyze and interpret the data obtained through surveys on the educational function of the family. In the changing sociocultural reality, in the perspective of political decisions in the state, the family, as the basic socializing agency of the individual, changes to fulfill its functions. The analyzed data show a picture of changes in the respondents’ worldviews, show changes in the system of evaluation and reveal the subjects’ motivations. The theoretical framework of the paper is Krzysztof J. Brozi’s theory of worldview and the cultural standard theory.

    An exact solution of the equations of elasticity for round plates loaded axially symmetric. The problem of bending round plates, which are under the influence of normal forces attached to any law to load any type of resistance. It is shown that pasture circular plate under axially symmetric load leads to appearance of temperature field.

    The peculiarities of distribution and use of budgetary facilities for the public goods production in the EU countries, including Poland, are considered and possibilities of adaptation of this experience to the Ukrainian conditions are determined in the article. The author has made the comparative analysis of the structure of general budgetary expenditures in the EU countries and Ukraine, revealed the regularities of financing the public goods production on the basis of calculating the elasticity of general budgetary expenditures by function to GDP, the index of the structure change in general budgetary expenditures and implementing the cluster analysis, and suggested certain recommendations concerning the improvement of financing public goods production in Ukrainian economy taking into account euro–integration aspirations.

    W artykule został opisany proces przekształceń zabytkowych dworców kolejowych związany z ich modernizacją i adaptacją do nowych funkcji w świetle uwarunkowań prawnych, projektowych i realizacyjnych. Problematykę przedstawiono na przykładzie badanych obiektów powstałych w okresie międzywojennym na terenie II Rzeczypospolitej i zmodernizowanych po roku 2006. Zauważalny jest brak istotnych elementów procesu projektowego i wykonawczego takich, jak identyfikacja i ocena wartości zabytkowych, badanie historii i specyfiki obiektu oraz dokumentacja wprowadzanych zmian. Nie istnieje także koncepcja zarządzania zabytkowymi obiektami kolejowymi. W rezultacie wiele z wyremontowanych obiektów traci swój unikatowy charakter, atrybuty zabytkowych wartości, a także pierwotne funkcje. Wprowadzenie nowych funkcji sprawia zarządcom trudności, przez co niektóre dworce pozostają niezagospodarowane.
    The article describes the process of transformation of historic railway stations for the modernization and adaptation to new functions in the light of legal, design and realization issues. Problems are presented on the example of studied objects - stations created in the interwar period in Poland and modernized after 2006. The study showed lack of significant elements in the design and the executive processes, such as the identification and evaluation of historic values, study of history and character of the object and documentation of changes. There is also no concept of managing historic station buildings . As a result, many of the renovated objects will lose its unique character, the attributes of historic value and original function. The introduction of new functions seems problematic for managers, what makes some stations remain unoccupied.

    Necessary and sufficient conditions are found for the exponential Orlicz norm (generated by $ψ_p(x) = exp(|x|^p)-1$ with 0 < p ≤ 2) of $max_{0≤t≤τ}|B_t|$ or $|B_τ|$ to be finite, where $B = (B_t)_{t≥0}$ is a standard Brownian motion and τ is a stopping time for B. The conditions are in terms of the moments of the stopping time τ. For instance, we find that $∥max_{0≤t≤τ}|B_t|∥_{ψ_1} < ∞$ as soon as $E(τ^{k}) = O(C^{k}k^{k})$ for some constant C > 0 as k → ∞ (or equivalently $∥τ∥_{ψ_1} < ∞$). In particular, if τ ∼ Exp(λ) or $|N(0,σ^2)|$ then the last condition is satisfied, and we obtain $∥max_{0≤t≤τ}|B_t|∥_{ψ_1} ≤ K √{E(τ)}$ with some universal constant K > 0. Moreover, this inequality remains valid for any class of stopping times τ for B satisfying $E(τ^{k}) ≤ C(Eτ)^{k}k^{k}$ for all k ≥ 1 with some fixed constant C > 0. The method of proof relies upon Taylor expansion, Burkholder-Gundy's inequality, best constants in Doob's maximal inequality, Davis' best constants in the $L^p$-inequalities for stopped Brownian motion, and estimates of the smallest and largest positive zero of Hermite polynomials. The results extend to the case of any continuous local martingale (by applying the time change method of Dubins and Schwarz).
